- Welcome to my European Sourcing Trip series! This fall, I spent nine days in Europe do some vintage shopping/sourcing for my Etsy shop. I thrifted in Amsterdam, Bruges and Brussels, and found so many amazing pieces. Belgium really does have the most amazing thrift stores! In this episode I shopped Brussel's daily vintage market and dug through boxes to find vintage treasures. I'm also sharing my packing tips for getting souvenirs home safely in your luggage. Torn canvas can be repaired by gluing a small piece of canvas to the back of the painting. Also if your canvas has a dent in it spray some water on the back of it… and let it dry naturally or use a hair dryer. I’m an artist who torn my painting and I repaired it. You may already know this information. Just thought I would pass it on.
The dent will disappear with the water trick.
This is a great tech tip! Thank you for sharing!!!
Thanks I’ll try that on a dent I gave in a canvas painting
I loved your story about your mom. I could have told the same story about my mom, see took so many of my finds from me too. She passed away a few years ago, and I got them all back. Lesson learned it's okay that she had them to enjoy during her lifetime. Now I have them back, and I think of her and our experiences daily.
Great tips. Love the story of the vendor throwing his merchandise around,😊
Great tips, Andi, thank you! What an exciting trip & haul!
That moody floral is everything!!!! The buyer is so lucky to have it. I adore moody florals but pretty much never find them. Beautiful piece! ❤
I love your honesty about these vendors. We have all had em. I agree, If they are rude I'm not buying from. Love everything you got.
You can remove the tacks from the wood frame and then remove canvas and roll it up. No need to cut it.
LMAO 😀!!! Those Moroccans are pretty interesting. The market definitely changes day to day. I went 6 times and it was different every time. I just looked for vendors that had reasonable prices or were negotiable. But it was definitely so crazy how things sat in the rain and the chaos at the end of the day.
Amazing art! Love when you talk about your mom.
Hi! Lots of beautiful pictures! Tfs
I love those boxes! Great video with a load of info included. Also loved the story about your mom! 😂
Lots of good info! I'm thinking about bringing back some stuff from France to sell...I've got to give it some more thought. I'm not really sure what would sell. I know I can get some amazing old bed linens for a good price, but I don't know if there's a market for it. Anyway, thank you. Oh! and that moody floral painting is amazing!
Awesome video! Thanks sooooo much for all the packing tips, I really appreciate you sharing that valuable information. The more I watch you, the more I love your content and style. Thanks again!
These packing tips are awesome! Thank you! About to head off to France and go to Porte de Vanves flea market. Hoping to bring back some treasure.😊
Hi Andi
Great finds from the market! Loved the boxes.
I also scored some lovely pieces of art from that market. I went during the week but it seems that it is much better at the weekends so I plan to give it another shot next time I visit.
Thanks for all the info 🙏🏼
The box says 'Nieuport Bain' wich is the French for 'Nieuwpoort-Bad', a place on the Belgian coast. It's in the same region as Bruges.
That floral piece could be something special btw!! Look into it 🤩✌️🇬🇧
Fantastic art ❤
How awesome love the art and love FREE TOO…..❤ your so funny no fist fights ……it’s funny because I was close to my mom. I miss her so much. I use to say “Maaa too lol 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Yum! Love an art sandwich 🥪 ❤
Great tips for packing and traveling back with “souvenirs!” I usually travel light, even overseas, so knowing how to navigate the extra bags is helpful. Also - I had to snicker a little at the fistfight story - went on a tour in New Orleans once that ended with our guide starting a brawl and we just ran away. 😂
I love your style. You have inspired me to add more brass and wood to my decor. I do, however, like my brass with the patina and tarnish left in place.
Funny story I was thrifting and found a cute box but when I turned it over it was marked Pet Cemetery. I did not buy it.
Interesting experience you’ve had at our flea market 🤔 I go there basically every week and never had to witness a fistfight. The market is biggest on Sundays, and vendors tend to rotate too. It is a truly great place to look for treasures so if you happen to ever be in Brussels again - just give it another shot 😉
Hi Karolina!
I visited the market during the week. Want to make sure I visit in a weekend next time I come. ❤
People who are rude DO NOT deserve your money! Sod that! Manners cost nothing xx
Your personality is great Andi! They are the rude ones and lost a sale. NEXT 😂
If you’re ever on the east coast I’d love to shop with you! We have lots of vintage in VA!
Really nice video😊
Pyromaniac (Damn Fire-Starting Psycho-Creep) Pyrography (Decorated with burning-hot tool work) Both are Code Red for FIRE = Pyro......You got this...!
Its interesting you have plastic Amazon packets in the US. We only get padded paper ones here now. Very very rarely does plastic come from UK Amazon these days... which is a good thing.
Love the packing tips.... and the scale idea too. :)
Yes!!! TFS!❤❤❤❤
just make sure ya'll put those 'box-cutters' in your checked language 😆
Does your mom have an ETSY SHOP?
Digging is the best part. There’s zero skill in shopping a curated booth.
Brussels is a really nasty city… sorry to say😢😢
Hi, I think most European countries people are rude with Americans, I went to Greece last year and I didn’t like the way they treated us, is sad since they depend on the tourists 😞
Great video Andi ❤🎉
@@almagarcia1537 we’ve earned that treatment by behaving like crappy Americans.
