Not gonna lie I think the mojotone sounds a bit better and with the speakers that are in it. I’d leave exactly the way it is. It sounds pretty amazing man
Agreed, v30s are a good speaker but they’re not the be-all, end-all the internet wants to believe they are. I’d definitely take the mojotone/WGS setup over the mesa/v30 setup.
@@kylebull2 not if you do it as part of a double/quad track setup. For live, if the Mesa OS cab uses 8 ohm speakers in a series/parallel, or 4 speakers at 4 or 16 ohms, you can pair them by unhooking some of the speakers, and then getting the right ohm rated speakers in the other cab so you end up with the appropriate resistance load. The end result is a giant 2x12 in a 4x12 housing paired with a 4x12. Put cardboard covered in black spray paint behind the grille cloth, or if you wanna get fancy, print out 1:1 pictures of speakers, lol.
@@kylebull2 Also, the WGS speakers are a lot more mid-forward, so you'd be surprised. Oh, and you could also use an attenuator between the Mesa cab and the amp, or just do an X pattern of both speakers in the same cab, or even a 3:1.
Why not keep those speakers in the cab, they dont sound bad at all and would be great as a layering tone for clarity and brightness in a multiamp setup
The Mojotone with those speakers sound like they would be better for that scooped old-school 90's deathmetal sound, which is the best sound for metal in my opinion.
Mojo tone awesome you probably worked with my younger brother on this. He’s been with mojo for years and handles the TH-cam creators and signature artist. I’m super proud of him and what he succeeded with mojo
Kyle! What are your thoughts about the Marshall G12 Vintage 70 watt, and any chance you may do a comparison between a “Marshall V30” and a regular mesa vintage 30? Thanks!
Quick post script, edit. Reading through the comments I see a lot of folks really dig the sound of the mojo cabinet. I just want to add my brother is a metal guitar player and he works on the R&D for mojo so he knows what we want as far as guitar players that play heavier music. I really enjoy these demos Kyle! I have used your demos multiple times to get guitar tones in the studio. Keep rockin brother, and keep putting out these demos. They’re awesome!!
The Mesa cab sounds much more full low down, but at the same time sounds like it has a blanket thrown over the high end. It has some serious high end roll off. The Mojo sounds much thinner down low, and more present up high.
Understood. I was just using a reference point most people would be familiar with. Those two WGS speakers are pretty warm themselves, so the fact that they were so much brighter than the Mesa V30s was eye-opening.
Mesa is preferred by me. Using the presence or a voicing option helps bring high end out and tame the lows a bit. I also recommend swapping x2 of the V30s with K-100 or K-85 speakers in an X pattern.
The Mojo Tone cab sounded amazing!! So did the Mesa but really digging the tones coming from the Mojo!!! I'd be hard pressed to change the speakers... that's just me though... it sounds amazing to my ears!!
I wouldn't mind having 2 of these Mojotone cabs in 8 ohm mono stacked with my Randall rx120d I still have from high school plugged into both. It would be like my old (asinine) full stack that felt like getting chest compressions but even better sounding
Been messing around with Mojotone speakers and swapping them around in my 212-C and Marshall MG412B. The Mojotone BV30V is way better than the V30. Paired with a Greyhound from mojotone its unbeatable. Ive got 5 G12T-785's and 3 V30's in boxes now because the Mojotone speakers sound so good.
Side note: just for fun, I took the 12in speaker out of my old Hartke B60 bass combo and threw it in my 212-C. Speaker sounds AMAZING lol. Buying another B60 just for the speaker asap.
Why do I watch your cab videos. They make me want more cabs and I have no more room for cabs. My wife was right you’re a bad influence. Jk that monotone sounds really good though.
To me, i really like the mojo tone cabs with their in house speakers. I own a 4x12 with the greyhounds and whatever they call their own take on the greenback. They also make a 2x12 wedge ISO cab. To me its the best one i have used within that price rang. I own a decent amout of cabs.(not nearly what you have) My favorites that i own are the mojo, barefaced, and my friedman. But i do like my Bogner as well. I haven't tried a Engl yet. But hopefully soon.
I'm just surprised how DIFFERENT they sound. I was expecting these to be competitive with just slight tonal differences, but these aren't even in the same category tone-wise. The Mesa is super dark, while the Mojo is ultra bright, comparatively speaking.
Mesa, no contest! The Mojotone is SO BRIGHT (but more articulated ofc). Close mic’ing the Mesa which sounds way meaner would yield a much better result from what I’m hearing over the room mic… cool idea from Mojotone though!
The mojotone sounded good in the room with the Marshall and Peavey, not so much the Mesa. As bright as that cab is in the room, I can’t imagine what those speakers sound like with a close mic. lol.
Honestly I like the Mojotone better in this format by a long shot. Closed mic’d might be completely different, I don’t know. The mojotone was noticeably brighter and while that lends itself to this mic position it could be too bright up close.
Take two of the speakers from the Mesa cab and take two of the Mojo's speakers out. Put the the two Mesa speakers into the Mojo's cab and you'd have a winner. Stock it sounds a little fizzy.
They probably would sound good blended together but doing an A/B comparison like this I'll pick the Mesa everytime. The Mojo sounded too nasally to me every time. All of this could be fixed if you're recording but live in the room the Mesa just brings the huge thunder and love those cab farts 🤘🤘🤘
Not gonna lie I think the mojotone sounds a bit better and with the speakers that are in it. I’d leave exactly the way it is. It sounds pretty amazing man
I second that!
Agreed, v30s are a good speaker but they’re not the be-all, end-all the internet wants to believe they are. I’d definitely take the mojotone/WGS setup over the mesa/v30 setup.
The Mesa just has THE sound that pleases my ears. I thought the Mojotone was a bit raspy, but definitely something cool to have in the studio.
Blended these two cabs would probably sound amazing
It's possible but the WGS speakers are a lot less efficient so it would probably get drowned out

The Mesa cab sounds like it has a blanket over it, Mojotone for me 🤘🤙
I'm shocked by how much I prefer the Mojotone with current speakers through that mid-mic setup.
I have the same mojotone cab. It sound nice with 4x DV77. Bring clarity to those speakers.
Why not keep those speakers in the cab, they dont sound bad at all and would be great as a layering tone for clarity and brightness in a multiamp setup
I have over 100 cabs, I'll throw the speakers into something else I don't covet quite as much for those purposes, like a crate blue voodoo cab.
The Mojotone with those speakers sound like they would be better for that scooped old-school 90's deathmetal sound, which is the best sound for metal in my opinion.
Mojo tone awesome

I've been eyeballing a Mojotone Grand Canyon for a bit. I'd want it loaded with Fane F70's up top and Eminence Swamp thangs on the bottom.
Kyle! What are your thoughts about the Marshall G12 Vintage 70 watt, and any chance you may do a comparison between a “Marshall V30” and a regular mesa vintage 30? Thanks!
With that setup, Mojotone had it for me.
That Mojotone sounds like it’ll cut great in a mix. Mesa sounds great though too.
I put a greyhound and bv12 in a seismic audio 2x12, and it's gotta be one of my favorite sounding cabs I've had.

This really brings home just how much darker the Mesa V30s are than the standard-issue Chinese version. Great vid.
The Mojotone doesn't have V30's in it, I mentioned in the beginning it has a combo of WGS speakers in it currently and I'd swap it to V30's later.

Can't wait for the next video with this and V30s in it
I want also a video Mojotone vs your new 4x12 Engl cab please.
Mayby also a mesa 2x12 with the mesa speakers vs a marshall 1936 2x12 if you can
I wouldn't mind having 2 of these Mojotone cabs in 8 ohm mono stacked with my Randall rx120d I still have from high school plugged into both. It would be like my old (asinine) full stack that felt like getting chest compressions but even better sounding
mesa sounds like it has a blanket over it compared to the mojotone. crazy.
I bet blended those cabs would sound great... Do a level blend in your daw and see how it sounds...

This video makes me want a Mesa cab
100% think the mojotone is so much better than the mesa. i love this comparison.
Why do I watch your cab videos. They make me want more cabs and I have no more room for cabs. My wife was right you’re a bad influence. Jk that monotone sounds really good though.
Hell yeah baby, always a terrible influence!

Has anyone tried the randall OS cabs ? Those are awesome
Mesa, no contest! The Mojotone is SO BRIGHT (but more articulated ofc). Close mic’ing the Mesa which sounds way meaner would yield a much better result from what I’m hearing over the room mic… cool idea from Mojotone though!
Also completely different speakers
Ok the Mojotone is kickin’! I wouldn’t change anything about it! It’s seriously crushing! That Boogie cab just didn’t seem to hold up against it.
The mesa is definitely the low end forward of the 2. That being said i actually preffered the more tight and focused sound of the mojotone
you're a good player, when should we expect an album?
I'm in multiple bands with multiple albums.

love the blend of WGS

Sounds like the mesa has more low end and low mids and the mojo has more upper mids and clarity
Take two of the speakers from the Mesa cab and take two of the Mojo's speakers out. Put the the two Mesa speakers into the Mojo's cab and you'd have a winner. Stock it sounds a little fizzy.
OMG!!!!!!! I actually jumped up when you started playing BAD SEED!!!!! F yeah LOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The mojotone definitely has less low end and way more clarity. At least through this recording set up.
Blended would be sick and HUGE live.
Room mic tho😬
Mojotone by a mile. Mesa cabs always sound like they have a wet blanket over them to me. But I guess that’s kinda Mesa’s thing?
Neither of these cabs Beat My Super Duper Front loaded Mesa Cab Tho 😊😉
WTF , why did I prefer the sound of the Mojotone? I'm confused, are you lol
Monotone sounds better than the Mesa
The mojo is missing it's mojo
MojoTone all the way! Mesa sux and overrated with V30.
