I upgraded from a 2010 Nissan Altima to the 2022 Hyundai Elantra SEL this past Wednesday. This car is everything, stylish, has a sport appearance, an eye catcher to say the least lol. The gas mileage is great, it drives as smooth as butter, very big on convenience and tech. It’s great for my everyday driving needs. Definitely worth the buy
Don’t worry, there’s always a trade off somewhere. It’s not the tech that’s important, it’s what’s underneath the hood. Kia and Hyundai know they can’t compete with Honda and Toyota in terms of quality and reliability so there going the tech and design route. Which is fine for most people because most people lease for 3 or 4 years. Don’t see a lot of 10+ years Hyundai and Kia on the road. At least not here in Canada. But lots of civics and Corolla.
@@cyrano661 I beg to differ, although this particular model has a CVT, which I have to say is a total zonk, the reliability on Hyundai and Kia has been pretty good over the years. I know tons of people who have old Hyundai’s and kias and they love them to this day and only do regular maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tires, etc.). I think the reliability ratings will go down for these cars that use these CVT transmissions. Me, personally I’d rather go for a car that you can get with a manual and learn how to use that than buying a CVT any day of the week.

Just bought a 2023 Hyundai Elantra less than a week ago. Had 45 miles on the odometer. Still had the plastic on a lot of the components. The whole thing, with all the fees and fixin's and taxes and the whole shootin' match out the door for right at about $27k. And to be honest it's like waking up and still being in a dream every day. It's so comfortable, nice, and most of all, smooth. It's like piloting a shuttlecraft. Worth every goddamn cent. Just a fantastic, amazing, awesome all around car. Smooth and quick, and quiet, and comfortable, and to be honest. I truly believe it's the most beautiful car in the world...for under $30k. It just looks so beautful and sleek and fast. I got blue with black rims. I can't tell you how happy I am. Every day I wake up and I actually....until I get work up real good, I honestly think either the car was just in a dream or that somehow someone is going to come take it away form me because I'm not supposed to have something like this.
Yeah, but the quality isn't there yet and would still chose Toyota or Honda. Although Hyundai has came a long way, and are much better than they used to be
I work at National LGA and we actually just got these in for rental. I can't believe that we got all the base models. The SEL looks way better with that digital gauge.
Right? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The dumbest thing you can do is remove sedans - thinking EVERYBODY'S into suvs. Thats lost money for those that are looking for sedans. And even performance sedans are cool. Thats why the charger is doing so well to this day
The 2018 Elantra Sport was my favorite design. They keep refreshing it and I’m not sure how I feel about the triangular design. Awesome tech though for Hyundai!
Imo the 2021 N-Line is much better than the 2017-2018 Sport by far, especially the interior design, materials, and tech. The 2017-2018 is much better than the 2019-2020 though. The 2019 mmc was just about the worst ever. Not even sure what Hyundai was thinking there.
I love my 2018. Bought it new. Got a great deal as well. Got the most basic model, manual, no back up cam, no touch screen. It's got a reliable gas sipping MPI 2.0 engine. I'm so glad I was able to get a manual. The gas mileage is a tradeoff for power. That's the only thing. I wish it had a little more power but I'm ok with that when in the warm weather I get over 45mpg. 59k today actually. Engine still sounds and runs great. I change the synthetic oil every 4k.
16 inch steelies with wheel covers used to be the base wheel of a lot of mid-sized family sedans not that long ago. So 16 inch alloys on a lower trim compact sedan isn't too bad. It will also help with the ride and fuel economy. The N will probably have 18 or 19 inch wheels...
Thank you for the review. I am ditching my leased Honda vehicle and getting this. This car offers so much more than any Hondas or Toyota's out there. I test drove this car today and made my decision 150% that I will ditch all my family Japanese brand cars.
Lol. Um before you do that. Why not read a newspaper and see how many of their engines are blowing up, not to mention the law suits. Give me a Toyota over this junker any day
Definitely see some K5 influence there. Miles better design than the 2017-2020. Personally I think it needs more engine options like the Civic has but it still scoots along nicely

As an owner of a 2015 Elantra GT, the car looks cool. That grab bar is a zonk as well as the CVT. My car has a 2 liter 173 HP motor with a 6 speed auto.
I have an 18. Electric blue. It's a base SE and has the manual transmission. No back up camera, no touch screen. Less to go wrong. I have 59k. Runs fantastic. I change the synthetic oil every 4-4.5k, vacuum, dust, weekly, I am hoping to put 250k on it!

Really like the looks of the new Elantra. A real good departure from the face lifted last Generation. My 09 Elantra has rear pockets on both seats and a center armrest. It’s funny what manufacturers choose to cost cut for other features.
Love the color & how black wheels work with it. Actually this is a similar base design to the KIA K5. This Dealership needs to talk to their Detail Guy(s) because they barely wiped over the outer surface of those wheels. Black (wheels) show EVERYTHING 3:42+ ...absolutely inexcusable for New Car Prep. I am getting my first car soon and this is one of my options and honestly the fact that it isn’t that fast is a good thing for me. I am still learning to drive so having a fast car would be too much pressure haha
Great review Joe! I'm not hocking my '19 civic ex turbo for this elantra. For similar sticker price, I have much more power, manage 40mpg when not pushing the turbo. Power driver seat, sunroof, heated cloth seats, all the safety tech, and even a rear armrest. I am curious what the n line delivers, though. Keep up the good work!

Raiti, love you man! It was because of you I started my own channel! You kept calling it a CVT and it's not. Hyundai calls the transmission an IVT (intelligent variable transmission). Works the same way, but the pulleys are replaced by chains so they are much more durable as opposed traditional CVTs.
Depends which brands man. For toyota I know they use chains for cvts.
It's all semantics.
Still a CVT.
I am getting my first car soon and this is one of my options and honestly the fact that it isn’t that fast is a good thing for me. I am still learning to drive so having a fast car would be too much pressure haha
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Booked mine today. Picking up in a week. Thanks for review
Picking mine up Wednesday, can’t wait
Nice interior
I agree with you!
Man does this Elantra look good way better than the last model hopefully they make an N line Elantra now that would look nice
Thanks for the compliment and letting me share it with you!
Great video and always giving all the details about the vehicles!!👍👍👍👍
I love this!
I am so glad that I can share it with you!
Hey Joe, just letting you know that the SE and SEL headlights are projection and not LED. With that being said, great review overall! The limited trim will be my next commuter car for sure.
Thanks for that great info.
Hyundai and Kia are producing some seriously nice rides ...
They are bringing their "A" game!
@@RaitisRides , my next ride for everyday use might be a Kia K5 or the Elantra or Sonata
@@richki.24 Nice choice!
hey Joe great review as always keep em coming.
I'm waiting for the 2021 mazda3 turbo review lol.
It should be here in a couple weeks.
