About what can be expected from it but honestly I was thinking 250-300, basing it from the fuse. That's not much different than the old school price of $1/watt when there's quality amps nowadays closer to 10c/watt 😮 Ty sir for sharing your results 🤞
Good morning, way back when 8-tracks were king; if you had an amp, well you had it going on. LoL. So you had to pay a lot of 14:30 attention to enclosure size and double ensure seal / and yes even rubber coating the inside of the speaker box enclosure. Most amps back then were stereo only (not bridgeable) so it was pretty much assumed a pair of woofers would be used. No crossovers, unless you were smart enough to build your own 😎; Im guilty of that lol. I know the amp you tested was light years ahead of what I started off with. Here it goes: RCA under dash 8 track player 5 watts pep per channel. Speakers: 2 pair 6x9 RCA 3 way rated 40 watts with 15 watts nomial rating and 30 oz magnets. Woofers: 4- 8" Radio Shack 8 ohm impedance woofers. Box : as over size as I could make fit into a Karman gia VW. I don't remember the brand amp but it was rated something like 80 watts per channel rms . I had 100 watt Spark o matic power boosters on the 6x9 RCA's. Id turn it up till I heard distortion and back off the volume a bit for as clean sound as I could get. It made Ted Nugent (Stranglehold); interesting to listen to. Also Nazareth was the BOMB, Those 8' were moving air on that. LoL. Good video, but the amp sucked on power outage. 73 GOD bless Earnest K5EWM.
Was planet audio any good back in the mid 2000’s? My wife had a full planet audio build being done when I met her in 05. Ended up being $30k full fiberglass dash and trunk with eq glove box, 2 screens in the rear deck lid, ps2 and a single inverted 15 that did 151db in the db races
My guess is 520 rms, watching at 4:27 * edited after test: WOW, looks like i gave that turd WAYYY too much credit in the optimistic, magnanimus mood i was in. absoloutely abysmal, anemic, whimpy waste of money at ANY price. Planet Audio, you should be ashamed of yourself!
When companies blatantly lie about the output of their amplifiers, it really pisses me off. Just think of the newcomers to Car Audio thinking they're getting 1500 watts when they're only getting 10% of that and they don't know any different. So I immediately went to their website and emailed them about their bullshittery. I doubt I'll hear back. Too bad people can't get their attorney general on them or maybe in a class action lawsuit on these type of companies that lie like this.
let everyone know you can file for a lawsuit for false advertising and you can do it, if people like Stereo Mojo keeps making these showing proof of the false ratings the company like this can be tooking down
@@stereomojo like how did they even come up with those ratings? TBH soon as I saw a single 30A fuse I knew that 1500 was out the door. Normally you can multiply the fuse rating x10 and get a real close estimate of the actual power but in this case they used a 30A when they really could have just used a 20A for them lil 174watts.
That single fues tells me all i would need to know.

Fond memories of great days… Thank you
It's hard to believe that at one point in time Planet Audio amps were made in the USA by Zed Audio.
It'll work for low level applications
For the price $89-114 you can get an Orion cbt, hifonics 1116, Memphis se2000 etc..
@@trucavalier yes, definitely some better options out there!
Nice looking amp
It's easy to get close to the real power output on amps like that by removing a 0 from the end of the rating.
😎👍👍

@@Cully-Wully good morning Cullen!
For the same price you can get a Taramps DS440 bridge it down to 2chs and get 2x300 at 4ohms. Much better option
Didn't even bother to watch this one. Hopefully better luck next Sunday.
Whoomp, there it is... or not? 😅 They make some pretty "shady" looking subs, too, if I'm not mistaken. It sure does look nice though.
@@chrisnunya7171 lol, yes! I’ve never had one of their subs.
I hope you can recoup your loot

12:17 the need someone to compare their 1500 to his 1500 and see the difference, many people just crank the bass knob

300 watts @ 4ohm
