Its first para says that Pakistan will withdraw its forces from occupied Kashmir only then a plebiscites would be held. Has Pakistan fulfil this requirements as promised ? Instead it waged wars on India in 1965, 1971 and 1999 as described by Mir Saheb and tried to grab more Indian land. In view of those subsequent developments UN resolution stands null & void as on date. What you would say on the daily protest processions by residents of POK for its inclusion in India? Compare both sides of Kashmir, POK people want to cross the border to come to Indian part of Kashmir. Once one of our PM Chandrashekhar offered full J&K to his counterpart Nawaz Sharif provided Pakistan is ready to take back all Muslims remained in India after partition ! Mr. Hamid Mir, my father, was a Retd. Major in the Pakistani Army. He fought during the 2nd World War and was a classmate of late Ayub Khan. My father was stationed in Kashmir during 1965 war with India. He mentioned that during the 1965 war, the Pakistan Army was twice 25 miles away from the Sirinaghar capital of Jamu Kashmir. Then, the commanding officer twice recalled the attacks. This is the true face of the corrupt Pakistani Army generals. What was the deal that the then commanding officer was doing.

I am a Bangladeshi journalist. Mr. Mir, you have elaborated the intricate issue. I visited Pakistan number of times and interviewed few important personalities. The books you have referred here are (except two) in my possession. I only differ about Gen Zia. He was not the person who first killed a Pak officer. Lt Col M R Choudhury was the senior most in Chittagong as Brig Majumder was taken away by Gen Khadim. Lt Col M R Choudhury was brutally killed by the Pak force on 25th March night- the first military martyr of 1971. The then Maj Zia was sent to unload the weapons from a ship at Chittagong port by his commanding officer Lt Col Janjua. When Zia was brought back by his fellow officers from the middle of the way, he found all the soldiers were highly agitated by the news that Lt Col M R Choudhury went missing. By this time few hundred Bengali recruits of East Bengal Regimental Center were also butchered by the Baluch regiment. This made the situation uncontrollable. And the soldiers killed Lt Col Janjua who was brought by Zia to the battalion. I personally interviewed the comrades of Gen Zia number of times. The son of Shaheed Lt Col M R Choudhury is still alive and his name is Col Mahmudur Rahman Choudhury (Retd). He is the advisory editor of the journal which I edit... Gen Zia was a soldier and he is still the most popular leader of our country. Pak army should learn the lessons ( I think they will never)... Bloody civilian theroy must end. Thanks again.

On 30 January 1971, an Indian Airlines domestic Fokker F27, also named "Ganga", flying from Srinagar Airport to the Jammu-Satwari Airport, was hijacked by two Kashmiri separatists belonging to the National Liberation Front (NLF, the antecedent of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front). The hijackers were Hashim Qureshi and his cousin Ashraf Qureshi. The aircraft was flown to Lahore Airport in Pakistan where the passengers and the crew were released and the aircraft was burnt down.
India retaliated to the hijacking and subsequent burning by banning overflights of Pakistani aircraft over Indian territory.

I hope in your book you have uncovered the role that ZA Bhutto played in creating and crafting the tragedy. It was not Mujib but Bhutto who actually created Bangladesh simply so that he become the PM. Bhutto is on record as stating that he had no intention of becoming the opposition leader - despite the resounding victory of Mujib. Bhutto was a very poor number two in that contest.

I am from Bangladesh, I have to say with great sadness that Mr. Hamid, thank you very much for presenting the truth in such a beautiful and fluent manner, till today I have not seen any leader of Pakistan to present the true and correct history.
Such is the situation in Pakistan that they are very afraid to give true information.
They are actually seen doing talk shows on various TV channels on 16th December, but it is a matter of regret but the truth is that some of them are showing the true history of their tribe. Amazing thing, where so many evidences and so many books have been written but Pakistani political leaders have never dared to raise the arguments from these correct histories, Hamid Sahib my question why?

And you need to know this matter. On March 27, 1971, Ziaur Rahman did not read the first Declaration of Independence from Kalurghat Radio Center in Chittagong. Before that, Mr. MA Hannan, a leader of Awami League, read the Declaration of Independence on March 25.
And all of them read the declaration on the order of Bangobandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,
But Ziaur Rahman did not declare independence on 27th March by himself but he was requested to do so.
And above all, what I want to say is that on March 7, 1971, Bangobandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the independence of Bangladesh.

However before night of March 25, operation search light he had instructed his party to prepare for every possibility.in case he was arrested, the people 9f East Pakistan should not rest till they have expelled every single West Pakistani soldier. He was arrested tge same night. Very sad, we have not learnt from history.

This is one of the most brilliant and hard hitting piece of video essay ever done on the breakup of Pakistan. What makes it unique is the references provided by Mir Sahab. I had read few of the books he mentioned, and now have an urge to get my hands on the remaining ones he mentioned.
It seems those powers be have not learned a thing from debacle of 71, and are hell bent on repeating the same today. Unfortunately there is no more land to loose, and this time complete disintegration will be the only outcome.

All said and done is not the whole truth.The Pakistan of 1947 was a Dream devoid of certain political, economic and geographical realities of the time. These realities were not kept under focus while drafting various Constitutions of the then Pakistan.Such hasty drafting of constitutions in ignorance of realities of the time pertaining to Muslims of United India.Creation of Pakistan was partial remedy for the muslims of united India.Such partial remedies, resolved fewer issues and created many challenges.The agenda is still unresolved and a🎉burden on the Consciousness international community.

Yes a new world order was shaping up, with 2 super powers, Americans putting pressure on British to finish up their Colonial projects, mostly in South Asia. Jinnah was short on time, he was fully aware of useless leaders of Muslim league. He was also fully aware of aspirations of an incompetent officer Corp being lead by one particular officer whonwas reprimanded by the British army for cowardice during the WW2.
It is an historic fact, a less known one at it that there were supposed to be more than one Pakistan and not one united one, but i shall leave that debate for another time.
Its a sad travesty that this country had never been allowed to mature, the founder of this country was sent to Ziarat, a place which didn't had any amenities or access to health care even in 2023,only few years back got their gas, yet jinnah was sent there. He died on the side of a road in an ambulance that ran out lf petrol, so guess things are not as simple as you make them sound. The only thing changed for people of this land are the feet inside the boot, before 14th Augus 1947 it was British, since then its been brown ones. But the boot remains on the neck of our people. Things wouldn't have been any better for Muslims if remained united, Jinnah was right about that atleast.
But let us not worry much as this experiment is galloping towards its eventual collapse and we can thank those who are wearing those boots.
