      Youve made the first and biggest step already man... Youve become AWARE of your unique perception of the world. This is not all doom and gloom... this is simply just a variation of ways in how we think, it DOESNT have to depict how we BEHAVE. The second step is ACCEPTANCE brother. Accept who you currently are and still UNDERSTAND that youre capable of ANYTHING you want... No cliche shit.
      If youre having crazy delusions alllll the time then okay, maybe medication is needed, but honestly... Just accept it and learn to be the BEST YOU that you can (becoming aware of your negative traits to suppress them and harnessing your strengths to potentiate them), you will eventually learn to not give a fuck, because you cant CHANGE it, and life is for LIVING, not for dwelling/sadness. You're allowed to be sad, but if you cant do anything about it directly then... Why are you wasting your time?
      Go live life and FEEL the experience! You may be unique or have your own problems but.... EVERYONE IS AND DOES!! Everyone, and i mean EVERYONE is unique with their own neurochemistry/psychology etc... We just learn to be us, the BEST us that we can be, and we fucking live our lives the way WE want to !!
      I had no clue about ANYTHING about why i am how i am back when I was 19... Youre truly blessed to have attained awareness so early. You can now start embracing the real you and be proud of who you are, every single negative part of it too... We must be proud, because we are alive and weve been given this gift of the moment for FREE... God/Nature is truly beautiful, embrace being a part of God/Nature and you do you brother.
      As long as you hold the right, pure intentions in life... You have nothing to worry about. Your awareness will allow you to be a lot more skeptical of your thoughts/subconscious assumptions (meditation can help with this) and thus you will be okay, growing into the man you want to become.
      Exposure therapy helped rid majority of my social anxiety and now im quite happy to have STPD... As it makes me a vibrant, unique person. Learn to love yourself, self love and gratitude are SO crucial for contentment... And contentment is the real "happiness" (happiness comes and goes, contentment can stay).
      Live long n prossy mate, you'll be fine, especially with your enthusiastic energy to "fix" yourself. Youre not broken, youre you. Everyone has their flaws in their personality, dont deep it so much.
      Big love

      @@ansjeliek Really happy to hear that man 😁 Absolutely my pleasure.
      Also btw, very.. irrelevant, but at the same time i feel i HAVE to say it hahaha, I have my own mix of things but I find holding down 9-5 jobs absolutely exhausting. Whatever income streams you curate for yourself, when you go to save that money, ensure you SECURE that wealth within FIXED SUPPLY COMMODITIES (things with real value and utility of which cannot be printed unlimited times out of thin air), such as bullion (gold, silver etc). However, i will go a step up from that and state how silver is 10x more suppressed in $ price than gold is (silver:gold out the ground is 8:1, yet their prices are 80:1 right now). So... When the inevitable hyperinflation occurs in the next few years (possibly purposeful, they want the banks to collapse to usher in their CBDC/digital currencies)... Your savings wont go down like everyone else who is holding their money in the banks via $/£/€!!! And if anything... The value of your wealth/silver will go UP because the banks (JPmorgan and GoldmanSachs) wont be able to suppress the price anymore (they suppress the price via selling loadsss of fake online ETF "paper silver" to buy it for cheaper and to help out their allies such as elon musk with his electric vehicle etc) !! I would purchase assets such as property and land when this massive hyperinflation/"collapse" occurs... As people will be quickselling for CHEAP, imo.
      Its quite fitting for me to suddenly go on about an imminent banking collapse and where im putting my money because... Well, this COULD be a paranoid delusional-esque rant of mine, but i do hope you do your own research nonetheless, i dont just believe it, i think i "know" it 😂😅.
      I recommend stacking 1Oz coins, thats the sweet spot. One 1 ounce coin right now is about 30$ but the real price with inflation taken into account is atleast 600$, but i believe its possibly worth 3000$/Oz. Gold... 2000$ ish right now but i believe its worth 20,000$/Oz. Make sure the silver is real too, PHYSICALLY in your own possession, and then dispersed, hidden, disguised... You dont want anyone taking it. The US government even made the possession of gold... ILLEGAL, not too long ago... Smh.
      Our types of personalities are quite prone to homelessness, you see a lottt of homeless whom are similar to us. I dont want this happening to you. Secure your wealth, become your own bank... Become self governable! To ensure our abilities to provide and protect our loved ones as men... We need to ensure self governance on our OWN lives, imo. Money is power and makes the world go round in this current paradigm... So we may aswell ensure our power over our... POWER (money).
      Feel free to ask more info and also feel free to ignore/brush off all of what i said! You have enough things on your mind at the moment, I just want to spread the wisdom/data because this is part of my journey of being content, i have been saying it for a few years before the economy got wayy worse and things are still correlating massively with my hypothesis'.

    I almost definitely have this. I really hate that the DSM classifies "dressing and acting different from societal and cultural norms" to be a symptom of any disorder. Let people be people without saying something is wrong with their brain. It doesnt cause distress, and i have had counselors say that if something doesnt cause distress or harm to you or others, its not a disorder. Obviously, this disorder exists. But acting and dressing "weird" harms no one. It just makes life more fun

    • @SarahJRivera
      @SarahJRivera 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@sushiknives5110 I seem to have this also (as suggested by my therapist). I'm by no means anything close to an expert, but the "dressing and acting different" is not one of the critical parts that makes this considered a "disorder", because that part is (typically) not distressing. Rather, it's merely a sign that people with this disorder tend to exhibit, an indicator to signify that could be this the disorder that is causing distress, but not necessarily this particular symptom itself, if that makes sense. At least that's how I understand it. 🙂

And may I say, you seem so knowledgeable about psychiatry Kit, I honestly think you'd make an excellent psychiatrist, and even perhaps if you throw some chemistry in it, make some advances in pharmacology, why not? It's really fascinating to me how one small tablet of Zyprexa I take every day has completely changed my life and who I am in the last 15 years, and I don't even know who's the "brains" behind it. It's mind-boggling to me that schizotypal personality disorder is four times more common than schizophrenia, but so many people have never heard of it. (I had never heard of it until I watched this video!) I wonder if it's because of what you said about how there's a lot about it that we still don't know. I'd also be willing to bet that it's because so many of the symptoms have overlap with other diagnoses, so maybe it's harder to pinpoint it. Plus some people probably don't even think it's worth getting diagnosed (or think they have anything diagnose-able), since the symptoms don't meet the full criteria for schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders.
    It was interesting to hear you break down the different symptoms. I like how you pointed out that culture plays such a big role in what's considered usual or not, and I wonder how that might affect diagnosis for people who have spent significant time living in more than one culture during their lifetime. I'm also really curious about where the lines are between ideas of reference and religion (and within that, normalized or typical religious beliefs vs. religious delusions)... I've heard some religious people in my life talk extensively about destiny, so when you mentioned that when talking about ideas of reference, that made me wonder.
    I also like how you explained where schizotypal personality disorder fits along the spectrum of schizophrenic disorders. I can definitely understand how it would be difficult to diagnose and treat it, especially if it's unclear whether someone is schizophrenic or schizotypal, or schizotypal but later goes on to develop schizophrenia.
    Thank you so much for making this video! I learned a lot!

    • @SchizoKitzo
      @SchizoKitzo  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What’s really interesting about the schizophrenia spectrum is that so many symptoms overlap, and some illnesses turn into others etc… and schizotypal is just one of them. I thought it was interesting that not all schizotypals go on to develop schizophrenia. But I expect in the future editions of the DSM that the schizophrenia spectrum will be messed with yet again. At least they got rid of the five subtypes!
      And yes culture plays a massive role in all of mental health. And i think the medical community needs to be more sensitive to it (the new DSM addresses it in every entry though, which is a good start) and I’m all about a holistic approach to mental health in general.
      Thanks, GC!

    This is fascinating to me. I have been wondering what “mild schizophrenia” would look like, since schizophrenia is so extreme, and it seems likely there would be an in-between state between “normal” and schizophrenia. There’s also a controversial diagnosis we hardly ever hear about called “Attenuated Psychosis Syndrome,” which is where there are clinically insignificant psychotic symptoms. It’s controversial because some psychiatrists think it should be treated with antipsychotics in case it’s early schizophrenia. But others think antipsychotics should not be used unless absolutely needed.

    • @SchizoKitzo
      @SchizoKitzo  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh huh, I had never heard of the attenuated psychosis syndrome before I’ll look into it!
      And to add to what i mentioned in the video how sometimes schizotypal goes on to be schizophrenia…some sources I found had the disorder grouped into two sub categories: the one where it goes on to schizophrenia and those that it doesn’t and if I recall correctly they had slight differences in symptoms but nothing that could make up a reliable diagnostic criteria. It was in a research paper not the DSM, so less supporting evidence.
      And the two sub categories had names, but I cannot remember them off the top of my head. There wasn’t really a way to know which category someone truly fell into except well, see what happens! But there seemed to be plenty of cases that schizotypal was all they got. So again, a lot that we don’t know. It’s nice to hear you found it fascinating! Thanks for this comment! ^_^

People online keep saying I have "schizotypal" but I WAS NEVER DIAGNOSED and before people tell me to "find another doctor", I HAVE for YEARS and NO ONE BRUNG UP "schizotypal", I'm starting to make conspiracies that people in my state know of the disorder but don't want to label me it for some reason, but the logical reasons could be either therapists/psychologists/psychiatrists don't know about it, forgot about it, or don't think I have it. The only "weird beliefs" I have are ghosts and aliens, but Google says those are common beliefs, my new therapist thinks my beliefs are "possible" and "probable", however I'm kinda convinced in the "reincarnation soul trap" conspiracy theory which he doesn't know about and I used to believe I was in a TV show or video game simulation, he hasn't diagnosed me yet with anything and is EVEN against labels sadly but the only clue he gave me was "maybe you do have some undifferentiated schizophrenia", however, he said it's possible that I'm just open minded about stuff, excluding the TV show or simulation or other super weird thoughts I had in the past.

    I highly suspect I have this. The only symptom that doesn't really fit is magical thinking. I have always struggled to look someone in the eye in fear that if they look at mine, they'll see who I am and they'll hurt me. This lead me a lifetime of guessing what people want and what is the right thing to do, even with my own parents.
    I stifle my own emotions, trying to nitpick how I should feel in situation and ignore everything else. This lead me acting odd and awkward. My parents always told me I'm too stiff. I'm way way too aware that my gestures are in a sense a language, and if I don't keep that in check, people would see through me, so I over control even my own body language.
    I never had real friends. I do, but I feel a huge disconnect in emotions with my peers. I don't think they really understand me while I understand them a lot. Its probably my fault for controlling so much of me that I barely connect to people emotionally due to that. The only exception to this was my ex, who graciously listened to me no matter how odd I am, and pointed to me the direction to common sense.
    I have odd "abilities" that I don't think people understand. I can turn off my presence and tune my pain tolerance. I've turn off my presence and when I turn it on the person near me would turn their head to me. My dad would playfully pinch my arm and I wont wince or yelp in pain. It would hurt but I can teach myself to be more sensitive or insensitive to pain. I can gaslight myself into messing up my own memory, which I wont do again because that doesn't sound healthy.
    But bless my mother, she has done a great job at growing me up. I may not have a normal mindset, mood or common sense most of the time. However, the core of my being is driven towards doing the right thing no matter the circumstances. It has confused my friends and peer why I do what I do but to me, personally, its something that "has to be done". Its a calming thing to do, because I could disregard all the social norm I've been trying to maintain, because at that point its like x to y, key to hole.
    (Like bish what does being normal or logical matters if it meant making someone feel better or happier?)
    There are many things I'm still struggling to figure out. The biggest thing being how to be normal. I know I wear clothes like a dumbass, messy and odd (people have pointed it out). I have odd gestures that I can't quite understand how to normalize. I have odd ideas on how to live life that I can't quite relate to others, like.... what do all of you see that I don't?? I feel like another being borrowing a human body to live, I merely adjust myself to what my body needs because that's a good thing to do. So far however it doesn't really hinder my daily life fortunately. I am occasionally blessed with people who genuinely wants to befriend and know me, and people that cares. I believe if I try my best to return these blessings to them I'm gonna live just fine.

    But a durg called RISPERIDONE if consumed before sleep can give a normal sleep without extreme fear or no fear at all but sometimes 2 mg has to be increases to 4 mg

    I've been to psych wards few times. None of diagnosed with schizophrenia actally had it, it actually is no difference between this and that, psychosis suppesedly is hallucinations, delusions or I don't know what else but I would totally consider these patients just the other person in the 100%. There were few alcoholics though that experienced withdrawal and these people actually made some noise/were somehow noticeable.

    I'll preface that I agree that self diagnosis is bad, and can lead to bad things. But I'm 21 now, and have been feeling the symptoms described here since I was 17 or 18 and they've only gotten more pronounced with time.
    Friendships are difficult to keep, I've been heavily isolating myself for fear of people and schemes, and the other symptoms just reasonate with me so much.
    So needless to say, I'm going to use this as inspiration to see a doctor.

    Tried to find a sense of humor in it and use it to delight people
    It can really work with some people and others hate it but it’s me being honestly myself and I think I’d be way less interesting and creative without it. I think good things can really come out of it, having a different perspective on things (I think I’m also on the spectrum so it’s all a blur)

    I've watched pretty much all the TH-cam psychologist videos on Schizotypal and the fact that someone without a degree in the field and only a hobby interest in mental health can come in and completely blow like 98% of these "working professionals" clean out of the water with information and clear explanation really shows what a sad state psychology is in. Gone are the days where some of the brightest scientific minds worked the field. Nowadays mental health is full of bare bones, just good enough mediocrity and the psychology degree is one that is often taken on as the path of least resistance. Psychology really needs to become respectable again. Anyway good video on a topic that most people (including most working psychologists) have almost no insight on.

      @@katzea.a7880 Actually, I do have to make one point. She is doing more than -just- reading out of the DSM-5. I have seen another video where someone is doing something more akin to just reading out of the DSM-5. By contrasting, she is rephrasing what is in the DSM in a what that makes it (to me personally) more clear and honestly more relatable to what I am actually dealing with. Not to mention, you can see in the description of her video that she is indeed pulling from multiple sources, even though she directly references the DSM-5.

And, I don't want to say there is something wrong with STPDs, I was diagnosed with this, but, I still think I got the wrong diagnosis. Can you have this condition when you never really experienced a lot of trauma in your life? Part of it could be social anxiety but the main thing is that many ppl with stpd, including me, struggle with paranoia or persecutory delusions. So, that can make it very hard to trust and bond with someone else. Most, if not all, delusions severely interfere with our ability to connect, talk, or communicate in general. Hope that helps

People can aparently have this their whole lives going back to childhood but for others it can be caused by marijuana use, amphetamine use, alcohol use disorder, abuse and trauma. Repeated traumatic “hits” to the body and brain generate this rare disorder that destroys lives.
