The pins facing the outside is a very good design by moondrop. As a long time KZ AZ09 pro, FIIO UTWS5 user, as time goes on the contract pins start registering the the case less and less. This is probably due to oils and sweat causing contacts to become less sensitive. There are time where I take them out of the case only to find that they did not charge at all, or after putting them in the case they are still on and connected to my phone. This design I think solves that.
100% agree, that’s why I was excited about this design when I first saw it. Unfortunately, Moondrop dropped the ball with this product when it comes to performance - the constant dropouts, bad touch controls and some other problems ended up ruining the overall experience.
Thanks for the review. It gives me some illustration of what Moondrop Evo is all about. Several things on my note: - TWS Adapter for IEM will always bigger and bulkier, so please don't compare it with any straight forward TWS. TWS Adapters are only for IEM enthusiasts, not regular people. It's practical but, like me, I want to use my favorite IEM. - It's understandable for Evo to only has 2 hours of playtime because of the Dual DAC battery drainer. - I'm a TRN BT30 user and I will stick to it. The difference is BT30 uses mini amplifier on each ear piece, compared to Evo having DAC on ear ear piece. My BT30 runs about 5-6 hours depending on how heavy the connected IEM is, so it's good enough for me. I'm also surprised that Moondrop jumped the gun on Evo, because it's not yet perfect for release.
Considered these so I can commute with my Variations. But two hours only? I'm totally screwed if I'm stuck in traffic! Maybe when they revise it for an EVO2.
it's been a few month since evo released, but I haven't seen anyone reviewing the mode that it has, like the normal mode, noise-canceling, and transparency mode. I'm more curious about the transparency mode thou
@@IEMCableReviews I see, pretty weird they have ENC on the device from what I read from the website, they should've write something on the manual but there's no manual online even in the moondrop link, even evo is not yet added into their app usually if they keep the same method with their tws lineup it should be "long-press right/left for 1s to switch mode to =>regular mode =>noice-canceling => transparency mode I kinda interested with evo because my left ear kinda not fit with TWS so kinda hurts after 30 minutes use, but fine with IEM
I got a set of these as soon as they came out unfortunately my set keeps depairing from reach other leading me to have to reset them just about evertime i use em tbh wish i just saved my money
These EVO turned out to be a peace of sh!!!!t for me. What a waste of time and money 💰 from a brand name. I guess they quit making FIIO UTWS5 which I liked a lot with the application. Thank you for your time and effort. Excellent review 👍
How long do they last without a charge? Can't be 2 hours... 120mAh's for 2 hours? KZ have 50mAh's for closer to 6-8 hours. Even Fiio have better battery life at around 4-6.
It must be 120mAh combined for 60mAh each because it really isn’t much more than about 2 hours of actual listening. I’m assuming it’s the draw from the DACs that kill it. It was hard for me to say for sure how long a charge lasts because there isn’t a way to turn them off without placing them on the charger, and I don’t typically listen for more than 30 minute to an hour straight, but based on my experiences it would seem definitely well less than 3 hours per charge.
@@IEMCableReviews A shame. I wanted something for the Gym soon. I have the space travel TWS but the volume on them is so low, maybe 60% of what an actual IEM could produce so I doubt they are good outside. Might have to look into the Little White or hope someone else releases something soon. Sennheiser are working on two new TWS so maybe them.
Excuse me, can I ask you something? I think the Moondrop Evo have an app to change DSP settings right? (I think Little white have em) Does the app provide meaningful change? Also does it able to change the L/R sound balance of the iem, I'm thinking if buying these kind of tws adapter to "fix" the inbalance issue of my Noble Katana.
No because my left side died the day after, and then magically works again after I left it for a week. Also I keep getting audio cutout when using them out in public, gotta be interference issue.
i don't know why anyone would use this when you can just get BTR15 for the same Money Better sound better fit longer battery life there's just no comparison

There are no modes like that on the EVO. It has no active noise-cancelling or transparency features.

If FiiO made a 2 pin version of the UTW I bet it would be a winner.
@@IEMCableReviews actually the utws5 is available in mmcx and 2pin 0.78mm
Thanks for reviewing bt ear hooks
Will you review TRN BT20 Pro ?
I’ll keep an eye out for it.
Hi. bought one after my utws5 died. how do i know if the adapters are fully charged?
The light underneath each earhook when on the charger should turn off when charged.

Can you fit the iem that you are useing in the case?
Yes

Strangely the Evo does not connect to the Moondrop Link app at all.
Sweat proof?
Couldn’t find any mention of anything, I would say no.

I agree, but there’s still a cable between the IEM and the BTR1.
100 EUR down the drain for me mine can't keep the right one connected.
Ouch that sucks
@@IEMCableReviews that's what I get for buying from AlieExpress. not sending back from Belgium to China
I have this problem too with the left one. Defective product, and I'm usually a fan of Moondrop.
