Screen Space Reflections are a different way to get reflections however these are by far not as accurate as done with Light Probes, if you don't get reflection with Reflections turned off, there might be something wrong elsewhere, most likely the correct positioning of you Light Probe.
Iv been doing blender 3 days now I have burning eyes feeling tired but feel it will all be worth, watching all your videos, feeling exhausted, amazing talent mate u have
This was a perfect video! It explained clearly and concisely exactly what I was looking for in a way that I will actually remember. Thank you for doing that you do. Keep it up!
so in my impatience, I started and got nowhere, then read a few comments and got a little farther, then watched the whole video...might learn patience one of these days. thanks!
I also struggled with Eevee and I discovered that my problem was caused by the roughness value of Glossy BSDF. It doesn't works with a value of zero(0). It worked perfectly with a value of 0.005. In addition, Screen Space Reflections is absolutely not nessary. I use version 2.93
Thanku for this help, I am doing a short movie in which a parallel mirrors shot were required but cycles takes 1hour to render one frame. This will helps a lot.
Hi! the plane that is gonna be the mirror must be receiving light from a "shift+a > light" object, try that and move the reflection plane near the surface of the mirror object, it also helps to check the shadow and contact shadows box ;) my insta @cassianoebe
So, TL;DR version: 4:20 Reflection in EEVEE = Light Probe, reflection plane (for this one) THANK YOU! BTW what about the Cubemap one, and Irradiance vol.? How to use it?
Is there any way to make the eevee version (with the reflection plane and light probe) work for infinity mirrors? Or do infinities only work in cycles?
hi, again.I used this prefectly. but for only one mirror. If I try to make second light probe for second mirror, Blender 3.01 does not response anymore. Do you have any idea about this?
My rendered view shows the full reflection in evee but when i render the image.... Theres no reflection or even the reflection plane..... I dont know what has gone wrong
Great tip thanks for the tutorial. Have you tried this with environmental HDR background for your lighting? And does the light probe have any adjustments if you don't want full reflection? Someone might want a partial reflection for certain applications.
If you have something metal that is not totally clear like a slightly brushed silver tea pot or similar items. I call this a partial reflection or maybe a blurred one. The HDR environment map while the transparency is turned off in the render tab sill reflects on objects like the hood of a car or window. You can see the world map slightly blurred on the hood of the car. I am trying to figure out how you turn of the world HDR map from any kind of reflection and still have the objects near the tea pot or car door have a slight or blurred reflection on these objects? But this may be a question for the forums.
How can I create an infinite reflections with Bounces in Eevee Blender 3.0 ? Somehow the render properties and Light path options changed Thanks a lot for this 😀
Be sure to modify the Screen Space Reflections values in Eevee engine to remove artifacts and "crop like" effects ;) (in case it happens on your scene, of course)
hello friend, could you tell me how can I hide the area lights so that they can't be seen through the mirror material? I have almost the same scene but I don't want those area lights to be visible through the mirror, but still illuminate the scene, could you help me please?
Seems to me that the EEVEE solution leaves a lot to be desired. First, you have to create a new object (the probe) and position and scale it for every surface that you want to be reflective. I'm assuming that you can parent that object to the reflective plane so if you move it, the reflection probe goes with it. Second, is the reflection probe only available as a flat plane? Personally, I'd prefer to get rid of the separate plane objects entirely and have the reflective probe available as a material or shader option that could then be applied to any object. Problem solved.
This is a pretty standard solution in most real-time rendering programs due to limitations in software at the moment. I don't think it can be done with a shader because it's specifically telling the engine where to calculate reflections from an area standpoint, but it's really not a lot of extra work. In fact, it kind of makes you actually think about where you need to see reflections in your renderings...
Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions about this tutorial in the comments below! :)
Can we do this in eevee?
@@shamspahlowan6851 they literally showed how
I have a question. Os it possible this trick could work with making windows in eevee
hey! great video but how to get only reflections with surface transparency
I also didnt use a reflection plane as it still showed results
Man, are you reading mind or something? Second time it happens, that I have an issue and your video just pops up and serves the need! Thanks a lot! :)
Lol - I think you and I just happened to be looking for the same thing at the same time :p
For those struggling to get any results. Make sure Screen Space Reflections are on in the render settings
thank you do much i was so confused

Thank you! Great work! I can render mirrors now. I like the way you explained what was going on while you showed us what to do.
This was a perfect video! It explained clearly and concisely exactly what I was looking for in a way that I will actually remember. Thank you for doing that you do. Keep it up!
Glad it was helpful!
Woah thank you so much, you all have a tutorials about every problem that I encounter in blender
Thank you for including the evvee section! My PC only likes eevee right now lol
Awesome tutorial! Thanks for making these so straight forward. It really has helped a lot.
That's awesome....I've been trying to figure this out forever. Thank you!
I am so glad you demonstrated how to do this effect in eevee, my potato pc did not like cycles
Oh my god !!! THANKYOU SO MUCH !!! i was in trouble with this!
You rock dude! Thank you for the tutorial, I didn't know this could be done and It helped me create a mirror box.
so in my impatience, I started and got nowhere, then read a few comments and got a little farther, then watched the whole video...might learn patience one of these days. thanks!
Thank you so much. All of your tutorials are great 💖
this was a wonderful video! thank you for making a SHORT and easy tutorial, you are great!!!

Thank you! Didn't thought it would be that simple 😅
Amazing amazing tutorial tysm!! is it possible to make the image in the mirror to be seen upside down?
thank you soo much for the tutorial!
No problem 😊
Your vudeos are wesome thanks

super cool explanation! thank you a lot!
I am so grateful for this. Thank you 😊💓
Glad it was helpful!
i cannot use the reflecction plane, nothings happens when i do it, there is not reflecction (
U need to make the reflection *plane* intersect closely with the floor or mirror u r using

Thanks for the straight forward tutorial!
You're great! Thanks for the great videos!

easy & great illustration.. thx.
The reflection plane didn't work for me.
Great video! Learned a lot!

Amazing!
Thank you for teaching
Thanks for watching!
Super curious to know what (if anything) happens with parallel mirrors…or mirrors at right angles…
Thank you)!

how to enable the visibilty of the lights in the mirror
hey! great video but how to get only reflections with surface transparency?
yes, it is help me. i'm viewer 76.697. thanks a lot
My rendered view shows the full reflection in evee but when i render the image.... Theres no reflection or even the reflection plane..... I dont know what has gone wrong
Many hours i was thinking why my mirror is broken and now i see that eevee can't make light reflection. Thanks
thank you for this fantastic info. subbed :)
Thanks for the sub!

When I turned the roughness down, it's only reflecting the world and not the model that I have in front of it. Any tips?
many thanks 🇮🇹🇺🇸✌👍
:)
Tried both Eve and Cycles, nothing happens, blender 2.9
hi ... but how can i hide the reflection of the lights in the mirror in cycles ? is there any way to hide the two lights ... the two white boxes ?
Thanks Man
Thanks you !
No problem!
yeah and now the phiscally correct way would be great :D
Cool but this comparison could also incluce Screenspace Reflections method for Eevee :)
the eevee mirror works on planes tho

if i want to moving the mirror object, how to link the reflection plane?
Genius!

Helpful thanks
