I'm at level 26-28 and still can't beat these assholes. Been stuck here for a week. F$%^! *UPDATE* - I went for Arkhos solely and said to EVERYone to attack him only. After half his health is gone, cutscene. Rest of the fight was nothing. Level 27 on average. Used anchor a lot. Did specials when I could. Pulled off some break/topples too. Hard but doable.
To all the comments on the acting being bad.... Um, honestly? I wouldn't call this anything amazing, but this part feels a lot better already than the opening scenes. Rex is still a bit shaky, but Pyra's great, and the villains in general seem to be fine as well. It's not a bad dub, it's not amazing, but its passable.
The characters’ lip sync is synced to the Japanese version of the game, and it’s not worth the time or effort to reanimate hours and hours of cutscenes for the American audience. Just like Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward, as another example.
My problem with it is just the occasional overlapping voice that you know should not be. It hurt a little bit, but that only happens now and again, and didn't happen in this particular scene
People saying no work was put into the cutscenes, just take in these ones. Amazing, and impactful, music is well used too. As for the lip sync, it’s synched with the Japanese version, and reanimating it for English isn’t worth the time and effort. Kinda like Zero Escape: VLR, as another example of that. I legitimately struggled in the first half of the fight, but after getting Mythra, I PLOWED through the both of them, it was truly satisfying and a well made moment. Also VA is just fine, we don’t need to create a “VA is bad” bandwagon.
Sky Spyer Honestly the lip syncing is the only thing that bothered me in the cutscenes. I think the voice acting is great, my only complaint with it is whenever Rex has to yell, but aside from that I love it.
Sky Spyer Every Japanese AAA game synchronises for the English dub so *it is worth the effort*. The song in the background was poorly chosen IMHO, wonder if you've played other Japanese games before... or story-driven games?
honestly the cutscene at the end here made me actually quite like Akhos, I feel like his VA did a much better job selling the impact Obrona's death had on him than Rex's VA did with Vandham's (I understand it was Rex's VA's first game role but that doesn't change the fact that Akhos's VA simply did better in this scene).
I equipped the accessories that reduce the effect of taunts by 60% and shackled drive arts by 60% I also have humoniod damage increased by 20% just focus on akhos malos will try to taunt your party into attacking him just use the above mentioned accessory equipment and the humoniod aux core it should be alot easier it's what I did
Okay, so I discovered a little trick I like to call Attack Resetting. If your Arts aren’t getting up as fast as you need, try this. When an auto-attack goes off (I.e. A single sword swing, two punches, a chop, a shot, etc.), move the control stick a little bit so the animation stops. Then, let another attack go off. If you repeat this with proper timing, then you do auto-attack faster. It was so good that I did this boss fight without any Shackle Resist at Level 27. It helps with healing, attacking, and getting aggro. Try it!
I think this fight is a sign of how good of a battle system this game has. Lots of people have trouble even after grinding. However, if you properly understand the systems, you can beat it without having to grind at all. I think I was 24 across the board when I beat this yesterday, but that was also my second time playing through this part of the game (I made it through chapter 7 before and stopped. I decided to restart since it's been so long since I played). My first time I had as much trouble as all the people commenting. Here are my tips: - Make sure your healer ONLY has healing blades. - Make sure you've bought strong chips for all the blades you are using, and use accessories that help the roles each character fills (defense for Tora, boosted auto attacks for Rex, etc.) - With Rex, make sure you take his back and side attacks and land them whenever possible. The damage output you get from that is significant, even when you're landing blade combos alongside it. Additionally, landing them correctly fills your party meter, which gives you more revives. - Make sure to use anchor shot whenever break occurs, and make sure your allies have arts that inflict break. - Upgrade your arts and try and get affinity rewards. - Have Rex come with another Blade that can heal besides Pyra. When healing needs are desperate, switch to them: their healing art will already be ready. Also take a look at their affinity screen to check which of their specials release healing potions (usually at least one will if they are a healing blade). - Attune to more blades so that you can unlock more helpful ones, including unique blades. - Plan ahead of time which blade combos to try and go for. They should be easy to pull off (usually this means each character provides one special for the combo so that there's less waiting) and the final element isn't one you rely on for offense. Ending with ice or earth while targeting Akhos will prevent either your blades or drivers from getting shackled. For earth, earth-fire-earth is the best one since it can involve Pyra: just make sure Nia's got an earth blade. For ice, it's a lot harder since Tora can't be involved. However, fire-water-ice should be doable.

Finally managed to beat these two. I kept my entire team alive with Hp Potions from Rex's Anchor Shot and Nia's healing arts while doing damage as well with Chain attacks.
Fight went MUCh smoother on my end. Nia had a second blade which was a wind user and it opened up a lot of ass kicking. Master Blade combos, chain attacks, and well...y'know.
macibax huh, I honestly had a much easier time with this and beat them on my first shot. For combat you need to experiment more with the Driver and Blade combos, Chain specials, cancel auto attacks to arts then switch to arts again then special, and making full use of your HP potion skills.

Hey, all. I recently finished this game and am now reminiscing this boss battle. To everyone struggling with this fight, I have some good news and bad news. The bad news is (IMO) this is BY FAR the hardest story fight in the game. The good news, however, is that it's all easy street after (minus a few fights near the end). Perseverance is key here. You won't be revived unless you build the party gauge. Don't waste a chain attack unless you know how to do elemental bursts. Use shackle defense and taunt defense Aux cores. Build some blade combos. And FOR GOD'S SAKE REMEMBER YOU CAN REST AT THE INN. Good luck! P.S. - I almost gave up on this game entirely during my struggle with this fight, but XBC2 is one of my favorite games ever now, so don't stop!!!
I shit you not I beat them with level 24 team. I just upgraded Nia's jaguar slash to lvl 3 so that is has a 30% chance for it to drop 2 health potions. Well, about 30% of the time it worked which is a huge number, and that extra health potion is a life saver.
Alright! I was having the same problems, as all of you. Same levels, in this video and everything. After, constantly, getting destroyed, I finally realized Nina kept switching her Blade, so she wasn't healing anymore. So I disengaged the other Blade, I have with her, and beat them on the next try. Dromach's healing is really too strong, to miss out on. (you could also not let A.I. handle healing and take control of her, yourself) Ik I'm 2 years too late, but maybe someone will find this helpful.
I didn't use to think this this was a hard battle because in my first playthrough I beat it pretty easily, on my second playthrough (not a new game+) it took two tries, I still think it is a easy battle but the player has to pay enough attention to make sure they take akhos out first, just completely ignore Malos until Akhos is done, and creating an earth orb in Akhos also helps a lot.

Note this is what i did to first try it and may not work for others
I'm 1 level above, use blade art combos and still can't come close to beating them. It's like they're not even attacking the uploader when compared to the damage I take. I frequently have to revive my party... what am I doing wrong?
I love how non Serious malos an ahkos are because it helps sell just how fucked Rex and crew were without mythra because while team Rex are fight for their lifes malos and ahkos are joking to each they know they’ve won and if it wasn’t for mythra they would have
I can’t make it more than 5 minutes into this fight without dying. All my characters are lvl 27 or higher. Tried Rex, Nia, and Tora, like in the video, and have also tried Rex, Nia, and Vandham. Any tips? PLEASE help.
Boss Fight Database I have an “outdoor up 1” and a “humanoid up 1” on pyra. Don’t remember what’s on the others right now. Those were the best I seemed to have for the situation.
how i got through this boss was that i focused on Akhos since you only need to get one of them down below about half their hp, i generally used anchor shot a lot to keep producing potions for Nia to grab but just keep using art combos and once you have at least one element orb on him go into a chain attack. that's generally what i did to get past them.
As Boss Fight Database said, make sure you are checking your Blade's passive skills. I don't know if they aren't "officially" unlocked until you check, but it doesn't hurt to check. Give your Drivers Accessories. Mine were health increases for all three, an attack boost for Rex and Nia, and an aggro increase for Tora.Use a blacksmith to upgrade your blades. It's just changing the name, so there's not really any downsides to using the blacksmith. For the battle, make sure you focus on Akros and use a lot of potion-generating skills whenever possible. Since you will be hit by a Shackle Driver spam, having at least a potion or two on the field is always a good idea. Malos will taunt you every once in a while, but always try to go back to Akros whenever possible. Also, prioritize revival over chain attacks. I'm not saying don't EVER use chain attacks if possible, but if your teammates are near death (especially if the both of them are), as in below 600 HP or so, then it would be a good idea to save it for revival rather than dealing more hits. But trust me, it will be VERY satisfying to finally get Mythra and beat those two hard
Laeric Thomas try and get ursula i fought him when i was level 22 i just spammed her arts on akhos and i manged to get to phase 2 and used mythra to wreck them
When using a special attack like burning sword, when it tells you to press buttons at the right moment I always aim for the inner circle does it make a difference or should I change to the one?
I’m doing the same thing they are in this video and I’m higher leveled but they keep wiping me out in about a minute. Is there anything I’m doing wrong????
Sooo... I fought this boss with Vandham still in the party (everyone was Lv. 24) and after he died, I wasn’t able to put Tora back in, even after the fight and cutscenes. Can I fix this somehow?
Sort-of unrelated to the video but I just unlocked Boreas from a rare core crystal in rex, just wondering if he's really useful or not, he's the only rare blade I have
Zeltoon2's Odyssey yea I read around on gamefaqs and all that and everyone says he's good on nia and he's a rare bitball healer so I figured it would be worth the overdrive protocol and I don't regret after I unlocked him and put on nia this boss fight was piss easy, I also got dagas a while ago but replaced him with Wulfric on Rex

Let’s do this!
This boss can kick rocks
I'm 1 level above, use blade art combos and still can't come close to beating them. It's like they're not even attacking the uploader when compared to the damage I take. I frequently have to revive my party... what am I doing wrong?
Not sure if I like or hate the Va. Especially in these fights. I hear like 8 people shouting things and it's incoherrent
peoplewhoplaygames well u have the option to turn off battle cries in the settings
What is that song
nick Bongenaar Which one?
Gabriel Levey he talk about during the cutscene when Pyra transform.
nick Bongenaar drifting soul
I love how non Serious malos an ahkos are because it helps sell just how fucked Rex and crew were without mythra because while team Rex are fight for their lifes malos and ahkos are joking to each they know they’ve won and if it wasn’t for mythra they would have
i've been having problems with this boss fight
No matter how much I level up or the arts I use, this fight is unwinnable for me.
Is that Malos and Sever's level 4 special at 23:38
I think I was underleveled for this fight.
What is the name of the song?
To the people complaining about the difficult about this boss fight i can only say GIT GUD.
Vunter i'm here only to rewatch this scene
Never offer that advice. Say something actually helpful or be quiet.
Or how about instead of being a obnoxious tool you could offer helpful advice or just you know shut the hell up. :)
Clearly a Dark Souls player. Sure, this fight's a bitch, but Dark Souls is a helluva game.
Still, like you and I said, Dark Souls is a helluva game.
Mythra, the death to the blades.
I can’t make it more than 5 minutes into this fight without dying. All my characters are lvl 27 or higher. Tried Rex, Nia, and Tora, like in the video, and have also tried Rex, Nia, and Vandham. Any tips? PLEASE help.
Make sure all your blades have the newest blade cores and updates
Laeric Thomas try and get ursula i fought him when i was level 22 i just spammed her arts on akhos and i manged to get to phase 2 and used mythra to wreck them
ive been stuck at this fight for a month 😩😩 i just cant get past it and can't find the chips people are talking about...
Beat em today at level 22 with op healing from nia 🔥
Also mythra is so sexy
After all that happened to Vandham, I didn't mind with Mythra...
and im here level 27 not being able to beat it....
what if you do a mod with lila replacing akhos, malos, sever and obrona?
I feel less lame knowing other people struggled to..
Am I the only one who didnt have much trouble with the fight? I mean all i do is quickly make both of them focus solely on Tora :0
I was about 2 levels under them, no core chips on anyone, no aux cores on anyone but Pyra.
was still the hardest fight so far, but did it first try.
Artemis Kuro for me it was definitely the boss fight in the factory later, not spoiling for anyone :)
On the right section which is the arts how did you Switch it to the arrows are something like that
When using a special attack like burning sword, when it tells you to press buttons at the right moment I always aim for the inner circle does it make a difference or should I change to the one?
Kevin J The one that is lighter
I'm definitely under leveled at level 23 lol Gonna grind a bit more and try again lol
Dan Jarnutowski yeah 23 definitely isn’t enough
I beat em at 22 lmaoooo get rekd
12:32 what is Luigi doing there?
This is the biggest plot twist of the game 🤯
Difficult yes, but I beat them second try. You guys would not believe when I say I found the Zeke fight before this to be much more difficult...
I beat em in 4 tries i just made sure tora didnt die
Level 26, still stuck in this boss
this is the reason why I sold the game and I watched the rest of the story on youtube 💔
I’m doing the same thing they are in this video and I’m higher leveled but they keep wiping me out in about a minute. Is there anything I’m doing wrong????
give everyone the item that resists taunt by 60% and focus akhos down. Cutscene will trigger at like 50%.
Dartron ok thanks I’ll try that out. And dang that tip about the 50% is so relieving 😂😂
what's the item called?
is taunt the same as provoke in this game?
I was level 26 across the board and used Nia with Dromarch, was a cakewalk for me :/
I can't believe how underleved I am for this fight haha(Everyone is level 20)
Sooo... I fought this boss with Vandham still in the party (everyone was Lv. 24) and after he died, I wasn’t able to put Tora back in, even after the fight and cutscenes. Can I fix this somehow?
Did you press "X" to include him?
It worked. Thanks fam!
No problem!
During the cutscene before vandham died
WHAT IS THAT SONG CALLED
You probably found it by now, but it’s Drifting Soul
@@hernobleness I have but it's fine thank you anyway
Sort-of unrelated to the video but I just unlocked Boreas from a rare core crystal in rex, just wondering if he's really useful or not, he's the only rare blade I have
BRADOS25Z STAR thats too bad Boreas is reaallllly good but it should go to nia not bloody rex
BRADOS25Z STAR actually there is a way to change a blade's owner
Zeltoon2's Odyssey yea I read around on gamefaqs and all that and everyone says he's good on nia and he's a rare bitball healer so I figured it would be worth the overdrive protocol and I don't regret after I unlocked him and put on nia this boss fight was piss easy, I also got dagas a while ago but replaced him with Wulfric on Rex
Zeltoon2's Odyssey I already did without completing any affinity charts
The Sword got changed
Whoever having trouble I went to systems and turned the difficulty to easy after the fight I went back to normal mode
Man, i dont believe vandham actually died
Yeah, I thought that maybe they would somehow bring back a dead character like they did in the first game
this is amazing but so depressing
