I often get asked what KTM can do to fix the gap between what the 390 Adventure does and what we expect it to do. First, the SW suggests that the ideal 390 Adventure would split into two parts. One that does touring really well and another that does off-road really well. Sort of how the Rally Kit turns the Xpulse 200 from a casually good off-roader to an excellent, far more serious off-road machine. Why it cannot be done with this generation of the Adventure is mostly to with the frame itself (which is why I keep saying 2025, the model change is a crucial milestone for this motorcycle). We need more suspension travel and more ground clearance to make this as much of an off-roader as the 790 or 890 Adventures. Maybe even a 21" front wheeled model! If you sacrifice the idea of off-roading, then the bones of a good tourer are actually in the 390 Adventure. I'd be fine with the 19" front wheel -it has the utility of handling bad roads and flatter trails better. But what you really need is suspension that allows the 390 Adventure to settle down and do _a lot more_ than the 390 Duke or equivalent on Indian roads (implying a mix of surfaced but bumpy roads). This is what I think the adjustable suspension, had it been standard from the beginning, offered riders. And now, the SW's spoked wheels to me, are a far smaller utility than the adjustable suspension. And the more I rode the SW, the more I concluded that the standard 390 A should _not_ have anything but adjustable suspension today.
I was hoping to buy 390 Adv This Year But After Watching whole Video, i concluded that It doesn't Meet My kind of Needs in An Adv . Maybe I will Hold Out Till Summer Next Year . To see what other kinds Of Adv Motorcycles India Gets And Get Batter Sense Which One Will Meet My needs 😁
what separates your channel from the rest is you really make us try to understand the machine, not just review the performance. This opens up new perspectives for us. Thank you both
I saw this video an year ago, straight up went to buy the 390 Adventure X! Big bundles of joy and happiness. Great price, great bike! Very happy. Thanks to Shumi for making this video. ❤
I got my 390 ADV last year. Been having a hoot on our roads with it cuz of the engine , the longer- than-Duke suspension travel and the accomodating seats. It's comfortable enough (even 2 up, provided the pillion isn't overweight) on long rides and is engaging on the twisties and more than capable of mild off roading. It fits my requirements pretty well. The only thing I wish was different was my 5 foot 6 height and the exhaust note. It might not be the best at any one thing but for someone who enjoys more than one type of riding and doesn't have the budget for 4 different bikes (for cities, canyons, highways and off road), the 390 ADV is a great pick in my opinion.
Shumi, I rented a KTM 390 for the spiti circuit, rode like a maniac... and I loved it. Especially coming from a Tiger 800 at home, I loved the light weight nimbleness. It is still a very good bike and can be recommended to most of the riders (tourers.). I liked your analysis on the seat height/suspension/frame. You have not gone overboard like the most other reviewers, who just give gospel. You have actually backed your views with analysis. On more suggestion, in Motoinc videos (except this one), your presentation style changed... I personally miss your earlier involved analysis... may be change of style is not needed
Came back frustrated with the traffic in Lonavala. Your videos made me cheer up a bit! Eagerly waiting for the next gen duke. Killing it with the aesthetics! The background and costume ❤.
This used to be a dream machine for me because of 3 reasons, I can tour, It's cheap to maintain, It was reasonable comfortable for luggage and pillion! But life changed - pillion went out of the picture. Suddenly - 4.2Lacs on road started to look steep, (middle class boy troubles). Got something really reasonable as a Used Vstrom 250 and I am very happy with the new found ability of it to really tour. It fits my single bike garage perfectly. It takes me to office - takes me to weekend twisties - takes me out on highways at reasonable 90-100 KMPH (did a 1700Km ride recently to understand that bike well and I was impressed AF). Moral of the story- wanted to wait for Himalayan 450 but that is a long way away and I think it'll also take a while for RE to sort out its niggles from the first batch. So maybe another 2 years until I buy another machine, until then my recently acquired 250SX should serve me well. Btw shumi's advice on used machines and vstrom videos helped me a lot.
Absolutely in love with your channel. Hearing the two of you speak is nothing short of therapy. And the questions that form in my mind, 20 seconds later, the exact same questions are dealt with, it’s almost like the both of you are in tune with what the viewer wants to know, in advance. Keep up the good work! Love from Kolhapur, Maharashtra.
Grateful for tackling the most pertinent Q&A session on 390 ADV. You guys have saved 60k+ to most prospective owners including me ❤ as aforementioned listening to both of you is just so sweet and therapeutic. Love from New Delhi to you both and the team behind the scenes :)
Apart from everything else worth loving in this video (the content being top bins only as always), let me take this moment to appreciate the aesthetics. Love the couches. Love their attire. Production value is as high as it gets.
That being said, (and this comes from a place of deepest love) I feel the background wall can be done a smidge better maybe. Its good now, but I think it could've been done better (but hey that's just my opinion). Specifically I feel the pastel white and pale blue: instead of this a plain dark wall with a better visible logo might've looked a tad bit better (even though I understand that a plain wall wouldn't have as much personality as the current one)
So we did try plain walls but it didn’t work for us and we haven’t gone back to that. Thanks for the feedback though, Daksh. Super good to have people like you watch our work!
i upgraded from re himalayan to adventure 390x and for me this solves all the major issues that i had with RE. i really like this bike and i go very light off roading. city and highway mainly.
I always get hit upon by my rider buddies how I made a mistake getting the regular 390 instead of the adventure. But having ridden both of them, I knew I made the right choice bcz the 390 is also a phenomenal tourer if not better and feels at home in the twisties which is much more usable in the city too. Dont see any reason to get the adv over the regular 390 apart from mild off road capabilities
My 2013 Duke with the change in both wheels and adjustable front suspension and rear is now an even better treat to ride and it has the Gen 1 390 engine which is just something else compared to the recent ones! So yes, retrofitting is the way to go! Thank you for putting it out there.
This video was like having a normal conversation with fellow riders so easy to understand , relate lot of info shared just so transparent , no polished gyaan. Just upto the point and everything that was told is in the head so clear.. 😊❤
1. We need a detailed video for the preparations that needs to be done for the upcoming monsoon season. 2. How to choose a motorcycle by test driving and what to look and what not to look in the test drive and decide based on the short test drive we get normally
1. Just lube the chain properly and more often. And wash it down every other weekend. That's all. As long as you tyres are in decent shape you'll be fine. 2. th-cam.com/video/6u1EV9beVAI/w-d-xo.html
After watching a little over 40 videos comparing all the adventure bikes out there according to my needs. I finally made the purchase of KTM ADV 390 X. Couldn't afford to wait for next year's adv's as I am not one of those who will jump to the first batch to buy and regret with all the issues I would have to live with, and did not have another 6 to 8 months to wait for the second improved batch of 2025 KTM adv's. Moreover I only do touring and already have a separate bike for the city commute.
Some really valid points raised by you guys here, this is slowly changing my perspective towards 390Adv. Thanks for putting it out there the way you guys have. I guess stepping back a bit thinking about the points and maybe waiting for a bit more longer to see what more options do we get in next 2 years time will be more bang for the buck. Keep up the good work guys, really appreciate your efforts towards a quality dialogue on automobiles \m/
I recently purchased the standard 390 ADV in March 2023 and completed a ride from Mumbai to Leh and back ( With pillion and luggage). The suspension in the initial days felt uncomfortable compared to Himalayan and GS310 but once I got used to it along with the right preload setting, The suspension doesn’t feel like a bother anymore and once you are past that, The package that this KTM offers with the space in the saddle for two, The luggage carrying capacity, The features, The power, The ease of servicing it anywhere in India at a cheap cost start to grow on you. At this point, This is the only worthwhile upgrade for a person who has owned a 200cc bike for last 6 years. Speaking of upcoming competition, Looking at how the current Himalayan and other 350cc models are being priced, I don’t think Royal Enfield will be able to significantly undercut this KTM in price and I don’t think it will match the engine performance of the 390 because then it will be precariously close to the 650cc engines output and I wouldn’t do that if I were RE. I am just waiting for these bikes to launch and the fun to begin( with the comparos)!
Hello Suraj! Congratulations on your bike and ride! We hope the RE creates a better experience - not just a better VFM equation. That will be exciting!
@@motorinc Do you think I should talk to the service centre and get the adjustable suspension for my bike provided I recently bought the bike (March 2023) and 5 years of warranty is still left on the bike
Let me start by stating my biases: I own one of these (2022), I have ridden it hard across Ladakh (2500 km in 14 days - In on and off-road conditions and rode up a 18K ft mountain without a road with not even a puncture), I am the 20% that uses it for 'what its made for', and I love the damn thing. Now to my thoughts, (1) for a set of folks (MI) who keep saying don't look at the specs but ride it for yourself), I found it strange this video kept emphasising a comparison to bikes that don't exist in the Indian market, I get the KTM ADV DNA is not there but its no dud. (2) Ride the bike and see what a lot of fun it is, if the likes of an Ouseph Chacko (5.7-5.8) or his ilk can get stuff out of this machine I would think the rest of us have a lot to learn and squeeze as much if not more out of this machine. I am 5.8, its a tall bike, just learn how to ride a tall bike, trust me its a better thing to do than be afraid, and you'll be a better rider for it. (3) The ground clearance is 200MM vs a 220 on most standard ADVs (that's 2 cm) (can't imagine a situation on road where this is meaningful and in an off road situation I would say learn to jump the bike or wheelie in a slow speed safely, you'll be infinitely better as a rider and look cooler to boot. (4) KTMs are horribly stally at low gears, frantic and vibey at high speeds, that's what you are buying, its not a welcoming bike but its fun and for some types of personalities it is the bike that'll keep you honest for a long time (by honest I mean you need to be focussed and skill up continuously on various fronts, get classes from an off road school- it'll really help, I have and its such a thrill to be able to control a unruly machine) (5) There are no perfect bikes and all assessments are subjective (the two reviewers have never spared an opportunity to remind us of that even though this episode didn't give the model much love). However, at the price, given its weight, true capability (this is a function of you and the bike) and low cost of repairs and replacements its a great (all-round) gateway drug and I rate this higher than the Duke in that. Would I have liked the SW and Adjustable suspension on my bike, for sure. Do I feel like shit about that, for sure. Will I get the upgrade, I sure will! That said. Cheers to MotorInc, keep the weird ASMR-y chats going. Ride safe and ride hard, Peace!
I love the 390 series. Especially after ktm released the 390 adventure x. It has great cruising speed for Indian highways, more than enough top speed, I like minimum electronics, basic abs is enough for me, tubeless tyres are advantage. It's a good touring bike, lighter, better mileage compared to big bikes.
For a motor head like me your channel is like a goldmine. I can binge watch your videos all day long. Love your unconventional long detailed analysis. You guys are going to rule the motor review world pretty soon. Cheers
I was initially waiting for Hero and Royal enfield to come out with their 400 CC machines but I just got tired of waiting. I am so glad I bought the 390 adventure X and saved the 60k. My main motive is to tour on this motorcycle (sometimes with a pillion) and not do any off-roading until and unless absolutely necessary. Being a 6' tall guy I have no problem with the seat height, but the main issue I have is the vibrations. I even changed the horribly shaped mirrors to husqvarna's but they still vibrate so much so that I just need to turn my head to check behind me. Other than that, really happy with the purchase. Coming from avenger 220, this 390 engine is just something else.
I also got a ADV X recently. After first service the vibrations have settled down to an extent. The bike does not like to go slow. I felt the engine smoothens out a little bit when revs climb. Overall I feel it is a vibey engine. The power is something. The first time I gave it full throttle, I was in 3rd or 4th mid revs. I was almost knocked back and came close to falling off the bike. I was not expecting such a sudden strong pull. I am coming from a Svartpilen. The 390s character is very different from the 250s. It does not feel sane or sensible. Makes me wonder how much of a hooligan the first gen duke 390 must have been.
I bought the rally variant of the 390 adventure and riding it has been an absolute pleasure. The power, the suspension its all worth it. I would prefer it over the g310gs and the Himalayan over and over again
I have a MY21 Adv390. In almost 2 years of my ownership, i have clocked 19,500km on it. I haven't taken it off road. It's an amazing Highway tourer. Also, the QS+ has worked great for me. Also, touchwood, 0 punctures so far with the tough as nails Metzelers. You really don't want a puncture on such heavy and tall motorcycle. Completely agree with Shumi on most aspects.
Hi Prasanna, hope you're well. Almost a month ago I tried to reach out to you both on olx where you posted an ad of 390 Adventure for sale and on WhatsApp but to no avail
@@Rohitjaen Hi, after about a day of posting the advt, I took it down and deleted the app as I wasn't really convinced to sell the motorcycle. Sorry to keep you hanging on Olx. Also, I don't remember any conversation on WhatsApp. 🤔
@@PrasannaJadiya28 I WhatsApp you but didn't get the reply back. In fact your ad. was there on OLX for at least few weeks and i was very keen on getting my hands on your bike particularly for 2 reasons. First the bike looked well maintained judging by the pics posted and the description below, secondly I had a hunch that you and your bike should be a good and fair deal 🤝 and i really liked the motoren lights being in the package and last but not the least i wanted to at least get in talks with you since you needed the proceedings for business investments. I went almost daily at olx msg window to check weather you reverted back but yeah whatever. It's all cool now 😎 I've 2 options with me ATM, I'll getting a new 390 Adventure X or a 2022 standard model clocked over 6000+. My inclination towards that used one is because I really like the dark Galvano black color the most out of 5 livery options currently on offer. Safe and happy riding. Cheers 🥂
Here's me wishing Shumi and Kartikeya a very Happy Guru Purnima. Guys who we look up to for any advise related to motorcycle and car (more into motorcycles personally). Keep sharing your knowledge through various podcasts and sessions. Sorry for wishing early as it's almost close to midnight here in Atlanta Georgia. Hoping to bump into you guys when you are here or if I am in India, on a track day session in Chennai 😅.
I think for KTM it was more of a move to be in the people's attention since the 2024 390 has already leaked over the internet, so why would people buy the base 390 and not wait for few months. Was inch closer to buy the adventure x, but shifted to interceptor 650 due to the much better parallel twin and its refinement. Anyway, thanks for the great review.
No manufacturer can move that kind of quickly Anshul. It's simply not possible to turn around and sell models, even variants, in reaction to things at a few months notice
I test rode the 390 ADV a few days back and my opinion if it still remains unchanged as the one from a year back. It feels like its going to do touring and off-roading really well. But all that fades away the moment you start riding it. 😅 Will be very interesting what the RE Himalayan and Hero have in store.
same. test rode it and all my built up excitement of the 390adv fell flat. suspension was no where near the xpulse200 and the low end grunt was so bad that I could clearly see the bike sitting idle at home as I'd prefer to take the car or cycle for anything other than tours. I guess it's wait and watch mode, wouldn't mind an xpulse400 with better cruisability or a much lighter and faster Himalayan.
Shumi Sir, I have already booked SW version, and this wont change my mind. 😅 Because of the below points already discussed by you guys 1- Thinking it for > 10yrs 2- Correct break-in and servicing 3- The suspension 4- If puncture issues I'll buy the alloy wheel spares. 5- Run on stock untill I get a feedback from myself that things(not bike) needs upgradation 😉
Update: Watched the video 10th time,... And spoke with the local dealer for adv-x and adjustable suspensiom and he said yes. So it's Adv-x with Adj Sus. 😮
and i really love that u didnt post or try to sell by specs or anything.. u really want us to understand and feel the machine in our subconscious and want us to make peace with the product that hey this is what i felt and i will tell u the experience and u can decide whether can u see living with the machine or not? and its so crystal clear like an elder brother explaining stuff.. thank u so much karthik and shumi for creating this channel and keep up the good work!
Wonderful content. I personally own a X version n the whole idea of getting this version coz I don't want to waste time in adjustments n settings. Roads conditions change n having a average setting that works evenly is what x offers. The motor is tuned to suit Adv riding demands. I don't know to what extreme it can go for now it is doing flawlessly what I want it to. No TC keeps the riding experience Organic
Okay, let me pit things into perspective. The last time I rode a motorcycle was 30 years ago and it was the original Boss - the Suzuki Shogun. I'm not in the market anytime soon for a motorcycle, although to be completely transparent I did come close to pulling the trigger on a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro but that's another story. I did see the 390 Adventure last year for my kid brother back in India, and I was really keen that he gets one, but....I'm here because I love both of these guys who love and breathe motorcycles. I love their content and the conversational style, crisp format. This video has really cleared whatever doubts I had in my mind about the 390 Adv. I think I'm going to tell my brother to wait until 2025. Absolutely amazing video, guys. Keep up the good work!!
I follow most of your videos on TH-cam and I have a question regarding ktm adv 390 and I am hoping you guys would be the best ones to answer this. I am planning to buy adv 390 and want to know if it's good to wait for 2025 ktm adv 390 or just go with the current existing model?
Cutting throught the BS to get to what I as a consumer should do (depending on use case) is exactly why I love this channel. Was a fun watch end to end. Would have loved it more if they touched on the low end torque issues a bit along with suspension travel and ground clearance.
I took the plunge and bought a 390 adventure x. The dealer did say that I can upgrade the suspension by paying extra when the part becomes available. Fingers crossed.
I also had the same opinion on the quick shifter in my 390 Adventure, it never worked smoothly in my initial days of ownership. When it worked, it worked like magic, and when it doesn't, I felt it was ruining the whole mood. Infact, I turned the QS option off in my bike for months. But later a thought came, as I had paid for the whole package and somehow I have to figure this out. 😂 With constant practice and experiments, I got that sweet spot where it would work smoothand now I'm happy with the QS. The spark cut off is only for a split second when the contact comes to shift lever and we have to shift through the same time. Its working for me in all the gears up and down, only thing is we have to maintain the RPM between 4-5s. The QS works like charm for me now and I use the clutch only for b2b traffic. I guess it will work for everyone once we start to live with it and figure it out on how to find that sweet spot to shift. I'm one of the those users who does mid level off road and uses it mainly for touring, so the tube tyres in SW is a bit concerning. Hope KTM will bring an option to choose the parts to be replaced than getting a new model from them. Great insights as usual!
I agree with your point. I too have the 390 adv and love to tour on it for hundreds of kms at a stretch. the QS will become really smooth once you are adjusted to using that.
How do you think now the new Himalayan stacks up against KTM390 Adv X, since they are both in the same price bracket.. For a Tourer and once in a while off-roader, Im a bit confused.. please help
KTM should have gone with TVS's BTO theme. Select the configuration and pay as per. That would have been very good option. Maybe not electronics but the hardware like Wheels, Suspension, Seat options could be possible. Maybe the TFT too.
You folks continue to to read my mind, every time, just want to thank you for covering each ride with all the practical, logical and passionate reviews. An avid rider and enthusiast myself, Big fan and very much relatable. 😊 Thank you Team! Sandy
What about buying the SW Variant and changing the spoke wheels with the standard's alloy wheels? It will remove the hassle of tube tires ehile still be able to do mild off-roading.
Hey guys. Soooo there goes my question. I am planning to buy Adv390 by the end of this year. I am 6'2 and weigh 110 kg, muscular build. I am able to pretty much flat foot any motorcycle out there. I am planning to get X but also SW seem very enticing since I can just go to KTM and buy the alloy rims. Adjustable suspension matters to me since I will be touring but also, KTM TCS/IMU controlling the amount of work I want the bike to do is not what I would like. So as Shumi said, is there a way to actually being able to buy the adjustable suspension from KTM and fix it in X? Since my budget is under 4lacs and SW makes me want to stretch a bit but I know for sure, it will not be a wise decision. I am very much inclined towards X tho but I also like the TFT screen. UGH KTM!!! So finally, what should I do? I am confused to the point where I'd find a corner in my room, cry because I am confused and give up and start doing, "pad yaatra". Please suggest, team Motorinc. Thanks.
Hahahahah! That last para! We hope you don’t! Why don’t you ask the dealer if he will sell you the adj suspension for an X? Since you will be buying the bike from him. Also, no harm in trying the bike out first as is and then deciding whether to go for the suspension.
I'm kinda dicey about the tubed spoke wheels of the ktm 390 adv sw. If one has the money should he replace the whole rims with like kineo wheels? would it be a good decision?
Buy the bike - Not because it is the best bike out there in the segment : But because it’s the best for you right now !! My only requirement (when I was doing the bike hunt) was to 1. Tour (700-800kms a day) 2. Pillion comfort ( I ride with pillion all the time ) 3. Spacious ( Can carry all sort of luggage : Tailbag + Saddle + Tank Bag) In 2022 , there weren’t many options out there.. took the risk & went with this 390 adv Best decision ever 🙌 Bottom line : with almost 400kgs on board .. it cruised smoothly at 110-120kmph giving 30kmpl at still enough juice left to reach 130-135 for over takes If that’s not cool.. not sure what is.. P.S no hate to Shumi & Karthikeya.. I love you guys..
I remember the power drift review you did where you mentioned that what this bike needs is adjustable suspension well now it gets it but with spoke wheels
I already have 2021 adv 390. I may change the suspension setup at front and rear. Still the low end torque bothers me. I do understand that it is short stroke high revving engine. But trying to figure out if I can improve that bit more.
Upgrading from a Himalayan, the first thing I noticed was the bottom end. Changing the front sprocket with the Duke 250 15-tooth one makes it much better to ride. But the vibes in the footpegs and the weird suspension settings doesn’t feel right. So, now I have one more thing to fix my ADV 390, ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSIONS ! But I’ll wait for the new Himalayan 😍
I have some confusion trying to decide between the ADV X and the Triumph 400X, I'm yet to get a test ride of the KTM because the showrooms in my city just don't have any td bikes.. however, which of the two would you recommend generally for mixed highway and city purpose?
There's no point in buying the current KTM Adventures at all, Abhigyan. Wait for the 2025s or get the 400X (th-cam.com/video/ek0x0et0UDI/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared) right now.
I've a question which one would be a better choice 250 adv or 390 adv X? As I'm an inexperienced rider coming from a 125 cc (TVS RAIDER) and just going to use it for touring. Also it's 2025 should I wait and see how the new adventures performe, or consider some other bikes like xpulse 210 tvs RTX 300?
Thanks for the informative video! It really helped me gain clarity on what to look for in the adventure bikes. Keep up the great work, your channel is a fantastic resource for motorcycle enthusiasts.
Shumi can you suggest me a adventure bike around 500cc displacement. I am 6 feet 2 inches .. need a good handling bike with good road presence. Riding style is not too aggressive
sorry to comment here, anyone knew how to reduce the brightness in LCD display for KTM adv x ? or is it even possible ? Its really annoying when riding in late at nights, because it the illumination from the display is way too high at dark
The KTM 390 ADV is amazing and extremely versatile. Understand that one needs to spend enough time with the bike to make a connection. I come from the Himalayan and this truly has been an upgrade for me. Yes, you'll need to unlearn a lot when you make this upgrade, whilst having a ton of fun. All the electronics are just icing. The Quickshifter+ works flawlessly, the suspension is perfect and the other electronics are just well calibrated. Once you make the connection, you'll feel all these aids working with you, and that way you'll be able to get from this bike than any other in the market currently. If you're contemplating, don't! Just get one.
Hi there , So i have few options for a new bike it's super meteor 650 , continental gt 650 & Duke 390 adventure x, i am confused which one do i go for , i will use the bike daily travel and weekend rides . Suggest me a bike in these three that i can pick confidentially
Can you please tell in detail about that difference in frame construction of duke 390 frame used by adv 390 and frame of 890 adv or an offroader? Just asking for knowledge.
Where is the riding video bro? I am really interested in 390X U kept comparing it to the old 390, but since I am completely new to Adv 390, I won't be able to understand your feeling
Why u guys do this again and again? Which is giving us the best content. Honestly, I love when u guys discuss and especially when in between the conversations you guys just tease the other bike brands😂😂. Loved it. Please continue making this channel as simple as guys are. Cheers.
Please Make the full review of the Duke 250 soon... We are demanding it for a long time, everytime whenever a review comes i hope it's what we are wishing for but sadly...
Hi there I am planning to by the Royal Enfield Himalayan the current modal do you think I should wait for the newer one my dealer gave me an option to select and book the newer modal right now it self and I am confused whether to go with the current one or the upcoming one please help me out (the newer Himalayan looks a lot appealing though)

This video has opened a whole new perspective, which is a good thing. Thank you for keeping it real guys 🤙🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Two wise men and a great support team behind, another happy subscriber!!! Thanks all
Shumi, I rented a KTM 390 for the spiti circuit, rode like a maniac... and I loved it.
Glad you love the MotorInc vibe!
Can you please explain that last part again?
@@motorinc he didn't
Yea please explain the last bit a bit
Came back frustrated with the traffic in Lonavala. Your videos made me cheer up a bit! Eagerly waiting for the next gen duke.
Killing it with the aesthetics! The background and costume ❤.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Sunday and first rains? We could have told you that the traffic would be nuts!
@@motorinc lesson learned 🤣👌
Awesome! Glad you're enjoying your riding Rahul... and that we've been able to help!
I love how you guys don't mince your words and say what a normal rider mostly would have questions about. Love the unfiltered opinion!
Thanks Vijay! Glad you found that useful!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed that!
Grateful for tackling the most pertinent Q&A session on 390 ADV. You guys have saved 60k+ to most prospective owners including me ❤ as aforementioned listening to both of you is just so sweet and therapeutic. Love from New Delhi to you both and the team behind the scenes :)
Thanks Rohit! Glad that make sense to you!
Will pass on your compliments to the team!
I love watching you talk , not only about bike , it helps see life in a new perspective, soon I will join riding classes with you
Awesome! Best of luck!
🙌
Awesome! Glad you're enjoying your ride!
Shumi would totally agree!
What about the agressive position of footpegs on a duke that no one who is looking for a touring bike would prefer?
@@sachuchandra94 Duke footpegs are not aggressive, they are bit rearset. The aggresive ones are those of RC
2 of my most favourite presenters on the same channel! Love it guys..and very very informative ❤
Thank you for being here with us! ❤️
My 2013 Duke with the change in both wheels and adjustable front suspension and rear is now an even better treat to ride and it has the Gen 1 390 engine which is just something else compared to the recent ones! So yes, retrofitting is the way to go! Thank you for putting it out there.
Totally agree
Yes! Good idea!
Triumph 400x is better for indian roads
I recently bought a Ktm 390 adv x and done around 200kms till date and I'm in love with this machine..
Congratulations! Wish you the best for your travels!
What is your opinion on the BMWG310 GS.. The BS6 version...
Looking forward for a similar discussion on the new gen duke 390.
Can’t wait!
Well said.
Totally agree! It's good enough for touring!
For a motor head like me your channel is like a goldmine. I can binge watch your videos all day long.
Love your unconventional long detailed analysis.
You guys are going to rule the motor review world pretty soon.
Cheers
Thank you so much @rajatchand1450
Glad you’re out riding! Congratulations Amodh!
Absolutely spot on! the First Gen 390 Duke was 😳
I bought the rally variant of the 390 adventure and riding it has been an absolute pleasure. The power, the suspension its all worth it. I would prefer it over the g310gs and the Himalayan over and over again
These guys are saviours for all the motorcyclists❤ thank you Shumi and Karthikeyan

I only driven commuters and scooter know nothing about these even though I watch these video editing and sound is superb you guys are awesome
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing Prasanna! That's some serious traveling! Wish you many more great journeys!
Cheers 🥂

thhanks for helping me to decide whic adv to buy, Gonna buy 390 adventure x
I think for KTM it was more of a move to be in the people's attention since the 2024 390 has already leaked over the internet, so why would people buy the base 390 and not wait for few months.
Was inch closer to buy the adventure x, but shifted to interceptor 650 due to the much better parallel twin and its refinement.
Anyway, thanks for the great review.
No manufacturer can move that kind of quickly Anshul. It's simply not possible to turn around and sell models, even variants, in reaction to things at a few months notice
I was eager to buy 390adv sw variant, now will hold till next year to find the nee stuffs coming in..thnxs guys
I test rode the 390 ADV a few days back and my opinion if it still remains unchanged as the one from a year back. It feels like its going to do touring and off-roading really well. But all that fades away the moment you start riding it. 😅
Will be very interesting what the RE Himalayan and Hero have in store.
Totally agree! This is gonna be a great year for tourers!
same. test rode it and all my built up excitement of the 390adv fell flat. suspension was no where near the xpulse200 and the low end grunt was so bad that I could clearly see the bike sitting idle at home as I'd prefer to take the car or cycle for anything other than tours.
I guess it's wait and watch mode, wouldn't mind an xpulse400 with better cruisability or a much lighter and faster Himalayan.
We're waiting with you!
Absolutely love the calm and zen like episodes .. such a welcome and refreshing change.
I purchased KTM 390 Adventure X. I live in Pune. I've ridden 650 Kms so far. And, I still haven't got the OPPORTUNITY to engage the sixth gear 🥲.
What a stonking amazing review! Addresses so many crucial points that nobody else does. Just brilliant.
Thanks!
Shumi Sir,
I have already booked SW version, and this wont change my mind. 😅 Because of the below points already discussed by you guys
1- Thinking it for > 10yrs
2- Correct break-in and servicing
3- The suspension
4- If puncture issues I'll buy the alloy wheel spares.
5- Run on stock untill I get a feedback from myself that things(not bike) needs upgradation 😉
Awesome! Best of luck Sachin!

Thank you, Yash! Glad you liked our style.
Hullo GK! You're an awesome elder brother! Worth waiting! Thanks for being with us here!

🙌👍
Thanks for sharing Hari and Praful! Will be helpful to others to get the hang of their ADVs quicker! Appreciate it!
How do you think now the new Himalayan stacks up against KTM390 Adv X, since they are both in the same price bracket.. For a Tourer and once in a while off-roader, Im a bit confused.. please help

How can you bring so much clarification in one video... kudos to your efforts and R&D..!!!

KTM should have gone with TVS's BTO theme. Select the configuration and pay as per. That would have been very good option. Maybe not electronics but the hardware like Wheels, Suspension, Seat options could be possible. Maybe the TFT too.

What about buying the SW Variant and changing the spoke wheels with the standard's alloy wheels?
It will remove the hassle of tube tires ehile still be able to do mild off-roading.
One question, can we retrofit the front Adjustable forks and Rear adjustable monoshock on the Duke 390? The BS4 ones
The 2023 KTM 390 Adventure SW comes with tubeless tires in the US. The spoke holes are sealed with a rubber ring.

Hi 👋 there, so how do u recommend Xpulse 200 rally edition pro. Instead 😮
This is brilliant! I've really got some points to consider/remember while I purchase one. Thanks. Great work ♥️
@@motorinc Good point. I'll ask and update you here. Thanks.
I'm kinda dicey about the tubed spoke wheels of the ktm 390 adv sw. If one has the money should he replace the whole rims with like kineo wheels? would it be a good decision?
Can we change the spoke wheel to alloy wheel for new ktm adventure 390 rally edition?
Buy the bike - Not because it is the best bike out there in the segment : But because it’s the best for you right now !!
My only requirement (when I was doing the bike hunt) was to
1. Tour (700-800kms a day)
2. Pillion comfort ( I ride with pillion all the time )
3. Spacious ( Can carry all sort of luggage : Tailbag + Saddle + Tank Bag)
In 2022 , there weren’t many options out there.. took the risk & went with this 390 adv
Best decision ever 🙌
Bottom line : with almost 400kgs on board .. it cruised smoothly at 110-120kmph giving 30kmpl at still enough juice left to reach 130-135 for over takes
If that’s not cool.. not sure what is..
P.S no hate to Shumi & Karthikeya.. I love you guys..
Thanks for sharing your experience @chalonish! Glad to hear that.
I remember the power drift review you did where you mentioned that what this bike needs is adjustable suspension well now it gets it but with spoke wheels
Hi I am bit confused between KTM 390 adv & Triumph Scrambler 400x what should u recommend..??
What would be your pick of a motorcyle under 6L which is a great tourer(consider mild offroading)? with pillon and without pillion?
I already have 2021 adv 390.
I may change the suspension setup at front and rear. Still the low end torque bothers me. I do understand that it is short stroke high revving engine. But trying to figure out if I can improve that bit more.
What about swapping wheels to base alloys on the sw model? Or using a one of those tube to tubeless tyre kits.

There's no point in buying the current KTM Adventures at all, Abhigyan. Wait for the 2025s or get the 400X (th-cam.com/video/ek0x0et0UDI/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared) right now.

Also it's 2025 should I wait and see how the new adventures performe, or consider some other bikes like xpulse 210 tvs RTX 300?

Where is the riding video bro? I am really interested in 390X
U kept comparing it to the old 390, but since I am completely new to Adv 390, I won't be able to understand your feeling
We will work on ride video aa soon as possible.
@@motorinc thanks bro
Hii.. Is there a reason you do not even mention the 310GS once? Can you kindly do a review of the Gs?
Why u guys do this again and again? Which is giving us the best content. Honestly, I love when u guys discuss and especially when in between the conversations you guys just tease the other bike brands😂😂. Loved it. Please continue making this channel as simple as guys are. Cheers.
Thank you, Prateek! Stay tuned for more.
Please
Make the full review of the Duke 250 soon...
We are demanding it for a long time, everytime whenever a review comes i hope it's what we are wishing for but sadly...
