I think the Moondrop phone is genius. It could function as a backup phone or a "burner phone" / DAP. I'm really thinking about adding one to my collection. Great review Dave!
@@-aexc- for me the v60 works great as a dap - it's super slim. However, it isn't small! Something like the Sony A306 or the new A307 is a lot more pocketable. But I have my v60, and love it and don't need to buy another dap (I have an A&K that's a brick!). I also have an old LG v20 would is smaller and a lovely device (even has removable battery). The 3.5mm output is subtly different to the v60 (different ESS sabre quad dac and tuning).
I got a pair of EVOs and they’re awful. One earpiece is always drained. Shenzen audio said they sent me a replacement so we’ll see if this set actually works.
@@LorenzoFrausto As someone who bought them on launch, they sucked. The hype is so high, paper stats are decent, the mics were ass, the noise cancelling shit, and the build quality was so terrible. MANY reports of right side unit specifically going nonresponsive (including mine)
I still hope for the classic DAP form factor with phone functionality with rotary volume knob, playback buttons, standard and balanced audio jack. a bit chunky but maintain big battery. like they did back then with Sony Ericsson Walkman, Nokia Xpress Music or Motorola Rocker
Would you say for purely as a dap use, Hiby R4 is better? Although this has better battery life and which I think might be worth it even if a dap can sound a bit better.
Really like the idea of the phone but I'm at a point where I want to split up my smartphone into 3-4 separate devices.. Any info on software and security updates?
Honestly, given how... uniquely bad moondrop are with software, I'm quite surprised out of all things, a phone is going to be their next product. I mean, even their app for their own tws and dac cable is still buggy as all hell, I honestly don't expect the phone to be bug free as well.
Excuse me, can I ask you something? I think the Moondrop Evo have an app to change DSP settings right? (I think Little white have em) Does the app provide meaningful change? Also does it able to change the L/R sound balance of the iem, I'm thinking if buying these kind of tws adapter to "fix" the inbalance issue of my Noble Katana.
Nice review. Are those Pilgrims you're using? How many years of OS and security updates? Moondrop don't have a great track record with updates. Did you say 2hrs battery life for the EVOs?! And the phone when using iems? (Andy Audio Vault did a 30min review a few weeks ago and there were definitely bugs it wiped his sd card like you mentioned. Is there a recent Moondrop software update?). I'm sticking with a dongle and robust phone. Though also have a superb LG v60:)
Thanks for the review on the Moondrop phone! Been eyeing this for a bit. Quick question, do you know which carriers in the U.S work with the Moondrop phone?
I got the miad early last week and I can say it’s quite good… streaming music only the battery lasts more than a day easily ( the display shows 2+ days sometimes ) Actively using as a smartphone, using WhatsApp / internet The battery lasts around 8-10h
Yee google wallet dosent work for me but no problem with google pay. Android auto does not seems to work but everything else seem to work fine. Video and photo are not at pro level , but no problem to take fine photos if you got daylight outside.
What I want is a dap that takes a sim card to give me connectivity for streaming services. I don't need the phone capabilities that only adds noise in the system.
You realize the reason you need a sim for that is that both technologies use the same network,.same antennas, and therefore would induce the same "noise", right? Which, if you actually hear, my hat's off to you
Evo is disappointing considering how far other companies have come with earhooks. KZ has some with 8 hours of battery life per charge and they have less issues with connectivity. The issue with those though is they sound bad with a large noise floor.
Thank you for the review 👍 I have difficulty understanding DAP usage design that is meant for portable use and as phone as 'on-the-go' use. I always, always prefer the headphone jack output to be at the bottom of the device as i would be putting in my pocket as a phone or DAP This basic practical design requirement is a go or no go for me for real actual usage, as its going to be a device I'll take with me every single day for months and hopefully a few years on And if there are busy demanding days where you may need to charge your device, it is still practical to have all cables that connecting the device, including charging, to be on one side of the device. Personally, i feel these are basic and essential design language for products that are meant for portable as 'on-the-go' usages especially like a phone
Well the EVO looks like a bust. I already own the Fiio UTWS5 and it seems like it's still the superior option for BT hooks, I can't justify spending $400 on the iFi Go when it doesn't really do anything significantly better.
1mo with evo: look, fit and sound are nice but it sucks in all other aspects: battery, touch play/pause controls, case portability, connection stability, windows alternative a2dp driver does not show aptx hd option, moondrop app know nothing about evo.
As much as i like the idea of a smartphone dedicated for audiophiles, its not really that good as a phone imo. The bezel was sharp to my hands so its uncomfortable to hold, and the DAC/Amp at the top side make it top heavy.
2 hours of playback? That's not enough for any daily or even occasional use. I have a set of Bose ANC Bluetooth headphones that I use for air travel and they have 20 hours of playback. That will get you through the whole day of travel. Even my old little Earstudio 100 gets like 10 hours per charge. 2 hours is a joke.
GOOGLE MAPS GPS ACCURACY IS NEVER GOOD, I ALWAYS HAVE TO RE OPEN GOOGLE MAPS TO HAVE AQ PRECISE AUTOMATIC GPS TRACKING , ITS THE DEFFINITION OF MIDDDDD, UI IS ASS , THE CAMERA IS BOOTY , THE FINGER SCANIS MEH ,,,, 6.8 / 10
I hope fiio makes an android phone with an ess sabre dac like the fiio r7 with the thx aaa 788 amp with a 3.5 mm and 4.4 pentaconn connector similar to the moon drop MIA D01 android phone. Maybe even a woo audio tube mini android phone.
That is one of the cleanest looking phones I've ever seen. Matches the space travel perfectly

I'm sticking with an LG v60 as a backup and dap.
@@Amuk-mn3ni i love my v60 but it is way way too big for a dap imo. so i pretty much never end up using it

FiiO utws5 is the best, but I can’t find it anymore 😢

Those evo's make KZ's earhooks look usable
I use the KZ regularly, as well as the TRN. 🎧
Is it that bad?
It is.... Mine lasted maybe 10seconds between disconnecting...
I dont get why Moondrop can't maintain the most updated bluetooth version, when everything about theor creation and design is futuristic lmao

All my bluetooth devices lose connection at about 25ft. Sounds normal. Nice review by the way.
🎉I love these videos! The atmosphere, the draws with his IEM and Dacs alike and the music 🎵🎶🎉 Thank you 🙏🏾 oh and of course the best 🥳 part. His dog 🐕
Finally,the Miad 01 review🥲
Thanks for watching!
Is the digital noise when interacting with apps in both the 3.5mm and 4.4mm jacks, or only the 3.5mm?
cute doggo
Aww thanks. He's awesome! Thanks for watching!

Hold up, I didnt realize Gizaudio had different hosts.
No no. We're the same person.
yeah, 1 specifically in DAC/DAP & the other only on IEMs
I wonder how the MIAD performs vs the OG of DAC of good quality in a phone, LG.
especially vs *LG V60* 🧐
I don't recall LGs having 4.4mm port.
Shoot, they don't need new products right now, they need to focus on shipping all the Dusk orders lol.

How does the Moondrop Evo compare to Lypertek Tevi (pureplay z3) ?
Here we go!
Make it under 6 inches and we'll buy it.

Allow me to laugh, lol.. 😊
Are there any hisses or noise issues like other bluetooth modules?
My AZ09 Pro's and BTX's do not hiss. Fantastic noise floor on these Qualcomm QCC3040 equipped sets.
if only they made this smaller (S24ish) with flat screen...

No ldac on the evo, lame
He said 2 hours and I blacked out. What did he say after that?
I'm sorry... Did you say 2 hours? That's a hard pass.
Was looking forward to the EVO but after looking at a couple of reviews it looks like a half baked product.
Y'know, it ain't as bad as being on a Samsung S12e and blowing my ears out at any level above 20% volume!
🤔
Two hours? A loser out of the box. SQ, dropouts, overall mediocrity? Stick it in a tin, douse with lighter fluid and smoke it up.
David, thank you for another wonderful review! 👌

Phone price pass more phone is better than that like techno camon 30 pro , Poco f6 and Poco x6 pro.
