I love your information. Thank you for sharing these videos. Peas, beans, pea starch, legumes, potatoes and sweet potatoes have replaced the grains as the carbohydrate in most dog foods. These block the function of taurine. Taurine deficiency and dilated cardiomyopathy Dogs do not need peas and potatoes in their diet Dogs have been eating grains for over 23,000 years My dog is 11 year old and can run eight miles at 10mph She eats chicken beef vitamins and cod liver oil And a small amount of iams puppy Don't go with food fads Don't touch anything that says meat and animal derivatives Because the food will have come from rendering plants that take in euthanized pets and anything dead including diseased and fallen stock It's not very complicated to feed your dog Don't understand why people can't figure it out for themselves
When I learned that the CEO of Pfizer is a veterinarian, and that the vaccines for dogs and cats have been using mRNA technology (non disclosed) it wasn't that hard to put two and two together. We have no way to find out what's in our pets' vaccines, and when I asked about it, I got tremendous anger from the vet. I do make my own cat and dog food.
Wow. While I am not an anti-vaxer, just a "be responsible and educated, vax when necessary, only" type, anything associated with Pfeizer makes my skin crawl. Gut instincts were given to us for a reason!
I am stuck between a rock and a hard place...the rescue I work at uses all kinds of donations, of course, bc we have to feed these guys. But theyre against grain free. I am going to show them this and really study up. Kibble has gotten Outrageously priced.
It has and sadly in some places in US and canada people are abandoning their pets because groceries are also skyrocketing. It’s crazy too that a 12 inch bully stick os about $14 or more canadian. Just for 1.
@@JanineMKartist That's insane pricing! I thought in Australia where I am it's bad enough a pack of 5 of those is $30 they are half the size too. A budget can only stretch so far even with avoiding such treats and going for something else so my heart goes out to the people of Canada.
I just recently found your channel and just subscribed. I am horrified to hear the vet mention Royal Canin dog food as I feed my 1 year old Olde English Bulldogge that food (Royal Canin Bulldog Food) and thought I had done the proper research to find the best possible food for him. He has no current health problems and the food did seem to cure his dry nose problems when I switched him from his puppy food to this food, however it does have some wheat and wheat gluten and brewers rice. Is this food just overpriced trickery from the pet food industry? If anyone could chime in on this who has knowledge of the Olde English Bulldogge breed, I would sure appreciate it. Thank you for your videos Rachel !
I have no special knowledge of that breed, but I do know humans, and gluten is not something they should be eating if they care about their health. And that goes double for their dogs.
So I have a 2year old female boxer who has horrible allergy issues. She on prescription kibble and Apoquel and still itchy. I’m ordering a raw food for her, but am worried about the DCM because she’s a boxer and genetically prone to it. What can I do to ensure she doesn’t get DCM from raw food without grains? Can I add them, a supplement, anything??? I realize the whole grain free is bad fad was all a scam, but anything I can do to make sure she doesn’t develop it.
A couple of years ago my Bordenese( large breed 106 lbs) passed away from DCM..He was about 14 and a half years. He was on a grain free for years and doing well. I made food supplemented with Taurine, herbal, homeopathic the works. He had the prescribed meds. They made him weaker. We tried everything. The majority of food at all the pet stores contained the so called ingredients that were causing problems. All of my pets have crossed rainbow bridge. They were large breed 14, 15, 16 and 17 years. One had cancer, leukemia, epi and myelopathy. They lived long and happy lives always coming first in our family. I think that the industry needs to really do their research thoroughly before creating this situation. The vets out here are still saying the same thing. Do your homework and have a game plan.
I switched to no grain because of the chemicals in the grain. You can see on my channel my dog suffering for years from chemical spray drift. The farmers are constantly mixing the concoction of chemicals because the weeds are resilient. People and animal suffering tremendously. Being told it don’t drift And it’s safe. When the federal government just banned.Dicamba for this very reason. The farmers don’t care about warning, labels or their neighbors.
Mars is absolutely shady behind the acquisition of Orijen. Right after the acquisition, they changed the ingredients by adding more "meals" instead of using fresh meat/fish.
So. Would Carbohydrates also make a dog CRAAAZY like ADHD?! Sugars from the breakdown of carbs? I Know my friends doggle, pit/lab mix is rnrrgetic snyway, but id swear theres some Whippet in her. He got her from a client that kids grew and gone. A puppy when youngest kis was about 14. / 15, so the dog then spent most time crated, ( no more, she has a couch , ) He takes her everywhere, shecis 5/6 now.. its been 3 years with her. And SHE BOOKS!!! first time she was around, but 3 days running around tge areea. She got a chicken st a neighbors but im not sure if she was stunned by it or just got hungry, but i got her across the street from that house . She too string for me to Walk, or bring to a park to run.. im hoping to get her "swomming" like his old doggle used to. He sweats by purina, yellow bag, she likes it,, but WOW! She becomes the problem child. . so she is on a leash outside. I got her a sound collar, with a key fob remote. he wouldnt use it.. ( two years later, is talking about it, because she goes for his daughters neighbors chickens. I think he said she "gets" them. But when i dog sit, i feed her differently, 4/8 oz meat. 4beef,8 chicken.. ill give her some vegtables, a few berties some melon. On tip of a handful of the dogfood. And she is way more controllable. I think she NEEDS TO BOOK. its like watching a Deer.. jumps up and tuens midair, and runs like 25mph. Wont come.. so i just go back inside and start cooking till she sneaks in for begging, then close the door. And REWATD HER WITH A BITE AND CUDDLE "GOOD GIRL FOR COMING BACK IN. but he wouldnt approve of guving her table food for one, and praise second for taling off She had bad original parents. And they got her for the kids, who did not take her when they moved out. So she was loved, but not much interacted with. But. Am i right on the dog food carbs?? Can it make a dog more hyper? My friend has had dogs all 55 years of his life. Hunting, boating, trapping, going to work as a plummer. Always rescues or takeovers. And never has he had such a hard time getting to alpha in them. She is also a trasher .. lol got to lock the trash bin inside. She wint donit when your looking, waits till you fall asleep. So i know she isnt "simple" i dont think costcof dog foods an issue for him, but im ready to soend what he pays me to care for her a few times a week on sirloins. Lol
There was no dog food before a point in time like the 70's dogs ate what the people ate and that included grains and dogs were way healthier back then reguarly lived into there 20 's .
Yes yes yes! And the grains are mainly coming from China, even if the food is ‘made’ (processed) in the US. Yep! Our government agencies work independently and are biased towards their boards-- members who are mainly invested in China and trying to buy up farmland here and make in GMO. Wow. Good work! Wonderful channel!!!🎉❤
There is no difference between grain free and grain foods for dogs. Both types of foods contain sugar. Grain free food have dried fruit which is literally sugar. The key is making sure your dog gets plenty of exercise.
Didn't even the fda say legumes were the link to dcm and not grain free. All the grain free brands added legumes instead of grains. So basically they replaced one cheap carb with another. The vets and fda states foods high in legumes and potatoes may cause dcm. So isn't the simple solution to remove legumes and potatoes but still keep it grain free. No one has ever said it was the lack of grains that caused DCM. Very deceptive tactics by all involved.
@@jcbeastt The honest kitchen whole grain chicken & Oat recipe small breed blend . They also have dry kibble that you mix with water and it becomes moist If your dog dog don't like dry kibble.
We should not be talking about what is the best brand of dog food, just like human nutrition doesn't revolve around feeding a certain brand of food but instead macros, calories, ingredients etc. So. Let's say protein carbs fats. What type and how much of each is best? We probably don't need to feed any carbohydrates but just meat can get expensive so maybe we can include some cheap filler carbs. Would raw mince beef mixed with basmati rice be a good diet? Would i need to add some vegetables and maybe a litte bit of low GI berries? People stop talking about brands and start only talking about ingredients, macros and calories.
Karma will take care of those big bad players, sooner or later. Before I found any of these videos on pet health, I just switched my new foster pup off Purina Adult Complete, which is what he was fed in the pound. He wouldn't eat half the time until I started putting moist toppers and/or chicken broth on his kibble. He had itching and dandruff, which is why I switched to Loyal Life Grain Free Salmon. He still itches some, but his coat looks fabulous, and now I'm adding a little raw goat milk daily, which has nature's antihistamine, hoping that will help. (I am looking for an even better kibble to rotate to that has better processing methods.) Now many pets are getting sick from Purina, among other brands, so the switch was just in time. People don't realize if we are feeding non-organic grains in our dog's diet, there's a high risk of feeding him/her grains that were sprayed with herbicides, or that was grown in soil that retains those toxic sprays for years. I won't eat non-organic corn or wheat, so why would I feed that to my fur baby? I can not afford organic kibble, nor organic raw food, so I opt for grain free kibble with select ingredients and add meat and seafood toppers for a percentage of his diet. Dogs don't eat grains in nature... it's a filler.
I have a Papillon, I have done so much research to find a food that is as healthy as I can. I recommend Carna4, Smack CaniSource Grand Cru or fresh cooked food!
Next time please interview of veterinarian that knows the research. This veterinarian was heavy on thought experiments and very light on actual research. She said, "I don't know" too many times
See Matt 15 : 27 Niv bible . Dogs must have grains, or they will develop heart problems . Listen , just about everything you hear or read today , TV radio , internet is false there is no truth out there as a great man of God predicted for our modern times about 4000 yrs ago. See Isa 59 : 15 Niv bible . Also , you have to make an effort to find truth not just be lazy accept what others say who will lead you astray .
don't own animals if you don't feed species appropriate. if you have questions, ask an expert. that means someone who not only breeds, but has competed with their animal. in dogs, it'll be apbt, greyhound, and sled dogs. now, they may not answer you, but they won't bs you. dogs don't swim in the ocean for sardines, oysters, etc and they don't nibble on sesame seeds or 'toppers.' they will nibble on grass, nuts, and berries etc. cows get goiters from corn feed, a king cobra will look sick and/or die if you feed it mice..... dogs eat meat, whole animals or %'d out. if someone doesn't like it, go get a fish.... then feed it correctly. you can't feed a tiger mcdonalds because you think it gives him all the necessary dietary vitamins and nutrition. kibble is around 30% nutrition, so even the worst 'unbalanced' raw diet is better. a perfectly nutritioned and conditioned athlete on a chain isn't animal abuse, but feeding couch potatoes a bad diet to enrich 'vets' and animal companies, surely is....
Whether you believe it or not the men who wrote the bible were inspired by God and "interestingly" the book advocates grains for dogs . See Matt 15 : 27 [Niv] bible Also , recent science articles are showing grains are very important for dogs . Google it !!!
I stared feeding my puppy Carna 4 with cooked meals toppers from the dog’s farm. I’m so excited to see my puppy changes in the next months after feeding her only purina for her first 4 months of life 😭🥹
UPDATE. I had to stop giving her meal topper of real food because she stared having anal gland discharge, it would happen during her sleep, in the car, in the sofa, so no good.. Idk if it’s because she’s still 7 months or bc she’s just used to eat kibble but any real food I give her gives her the gland issue. Other than that she loves her food, her coat changed and became shinier and healthier, and her poop texture is perfect 70% of the times.
@@MichelleSussett I found my puppy gets diarrhea if she doesn't have some vegetables and grains (I home cook so her veges and grain is just a small amount), some dogs just don't do well on some diets.

I put the boned rabbit back in with it all, add sone honey and DE. My wife bags it up per one days feeding and freezes it. Are we on the right track here?
Bones are an excellent source of calcium, but they must be raw. Cooking bones softens them and allows them to splinter 😬
@@jonnyincognito899 We don't give them the bones. How does the rest of it sound to you?
Don’t forget dog food needs to be balanced with meat, organ and bone for essential nutrients. I would cut the brown rice. Replace with pumpkin.
@@jessicak1239 Thank you for answering and your tip.
@@ontimethatsme there are a lot of good guides on TH-cam. I’m currently learning how to feed my dogs a raw diet on TH-cam alone.
Glad I watched a little more, I was about to go nuts thinking the DMV was supporting the FDA claim 😀
Do you have any reviews on Against The Grain Nothing Else! canned dog food?
Thank you ❤
Why does Stella and chewey allow avocados in their ingredients? Is it safe?
Great video. Is fromm 4 star beef gain free okay?
its not bias its a pay off. greed now killing animals the same way its been killing us for decades.
thank you both for ur courage and dedication to this topic. much respect
Where is the FDA statement? I can’t find it.
What food for a Maltese?
Peas, beans, pea starch, legumes, potatoes and sweet potatoes have replaced the grains as the carbohydrate in most dog foods. These block the function of taurine. Taurine deficiency and dilated cardiomyopathy
Dogs do not need peas and potatoes in their diet
Dogs have been eating grains for over 23,000 years
My dog is 11 year old and can run eight miles at 10mph
She eats chicken beef vitamins and cod liver oil
And a small amount of iams puppy
Don't go with food fads
Don't touch anything that says meat and animal derivatives
Because the food will have come from rendering plants that take in euthanized pets and anything dead including diseased and fallen stock
It's not very complicated to feed your dog
Don't understand why people can't figure it out for themselves
Literally lol. I feed royal canin with homemade food and he's doing great now
I was feeding my dog grain free and he started having heart problems. I stopped and he he's fine. He's a puppy though.
That explains things!
What you've just said is total nonsense conspiracy related
@ Which part is nonsense? These are facts.
Great video. TY!
My old dog got a Cytopoint shot every other month and it made the itchiness disappear !
What are your thoughts on the higher carb % in Carna4? Looking to move from Origin.
Carna4 is is among her top recommended dog kibbles.
Orijen amazing grains good? I
Can you talk about Nestle and Royal Canin funding the DCM studies?
I switched to no grain because of the chemicals in the grain. You can see on my channel my dog suffering for years from chemical spray drift. The farmers are constantly mixing the concoction of chemicals because the weeds are resilient. People and animal suffering tremendously. Being told it don’t drift And it’s safe. When the federal government just banned.Dicamba for this very reason. The farmers don’t care about warning, labels or their neighbors.
New subscriber from CT and I love your content 💯 Keep up the good work
Mars is absolutely shady behind the acquisition of Orijen.
15, so the dog then spent most time crated, ( no more, she has a couch , )
He takes her everywhere, shecis 5/6 now.. its been 3 years with her.
And REWATD HER WITH A BITE AND CUDDLE "GOOD GIRL FOR COMING BACK IN.
but he wouldnt approve of guving her table food for one, and praise second for taling off
She had bad original parents.
Lol
fda -- paid them well and they will make you rich but u need to split the profit.
what do i feed my golden dooldole
The key is making sure your dog gets plenty of exercise.
finally someone making sense in all this!!
Hi what about iams is that a bad one anyone had any experience with that…
Didn't even the fda say legumes were the link to dcm and not grain free.
These companies should sue the FDA
I have to do grain free because my pup is allergic to grain so🤷🏾♀️
I have two French bulldogs and they're just allergic to grains
Mine has been very allergy-prone since I switched her to grain. Constant struggle finding the best food. 😞
@@Its-Angelawhat are you currently feeding your frenchies right now?

@@Its-Angelathank you very much
Yet Champion/Orijen released a grain inclusive formula and some will only recommend this version! 🤦🏾♂️
thank you for these informational nutrition discussions. so grateful. Carol
What are they eating, but my most important question is: how many vaccinations or multidose injectables has each animal received???
Are legumes bad? I’ve herd that’s the thing to look out for.
I believe legumes are bad if they're used to much and to supplement protein instead of animal protein.
Wow, just unreal. And Mars who bought Orijen and Acana will now lessen the quality of those foods and not tell the consumers.
Is there Seeds oil, Oats and wheat Free?
cuz these are slowly killing them dogs.
Dobermans are high risk for DCM have had two die from that
What were you feeding them?
Blessings and wow just more great information once again thank you much and I appreciate it much God Bless
I feed my dog Carna4
What breed do you have, and is it as good as other people say it is?
I have a Papillon, I have done so much research to find a food that is as healthy as I can. I recommend Carna4, Smack CaniSource Grand Cru or fresh cooked food!
Never trust the FDA
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
So can anyone clear up this "Science " talk ... Grain free is bad ?? Or it's doesn't matter??
Sorry grain free not brain free lol
Next time please interview of veterinarian that knows the research. This veterinarian was heavy on thought experiments and very light on actual research. She said, "I don't know" too many times
See Matt 15 : 27 Niv bible . Dogs must have grains, or they will develop heart problems . Listen , just about everything you hear or read today , TV radio , internet is false there is no truth out there as a great man of God predicted for our modern times about 4000 yrs ago. See Isa 59 : 15 Niv bible . Also , you have to make an effort to find truth not just be lazy accept what others say who will lead you astray .
They irony of warning others of falsehoods yet blatantly misinterprets a bible verse and its meaning.
How so ?@@roudango
don't own animals if you don't feed species appropriate. if you have questions, ask an expert. that means someone who not only breeds, but has competed with their animal. in dogs, it'll be apbt, greyhound, and sled dogs. now, they may not answer you, but they won't bs you.
dogs don't swim in the ocean for sardines, oysters, etc and they don't nibble on sesame seeds or 'toppers.' they will nibble on grass, nuts, and berries etc.
cows get goiters from corn feed, a king cobra will look sick and/or die if you feed it mice..... dogs eat meat, whole animals or %'d out. if someone doesn't like it, go get a fish.... then feed it correctly. you can't feed a tiger mcdonalds because you think it gives him all the necessary dietary vitamins and nutrition. kibble is around 30% nutrition, so even the worst 'unbalanced' raw diet is better.
a perfectly nutritioned and conditioned athlete on a chain isn't animal abuse, but feeding couch potatoes a bad diet to enrich 'vets' and animal companies, surely is....

I just got on taste of the wild few months ago now I am stopping after this bag is gone. I do add warm water, egg, Sandrine, liver, gizzard raw meats.
