Including the Pan African Flag in the clothing was so genius. I didnt even realize that watching the movie the first go around. Also the stress on Black Femininity is just amazing. This brother is A1✊🏾

Well... it's the directors job! 😂 this is a good one because he knows what he's doing with context, colour scheme and production design in relation to character and story. unlike some people who just shoot for the sake of shooting and money. But this takes at least months worth of pre planning and it all starts with Ryan drawing on a piece of paper laying out what he wants and telling the crew exactly that

I love the wakanda General she is so powerful and incredible with her fight choreography. That chanting that comes up every time she fights adds the perfect touch of their culture. Truly amazing.

A lot of directors used to do just that, though just on audio only. There was a secondary track on a lot of DVDs and Blu-rays that you could turn on, and it'd be the director giving lots of backstory on what was happening scene-by-scene. I don't know if they still do this as I've stopped buying physical media and have switched to digital purchases only.
Ronnje F They still do it. They're called director commentaries. And I'm pretty sure for some recent films, that came out digitally. You can get the special features, which include the director commentary.

yea ross was really accepted since in the comics he's more or less always there and a veeery good friend of t'challa, always being saved and saving him. ross is more or less the only white good chara you will constatnly see in black panther. he's a black panther comics character. ross was loyal to t'challa, never did him dirty, respected them, and a good friend who always helped and even help save a couple oftimes. so yea he's more or less accepted already.

That was my only problem with this video 😂 tbh. He speaks plainly which is nice but he stutters a lot and draws things out which for my whole life I've found personally annoying. But that's a me thing. I like how Taika Waititi talks with a lot of purpose and direction. Probably cause he's good at improv so he's always ready to say things perfectly when he thinks of them.

Are we really gloss over the fact that Ryan just referred to the black panther as "Not the average bear". I've never felt more related to in my life.
Loved the part with him talking about the 3D printed set and how it felt like playing with action figures.

A really awesome detail is the fact that Klaue's goons are South African and hence could make out Okoye's "Stand Down" order as one meriting aggression towards due to its similarity to their own country's language. At first glance you may just think its a useless macguffin to start a casino brawl but it was well thought out.

Lebbz It was a macguffin to advance the plot, there's nothing deep there. If you heard someone shouting "stand down" during a secret deal, you'd immediately be onto them.
Hi, I'm South African and it depends where you are as to how much of each language you understand. But you wouldn't have to understand fluently what she said, you would hear some terms often enough to get the general gist of the meaning. So in this Universe she is speaking Native Wakandan, that would be something Klaue's goons would recognise. Simply, thats a Wakandan spy/operative - I get paid by Klaue to stop people like that

I really hope Disney and Marvel let him do a Directors cut and I would love to watch a directors VO and also a VO with other cast and crew members especially costume and set design. So much love and talent went into this film.

Wow, I had no idea Ludwig was a composer in this film. For those that aren't familiar, he's been Donald Glover's/Childish Gambino's musical half since the beginning.
Yes, I think I remember reading they met on the set of the show Community. Göransson also scored Coogler's other two films (Fruitvale Station and Creed.)
They met in film school. Ludwig was a friend's roommate. Ludwig did the music for his first film school short
And now he's won an Oscar for the score.

ExTremeHYPE Creed? My local AMC was 90%+ full for 9/10 shows(and that's because the first two rows are too close for a lot of people) every day since it came out. I looked at the reserved seats for every showing so far and I would be shocked if some sort of opening weekend ticket sales record was not broken.

Yup. Seen it twice and I’m not even big on seeing movies multiple times in theaters. It was JUST as enjoyable the second time around. And you should also check his other movies out. Not sure how you would’ve missed Creed but that and Fruitvale Station was well done.

superhero films are FILMS at their root, with a lot of intellectual details, study and references. superhero films must be taken seriously in this century!!!
I agree but for the most part people that like them want them fast pace and simple like fast food.
Honestly I'm not sure most marvel studio films get this subtle treatment. To me, things got better with Dr strange: lackluster story, but at last, fun visuals. The last Thor movie also had a sense of fun and of destruction of the idols (to the point that they undermine good story moments). I haven't seen this one yet, but if everything is on this level with layered meanings, this one could be the most meaningful marvel movie yet.

Oh man this is incredible!!!!!!! and I'm saying this not as a fan but as an english teacher as well, because seeing directors talk about their films and mention key points in their films is incredible if you want to analyse the film, and this video? Incredible, perfect.
If we could get this all the way through for the blu-ray, I'd pay 2-3 times as much for that.

I honestly had to pause this video just to say how amazing this all is. I pride myself on paying attention to detail and I can't believe the pan African flag colors escaped me when I viewed it.
This shows that directors are responsible for everything that goes on in a scene. They need to get more credit for whats good and take more flak for whats bad.
Especially if the director has full production support. Sometimes directors do not have full control though.
