Wild camping on the summit of Red Screes in the wettest conditions I’ve ever camped in! 50mph winds constantly driving rain into us and out tents. The Hilleberg Soulo and the Fjallraven Abisko Lite 1 both stood strong though.

It’s pretty steep like, love it.
I absolutely LOVE listening to the rain on my tent. Weather like this "sings" me to sleep when I'm out camping. So long as I can be dry and then get warm I sleep like a baby. Just like Chris said for me it's also relaxing. Looks like a great hike/camp and precious Blue just taking it all in his stride as usual. :)
It’s a sound that so many are familiar with and can be quite nostalgic. Always reminds me of being a kid. Blue just loves it! And he never complains.

Paul honestly just do it! Just sleep in your garden or close to home to start. If not get out on a hill with a view. You’ll love it and learn so quickly.

It’s definitely a sound that the younger generation don’t get to hear anymore. Too much time indoors! We use to camp a lot as kids. Mine have only a few times.

I think the highlight of this adventure was your food & drinks lol. I have to say. I personally sleep like baby when rain & wind lashes our tent! Same as when the wind whistles around the house!

Brilliant you definitely batteled with the elements. We walked up the Snowdon Ranger path on Wednesday 11th and struggled to hold up never mind a video.
Yes it was relentless but the challenge always fires you up for the next one.

Both are solid tents but the structure of his should be stronger but in practice I’m not too sure

@@BUSHMANandBLUE Bit of a random question bud…. Have you ever captured water running off the tent to put through a water filter for drinking? Just makes sense to me as another water source, eapecially when tent bound in rainy conditions. Don’t see any videos on this, bit once read that you have to be careful of the chemical make up of the tent fabrics incase it adds some nasties to the water… just thought i would ask the man that always camps in rain! Lol
Well exactly that. I’ve drunk direct from a well in a tarp a couple times but as said I’d be carful of any chemicals from the manufacturing process. If it’s your only water source then great.

Wasdale - Pillar (1st nights camp), then around to Scout tarn (water fill up), then up to Yewbarrow (2nd night). Can’t beat it up there. I’ll be going back for a winter camp for sure (being sensible of course) 👍

@@BUSHMANandBLUE I just purchased a hot tent and stove for me and the Mrs and dog for a winter camp weekend up north , we needed 3 man with vestibule because our dog is 6 foot 3 inches on his back legs and tall still on all 4s, so he can be in the vesti area with the log fire. He loves the fire just like in our shepherd's hut. Great video as usual brother! 👌

The Soulo has a much bigger vestibule and probably keeps you and your kit more dry. Worth the extra weight.
Great adventure mate. Watched both versions. I got soaked just watching. I remember when I was young and daft going out in those conditions 😂 wetter than otters pockets was a good analogy I reckon. That’s a lot of weather! Blue is such a star.. we were out on High street a few days ago in lakes with our dog and her new wind proof jacket in over 50 mile winds ( she doesn’t have Blues thick coat even though she’s half collie!) and we all got blown over doing the coat thing 😆 It’s great having a mountain dog to camp with except for when they are wet. My old retriever and I had to sleep too close on one wild camp when I had the crappiest thinnest sleeping bag and no mat so I had to sleep on my rucksack hugging her for warmth!

Great video, in the process of purchasing some wild camping kit, your storm Arwen video looked mega with your tent dug in, I was in the paras for 6.5years so slept in horrendous conditions on some horrendous exercise’s (otterburn) all bivvi and tarp, so a tent will be luxury

It may be a vanity issue for you boys but having trekking poles on those rock hops make life a lot easier, especially on the downhills!
I’m a fell runner so poles for me just get in the way. When I slow down I might start using them but my dad still doesn’t at 81 (still a fell runner). I’d maybe use them for an ultra race over 50 miles. They definitely can save your knees!

Down every time in my eyes. My winter one is the rab neutrino 600. My summer is a mountain equipment 200. If you had to buy just one get one in between being a 400 which will do for most of the year. You can always buy a sleeping bag liner to increase its warmth which I have. Sea to summit do one or two and it’s so soft and comfy. Thermo react?! It might be called. Also in winter trap more air by using a lightweight bivvy. Mind in the alp kit Hunka.

Check for any sales. You can sometimes get 40% off sleeping bags but usually it’s 25. Worth spending the money on a decent one.

It's a brutal climb up red screes. I remember doing it in lakeland 5 passes race, approx 24 miles into the run, great ultra if you haven't done it before 😊
