      I DO kinda hope Ganondorf manages to break free of Demise's curse and redeem himself somehow; according to the Ganondorf Dragmire animations (by the way, that doesn't sound like a desert country king name AT ALL) Ganondorf's original motivation for usurping the throne of Hyrule was to allow the Gerudo, his people, to return to Hyrule to allow them to live the best lives they could; a hypothetical motivation only SUPPORTED by his dialog with the Hero of the Wind, and his at first not wanting to kill either him OR Zelda in The Wind Waker. And guess what? The Gerudo in Breath of the Wild CAN in fact live in Hyrule now.
      Going back to The Wind Waker, Ganondorf's dialogue with the Hero of the Wind and his initial desire to NOT kill him OR Zelda in that game shows that he's not a villain/monster by CHOICE, but instead his corruption by Demise's curse FORCES him to be that villain/monster. If Ganondorf can break free of the corruption of Demise's curse, redeem himself, and be accepted by the Gerudo as an advisor to Riju in the end, Aonuma can take the franchise in a fresh new direction; and I'd LOVE that.

      @@ezrafaulk3076 There's literally NOTHING in the entire Lore of The Legend of Zelda that suggests Ganondorf is just a "tragic puppet" randomly controlled by the *Evil* Demon King Demise. 😒 As has been stated both in-game in Skyward Sword and by Voice of God(Eiji Aonuma himself) Ganondorf the Gerudo King of Thieves IS DEMISE. Whenever we see GanonDORF in a Zelda game his goals and motivations have always been consistent those of his "predecessor": he desires to obtain the full Triforce in order to become all powerful and rule the world for eternity. Now you can bring his The Wind Waker incarnation all you want trying to justify the Good Ganondorf theory but generally speaking in almost every game he has made an appereance he's been shown time and time again how little he actually cares about anything and anybody other than his lust for Power(just look at the backstory of A Link to the Past where the supposedly "benevolent" Gerudo King who cared DEEPLY about his Gerudo women *KILLED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM* 🤨 while inside of the Sacred Realm so as to prevent any of them from reaching the Triforce before he did). To be honest with you the only reason why Nintendo probably chose to write TWW Ganondorf in a simpathetic and relatable light was probably just so that the player could see a "progression" of Ganondorf's character after the events of Ocarina of Time and he wouldn't come out as just the very same character with the same exact motivation all over again now in the open seas. The Ganondorf seen in The Wind Waker was just as evil and greedy as his A Link to the Past, Ocarina, Twilight and Four Sword Adventures incarnations yet his display of "humanity" during the course(not Curse as in Demise's *Hatred* for Link and Zelda) of the story was simply the product of his many years of inmprisonment inside the Sacred Realm which lead to Demise's Gerudo form to become "introspective" of his predicament.
      Simply put the Curse of the Demon King Demise as it is constantly reborn again and again throughout different incarnations of Ganondorf is capable of *developing* his personality to such an extenct that it can evolve into something that may seem human yet is not as it cannot be from a Lore-based perspective.
      The tapestry in Breath of the Wild alone is NOT proof enough to even suggest that the evil and demonic looking Malice(Hatred) infested "mummy" in the trailer for the sequel is somehow a "good" reincarnation of the Demon King because it contradicts the events in Skyward Sword. Remember: he *swore* to torture the bloodlines of the Hero and the Goddess for ALL OF ETERNITY AS Ganondorf. Thus and because of that alone it just wouldn't make sense for him to suddenly be reborn just so that he could use the "Zonai Hand" to fight against his own Hatred/Malice/Curse and save Hyrule.

      @ezrafaulk3076 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@javiervasquez8995 uh, dude, you're contradicting yourself a LOT here, and as for your FINAL point, just because Demise VOWED to torment the princess and the Hero for all eternity DOESN'T mean that'll happen; the goal of a LOT of stories is for the hero to at least eventually STOP the villain from doing what they vowed to do. You're whole argument actually kinda PROVES my point that Ganondorf is a real person at heart, and doesn't WANT to be a monster; Demise's curse's controlling him, and like with ANY sort of control in a fantasy world, one CAN break free of it through SOME means or another.
      And like I, AND Commonwealth Realm said, allowing Ganondorf to break free of the control of Demise's curse and redeem himself would allow Aonuma to take the franchise in a fresh new direction, which he'll HAVE to do eventually; telling the EXACT SAME story with SLIGHT detail changes over and over gets BORING sooner or later.

      @ezrafaulk3076 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @UC9DrV_SmSNWi_R_XtsYR_2w and YOU'RE just ignoring the fact that at some point Aonuma's gonna HAVE to make a radical change to the franchise as a WHOLE to keep people interested in it. Considering that HE HIMSELF had Ganondorf behave in a MUCH less monstrous way in The Wind Waker, I DO in fact think Aonuma DOES in fact plan on having Ganondorf break free from the control of Demise's curse and redeem himself in some way or another, as that'd be the most NATURAL feeling way to radically change the franchise to keep people interested in it.
      Aonuma had Ganondorf show himself an ACTUAL PERSON when NOT being totally controlled by Demise's curse; all his evil deeds he did because Demise's curse was CONTROLLING him. If LINK were under the control of Demise's curse, he'd be the same way Ganondorf is.

    Also, I'm throwing it out there, we need to see the following cutscenes in Botw 2:
    1) Kass meeting Zelda and throughout the story he writes a song about her, and by the end, he finishes it.
    2) Link shows Zelda Urbosa's diary (Urbosa's final request), allowing her to find out more about her mom and how Urbosa felt about her (Zelda), giving her closure on both her mother and Urbosa.
    3) Zelda meeting with Impa and the shiekah upon defeating Ganon. Would be a nice opening to the story, then followed by her and Link in Zora's Domain speaking with King Dorephan.
    4) From Zora's Domain, she travels to the other race's towns and gives them closure about their fallen Champions too.

    Breath of the Wild's story could feel somewhat flat at times, but I really loved the narrative they put together with Zelda's struggles and failures. She fell so far and lost so much but in the end rose up and saved the boy she loved and then the rest of the world by herself. It was so epic and I love how it came full circle.

I can't imagine the sequel being extremely cutscene heavy, so I'm curious to see how they handle it

    • @HelloKolla

      The problem with BOTW was that what was there was good, but THERE WASN'T ENOUGH. Not enough voice acting, no Witcher 3-esque narratively driven side quests, not enough emotional moments, and not enough focus on characters and their struggles and thoughts. I see many people saying that Zelda stories are unnecessary, but my rule is this; if a game has a interesting setting and/or world, ignoring the plot and characters is a waste. I am actually optimistic for the sequel because of this; Anouma said that the devs were playing Red Dead 2 in a BOTW 2 interview with IGN. Since that game has a wonderful narrative, I hope the devs realize the importance of a story in their games and implement it in BOTW 2.

Swimming and using a Zora Tunic with some iron boots or some other ancient gadget to stay and walk underwater for extended periods of time would be a nice addition. Because if they reuse the same map, but add a ton of stuff including the verticality of underwater areas and hidden dungeons, that would add so much more to the exploration. But, whatever they do I know it'll be good. They have yet to disappoint.

      I totally agree! How cool would it be to still have the same beautiful Hyrule but some areas that had previously been blocked off become explorable? Personally, I would love to see an extended underground cave system throughout Hyrule where you find just as much beauty as the above world (the scene in LOTR where Gandalf shines a light to illuminate the beautiful halls in Moria come to mind), with dungeons set in places we couldn't get into before (the citadel, the arbiters grounds, in one of the mountains like Hebra mountains or Death mountains, underneath Lake Hylia). That and a more robust storyline would be a dream come true.
      It's going to be super interesting to see what concepts they decide to mess around with. With BOTW, they really took the series in a new direction with the open world concept and voice acting (even if some of it left a lot to be desired). I'm torn on whether I think they will keep pushing things in a new direction (making Zelda playable, Link talking, etc.) or if they will simply build on the concepts they know already work from BOTW.

    I always hear that Breath of the Wild had a bad or a basic story, but frankly that really isn't true. If you sit down and look at all of the memories in order, it's a pretty wpic story about an adventure and journey across the land to recruit powerful allies necessary to battle an ultimate evil; all while our hero nurtures a bond with his princess by enacting his duties fesrlessly and our princess battles with her demons to overcomes them in order to grow into a true sovereign.
    The Breath of the Wild story is a pretty great story. The problem isn't that the story was bad. The problem is that the storytelling was bad. Had Breath of the Wild told its story in real-time, with you being required to follow a more linear path to trigger each of these story flags, most of these people wouldn't have been calling the story bad.

    Rewatching this video because of the premier just now. I think the story should be done in sections. 1. linear until the first dungeon, then open world on your way to your first dungeon. Then open world on your way to dungeon 2, then dungeon 2. 2. More linearity, and then open world between either dungeon A or B in either order you want, then open world between the other. 3. The reveal trailer and the battle against the rat, then dungeon 5, either with or without open world between the two, then open world to dungeon 6, then the dungeon. 4. More linearity, then open world with your choice between the order of dungeon c and d with open world between the two. 5. Finally, everything after that until the final battle or dlc 1. 6. Then, the final battle and or dlc.

    In the BotW 2 trailer we see Link's hand absorb the Spirit Hand that was on Ganondorf's chest. This bares significance because it was Link's Sword hand that was affected. What if he can no longer use the Master Sword because of this? What if the Master Sword/Fi rejects Link from that point on and deems him unworthy to wield the blade because he is 'infected' by the Spirit Hand? This would render Link unable to defeat Ganondorf. Then Ganondorf could escape and revitalize himself.

    • @cloud1973
      @cloud1973 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't say it would be because the spirit hand 'infected' him, more as Perhaps the Sword would see the Hand as a separate entity as Unworthy of the sword and by extension rendering link unable to wield the sword since they are attached, or the Malice that went onto link in one of the trailers infected link and made him unable to wield it due to it's corrupting properties.

  • @Metroyeti17
    @Metroyeti17 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Structured plot doesn't necessitate linear gameplay. The game could easily open up to a point where Link has to raid different dungeons to find a way to Ganon (like how OoT required freeing the sages) but instead of making each temple happen in order, Link can go in whatever order he chooses.

    • @dragonbornexpress5650
      @dragonbornexpress5650 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reminds me a lot of Ocarina of Time. In that game, while you technically had some linearity, it didn't appear as such because you could tackle at least 3 out of 6 dungeons in the Adult Era in any order you wished. Sure, it made sense to start off with the Forest Temple, but you could technically go for the Forest Temple, Fire Temple, and the dreaded Water Temple in however order you wanted...

    I think they have set up the sequel perfectly for Just Cause-style progression.
    What I mean by that is Ganondorf’s army could have maliciously conquered the various settlements across Hyrule and Link and Zelda’s role is to liberate them and slowly free the residents of hyrule. This could be done by clearing dungeons/shrines, or simply by fighting off malice-corrupted foes stalking among the shops/houses.

  • @elitegamer9310
    @elitegamer9310 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Here's how I think BotW 2's story should be like.
    I think that BotW 2 should take a more linear path for it's story. I see the game being divided into 3 different acts.
    The first act will have Link and Zelda searching for the source of Malice in Hyrule to prevent another Calamity. They will go to the 3 Lomei labyrinths, which will be the first dungeons of the game. Deep below, they will solve puzzles, defeat enemies, and the bosses will be Ancient Zonai warriors based on dragons, owls, and boars. Each dungeon will reveal a clue to Link and Zelda of the source of Malice, which will lead them to below Hyrule castle.
    For the 2nd act, after Ganondorf returns, he will build up his army and take oved Hyrule one region at a time. This act will focus on Link and Zelda freeing regions from Ganondorf's control and/or gathering elements to help fight against Ganondorf. For example, Ganondorf could attack Zora's Domain and use his Malice to poison the water, cutting Hyrule off from its supply of pure water.
    For the final act, Link and Zelda will make the final preparations before going to war with Ganondorf. This could be them upgrading the Master Sword, or taking out Ganondorf's outlying forces like the Yiga Clan. The final battle for Hyrule will be a massive war on Hyrule field and on the Great Platue.

      why bother making the gerudo revert back to being minions of ganondorf when we have seen them be staunch supporters of hyrule this time around?
      and outside of the yiga, the sheikah have always been the protectors of hyrule, too. in fact the yiga defected from the sheikah because they felt betrayed long in the past. so basically we'll never have sheikah really be villains as we already have a named villain sect for them. as for a ruse that is also not likely because we saw the divide between the sheikah and the yiga in one of the side-quests in the game with a sheikah (who was a former yiga spy) being blackmailed into once again working for the Yiga at the threat of his children's lives.
      And as for "history is written by the victors" who is typically the victors in the wars? The Blood of The Goddess and The Spirit of The Hero. It might take time, but in the end the Hero eventually gets the win.

    If they truly want to make this game the darkest in the series... They gotta kill off a character through a cutscene. Not in a "haha well that person's gone until the next game" but an ACTUAL death that has impact.
    Imagine something like this: Impa, while meditating, is disturbed by strange sounds coming from outside. Being the elderly, small thing that she is, she has Paya to check what's going on. Paya is immediately pushed to the side by a revitalized Ganondorf, who while still quite skinny and gaunt, looks like a fairly normal person. He approaches Impa, picks her up and slams her into the wall. Impa tells Paya to run, and the scene ends with Ganondorf killing Impa by snapping her neck.
    Would Nintendo make it gory? Probably not, but, we just NEED a death scene

    I really want this to turn into a sorta Lord of teh Rings situation where he has only become more powerful, the odds are stacked against them, and the hope is dwindling, involving perhaps, rather than Link just being badass and one-man-army-ing all of these enemies (like he does in Skyward Sword), instead there are massive scaled battles between humans and the forces that oppose Ganon and Ganon's armies, in which Link and Zelda are leading or are a part of, helping set the tone for the desperation of the situation, showing the extent of Ganon's power over the land and the human's hope that is there to quench it.

    Maybe the sequel could bring back the sages. I think the sages should be Hetsue (sorry I spelled it wrong), Yanoobo(again sorry),Sidon, Piyah, Teba, Riju, and Zelda. They creators said the game will be darker than Majora’s Mask, what’s darker than killing of a character we all known and loved. When Link finds Zelda as the light sage, he will be uderly shocked, and start bursting into tears, there Zelda will confess her feeling to Link and than thanks him. But Link runs toward Zelda not wanting her to go but gets transported out of the Sage chamber. Perfect right.

    Maybe ease up on the breaking of weapons other than that I had no problems with either story(cause there was a lot there contrary to popular belief). Make Sidon and Riju important seeing they are descendants of the 2 most important champions story wise. Also give Ganondorf a big booming voice in every language

    But you can have a more linear story without having a super linear game. For exapmple after every dungeon a cutscene plays that is slightly modified for the location but no matter where you are or wich dungeo you did the story is more driven

    It would be sick if we immediately go into battle with Ganondorf and each time we progress into the fight, we skip backwards (or he runs away in time) into these ganon-memories ( "manonries " lol I tried) play backwards and go into awesome cut scenes into sealing Ganondorf originally. For example, like a time travel into ocarina of Time (if this is the same Ganondorf as OoT) and other Zelda games. That would be a sick "cat and mouse" Chase and Easter eggs with referencing many many locations to continue the fight. Almost like how GameCube's "Zelda cloan" Star Fox adventures did it in different planets... Sheesh there are so many sweet ideas that could make this game incredible. I know they won't drop the ball on this. I personally enjoy linear Zelda's as I found myself putting BOTW down frequently and completing little by little or spend a whole day completing a check list of tasks which can be time consuming (intentionally for me) but, also, boring. Content and only a few types of enemies was my main grip. BOTW is fantastic though and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

    I'm honestly at a loss when I hear people wishing the LoZ series would go back to the straight forward gameplay that leaves everyone who plays with the exact same experience. It's so cool to me to hear about the different approaches people take to get to a certain point.
    Now, don't get me wrong, OoT is one of my favorite games ever, but I adore BotW and the fact that it is so different from all of the past games is incredible to me. Taking a step back and returning to the linear, hand-holdey gameplay would be such a huge letdown.

    I have a theory!!! Since we see both the Rito and Zoras in Breath of the Wild and with all the subtle hints about the other games from various Timelines, it can be interpreted as the Timelines had a convergence sometimes before BotW... in order to increase the scope of the game for BotW2, what if they use a mechanic that appeared in the pivotal game Ocarina of Time??? That mechanism being Time Travel!!! What if BotW2 is the Convergence Event??? But the actual event takes place 10,000 years before BACK DURING THE 1ST CALAMITY WAR!!! What if the Hero from the 1st Calamity War is the BotW hero!!??? Using Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, and Oracle of Ages type backwards and forwards jumping, YOU set up the Convergence Event and possibly end the Curse of Demise!!!

    I believe the following:
    1) This is Act 2 of the story we started in Breath of the Wild - not a separate game.
    2) This incarnation of the trio needs to #BreakTheCycle of malice & rebirth.
    3) Whatever you did/did not do in Act 1 should have repercussions on Act 2 (Mass Effect style).

  • @nobrainer1330

    I...honestly dont think they would have to ditch doing whatever you wanted in the big sandbox that is botw, I feel that they WILL make the story more linear but...still have the " Do whatever you want " just like the first game did. If anything, the beginning of the game will be straight forward for the story, but once you finish it you have free roam to do what you want (Not like you wouldn't have gotten to do what you wanted already with obvious side quests and stuff)

    Zelda says Ganon has given up on reincarnation during the final boss fight of botw. She knows he reincarnates and this cycle continues. I think this is the first they actually acknowledge that fact. Anyways, then in the epilogue, she says she wants to rebuild her kingdom to be even greater than before, and have all her people work together with her and Link to accomplish this goal. But once they discover Ganon's body and watch him come back to life, perhaps now they will find a way to destroy him permanently and end the cycle. Zelda is more of a researcher in botw, so maybe she will think of a different approach on how to deal with Ganon this time?

    • @yang6642

    I really, REALLLLLLY hope that zelda isn’t captured again, and that at some point you can contact her and not just play alone. A really cool twist would be if you’re not even Link in this game, but instead you play as Zelda... I also hope that you can see hyrule rebuilt even a little and find new towns and cool people, like the champions’ younger siblings and such.

    I paused at 6:35 when a couple of questions popped into my head. Is anyone else interested in seeing Ganon get a more meaningful Victory? I'm a big time Zelda fan, but He almost never wins, and when he does the hero always arises to strike him down. Is anyone else interested in how the story ends, like the end of Demise? There will eventually be an end, even if it's the sun consuming the Earth.

  • @wamsjams

    This is probably be a stupid idea but I had a thought pop up into my head for botw2 where we could explore beyond the map given to us in the first game or, underneath hyrule is just a whole other world on it's own. Cause I thought it was interesting how all the shrines and towers came from underground, and some of the layouts for the trials are massive! That's a lot of digging! But unless it was already underground in the first place then there's gotta be more, that's just how I see it. I'm probably thinking too much about this....

    I think this game is going to be like a merging of all previous Zelda games. Ever noticed all the little Easter eggs in BotW? Also notice everyone saying things like, "that reminds me of that Zelda game." Or " that looks like something from that game!" I've seen things in these trailers that remind me of several previous games.
