Hi Mike,
A big shout-out to you for all the great work you’ve been doing here.
I only found your channel a few weeks ago but subscribed pretty quickly.
I completed my first pc build over the weekend (owned a lot of PCs but never built one myself) and your videos, especially on Kolink Citadel Mesh RGB, MSI B550m Pro-VDH wifi and BIOS setup, have been an immense help.
I decided to go for the system with integrated graphics and chose Ryzen 7 5700G and everything is working really well so far.
I’m using 1 TB Crucial P3 Plus PCIe 4.0 NVMe ssd at the moment but found out only yesterday that the processor doesn’t support PCIe 4.0 so I guess my ssd is not currently being utilised to it’s full potential. A rookie mistake/oversight I guess.
Not all is lost, however, as I am already planning my next build, this time with a discrete GPU and a processor supporting PCIe 4.0 so I will just use this ssd in my new build and will get something cheaper for this one.
Thanks again and I guess I’ll be back for some more useful tips and tutorials pretty soon. 😊
awesome alex, glad to know the videos are helping and the advice is being used, the citadel range of cases are pretty awesome my video editing PC is the Citadel mesh ATX rgb and it works really well for me
Bravo, saved me messing around with memory overclock, thanks a lot!
I brought this motherboard. I made up my PC with it and when set up windows 11, thurnderstorm was roaming. The bios updates downloaded automatically with the Win11 thanks to the utility. I had a bit power outage, and I had to use this q flash. This Q-flash is life-saver.
yeah i try to avoid buying any motherboard that doesn't have a flash back button
@mikesunboxing This is what I do not like about Gigabyte. They made really good motherboards back in the time, but recently they f off. For 250$ people expect an entry level ATX to have at least Type-C header in the back because most wired keyboard and wireless ones use Type-C to Type-C! Did you ever experienced something I did? How did the Q saved you?
Super helpful I couldn’t find this in the manual!!!

Thank you for this video, i was uncomfortable doing a bios flash to my mainboard, but I feel comfortable now :)

Well structured Mike! Thanks!
This feature is what was really needed with AMD's long socket support. Having to find an older cpu just to update was a pain in the back's bottom. I'Ll never buy a motherboard without that feature again, as I ometime forget to flash the bios to the latest one before fully assemble the new one with the newer parts, so resell it is not as easy as it should. I dont like having to remove the cpu and ram of a fully funtional computer just to flash an older board.

If your flash drive or external hard drive is larger than 32gb you can use Disk Management to delete the volume, then create a disk with less than 32gb, this way you'll be able to select the FAT32 File system.
But why can't it be less than 32gb?

SUCH a helpful guide Mike! I'm honestly so grateful for all the videos that you pump out for us. You are genuinely one of my favourite content creators. Rather random question, but do you do a lot of gaming in your free time, and if so, what kinds of games? I've really been enjoying Red Dead Redemption 2 as of recently. It's a slow one for sure, but damn is it detailed! Cya Mike :)
thanks! we really appreciate that, a lot of work goes on here and we have pretty much given up our regular life to do all this, so comments like this make it see more worthwhile.
Gaming wise being that we grab a few minutes here and there it is mostly the games that are in the benchmarks we do, for me mostly CSGO rocket league, Dead Island 2 wreckfest are the key ones at the moment
Thank you for this guide! I just bought a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Says I need BIOS version 7d75v13 to run it. Question - probably a dumb one but I'm new to this: does it matter if I use a version *after* that, or do I need to use that BIOS version? Example: can I use 7D75v17 (released August 2023), or do I need to use version 7d7v13?
use the newest version available
So straight forward when you follow your tuition, how do people get it so wrong 🙄 Thanks for sharing Mike and Kath🐈👍
Yeah very true
Thanks for this, would you recommend me doing this for my msi x670e tomahawk along with the ryzen 7800x3d for my new build?
Also if I do should I download latest stable release or beta?
get the newest bios, the betas are generally fine and just it takes longer to validate these days compared with the release frequency of the bios updates
@@mikesunboxing thanks, I’m going to build without flashing the bios first though, I checked and I think the manufacturer date of my x670e tomahawk is October 2024, so will build then check the version once up and running.

Hi Mike, thanks for all your time makimg this videos.
I have one quesiton, can i update the mobo bios after complete my build or its necesary update before?
Im asking because the amd expo profile on the ram can cause some troubles.
If the cpu is supported you can do it whenever you like 👍
@@mikesunboxing Excelent. Thanks again Mike. Your the best.
Question - Why do I need to rename it from .131 to .rom? Also, does this BIOS flashback method apply to all MSI B650 motherboards?
yes this is the same process on all usb flash back boards.
and the file needs to be changed so the bios flash back chip knows it is a bios file
What does it mean when the light instantly stops flashing and stays on? I am using the same motherboard as you are. I'm worried it didn't work and I'm too afraid to pull out USB and try again in case I ruin the process

I followed your video tutorial step-by-step yesterday, and it went exactly like your video. I was super happy, thinking it worked out so easily. After assembling my new computer however, it will not boot. I double checked all components, everything is connected, and everything has power. I was therefore thinking the bios flash didn't work after all, seeing as it won't boot. I have a AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D with this B650 mobo. I don't know if this was stupid, but I then tried to flash the bios again, with all components installed. This time, when holding the flash button, it started but immediately went out after only 3-4 seconds. I nearly haven't slept tonight, thinking I've now done something wrong/broken something. What should I do??
There are a lot of reasons the BIOS update won't work as it should. If you are interested, we have made a video discussing common errors and some sanity checks you can make before considering returning the motherboard or taking it to a professional.

@mikesunboxing Thank you for the reply. I've watched the entire video, and I'm gonna try to flash an older bios version. I just tried this and the bios flash has been in progress for over 20 minutes (this MB is for my son, I previously did this on my MB and it only took 5 min). Not sure if it's an issue with the USB stick being an older 2.0 vs 3.0 so that's why it was taking so long? Sorry for the noob question. But, do you actually need to remove all the components (CPU, GPU, RAM, etc) you installed on the motherboard before performing a flashback?
no but it is easier to diagnose if for some reason it doesn't work as it such
This is probably a stupid question but I'm gonna ask it anyways. If I want to upgrade my bios from an older one to a new one with everything already built and used already will that affect anything? I tried doing it already via m-flash and the screen was just black. Also is it ok to upgrade from the 7D75v13 version directly to the newest version being 7D75v1K. I've seen some people say sometimes its not safe to upgrade bios from an old version straight to a new version as it can lead to problems. I used this tutorial back in April and it worked flawlessly btw thank you!
as long as the bios is not more than a few revisions it is okay to jump to the newest, if the system is a couple of years old then a few jumps might be needed

I bought this motherboard on November 25th, I assembled the PC but the CPU LED is red and the RAM LED is yellow, I'm going to disassemble it and try to update the bios. any suggestion
that is common just leave it for 10 minutes or so and it should retrain the ram
everything works perfectly without the need to update the bios, I turned on the PC and waited 3 minutes. Thank you for your help
@@EuMesmo-vr1ks Glad it's up and running 🙂
Im having the same problem, my ram is corsair ddr5 with mother board msi pro b650m-a wifi and using ryzen 5 8600g should i update the bios or just let it run?
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
i am going to be getting an MSI PRO B650M-A WiFi board. Will this tutorial apply to that specific board??
yes same process
Is possible doing this with the pc already assembled or should i remove ram CPU ssd and gpu?
just the RAM will likely be okay
Hey I hope you can help me. My led is not flashing and is constant on. What should I do?
sounds like it cant read the USB stick or the file, double check those first
@ it was the usb drive …
2.0 seems to be the best. 1 out of 5 sticks worked. And it was the oldest one :D
@@w.mordergesicht3874 Lol! Glad you got it working 🙂
Can something bad happen to the motherboard if the power goes out during the update? I've read different opinions and I don't know what to think about it.
if you can avoid it, that is the best option, but really the usbb flashback is also used to recover corrupt bios so there is less to worry about
Hi Mike, I just try that. My white bios LED is flashing since like 20 minutes, but no LED flasing on MB. I think someting went wrong. How can I cancel the process and try again?
just turn off the power and try another usb or file
@@mikesunboxing thanks I unplugged USB during blinking. It appears that the update didn't even start as I could turn on my rig normally and worked fine. But I was sweating like a hooker in a church, thought I bricked it.
Great video thanks Mike
Glad you enjoyed it
Can you do a video of testing with a monitor after this step...for a 1st time builders...you may already have it I haven't seen it tho ....Thanks for your videos they help alot
Yes I can
Is it better to do this with or without the rest of the components?
ideally a fresh empty board, but any way you can do it is fine, maybe remove RAM if it is a fully built system
@@mikesunboxing thanks man! All my parts are on the way, so far I've only got the case, CPU and keyboard. Your vid has really helped my worries of the whole BIOS thing. Super excited. Thanks again
Does this exact motherboard, in the Intel version, need a bios update after a fresh build? First-time builder here
Dependent on what processor you are using really, but odds are on your favour
Pairing it with the i5-12400f !
It's doing before build?
Before or after
@mikesunboxing what is difference between flashback bios and update Bios ?
I also have a msi mag b650 tomahawk wifi when I am doing bios flashback electricity supply gone in middle of the process
Please tell me what to do?
