I have the US version; flashing the UK ROM onto it fixes the lack of fingerprint sensor (it is a software issue after all). While $500 for this thing is hard to stomach, under $400 is better. In my experience, this phone performs as fast or faster than the Honor 8 (also a great phone). I'm really loving this little thing.
Flashing it over to Uk doesn't effect bands right? Willmyphonework.net doesn't have the X Compact listed but has the XZ listed and that works with both AT&T and T-Mobile.
As far as I know. I have it on AT&T and it seems to work well. Things to note: there are four bars in the triangle for signal instead of five; threshold for displaying full signal may be greater than normal US indicator; security patch is still from June (auto-updater indicates there's nothing more available).
For a bit of increased speaker volume on the Xperia X Compact, do the following: Settings app/Sound/Audio settings/Sound effects(make sure certain other options are disabled in order to access Sound effects)/Equalizer/ Set all 5 equalizer band controls to maximum. Back out of Settings app. This setting provides a noticeable increase in overall sound volume.

Hahaa. I'm watching this on my Z Ultra that I use as a tablet. Sony makes some great phones nonetheless, the only downside about them is the price and since they don't have such big advertising investments, people tend to look to alternatives
Favorite phone ive owned. Bought mine for $375. Works perfect and super easy to use. Amazing battery life. Sony is very smart for making this very nice small phone, unlike every other company that loves making big clumsy ugly phones. With this Sony i can drink a beer in one hand and text someone in the other. No problemo. And the overall quality is great. A very premium looking and functioning phone. I just felt the need to shut these haters down that have never even used this phone. Ive had an iphone, samsung, htc, huaweii, and nexus, and this Sony is my favorite phone no contest. This phones sweet. Unless you love giant phones that dont fit in your skinny jean pockets and always need 2 hands to hold and drop 8 times a day, then you should get this phone.
I judt bought mine. I love the phone but battery seams suspicious. When I fully charge it, it says that it will provide me with 45 hours. Is this normal. No stamina mode and brightness on 50%

Android Authority Hi there, I just purchased my Sony Xperia X compact. I've not been able to explore it fully, but I noticed one thing that got me by surprise. The phone is announced with 32Gb of memory, but Android 6.0 consumes 10,22 Gb and Android 7.0 just a bit more. Is it normal for a relatively stock android to use so much space? My previous Motorola E 2nd was using 3GB for the same 6.0!? Did anyone else notice the same in their phone? Thanks
This thing is secretly waterproof, it shares the sim tray, the ports and the speakers, this is due to cost issue: it's cheaper for sony to use the same parts instead of getting different, non waterproof ones. This also expains why the speakers are quiet: the waterproof design makes them quieter than usual. Sony didn't advertise it's waterproof ability so that if they get water damaged, sony can walk away without taking responsibility
The design is kinda meh. I don't like glossy plastic. And could they not make the bottom bezel the same width as the top one? That would make the phone even smaller. But even if they got the design right, Sony's camera software and processing algorithms are abysmal.

That's false. The Z5 is only faster when it comes to graphic performance (e.g. games). In all other categories, the X Compact is faster (and has more RAM for better multitasking). Source: Benchmarks from gsmarena, and others.
For all Z5 users, Z5 family include Z5C has SD810, as it's predecessor Z3+ (Z4) which has the same chipset SD810 which infamous of tend to overheating. Get something else if you want to avoid major battery drops!
Good review but you provided a list of alternative phones which all had a larger display / form factor compared to the Sony, the main purpose of this phone is the size with decent performance . I agree the price is crazy and I would never pay this much for what it is.
Is this worth getting? They've reduced the price to £300. I'm currently using a Z3 compact and I need to replace it with a mid range phone. The CPU, resolution and everything else seems to be fine for me as that's what I'm using for my Z3c. I'm just not keen on spending a lot of money, or on some dodgy Chinese brand I've never heard of.

This phone is complete garbage. - Walkman app, which used to be awesome replaced by trashy Music. - Playstation, Sketch and Amazon Shopping are system apps, so you can't remove them unless you root this phone! Awesome, right?! - Apps like facebook Messenger are just extremely annoying to use, because when you open an Xperia app while Chat heads are active then the app will tell you that you can't use it unless you disable screen overlay setting. So Messenger bubbles on this phone? NOPE. - Opened apps tend to reset really often while changing to another app, even when I'm writing this comment. I leave TH-cam for 20 seconds to check how is screen overlay setting called (now I know) and.. TH-cam had to reopen, so I had to write those god damn arguments again. Sony used to make better Xperia phones back in 2012, c'mon.

I would not complain. Sony is tested for its durable and long lasting products. Plus it has midrange hardware but highend performance.

Disappointing battery life. Battery life has gone down since the Z3, which could get >8 hours of use, with the compact getting more (>9)

to be fair, it has fingerprint sensor. it's just somehow Sony always removes the sensor in the US. That's always the case since the Z5 series.

- Playstation, Sketch and Amazon Shopping are system apps, so you can't remove them unless you root this phone! Awesome, right?!
- Apps like facebook Messenger are just extremely annoying to use, because when you open an Xperia app while Chat heads are active then the app will tell you that you can't use it unless you disable screen overlay setting. So Messenger bubbles on this phone? NOPE.
- Opened apps tend to reset really often while changing to another app, even when I'm writing this comment. I leave TH-cam for 20 seconds to check how is screen overlay setting called (now I know) and.. TH-cam had to reopen, so I had to write those god damn arguments again.
Sony used to make better Xperia phones back in 2012, c'mon.
