Brilliant build that incorporates so many awesome aspects. I can’t even come close to building like this IN creative, let alone doing it pure authentic from scratch. Liked and subscribed!
When I watched your first iteration showing all the shapes and design ideas you showed, this castle design drew me in like a moth to the flame. FINALLY get to see it function and very impressed.
The base was extremely functional and a great setup for multiplayer as there is plenty of room for everyone. We were able to fend off the hoard with ease.
Man, you had all kinds of effects going on at the beginning of the horde night, looked like you were in love, deaf, about to trip over something, dinner was almost ready, and you were shouting at someone.
This was built in the fly out of my head over a period of weeks - I’d love to put together a tutorial but the video would be hours long. For this one we are streaming from here in 30 min and you are welcome to join the community server to tour it in person!
Possibly the most fun looking base I have ever seen. It might be fun to shut both sets of doors during horde night which might cause the zombies to flood into the moat. Then you could run around your moat gallery and clean them up. Might keep Crunk happy.
Great job, it's not castle greyskull but it Is a well thought out, self sustaining fortress. Do you plan large builds like this, out on paper first or do you just go for it? Again great job. I look forward to seeing you @tnp2
Great question - answer ... it depends. I'm going to put out a video on my base building thought process, but typically on my large builds I sketch out an outline using excel oddly. That lets me get rough block placement and spacing of traps. In this case, I built this 100% on the fly. I had a concept in my head, but nothing on paper. So I started building the shell and then built the insides as I went. Thanks!
I love your builds and I've been working on my own with some inspiration I've got from a few of yours. I'm having trouble getting the round tower like structure to connect to a straight wall kinda like you have in this base.. what blocks/ shapes do you use?
To do this- when you are making the circle, switch the cardinal North, South, east, west center block with a regular cube instead of the circle shape -- does that make sense?
@@WaywardEko Great info thanks, I was going to do round towers on my main base but ended up doing a "firewatchtower" type of build because I could not figure out how to "attach" the towers to the outer walls. Feeling silly for not figuring that one out myself. Great video/editing and the build is inspiring it's so well thought out.

Hello John - unfortunately would be very difficult to condense a 40-ish hr build into a consumable tutorial. What I am looking to do in the next few weeks is to put out a video on my design process - I'm hoping that in combination with my design series videos will give people the tools to build something just like this. Can you let me know any specific elements of Winter's Edge that would be helpful for me to break out in the design series?
Typically with a secondary horde base. This was on my community server and we take turns hosting hordes at different bases. I built this over a couple weeks and just used other community bases for horde. On a solo game, I would build a more basic horde base as a stand-alone interim. When I build this, I actually used the gatehouse as a temporary crafting setup also.
