Great video - thanks! I see so many of these videos where people say they can't sleep, and I don't understand. For me, the sleep I get in a tent when it's windy and raining outside is the whole point. There's nothing cosier than being all warm in a sleeping bag while the weather rages.
I bet u like listening to wind and rain storms on TH-cam while you sleep, this is different it's actually very dangerous that's why he couldn't sleep. He didn't want to wake up dead.
You do give us good stuff Liam cheers. Am I weird or do others, as well, find really heavy winds totally relaxing and sleep inducing. In my younger days there was nothing i liked better than taking a two man tent out in high winds and getting me some really good ASMR induced sleep. Being much older now I still go out in my car with a duvet and park up somewhere high and bleak drink me a coffee smoke me a cigarette (I know, I know)lay the seat back and enjoy some prime hours with windows open and the wind blowing a hoolie I don't even mind if its raining either though it does tend to soak the car interior but i keep bin bags with me to stop myself and the duvet from getting drenched. Nirvana
Sounds lovely, I'd do the same if I could but it hardly ever rains here in Malta. And when it does it only lasts 15mins. I love hearing asmr of howl8ng wind and rain to sleep on youtube
This is the thing that gets me about tents, material, pegs and poles. Extreme weather, wind, rain, hail, snow and your dry inside. I just find that amazing. And yep I own a Hilleberg too!
What an awful day mate but its good to have something like that now and again to appreciate the good days we have - anyway mate thanks for the great vids and keep up the good work - all the way from Vietnam.
Braving the storm with such determination is truly inspiring! Your video captures the raw intensity of nature and the spirit of adventure. It’s impressive how you’ve managed to document this wild journey amidst 60+ mph winds and heavy rain. Looking forward to more thrilling content! Stay safe out there. 👍
You are welcome Liam. I just got back from a night on Kinder with my mate who was in a KUIU Storm Star and i was in a Nammatj. The wind picked up around midnight last night to about 20/25mph gusts which although was nothing to worry me you could see the tent working to handle it and i am certain its capable of handling a whole lot more but what was remarkable was the way the Storm star didn't budge an inch. It was as if it was a dome structure and not a tent and when you compare the weight and size and price to other leading brands i have got to say that its the best performing tent i have ever come across and certainly one i will buy in the future. If i was in your position i would write to them and ask them to send me one. It's got bonkers amount of deep pockets and is twice the amount of usable space as a Soulo and only 2.7kg. You are the first person i have told :)@@GoodBlokeOutdoors
That was epic Liam, it's good to step out of ones comfort zone occasionally and experience mother nature at her worst, it's life affirming and makes you appreciate your home comforts more once you return home 👍🏻
I love Pen Y Ghent, probably my favourite summit camp. I pitched ten feet from the trig point and didn't see a soul. You were brave wilding in those winds man, but you've got the clothing and kit for it. Thanks for some great entertainment in 2023 and all the best for 2024!
I originally followed you for that stealth camp you did ages ago, but been a weekly watcher for the past couple of months - loving your attitude and content 👍
I'm so glad the algorithm suggested your video as I love hiking and camping videos with no music. It's just so relaxing and nice to switch off and feel like we're on your hike. P.S I did the Scarfell Pike many moons ago and experienced some hefty winds and they closed off the mountain(I was doing the 3 Peaks Challenge so they stopped anyone else going up) and I know what you mean about the wind getting scary. I did wonder if i'd bitten off more than I cold chew but it was all good in the end.Keep up the great content and I'm going to check out your other vids. :)
Just one quick tip to add - for anyone camping out in severe weather that incorporates strong winds, you should never pitch your tent right next to a dry stone wall! If the wind brings that down on you when you’re asleep, you’re a goner! Always leave enough of a gap so as not to take un-necessary risk.
Excellent video my friend. Glad you made it out safe fun to watch. Thank you for your hard work. We love you here in northern California.🙏💙🇺🇸 happy new year
I’m from Australia so we don’t get that bad winds very often but along the coast the winds can reach close to what you experienced in this video. Camping in high winds is probably the most relaxing experience I have ever had, I don’t know what it is but I fall asleep so easily and the wind and rain on the tent is so relaxing. That being said I don’t think I have ever camped in as wet conditions as you were in
My first video of yours I’ve watched, and what a first vid ! Definitely pushed the limits of a solo camp! Thanks for taking me on a mini adventure outa little ole Leigh GMR 🙌
T'is but a lovely summer's day in Ireland, that charming weather. We have a saying here 'I love summer in Ireland. It's my favourite day of the year!'. You mad, mad man...stay off the mountains and camp in the quaint valleys like our ancestors. It's even more beautiful down there, listening to that gael howl.
We walked Penyghent and Whernside on December 30th. Set off at 4pm. Exact same wind but we had constant driving rain for 8 hours. We didn’t wild camp over this time, it do occasionally.
@goodblokeoutdoors I've done a few hikes up in't 'ills but usually in the summer. I did go up Helvellyn when the weather was similar to what you had in this video and it was scary. Hats off to you for not just hiking, but actually camping (I have to say it, but the scariest thing for me was watching you massacre that tea bag then adding some weird powder stuff!!)
first one of your videos i have watched and really enjoyed it well done on camping in such bad weather just shows you what you can do and how far you can push them limits
@#goodblokeoutdoors fair play!! good bloke ,,, trust your kit and stay put unless staying is more dangerous than going... stay safe and shine on good bloke
Ive been up Penyghent many a time, in the dark, snow, ice,and all weathers. Theres times when need not to be on the hill. Get up there in summer away from the wall near the pools. Great place.
Best advert for hilliberg I've ever seen! That tent was like a limpit! Hats off Liam, that was some weather to be up there in, well done pal. Keep safe and happy new year!
Hi. Great vid. Love a good storm camp. I was up on the highest part of The Mendip Hills, Beacons Batch, in Storm Gerrit. I was using a Robens Starlight 1. The wind speed I recorded was 52 mph gusts with rain. The tent never budged an inch. Up there with the best of them. Very underrated tent at just £160.00. Oh..and take some ear plugs next time. I did, and slept like a baby. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧⛺️💨💨
Some trip tht mate.Think my bed was deffo more comfortable that night. You a current list of gear out and also what are them walkers you've on you're feet
Good vid.....tips...have 1 big meal...not 3....or your digesting. Coke after food is a big no no .........don't drink for 20 mins after eating. Tea before sleep....no no. Tent stuff all good :))) wow.

isn't it dangerous to use gas stove inside a closed tent
Great video - thanks!

Are you serious? It's not JUST a wind. Everything looks super dangerous and wind is extremely noisy
@@lydiadeetz257 Yeah, but that's what the kit is for. It's the noise that puts me to sleep.
I'm with you completely. What's the point in buying this tent if you're going to bail in the conditions it's designed for. Incredible.
I sleep better during storms than I do when it is completely mild or silent. The sound of the wind puts me right to sleep.
I bet u like listening to wind and rain storms on TH-cam while you sleep, this is different it's actually very dangerous that's why he couldn't sleep. He didn't want to wake up dead.
As much as I like you Good Bloke and I admire you for getting out in that weather, the tent is the true hero of the video, solid as a rock!!
Totally agree, what a tank!
Something about trips like this makes you feel great. You never forget them.
Love your cleanliness. Brilliantly filmed. Thank u for taking me with u as I don't get out much due to health. Found ur channel will watch them all x😊
Thank you 😊
Reyt enjoyed that Liam. Bit bonkers but an exciting adventure. Bait looked spot on too. 👍🏻
Thanks mate, yeah bonkers is a great way to describe it 😂
Enduring this weather outdoors to give us viewers a chance to join you in the comfort of our couches, THANK YOU.

Much respect to you for being out all night wildcamping in a storm. You are right up there with the best of wildcampers. 😊😊
Thank you 🙂👍🏼
Utterly mad, and utterly watchable to the end, FairPlay for sticking it out in those winds….👍😉👌🇮🇲
This is the thing that gets me about tents, material, pegs and poles. Extreme weather, wind, rain, hail, snow and your dry inside. I just find that amazing. And yep I own a Hilleberg too!
Happy new year. What a great advert for Hilleberg, glad you got back down in one piece
I absolutely love being out in that type of weather! The worse the better as far as I’m concerned 😊. Great stuff. Thanks for your efforts
What an awful day mate but its good to have something like that now and again to appreciate the good days we have - anyway mate thanks for the great vids and keep up the good work - all the way from Vietnam.

Awesome brother ! I love camping in rain and wind...but not that much rain or wind. Sweet as 👍👍🤟🤟
Great video! Finally someone tenting in a real storm 🎉
More to come 👍🏼

That was epic Liam, it's good to step out of ones comfort zone occasionally and experience mother nature at her worst, it's life affirming and makes you appreciate your home comforts more once you return home 👍🏻
Yes was certainly the most extreme weather i’ve been camping in so far! Thanks for watching mate

Thanks mate i’ve never actually seen any views from Pen Y Ghent, both times the clag has been in 😅😅
Great wild camp one of the best I've seen, stay safe....... Jack
Stumbled into this channel and can’t stop watching!
Love that mate👍🏼
Good to see you up Pen-y-Ghent Liam.TH-camrs make so many vlogs in the Lake District, which is stunning but it tends to get repetitive.

Just apologize to her, man😭

Don't do it. It's a trap. Johhny Depp proved men can win the argument. 😂

@@asuraphreak if they have Johnny’s money, yes. lol

Just discovered your channel recently, and I'm going to tell you you're living my dream. Nature and peace. Stay safe friend 👍
The moors are relentless in high winds! Your positive attitude to getting out there in all weather is wicked mate! Loved the vid!
one of the best storm camping trips ive seen so hard to find real bad weather testing for tents and human resolve well done great audio and video work
Madness. I love it!
Hilleberg did ok, i wonder if my vango force ten would cope?( i think so) also what sleep mat did you use ,...
Neo air x lite 👍🏼
No messing about this fella

Best wildcamp video I've seen!! Thanks mate from Florida!!
Your a brave man, glad to see you survived. Love watching. Happy new year. ❤
Thanks Alan, your support doesn’t go unnoticed.
Happy New Year brother! Thanks for the content
Out of all the videos I have seen by far this has to be one of the best good job. I really appreciate it.
Dear Lord!!! Now that's a bloody storm mate! Well done surviving the maelstrom. Brilliant!!
Just one quick tip to add - for anyone camping out in severe weather that incorporates strong winds, you should never pitch your tent right next to a dry stone wall! Great advice mate.
Your brave 😮 great video tfs. I’m new to your channel. The people you met, why on earth would they take their dog out in that weather 😢🤬
Excellent video my friend. Glad you made it out safe fun to watch. Thank you for your hard work. We love you here in northern California.🙏💙🇺🇸 happy new year
Question? What are the tent pegs you use. The orange ones shaped like a #7.
I use Hilleberg BL pegs and on the guy lines they are DELTA GROUND ANCHORS 👍🏼
I’m from Australia so we don’t get that bad winds very often but along the coast the winds can reach close to what you experienced in this video. Yeah this was pretty extreme on this camp!
We get shocking winds in Australia, try getting out of your suburb sometime.
Yes I'm binge watching your videos , that hillenburg certainly passed the quality test
My first video of yours I’ve watched, and what a first vid ! Definitely pushed the limits of a solo camp!
Thanks for taking me on a mini adventure outa little ole Leigh GMR 🙌

I think it was powdered milk.
Mate! Just found your channel and absolutely loving it!!! Great stuff!!! Thanks for sharing!
first one of your videos i have watched and really enjoyed it well done on camping in such bad weather just shows you what you can do and how far you can push them limits
Thanks mate, hopefully a few more on the channel that you might enjoy 👍🏼

Always. The main thing is, stay safe, stay warm and stay hydrated.
From Thomas in Manchester.
I'm feeling cold just by sitting in my room and watching this video and hearing the wind sound and bro here in shorts on a summit of a mounting XD
Best advert for hilliberg I've ever seen! That tent was like a limpit! Hats off Liam, that was some weather to be up there in, well done pal. Keep safe and happy new year!
At times I felt like the wind was pushing me away from the monitor in my wheelchair 😅
😂😂
Awesome video mate, I don’t get much time to watch other people’s adventures but this was epic!
Thanks Andy! I’m the same with watching other videos, try to when I have time.
Wow your so brave and awesome I bet you could handle even harsher winds🤩! With a different brand tent of course...
Proper yorkshire bloke out in his shorts in December in 60mph wind
For this conditions it’s always good to have a tarp to take some of the pressure off the tend
Omg that was absolutely mental. Amazed the tent stopped up in those conditions
Hi.
I watch your videos several times. There's not much out there on YT that can compare to yours. Big fan!
Great Vlog lad ,but you is proper mental in that weather .You cracked it tho.keep em coming .
Thank you
Extreme Camping!!! 🏕 👍👍
Id love to know a bit more about your clothing choice and reasons Liam.
Some trip tht mate.Think my bed was deffo more comfortable that night. You a current list of gear out and also what are them walkers you've on you're feet
Have you ever tried the oex bob cat 1 . I often eat salmon fillets but can’t eat the skin makes me heave lol I know some people love it
Love the skin, especially if crispy! No not tried any OEX gear yet but I’ve heard it’s a decent fairly strong tent for the money.
Best ad I’ve seen for a tent, what a tank!
surely camping at the trig point that had 270 degrees protection (with the wall) was better than 180 on the wall?
Enjoyed your windy trip
I can't believe you ran into other people either in that, haha. Lunatics. Love it.
I've been through that pack up and head for the hills.
Rough camp there Liam.At least there's no midgies !
This Man is crazy 😮
Good vid.....tips...have 1 big meal...not 3....or your digesting. Coke after food is a big no no .........don't drink for 20 mins after eating. Tea before sleep....no no. Tent stuff all good :))) wow.
Thank you my friend
That tent 's awesome 🙌. Buzzing for your 2024 uploads 👊
It really is, expensive but well worth the money on nights like this.. 2024 is going to be epic!
that 1 bloke in shorts as you were heading down. proper lad
The pot pasta in the background whilst you were in your headphones just made it for me
good grief mate, what weather, i love watching it, i cant help thinking you looked like why have i done this? in the tent.take care and happy new year
All I can say is, wow 🤙
ha ha finally good youtube content
😊👍🏼
Good video. You should come to Mount Washington in New Hampshire, America.
Oh man. I felt for you there Liam Mate. But well done . I know the struggles with the rain & Wind.🌬🎐🌧
Mighty, some amount of wind up there and fair play for sticking it out. Them pancakes looked fantastic. Happy new year to you.👍
most wind i’ve ever witnessed on a camp, thanks for watching 😊👍🏼
The Stichiing on the 'Hille' is outstanding .
Inclement weather to say the least. Hardcore wild camp. Mother nature v you.
Red army 👊🏽
Death stranding 2 looking hella realistic
Did your tent footprint come with the extensions in the sides like that?
