    This is the best video so far on these transmissions. You seem very skilled and you know your stuff. Thanks for the videos.

    I just changed the shift solenoid in my 42rle and followed the directions from your video. Now I have a shift linkage issue. I know this video is old but if your reading this can you give me any advice on what I did wrong and or how to fix it in my 05 Dakota.

    So it should pull out in park. Mine doesn't want to come out but half way. I can't tap on it because it's in the truck.

      It needs to be in low gear, complete opposite of park. Also make sure you have the linkage disconnected on the topside. Should be a 10mm clamp bolt with a cable attached.

    Those actuators will come falling too when you pull out the valve body from underneath the car?

    • @evanlima5606
      @evanlima5606 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. The overdrive and underdrive accumulator pistons will likely fall out with the valve body removed. The springs and accumulator pistons are identical on 42rle units. Some heavy application of assembly grease will hold the accumulator pistons and prongs in place for re-assembly.

    Now I can see why a rebuilt transmission is so costly. Just don't go to AAMCO!

      It’s almost like a bushing. It is a wearable/sacrificial surface that is located in an area where things will spin in different directions.
