Great video series but please edit video to correct that you have the clutch packs on the output side reversed as many people have commented. This caused me a couple hours of trying to figure out why the clearances were so far off. Add the correction to save other people the same mistake.
He has the steel rings backwards. The thin steels go to Low/Reverse and the thick ones go with 2-4. You can see it when he tears the transmission down plus when I did mine they were like I said.
thank god for this comment 9 years later. Was in the process of dropping clutch/steels back together and got seriously confused because there was one less steel according to him lol
A few things to mention. First, you have way too much background noise. This makes for a very unprofessional video. Second, you leave out critical steps - like how to retain thrust washers in place during assembly. Last thing is nomenclature. You called a sun gear a pinion. you also called a belleville spring a bellevue spring. VERY unprofessional. You should know what these parts are called and address them accordingly. These things may sound like I am being picky, but when you open the manual, it is important to know what parts are called and how to reference them for replacements.

Maybe that's why it failed; was assembled incorrectly at the factory
Mine is the same as you say. Thin with low reverse.

How much different is a 42 RE? And.. Do you have a video for a 42 RE trans? P.S. Your video is FANTASTIC!!
would check gas cap and 02 sensors
Wrong, the 2-4 is the thiker clutch and frictions, and the thinner ones is low reverse , he makes a mistake on this vid.
Look at this thinness differnce on the drawing dude told wrong .
