I really want it this year, but I feel like Mario is going to take this year, so I feel like it is going to be next year
Given current state of things.....holiday release at the earliest I would say. As much as we all want it keeping a cool head and not setting an expectations would be best. That's being said, something to show would be grand to allow more conversation amongst fans for the time being as that can be enough for some until release comes. You pointed out the early trailer for Botw 1 and then 6 months Nintendo showed off much more. That would be great to see at least a hint of ideas being put forward for the sequel release. I'm a BIT more curious as to the state of Metroid to be honest.
They want to surpass the success Botw 1 for sure.

Every Anime Character hey it is possible, they are reusing the engine and building the map based on the botw 1 map. It’s perfectly possible, if Nintendo was planning to release it this year they should have most of it done by now and everything left should be easy enough to work from home

Maybe so... but I usually think of the two as a pair. I still love Oot, and have only played MM recently. Both great games, but it’s the same hero that makes MM soooo good.
I fully agree that Majora's Mask was a masterpiece. Its one of my favourites actually. But... majora's mask was also kind of lightning in a bottle. One of those rare moments where everything just happens to fall into place. Generally when a game gets much less development time, it becomes a much smaller project. I mean... 4 years as opposed to 1 year makes a big difference. So I hope that for Breath of the Wild 2, they invest the time they need to make it amazing, and not give in to pressure to get it done faster while sacrificing the quality of the final product.
I just hope Nintendo tells us at e3 that it is coming 2021 if they aren’t ready instead of just saying nothing. I’m still feeling Zelda 20 for 2020, but what’s been happening in the world we will have to wait.
E3 has been cancelled. Hopefully we get a Nintendo Direct in June that will give us some more info
Well they were open and honest (even apologetic) about Metroid Prime 4 being scrapped, so that's good.
Now, I'm thinking, BotW was announced in 2013, and it came out 4 years later. It's been 3 years now in between BotW, so I'm thinking it'll be 2021, or maybe this holiday if it's a little shorter. I really hope it's really dark like Majora's Mask, that's all I ask XD

I think it could be 2021, but you have to remember, botw took 4 years to develop because they had to make the engine, the physics, and things like that. Mostly everything is done before they even announced the sequel except the story, models, etc.
Jacob Lackey no. Aonuma just said “what we’ve shown you is currently darker.” That doesn’t confirm anything. It only takes eyes to see that.

I’m thinking 2021 for sure, and I’m honestly okay with that. This year has been a bit of a mess and I can’t see them dropping the game when they haven’t talked about it in almost a year.
If they drop Skyward Sword HD this year, I’d be more than happy with that. I’m already used to Zelda games being delayed. As long as they are masterpieces, I don’t care when they release.
Mm, Skyward Sword HD would be a thing. Especially if they added a secret new bonus area or two with all the extra hardware capabilities of nowadays

And games take a lot of time to make, especially one of such quality like breath of the wild, they need to think about how they can top that game. Now with covid 19 it’s highly unlikely it will come out this year. You may want to do more research before giving an opinion

Majora's Mask and Wind Waker, admitted to have being 'rushed out' by Anouma etc themselves and yet turn out to be among the Best games of all time.
You should know your station before calling someone out in comments; you have just waffled and appear to lack knowledge, I have laid down some hard facts.
There's no reason to have to be forced to wait 4+ years for a sequel that will totally re-use all the technical assets of Breath1 (which was a bland, empty game for the most part btw, with lots of stuff cut). Very overrated.
What 'quality'? What, leaving out 6-8 real dungeons and padding the game with 900 copy-paste clones of literal seedlings that do next-to-nothing takes time now does it?

The creators of the game would rather have a finished game then one rushed out anyway, those games may have been even better with more time. Stop assuming things and trying to label them as fact, they might completely revamp the map, add new enemies and abilities; you don’t know what they might do which is why we should probably expect the release to be later than this year

people can still buy the game from home via ordering online or eshop. So releasing it in 2020 won’t effect sales.
However, that probably depends on how far along development the game is. If it’s finished or nearly finished then a 2020 release is very possible. But if it’s still not quite there yet, COVID could delay further development.

I feel like this year is going to be mostly Mario content (it's the series 35th anniversary this year). To me it makes more sense for it to be 2021 because Zelda's 35th anniversary is coming up and it will give them some wiggle room because of Corona.
If the current Mario remasters rumour turns out to be true then next year could hold BotW 2 and SSHD. It would make sense to have two massive years to combat losing relevance against the new competition.

Yes 2021 is Zeldas 35th (and Skyward Swords 10th) anniversary. That along with needing big years to combat PS5/SeXBoX is why I think we'll also get SSHD (though it could be another remaster/ remake or offshoot game).
There's no reason to think they have any plans to celebrate Mario's 35th anniversity. Zelda, maybe, but only because the games make such a big deal out of Tingle being 35 years old. If the rumours are true the 3D Mario remakes are going to be in a collection. I can't see them releasing them separately. They'll definitely not be the big holiday release. There's still Paper Mario, but is it really big enough? Paper Mario on the Wii U was a holiday release, but that was at the end of that console's life.
@Not Yet I'm not a fan of Xbox at all but writing off a console before it's even released is just not smart. It's likely to be the most powerful of the current gen which is enough for a lot of people to upgrade. Even if you can get the same game on the previous console, people like upgrading. Look how many Wii U owners upgraded to Switch just for BotW (A game that is pretty much identical inn both platforms).
Sure pc owners will probably just get the games on pc but that's still people not playing/ buying Switch games that otherwise likely would.
Maybe it's not as immediately obvious as PS5 but the SeXBoX is still big competition for the Switch. Without the need to actually buy new hardware it could be bigger competition.
It took five years to develop Breath of the Wild. I think BOTW 2 has been in development since the end of 2017, if it is being released at the end of this year that's a full 3 years of development against the 1st games 5 year development.
But that makes sense, they're using the 1st game and a lot of its mechanics and map to make the sequel. A lot of the work is already done for them, my guess is they're changing most of the locations, making them bigger. So they already have the frame work of the map, they just have to cover it with their new work. I actually would not be surprised if it's released at the end of this year.
My guess is late 2020 or early 2021. With the Covid-19 stuff going around, the game will most likely be pushed back.
@@elitegamer9310 That's probably a likely factor, I'd love it though if they released a new trailer, something we can chew on for a while but I'm even that would be difficult to do considering they'd need people to work on the trailer.
The game will be done by early 2021, that's unquestionable. The problem is the virus will push distribution many months away. So the problem is not development, it's marketing and distribution in the middle of a world-ending pandemic.

Considering they're not only using the engines and map from the original but also a fair bit of cut content from the original and the fact that it started as dlc for the original it wouldn't surprise me if it started at the same time as the original dlc. It could well be finished already and be in testing. Before this pandemic I was 100% certain it would come out holiday 2020 but now I have a feeling it'll get pushed back but only because of producing the carts and distribution will be difficult.
On a positive note, it getting pushed back after the game is completed could lead to a seemingly faster turn about for the game after it.
I would much rather get HD remakes to fill out the rest of the year. BOTW was my first zelda and you can only learn so much without being able to play the games themselves
Imo it might be a little confusing or hard to go from BOTW to a traditional Zelda game. It's not that the other games are bad, some people still think Ocarina of time is the best of all time. What's gonna be hard is that they're more linear and not as open. In contrast they do story a bit better as well as boss battles and dungeons. So some parts will likely appeal to you, but I will warn you that BOTW was a huge departure from form. So whenever you play the others keep that in mind and that'll help you enjoy it. Hope you enjoy it whenever you get to the point 👍🏿

@@raymondjones7423 Very true. My family still had an N64 and Ocarina of Time so I started playing it after BotW and it was certainly something to get used to. But I'm actually really liking it, it puts up a different kind of challenge when playing. I'm really excited to play the other games!

In NO WAY is this game the best game ever made so i really hate it when i have to bump into diehard fanboys who consider 1 game as the best thing ever created like PLEASE give me a break with that you must be a geeky fanboy. 😑 Ocarina of Time ALSO had a 100% rating like BotW but guess what? Because it got released all the way back in 1998 game magazines, reviewers and critics alike where not around that much and so it didn't get as much aknowledge by the gaming community. This game is nothing more than the result of It's "era" and so its' just as equally innovative and "unique" as it's predecessors. PLEASE don't tell me this is the most perfect game ever made because if you do that'll only make you look like a creepy obsessed fanboy with not much in life for him to do. @Ten O in my opinion the story was too short. BotW is definitely an amazing Game but not the best. The map was very big and I like exploring but a Zelda isn't a Zelda without an amazing Story or dungeons. This was not given in BotW. I like this Zelda because of its big open world map, but the story... It was ok not the best but not the worst. The bosses in those big dungeons were still pretty boring. I just want the next Zelda to have big dungeons, a nice long story, very good bosses and a big map. But I still have over 500 hours in BotW because it was a good Zelda but not the best.
@Ten O Fact that majority of BotW's story was optional makes it the weakest plot in the franchise. Even the DS games had more plot focused on.
BOTW 2 will definitely come out 2021. The main reason for this is this is the 35th anniversary for Mario. This is Mario's year!

So guys, we did it, we reached a quarter of a million subscribers, 250,000 subscribers and still growing. The fact that we've reached this number in such a short amount of time is just phenomenal, I'm- I'm just amazed.
The idea of touting this game to be "the most ambitious Zelda game ever" is stupid. Do not expect the most glorious game to be made under a short time constraint and with a reused engine. This is a good chance to exponent, not every Zelda has to be Oot or Botw.
Well, the date for when the game actually comes out is probably going to be pushed back a bit due to corona virus, and 2020 is just Commonwealth's theory for the estimated time. Plus, keep in mind that none of us are certain as to when exactly the production for Botw 2 actually started. From the way Nintendo talked about it, they made it sound like they had started planning it right when Botw dlc packs came out with the game. And reusing the same engine doesn't mean it's not going to be that great or "ambitious" either. A lot of ppl loved the way the game looked and Aonuma said they had indeed put a lot of effort into designing the engine. We don't really know much about it rn so we'll all just have to wait and see. It might be ambitious, it might not. They did say the game was made bc they had too many ideas for it we won't know until it comes out.
It may not be too short of a time constraint if there's other Zelda games being ported/ remade for switch to still have something for the Holiday Season

Majoras mask may be smaller then ocarina of time however other then breath of the wild, its still my favourite Zelda game and even if breath of the wild 2 is smaller then breath of the wild which is huge in comparison to any other game in the series. It will still be great

Don't diss Majoras Mask, that game was fantastic.
Though it was pretty lucky that it worked out so well under the time constraints. I'd be perfectly fine waiting an extra year on BOTW 2, since many of its flaws are going to be a challenge to fix while keeping the level of exploration.
In truth, I wouldn't just be fine with it, I would prefer it. If BOTW wants to capture the exploration of the original, the story quality of Skyward Sword, the side content and themes of Majora's Mask, all while revamping the combat, they're going to need that time. The trailer seemed to me like they want to make this one sufficiently distinct from the original, which means reworking much of what would have been carried over.
I'm still banking on early 2021 unless something new comes up.

In BOTW 2 you play as zelda, trying to save link from the clutches of Gannon, while you, as Zelda, learn how to fight, make friends and solve puzzles built for someone who isn't you, everytime you enter a new temple paintings of the man your trying to save mock you and make you feel out of place. While Link has to cope with being unable to do anything, waiting patiently until that last fight, where they team up.

I play it right now
The Zelda franchise turns 35 on February 21, 2021. In fact, I could see the Zelda 35th celebration spanning from early 2021 up until mid-2022 (As the original TLoZ's original American release - July 14, 1987 - marks its 35th as well). So the entirety of 2021 would be great considering Breath of the Wild was released in early March.
Given they already have the engine, a story of sorts, the console, three years, and the resources I have hopes for a late 2020 release. But I also know that this is a new horizon for them, and a larger world means a time consuming trek to get right.
They have been pretty good about getting a new game out every 2 years, and since Links Awakening was last year and not a new game I think a late 2020 or early 2021 release is in order.
What would be cool... is if in the next BotW game, all the Link's and Zelda's from all the different timelines have to unite to seal Ganon.

I want underwater exploration, more areas like caves and other interiors we can explore, new dungeons, more enemy variety, new powers, a grappling hook to allow for climbing in the rain, and co-op functionality
I wouldn't like coop in a Zelda game it wouldn't fit there imo. But a grappling hook would be very nice or like two(like that on in twilight princess). Water exploration would also be very nice I mean they have it designed and there are some pretty corals down there so why not. But I just want more and good dungeons thats very important for me.
i think it WAS intended to come out around christmas 2020, but the outbreak probably pushed it back a couple months to early 2021
What I think Nintendo might do is use the same world but the setting is more into the future and we get to see how Hyrule is and hopefully repaired instead of ruined.
I hope the final boss is Ganon as a humanoid figure of malice with shiekah armor

I kind of hope it takes longer. The hype for a game, at least for me, is one of the best parts. The buildup to the grand release! I feel like with how Covid-19 is going rn, it could take until not only 2021, but maybe even mid-2022...with that said, new information would be amazing, especially with everyone shut up in their houses

If skyward sword got a remake I would be more than happy to wait until 2021 to get Breath of the Wild 2
Also if Ganondorf is being resurrected in BOTW 2 then it will be important to know the skyward sword story of Demise and his curse, just like how Nintendo said that playing twilight princess will be important to do before the first BOTW came out, it's a trend at this point
One thing we need to keep in mind, is that Nintendo knows what they are doing. It may not always seem that way, but in most cases, (and zelda is a ball they don't want to drop) we've seen the method behind their madness. As difficult as it is at times, we need to trust Nintendo and their decisions.
They didn't know what they were doing with the Wii U, or the N64, or the Virtual Boy.

It takes 5 years to make a completely new Zelda game from scratch. If Nintendo is going to wait until 2021 to release what is basically a heavily modded BOTW they've wasted a *lot* of time. We should be expecting a fully new game after four years.

How do you know BOTW 2 won't be as good if it releases this year? Nintendo's barely said ANYTHING about the game, so we still don't know a lot, as well as what stage of development it's in.

If/When they make a HD edition of Skyward Sword, I hope and pray they give the option of NOT using motion controls. I tried playing SS and I hated the gameplay, so much so that I stopped playing and I didn't want to because I was enjoying other aspects, but I wasn't doing a good job gameplay wise. I am so use to regular controls that I couldn't adjust to the gameplay of this.
Edit- If they were able to do it with Twilight Princess, they can do it with this one because originally TP had a Gamecube and Wii release. I got the GC version and it's still my fav Zelda game, even after playing BotW.
nintendo has responded to rumors about the release of an HD Skyward Sword, informing us that there is currently no plans for HD SS. I hope they are lying though, because although SS has sucky motion controls, it literally starts the entire zelda multiverse

I hope we get botw 2 this year than a skyward sword hd remake in 2021 as thatd be 10 years after the original release... but I also want botw 2 to be polished and awesome and stuff so a 2020 release may be rushed and especially with the covid-19 thing idk.
I hope it doesn't came too early. I wish for a masterpiece. Not a disappointment for the game. I want to see and learn more of the lore, legends, and mysteries of the entire Kingdom of Hyrule. That the beauty of the game in terms of exploring it's stories.

2021 being the 35th Anniversary of the series, added to the covid situation, I think it makes more sense for it to be released in 2021 than this year. And I don't mind, but i'd like a new trailer.

Also Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask 3D should be ported to the switch with 1080p resolution and an option to play it at 60fps. Have a Quality and Performance mode like in Fire Emblem Warriors.
