    This video answered my question : is the x compact water resistant or not? It seems to be so, but i won't be trying my luck since the last time i tried, i had the z3 compact that died after only 2 months ( bought it new). I used the z3 in the bathtub twice with no issues, i rinsed it twice with no issues, i rinsed it a 3rd time and i lost display's backlight.
    Luckily it was covered by warranty and sony deemed it unrepairable and gave me a brand new x compact in exchange!
    Water resistant or not, i just hope that compacts are here to stay since it's so hard to find small-ish sized phones nowadays, it seems like everyone carries televisions in their pockets!

      ahaha television... dude you're funny :D as for me my suggestion is avoid to use sony phone unless the official said it was water resistant. have a good day :)

    Hi, I've some problems with the microphone probably. People say my voice is low and not clear. I see at minute near 5:00 you dismount the lower loudspeaker but I don't see the microphone. Is the microphone soldered to the motherboard? Is there in the video a point where I can see it? Thank you

    I've seen some comments about water resistance. I droped mine into the sea just for a minute. Just switched immediately OFF, rinsed with deionized water and then left in a bag with rice for 48 hours. First day and works fine! Hope will stay like this...

      Very late but, Xperia X compact is IP68 regardless of region, just that Sony doesn't disclose waterproofing in EU for some reason

    Great video. But can anyone verify/confirm if there are actually gaskets or improved sealing in the body to protect against those odd glass of water spills or exposure to light rain?

    Hello @Wit Rigs,
    I like this video, very educating. I'm hoping that you will feature the Xperia X Compact from doccomo (the one with the water resistance feature) so that we can all end this debate and hesitance with the waterproofing of X series.
    Cheers!

    Hey, I just bought a replacement battery for my Sony Xperia X Compact. The phone uses battery super super quick. Do you have a video on how to take out the battery and replace it?

    • @EricWitrigs
      @EricWitrigs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I'm sorry there's no battery repair guide online yet. But you can follow this teardown video and take off the battery first, then install the new battery, you can use 3MM double side tape to replace the original battery adhesive.

    So, the heat that came while i played a game came from the battery? It is making the phone laggy as hell.

    Excellent video. I noticed the gasket on the charging port, I know the sim tray has one and with evidence from youtube its obvious this is water resistant. Would you think that's the case?

      repo4 Japanese variabts are waterproof, so I guess this is also the same

    • @EricWitrigs
      @EricWitrigs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      for life waterproof? yes. Sony did this to their phones for a long time, but plz do not use X Compact under water, if Sony official doesn't say that phone is water resistant, do not try. Thanks for subscribe ;) have a nice day

    • @EricWitrigs
      @EricWitrigs  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shawn Mendes some people say that was because most Japanese likes bath and using phones when in bathtub, so they have to make phones waterproof, like at least you can hold it with wet hands. :D

    • @repo4
      @repo4 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wit Rigs In the user guide to the X Compact it says: "This device has a capless USB port. If your device gets exposed to water, ensure that the USB
      Type-C port is completely dry before connecting a USB Type-C cable" For any non-waterproof it would say something like "Your phone is not waterproof, whatever you do DO NOT expose it to water!!" I think all X Compacts are the same, ie IP68 certified as in Japan, they are just not marketed that way outside Japan.

    • @troy5568

      Wit Rigs I also love bath tubs, so I wish Sony made one for me lol. Thanks for the response and a great video

    Wit Rigs, this video is amazing. You definitely know your stuff. Interesting to see the complexity in these devices. The Japanese always have been masters of miniaturization.
    I cannot understand the obsession people have with it been waterproof or not - it's not as if you're going to make a call underwater! Get real folks - we're all so damn spoilt!

      Water resistance, in my opinion, is more to save the data you have in your phone in the event of an accident.

    What do you think about the overall build quality of this device,I am planing to buy it soon.Thank you.

    • @EricWitrigs
      @EricWitrigs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tiny, as you know. you can hold it in pocket n use by one hand. plastic body which means it's lighter than other X series phones, however it's easy to get scratches(like in my scratch test video). and plastic brackets(sony's tradition) I think it's good for protecting the internals when fell accidentally. For this phone I have to say I'm pretty like the battery sticker design, easy to remove, unlike most other sony battery sticker (hard to remove n easy to be broken). n they use anti-scratch glass on the camera lens I like that. and... ok that's it ;) hope that can be help.

    Hey.
    Tell me please, is available in this phone protection from water?
    Some have argued that despite the fact that it is not claimed.
    Experts, who understand it must know exactly about this.
    Thank you in advance for your response.
    Sorry for my english :)

    • @EricWitrigs
      @EricWitrigs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sony official didn't claim that, however it does make some waterproof process on this phone, at least you can hold it with wet hands n don't worry to ruin it when water splashing on it accidentally. Here is an advise, do not use it under water, cause if it was water damaged, sony will not be responsible for that.

      As we all can see, this phone inside is not different to earlier z5 or z3, the cover is glue protected, charging protected with rubber, 3.5mm protected with glue and speakers also protected with glue, so no water could enter device. BUT IF IT GETS IN ITS YOUR PROBLEM IF YOU DID NOT BOUGHT IT IN JAPAN, poor non japans we are :(

      Glue is to seal the phone and keep the battery in place.
      Its a lot easier to remove in Sony phones than with other brands though.
