Thanks Ed for this review of this 2022 Hyundai Elantra Essential model, (Canadian spec)!...Not sure what the US equivalent would be, or even if their is a comparable model. But I'll check Hyundai's US website. Terrific car Ed. Big fan of Hyundai so I am already a sold & loyal owner. I like this New gen' Elantra a lot, it's exterior styling & the interior alot, especially the front instrument panel layout, & cool center stack design. The only issue I would have with this vehicle, is the fact that I never buy BASE MODEL cars/SUV's! I need more bells n whistles than what this base model offers, but it's still a terrific car, with great build quality, features, the best warranty there is, & because it's a Hyundai, it has great value!...Thanks for another comprehensive review!

Also, do I understand it's ditto on just plain cruise control vs. the adaptive kind or whatever it's called by Hyundai? I apologize if I missed your mention already as I'm hard of hearing. Hyundai's are not customizable, each trim level is carbon copied. So if you only wanted push button start, you'd have to go up a level.

@@edsgarage001 So I did end up doing a trade in, got really ripped off by the dealership. My engine was approved for replacement, but it was going to take a little over a year before it had a new engine. No loaner, and I've got no other car. They gave me about $2000 less than actual price. But the trade off is that I've got 10 years on manufacturer's and bumper to bumper warranty.
Still happy with my new elantra
By the way. Why does the unit you're reviewing have a key for ignition? Mine has a star button and that's it

Just bought this exact same car in the same color. I pick it up this Friday. With the current shortages everywhere this is a hell of a deal.
The dealer had this car in stock. Everyone else that sells something comparable is a 8-10 month factory order.
This is also the most affordable new "real" car you can buy in Canada unless you want something like a Chevy Spark or a Mitsubishi Mirage.
$26,040 with tax (Alberta) AND interest over the course of the loan.
