Thanks for your answer back. I think you're doing a great job. It just seems like a lot of the reviewers are missing some of the features that make life really easy on the TT. I bought a 2017 with 90,000 miles, every option available is on it so I was very lucky. Had superb dealer maintenance its entire life. I couldn't be happier. Just stepped over from a Porsche Panamera and I'm having so much more fun with this car. I'm putting in an ecu, tcu, and open air box next month. Looking to and up with 330 horsepower total when I'm done. I have the base 220 horse power model. But I have to say even as it is, it's very quick, very responsive, and I have no complaints on anything. Mine is tango red metallic with the all-leather sport interior. Could not ask for more quality and performance.
@@jameswinans2270 Yeah you're right - maybe I'll make another video pointing out some of the things you've mentioned! Once you get that remap done you're gonna be in heaven hahaha! It totally transforms the car Sounds like you've got yourself a lovely model - enjoy!
Nice video. It seems like several people in the UK who were testing the car nobody ever understood that you can drive it in sport mode. Just a quick back on the stick shift changes you from drive to sport and it's sport it changes the whole way the car drives and acceleration and steering. Also a lot of the people driving the car never figure out that you can do just about everything with your thumbs on the steering wheel. You don't need to scan through the entire series of displays which they found confusing. You can change things with just the click of your left thumb or in your case you write them. I've had the car for 2 months and absolutely love it and everything seems intuitive now. I wouldn't change a thing.
Hi there again. This is Jim in Texas. Spoke to you a few weeks ago. I have a 2017 TT Quattro that I bought about 2 months ago. Last week I got the ECS and TCS remapped as well as the APR intake upgrade. All the parts I got were APR. As you mentioned in your video after you got your car done it completely changed the car. I could not be more happy. Everything improved from acceleration to smoothness to hard shifts and even economy improved when cruising. It's truly a very fast car now. They're Dino horsepower rating with this ECS remap is $321 horsepower. Add another 10 for the low restriction intake and I'm about 331 horsepower when I started with 220 with the basic car. A huge increase and absolutely incredible performance upgrade. I highly recommend it. I was considering maybe driving this for a year and then find an s model, but I see no reason to now. The car I found was an incredibly pristine unmarked inside and out tango red metallic with all the options. It absolutely looks like a new car and now it drives like a different car. Thanks for all your inputs because you helped me make decisions. Take care. Jim
Hey Jim, thanks for your recent comments - sounds like you've found yourself a gem and with the modifications you've decided on, turned it into a diamond!! Wishing you many years of safe and pleasurable driving!
Really enjoying your comments. I like the first one where you just got the car and then when you did the remap. You seemed so genuinely excited about it. I guess the improvement was definitely worth it. APR quotes 101 horsepower increase with their equipment and that's what they're Dino charge show that they send you and that's what the installer told me they've been getting. I just saw the one where you returned your air intake back to stock. That worried me a little bit so I thought I'd contact you. In 2 weeks I'm scheduled to do a remap on my computer and also the remap on the transmission. The upgrade shop doing the work strongly recommends doing the transmission remap at the same time as they say it improves the performance of that great transmission even more. By the way it also deletes the factory speed limit that comes on the standard TT. It will put me more up where the TTS is.The combination should be wonderful. I have a basic TT just like yours. I was also going to have them install the open air intake with the K&N filter. Not so much for the horsepower but for the free breathing and the sound. Now I'm wondering whether I should do that. For a little bit MORE than double the money I can do an enclosed new FREE BREATHING airbox in carbon fiber. I really don't care about the carbon fiber look but I merely wanted the breathing and sound improvement. The shop I'm having do the install is the primary and best improvement shop in Houston and they were highly recommended by the APR company who makes the software that I'm having installed. They also recommend this open air filter. I guess I'll have a long talk with the shop and see what their experiences are before I commit. Is there anybody else out there who has experience on their basic TT installing an open air filter like the one with the K& N blue filter. Appreciate any inputs. I'll pass on the results when I get my work done.
Once again I tried to add an update comment to you. It's been awhile since I last talked to you. Don't know if you are still actively involved in this but I haven't seen any new videos for quite a while. Thought I'd give you a quick update. I just went and renewed my license tag so I suddenly realized it's been 1 year since I've owned my 2017 Audi TT and amazingly I still have nothing to say negative about this car. As you might remember after I've had it for a few months and after watching your videos I had some work done on the car. Had a Phase 1 chip installed as well as a Phase 1 transmission upgrade and the APR airflow and filter upgrade. All parts were a APR company units and installed by a specific shop in Houston Texas that specializes in this. My first impression was that I had a different car under me. Much faster, much better shifting, and a better sound. According to their Dino specs I'm now at 333 horsepower after starting at the factory 220 horsepower. In general the car performs and runs much better than before. I have tried launch mode a few times and it is an incredibly fast acceleration. Timed at about 4.5 seconds to 60 mph. That is about one full second faster than stock. A few months ago I completed an 8 hour trip from Houston to Pensacola, Florida and then back. 8 hours each way in the car was easy with the sport seats and the Napa leather upholstery. The Bang & Olufsen sound system is incredible. The previous owner of this car gave it impeccable care and servicing. I am still getting 23 plus miles per gallon in town and that includes lots of high-powered spurts of speed. On the highway going to Florida at 75 mph I consistently got 31.8 miles per gallon. So the mileage actually improved after doing the modifications to the electronics and air flow. I highly recommend it. My car is now six years old and still looks like brand new. The workmanship in the interior and the paint work is as good as I have seen. And remember my previous car was a Porsche Panamera. I don't feel like I have stepped down in quality in anyway. It was very sad to know that after the 2022 model they are going to cease production of the TT. Depending on the finances involved I may try to find a 2021 or 2022 S model to replace it. Not due to any dissatisfaction with this car, but I now have 94,000 miles on this one and since I can't think of another car that I want to own I may just try to find a lower mileage S model. I will still do the same upgrades to the electronics that I've done on this one. That will bring that car to about 400 horsepower. Are you still driving your black TT or have you moved on to something else now? Wishing you continued success and enjoyment of your cars. Jim
Enjoyed the video. I was really impressed by your TT getting 40 MPG on the highway, but then I realized that a UK gallon is more than a USA gallon (lol). I have a 2016 TTS MK3 with a 6-speed DSG. I get 24 -25 MPG overall, but I rarely get more than 29 MPG on the highway. The 2022 TT and TTS models with the 7-speed DSG are still only rated at 23/30 and 23/31 in the USA. I am a little surprised that the newer models with an additional gear in the DSG do not do better.

Very interesting stuff, sounds like you’ve got a gem there! The Mk.3 is incredible, same great driving experience just with the technology the car deserves 👌🏾 one other complaint I have that I didn’t mention in the video is ive had a few (literally 2 or 3) clunky gear changes but I did read this is common with the Quattro automatics
@@JamesCF10 The clunky gear changes are common , goes back to the mk1 tt days. I have a mk1 225 quattro and had the same problem, there is a cable reset procedure for the gear changes which really helped, especially on the 1st and second gear changes. Pretty simple to do and does not take long. I am not sure if the same procedure is relevant for the mk3 but if it has the same system then it might be worth checking out. Great looking car mate, could not agree more about the rear legroom. Had an emergency not long ago and had to get my father over the hospital needed 60 stitches and my mother had to go in the back of my mk1. Had to basically carry her out of the car as she could not walk after being so cramped up. Thanks for the video mate.
@@boastyy Thanks for this info, it's really helpful! I'll let me local mechanic know if the issue gets noticeable worse, but fingers crossed it stays a-okay 👌🏾
If you can afford the insurance then yeah why not haha - I bought my first TT when I was 20, insurance was only £750 for the year! I went for the 1.8 back then though
I've got lumbar support on my car but this may be due to the comfort & sound pack, or the super sports seats. I'm not convinced it's a standard spec item Yes you can add apple car play too
Great video mate. I was wondering how is the armrest? I'm around the same height as you and it looks like the armrest is far too low to be useable. In this video, is your seat positioned on the highest or lowest? Can the armrest height be adjusted at all?
Thanks for watching! I dont really use the armrest too much because it covers the drinks holder if you pull it forwards - DM me on IG and I'll send you a vide of what I mean (you cant move it up or down, just forward and backwards). As for the seat height, I have no idea where it is but I'd guess it's somewhere near the lowest setting.
How to tell if the normal Audi TT Mk3 has Quattro? I want the normal one but really afraid seller just trying to take advantage by saying the car has it. Really appreciate if you can teach me to spot it.
Considering buying one but can’t decide between the Quattro with the s tronic or the FWD manual. Prefer a manual but definitely feel I would prefer the Quattro. Have u driven the FWD version for comparison?
Definitely go Quattro if you can. The resale is better, it's safer, launches harder as is more tuneable if you decide to get a remap. When you're driving around normally, the Quattro is basically FWD any way, it's only when you floor it or start to lose grip going around a corner that the Quattro system kicks in
@@JamesCF10 test drive went well, the car is amazing. Problem is I also tested an s3 and loved that just as much! (Both Quattro s tronic). The TT FELT quicker 0-60 (not sure it should be) and you can’t question the quality, everything inside and out has the wow factor. The s3 I felt had better handling, although they both felt similar. Think I’ll take a couple of weeks on it but thanks again for your videos mate, they’ve been really helpful and the misses is definitely on your side as she wants the TT! Haha
@@maxporter4344 I'm not too much of a mechanic, but what I would say is make sure it's got full service history, and try to get one with tech pack and comfort & sound pack 👌🏾 Game changing spec 🙌🏾
Lowered on Eibachs with spacers (15mm front/20mm rear) Honeycomb grill and black badges. Window tint/Stage 1/exhaust . Please don't put it on air or I'll unsub. Subtle mods please.
Couldn't agree more - absolutely no chance of putting it on air hahaha you're safe here! I've just ordered the honeycomb grill and I'll have a remap in the new year 👌🏾 Stick around - there's a lot coming! Also, if you have any links to springs & spacers feel free to drop me a message on IG

@@JamesCF10 No worries, enjoy the car mate!
Would you recommend me this car ,I’m 19 and I just got my driving license
If you can afford the insurance then yeah why not haha - I bought my first TT when I was 20, insurance was only £750 for the year! I went for the 1.8 back then though
Great content and delivery.
I am about to buy one second hand, any advice?
Thanks Pat - just double check the MOT and service history
Try to get one with comfort & sound pack
Great video 😃😃😃. Does the car come with lumbar support. Also can you upgrade to Apple CarPlay retrospectively. 😃😃
I've got lumbar support on my car but this may be due to the comfort & sound pack, or the super sports seats. I'm not convinced it's a standard spec item
Yes you can add apple car play too
“You shouldn’t use your phone anyway” he says with his phone on his lap 😂
guuuuilllltyyyy
I’m planing on purchasing a 2019 model this next week. Since you made this video about a year ago. Is the car still reliable and do you still like it?
Never had any issues and still loving it! Do the right thing and make the purchase haha
James what’s the phone holder your using please?
No idea mate, I got it from Halfrauds haha
Hi James! Please, do you know how to replace the back-plate-light on the TT? Cheers from Qatar.
Really sorry but I don't know, I need to replace my one too!!
What phone mount are you using on your dash? I haven't been able to find one that sticks properly to my TT. Been through a few failures!
I got it from Halfrauds actually - took a bit of heat to get it to stick but I've not had any issues at all
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What phone mount do you use on the dashboard?
Not sure the exact make but it was from Halfords
how much did this spec of car cost
Just under £20k - direct from Audi
I haven't talked to you for quite a while.
How to tell if the normal Audi TT Mk3 has Quattro? I want the normal one but really afraid seller just trying to take advantage by saying the car has it. Really appreciate if you can teach me to spot it.
On the passenger side interior airbag (on the dashboard), there will be a quattro badge!
Good luck!
@@JamesCF10 Thank you for answering my question mate! Cheers
14 MPG or 40 MPG?
Tu as acheté ou ton support iPhone ? Merci d’avance
I just used one from Halfords, I'm not sure if you have that shop in France
Considering buying one but can’t decide between the Quattro with the s tronic or the FWD manual. Prefer a manual but definitely feel I would prefer the Quattro. Have u driven the FWD version for comparison?
Definitely go Quattro if you can. The resale is better, it's safer, launches harder as is more tuneable if you decide to get a remap.
When you're driving around normally, the Quattro is basically FWD any way, it's only when you floor it or start to lose grip going around a corner that the Quattro system kicks in
@@JamesCF10 thanks mate, I came to the same conclusion and test driving the Quattro tomorrow!
@@Billythekid0716 You're gonna love it!
@@JamesCF10 hope so bro
@@JamesCF10 test drive went well, the car is amazing. Problem is I also tested an s3 and loved that just as much! (Both Quattro s tronic). The TT FELT quicker 0-60 (not sure it should be) and you can’t question the quality, everything inside and out has the wow factor. The s3 I felt had better handling, although they both felt similar. Think I’ll take a couple of weeks on it but thanks again for your videos mate, they’ve been really helpful and the misses is definitely on your side as she wants the TT! Haha
I have no idea how you do all those things in Audi, perhaps a video, please?
What things exactly?
@@JamesCF10 all the tech stuff, how to call people, send he destination to the car etc, I'm still using my phone for everything.
Which phone holder are you using?
No idea mate, I got it from Halfrauds
40MPG! -Happy with 20 with mine :)
😂😂😂 that was on the motorway...around town...no chance 😂
Squady! love this video looking forward to that shite american car :P
hahah yeah its soooooooo bad!
How many miles did the car have when you bought it? Cheers
Around 30,000
@@JamesCF10 cheers James, I’m looking to buy one myself. Is there anything you would recommend to look at when purchasing a second hand 2015 mk3 TT?
@@maxporter4344 I'm not too much of a mechanic, but what I would say is make sure it's got full service history, and try to get one with tech pack and comfort & sound pack 👌🏾 Game changing spec 🙌🏾
@@JamesCF10 cheers James🙌
first impression was, this needs a remap
hahah Video incoming 👀👀

🤣🤣🤣 Sincere apologies - work has taken over my life
I couldn't get that last comment
The water in the boot is so annoying haven't had the since an old xr3i.
It's so frustrating I swear 😂
Lowered on Eibachs with spacers (15mm front/20mm rear) Honeycomb grill and black badges. Window tint/Stage 1/exhaust . Please don't put it on air or I'll unsub. Subtle mods please.
Couldn't agree more - absolutely no chance of putting it on air hahaha you're safe here! I've just ordered the honeycomb grill and I'll have a remap in the new year 👌🏾 Stick around - there's a lot coming!
Also, if you have any links to springs & spacers feel free to drop me a message on IG
@@JamesCF10 great to hear...looking forward to seeing more 👍
