Hey, I just wanted to say thank you. I moved to Europe and want to go into the family business. My dad was a antique dealers. He sold stuff to JFK, Johnny Cash and I think once even John Lennon. He sadly passed away last year. I found your videos and you inspired me into the game. Your videos have been such a valuable resources and study them. Just wanted to see a thank you, a biggest thank you possible. Thank you! so much! Your are deeply appreciated!
Your dad sounds like he was the master! How amazing to have those folks as customers. I’m so sorry he passed. I’m so excited for you to get into the biz! And thank you for the lovely compliments!! ❤️❤️❤️ Appreciate you too!
@@AllPutTogether Thank you so much! He was! Your videos have helped put me on the path. Picked up a brass animal today. You know when your lost at sea and you see the light house. That's what your videos were for me! Thank you!
Love the needlepoint Young Girl Reading by Fragonard! I had to get that in a print after seeing the painting in Washington DC when I was in high school in the 1960's.
Me too!! I loved seeing that in person in Jr high. I also loved “Girl With A Watering Can” by Renoir. Found a print of it in my local GW and bought it. 👍😊
In my few trips to Europe, the shopping has always been amazing. I've collect pottery from Spain and Portugal which I would pack in suitcases, carry onboard and ship home (DHL). Those were the good days. Congrats on some fun buys...and yes, it would kill me to have to leave behind anything that good for such low prices (furniture). Fun video!
Wow!!! Just wow! I wanna go!! You should lead a trip!!! I love the florentine mirror and oh my gosh I would just be running to all the thrift stores. Definitely need a container next time!!
Omg Andi! Great video! Bruge is amazing and the charity shops are awesome with jaw dropping prices. I'm glad you visited that vintage shop. It's adorable. Went there too. Love your mum's box and the big wooden plate you found. What a score!
In Belgium (and the Netherlands) thrift stores are usually non profit stores that benefit a charity. Most of the time they are run by a majority of volunteers. That’s why the prices are low. When you see thrift stores that have very high prices, chances are they’re making a profit. Usually a store had a website or an employee can tell you about the charity they support.
The random boxes of junk are definitely worth sifting through. At least in Germany it is from house clearances and the people who clear the houses are more interested in electronics etc. they are not usually interested in books, clothes or decorative items. So bargains are often to be had.
Ahhh, my Dad was Irish but raised in Glasgow . I drink tea too. Or a cuppa. Now, half the time, we had no idea what he was saying. He didn't immigrate until he was 27.
Andi, there was so many beautiful things. I do needlepoint and appreciate when I see someone else’s. I would have been overwhelmed with so many things to choose from. Brass is definitely still in.
It must have been torture to see so many beautiful and reasonably priced things that you had to leave behind. Looks like a wonderful place. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Andi, if you ever do sell that fabulous art behind you I would love the first option on it. I'm from a little wheatbelt town in Western Australia and love your utube videos and travels ❤
😂😂 If you keep buying crucifixes at that rate Andi, the European vendors are going to start thinking you are into exorcisms or something 🤣🤣🤣 . So much brass !! As an Aussie, even I haven’t spotted a brass kangaroo although I’m sure they are out there. Thanks for another great vid. 🦘
I think you hit a thrift store I didn't go to which makes me want to go back! I totally picked up that wood bank box, absolutely loved it and so glad you bought it for your own collection. Next year I'm planning to bring back 10 50lb boxes from Belgium and Lille, France which was an epic adventure! It was so hard to leave things behind that you would snap up in the US.
Such fun to watch this as so many amazing finds (not the spiders tho eek). I love Brugge... but never thrifted there as I was always travelling lightly and moving on thru. Cant wait to catch a ferry across the channel and head there soon.
GREAT video! I love your enthusiasm -- I am nuts for vintage and religious art and little fonts too. Andi, please speak a little more slowly -- I think I"m missing stuff! Can't wait for Parts 2 and 3. xx
Hi Andi, have been enjoying your videos for a while now, thanks for always sharing. I’m looking to start selling vintage as a way to manage my addiction to buying amazing handmade stuff :-D and was wondering, how much of your time do you spend on this? You mentioned you have a main job. Sorry, I’m just curious 😊 Also, if you’re ever in Switzerland, give me a shout❤ I’m a half British half Japanese immigrant who has been thrifting here for 15 years hehe
OMG I honestly plan to look into containers. A bunch of reselling friends want to fill one together. On just the reselling side (not TH-cam/Social), I probably spend about 4-5 hours sourcing during the week, 1-2 hours photographing and measuring, 2 hours listing, 2-3 hours packing, and 2 hours fluffing my booth spaces. So like 15+ hours. But it’s really hard to say because it depends on the platform you sell on and how many orders you process.
People who actually pay with the euro, say euro. Doesn't matter if it is one or 2 or 10, it is 3 euro. Only when you go futher south to France, etc. They stick to plural. So in France you will pay 5 euroS. Not in Belgium or the Netherlands.
You can always have them shipped home if you really want them but of course its going to more expensive. You keep sayoing you cant put them in your luggage.
It sounds a little iffy for you to keep saying "it's so cheap over here" over and over again. The prices at the outdoor market were pretty standard for Western Europe. And American pricing would be pretty expensive for us. So your joy about bargains comes off a little boastful.
I don’t think she sounds boastful. I think it’s fair to bear in mind she’s comparing it to prices in the US and is speaking as a reseller. I’m not trying to attack you, I promise😊 I just think, some things are insanely cheap no matter where you’re from. I say that to mean that so many people would spend 80 euro at IKEA for a mass produced piece of crappy furniture and consider than cheap when there is an equivalent hand made, artisanal furniture piece out there going for like 20 euros. We live in a crazy world, don’t you think? I’m becoming a reseller to help find these places a home and to do my part to convince people to spend their money on things that will last. I hope to make pocket money doing it, but that’s not hard when something that took like 500 hours to make is being sold for the price of a Big Mac deal here in Switzerland 😅
That certainly wasn’t my intention. Most things in Europe are very expensive for us, especially given that the exchange rates are never in our favor. It’s thrilling when you can get a bargain overseas and I’m grateful it happens to be thrift stores!

The lace is called tatting. And the wood things are called shuttles.
I think they are bobbins for lace, which Bruges is famous for.
Jaw-dropping how much brass there is. 12:46 That art nouveau design on the seat is so nice. To die for!
It was all so good!
In my few trips to Europe, the shopping has always been amazing. I've collect pottery from Spain and Portugal which I would pack in suitcases, carry onboard and ship home (DHL). I just purchased the wooden plate...can't wait for it to come...love you Andi
My favorite
Yay! Thank you so so much! :)
Amazing pieces you found. The prices are ridiculously good, WOW. 😊
Absolutely beautiful pieces! Belgium is now on my bucket list.
Thank you for your amazing video! Can't wait for the next one!
Hi! So many great finds. I definitely would have enjoyed myself. Tfs
Amazing! So excited for the series! ❤❤ love that your mom is just as enthusiastic about thrifting ❤❤
That's a Moroccan mirror. There is a huge community in Belgium. I lived there for 7 years!
Amazing displays, such cheap prices in the thrift shops. Bruges is great for chocolate too.
I ate a lot of chocolate too! ;)
Europe has so much history that we in North America can only dream of. 🇨🇦
Wow!!! Just wow! I wanna go!! You should lead a trip!!! I love the florentine mirror and oh my gosh I would just be running to all the thrift stores. Definitely need a container next time!!
Omg, Andi, the brass! Had to stop the video several times to look at it all & pick my fav pieces, lol. Great haul, what a beautiful place Bruges is!
😊 thank you
Loved the needle point!

Great video thanks enjoy u always
Discovered you through Laura Caldwell, really enjoy your videos.
Thanks!
I love love love the videos in Europe. Thx ❤
So glad! More coming your way!
Ahhh, my Dad was Irish but raised in Glasgow . I drink tea too. Or a cuppa. Now, half the time, we had no idea what he was saying. He didn't immigrate until he was 27.
The lace is bobbin lace. Those wooden pieces are bobbins, where the threads are wound.
Thanks!
@@AllPutTogether Sure! Bruges is reknowned for lacemaking, especially bobbin lace and needlelace.
Andi, there was so many beautiful things. I do needlepoint and appreciate when I see someone else’s. I would have been overwhelmed with so many things to choose from. Brass is definitely still in.
Wow how fun! Belgium and Portugal are on my list.
Europe has the best antiques and vintage.
It must have been torture to see so many beautiful and reasonably priced things that you had to leave behind. Looks like a wonderful place. Thanks for sharing!
It was! Next time I am bringing more bags or a container. :)
This video was SO GOOD!!!
Thanks! ;)
Hey Andi, if you ever do sell that fabulous art behind you I would love the first option on it. I'm from a little wheatbelt town in Western Australia and love your utube videos and travels ❤
Haha ok I will keep that in mind! Thanks for watching!
I believe it is called tatting!!! My Grandmother would do it!!!💞💞🙃💞💞
Yes!!! You’re so right.
Haha I know! I can only imagine what TSA thought as they scanned my luggage… ;)
@ 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Brass heaven
Oh my gosh, you crack me up! You hating on Europe's use of change made me bust out laughing! 🤣
Nice!!!
Wow! Amazing prices!!! U look like ur mom❤
Haha yup, very much so!
Omg indeed !
Wow the prices in those shops was insane! I wish things were that cheap here in Cyprus. Can't wait to see what else you got 🙂
I agree that vintage is overpriced in Cyprus. I always set aside time to hunt for vintage when I travel.
@marianic194 very much so!
That vintage shop was really called "Chelou" lolllll! Like verlan slang for suspicious? 😂
I think you hit a thrift store I didn't go to which makes me want to go back! I totally picked up that wood bank box, absolutely loved it and so glad you bought it for your own collection. I totally wanna do the Lille market next year too! I sounds so epic! I do wish I would have brought more bags with me!
@ Live and learn, right?
Bruges is like walking through a fairytale. Did you climb the tower? So awesome.
Yes I did, it was so interesting to see the bells.
Such fun to watch this as so many amazing finds (not the spiders tho eek).
I love Brugge... but never thrifted there as I was always travelling lightly and moving on thru. Cant wait to catch a ferry across the channel and head there soon.
It was such a magical town made even better by all the vintage!
I can't imagine how you were able to be selective. so much to choose from!
It was so hard to have self control!
The needlework is called tatting, Andi
GREAT video! I love your enthusiasm -- I am nuts for vintage and religious art and little fonts too. Andi, please speak a little more slowly -- I think I"m missing stuff! Can't wait for Parts 2 and 3. xx
Haha I’m a fast talker for sure! I always recommend adjusting the speed settings when you watch me.
I thought you were going to have a conniption when you saw all that brass!
Ohh yeah I nearly passed out!

Oh and also, the furniture situation is crazy, right? So much of it is free here…wanna start a container business? 😂 nobody wants it here 😢

If you want furniture, come to Virginia and NC. I live in Richmond, one of the oldest in USA. NC furniture makers going centuries back.
Yes, I totally want to thrift the east coast one day!
Furniture store reminds me of City Antiques in Portland (now closed)😢
The answer is easy....move to Belgium! Did your Mom have you when she was 5? So pretty!
Haha your compliment made my mom’s day!
Take any box that does not have a key to your local locksmith and they should be able to find you a key.
OMG great suggestion! I’m totally going to do that.
that thrift store pricing is unfathomable after shopping the (mostly junk) thrift stores in the states. i'd have to get a shipping container 🤣
Trust me, a container has crossed my mind!
Euro(s) are like dollar(s) - more than one makes it plural. One dollar, one euro, two dollarS, two euroS, etc...
Ha ha! This drives me mad! Laura Caldwell does it, as well. Who told Americans that more than one Euro is still singular? 😂
People who actually pay with the euro, say euro. Doesn't matter if it is one or 2 or 10, it is 3 euro. Only when you go futher south to France, etc. They stick to plural. So in France you will pay 5 euroS. Not in Belgium or the Netherlands.
Did you list the painted tin box? I don’t see it on your Etsy page.
Not yet, but I can! I’ll add it to my list to photograph.
@ no hurry. I was looking for a price comp for one I have. 💕
The brass pitcher with the face says MDLXXV 1575. It's not really that old is it?
I’m not sure but there was definitely stuff that old at the markets, so could have been!
I heard brass is out copper is hot. Right or not 🤷♀️
Brass sells faster for me but people do love copper too!
You can always have them shipped home if you really want them but of course its going to more expensive. You keep sayoing you cant put them in your luggage.
My guess is the mirror is Indian or possibly Moroccan from the 90’s.
Thank you!
Why don’t you go with your thrifting friends and share the price of the container ❤️
We’ve been in talks… ;)
I love Saint Bernadette praying to Mary. Our Lady of Lourdes. Too.
Me too! It was always my fav story as a kid.
Why do you, Laura and the rest of your PNW gals go into together for a shipping container?
We’ve definitely been discussing it!
it's so inexpensive because people earn less!

LOOK at the condition of the furniture 🪑 in their charity shops, too. In America, the furniture (made mostly in China) is in horrific condition.
It was all pristine! Like a time capsule. I couldn’t believe it.
