Nothing like truly remote fishing where you're the only people around. Just you, the sound of your reel, the water and the birds. That settles it, tomorrow I'm going to get some line on my new reel!
Dude, let us know how it goes. Send up pics or something.
My wife and I went to Alaska for a belated honeymoon in 2003. We spent a day chasing kings. Holy crap, that was amazing! Silvers on my bucket list, too. Definitely need to head back to Alaska!
Thanks Brian.
Some of my best fishing days have been in bad weather...and fly fishing river takes me back to when my pops first taught me to fly fish! Beautiful country and terrain! Great episode fellas!
Thank you Jake
Kodiak is such a wild and challenging place with a beauty you can never fully describe to someone.
My favorite Alaskan destination. It's been very good to us.
Loved the fishing addition to the daily series. Made the gloomy day in Alaska look like a day in paradise by my standards. One day I'll be up there doing the same thing.
Thank you!!
Come on! yeah , I love the adventure we are all on I AM HOOKED ☔️🎣🎣
Thanks so much Rick
Nothing like a little cast and blast trip. Nothing better then silvers in Alaska. I hop to more we get to see a nice billy hit the ground. Thanks for sharing the awesome and adventure with us. Keep them come please
Thanks for watching Kris
The goat hunt would be great, but with the weather the fishing is a dandy consolation.
We're were pretty happy to catch some fish. In addition to a bunch of excellent goat meat, we came home with a bunch of coho, and some cod. Enough for several months worth of fillets and fish tacos.
Fishing with that soundtrack was the perfect mix of the outdoors and blissful melody. So relaxing and peaceful.
Thanks Jacob
Hard to feel bad on missing a hunt if you get to fish those kind of waters for a hard to beat meal. Sorry bout the weather but man, what a great video showing all the landscapes and awesome senery. Thanks and keep em coming.
Thanks Pidge
Great video work!! I am not into fishing that much but because of the quality of the film work I really enjoyed watching the fish be caught. This is how to get people that aren’t into the outdoors into the outdoors!! Very appreciated.!! Keep it up
Thanks Kyle
Wow, great footage of some beautiful country , fishing is a great pass time especially there !!
Thank you Kevin.
Great Job!! Loving the filming and how you are showing the country.
Thanks Chris.
Awesome video, even in poor weather conditions the Kodiak’s beauty is overwhelming. Thanks for bringing us on your bad weather day fishing trip! Keep it up!
The small details and scenery of these films are amazing!! You guys have done an amazing job keep it up fellas!
Thank you Vince.
Wow! That's amazing scenery. I can't wait to fish for salmon some day. Looking forward to the goat hunt tomorrow!
Thanks Jacob. Today's goat hunt is my favorite of the entire 45.
The salmon fishing looks good enough to just about be worth the trip up by itself! #jealous
Thanks Bill. Can't lie, I've been there more than once just to fish. It's definitely worth it.
The production was superb and great content. Alaska is on the bucket list for me and y’all are making me want to go even more. When I make it up there, I think I better add an extra day or 2 to catch some fish. Thanks for making me jones of Alaska.
Thanks Ryan. If you're going, it's worth a few extra days to fish.
Just another day here on “ the rock”, Kodiak! No place compares! Simple!😉👍
There’s magic on Kodiak!
Killer footage of some gorgeous country! The fishing looks like a complete blast. A cedar plank and an ice cold beer seem to be on my mind now. Thanks guys.
Thanks Phil
Best video in the series yet! Great production quality. Always dreamed of taking my old man up to Alaska to chase salmon - this adds some motivation. Keep it coming guys!
Thanks Kyle.
SUCH a beautifully done video! I really enjoyed the change of pace. Can't wait for the next one! (:
Thanks Jessie. This next one is my favorite. Working on the finishing touches now, and will be uploading soon.
Another beautiful video and amazing scenery. The mix of human interaction and nature shots makes me feel like I'm casting a line alongside you all. The more I see of this beautiful area the more I want to head up there. Thanks again for sharing your amazing adventures. Keep 'em coming.
Hope you make it up there sometime. Thanks for watching.
Sweet! That's the Alaska super bonus right there....hunting and catching some nice Coho/Silver Salmon!
Hey boys keep up the good work loving these short films iam bloody hooked watching them here in Australia and spreading the word about great stuff again 👌👌
Thanks Stephen, that means a lot to us. Cheers.
wow, just wow. The very definition of great story telling is that you had me captivated, even though I wasn't really interested in watching a 'fishing video'. The cinematography from the 8:00 to 9:30 was KILLER. I literally put my phone down, turned the tv off, and just gave it my full attention. Well done guys, please keep the content flowing and I'll keep passing the channel along. Side note: what sunglasses are those? at the end..
thanks. We really appreciate the help. The glasses are Oakley two-face
Fish is for dinner for a while. great video guys
Indeed. And it's outstanding.
Love coming back every night to catch up on the next episode. Thanks for continuing to share guys! I remember October 2nd last fall well, spent the day on the south side of the island battling flooded rivers, storm, and alders, ha. You had way more fun! Keep up the show! And get us back on the mountain :)
Come on man, you gotta leave a link to your hunt video here. Hope everyone will check out Venture West's Kodiak Goat hunt... here's the trailer: th-cam.com/video/lbvs7pyDkwU/w-d-xo.html
I’m really enjoying all of the videos. I’m from Southeast Alaska and I feel like you guys are doing a great job of showing the vastness and the beauty of Alaska very well. I really appreciate the great cinematography!
Jason
We appreciate it, Jason! You live in a beautiful state.
Are you guys going to do a follow up and show some of the meal dishes you made out of the various harvests? Keep up the good work gents!
Absolutely... It'll be a playlist on our channel we're calling "Gamey" and will be starting it as soon as the season ends.
You guys are making it very difficult to narrow down my next hunt! Good job guys! I wish I had more video/pics of my western hunts. It's hard for me to focus on photo and video when I'm so focused on the hunt. Your videos are really giving me the drive to do more to document my adventures.
Thanks man. Do it, and make sure you share them with us.
Man this video made me miss living in the PNW! Salmon fishing is my favorite! I love cooking them up on a wood fire grill and eating the belly meat with all the fat.
Again! Another epic video! I love what you guys are putting out there!
THANK YOU!!
Great use of some down time! Thank you for sharing every step of the adventure. Alaska is a place of beauty!
Thanks Robert. We love it up there.
P.S. One of your best cinematography wise. Beautiful.
Thank you.
Salmon Salmon is always fun just to kill some time for weather to clear.
So much fun. Thanks Pat.
I am so lucky to live in kodiak and live all of these adventures...!
Saltery is one of my favorite places ever...
Thanks Marcus! you definitely live in a beautiful place
I used to live there. Moved to Georgia for a bit and we are moving to wasilla in the summer. I killed a bison when I was 7 up on saltery cove
Cool guys good way of waiting out the weather and still enjoy the hunt that would be the best hunt ever for me hunting and fishing all in the same trip
Thanks Kenny
Your videos are great! MAkes me feel like I’m right there. Be proud! The mountain project is a contender...
Thanks so much. Means a lot to us.
Nice way to spend a bad day great filming
Thanks Audey. Hope you get a chance to catch some giant NZ trout next year.
Nothing better than salmon fishing while you wait for the weather to clear. This was one of your best episodes from a filmographic standpoint. Great shots from the drone. What kind is it?
Thanks Leonidas. We have an old Inspire 1 we're still dragging around with us.
Really enjoying your videos really good content! Any plans to go farther with your pack goat series? Or did the recent laws regarding pack goats in certain areas change your mind? Thank you
I'm not sure about the pack goats. I'll get Chase to do an update soon. They're still a little young, but should be ready to start carrying a small load soon.
Very nice fish, I’d love to catch one.
Thanks Chris.
Awesome that’s oudoorsin if that’s even a word !!!👍😃
Man, if "vape" can actually be a word these days, oudoorsin should have been in there forever. Thanks Omar!
The Mountain Project I know right ! Awesome trip looks like you guys had a great time !!!
Love hunting Kodiak! Never hunted goats there, but lots of deer. If you get another chance at the COHO's try a #3 Mepps with green or orange body!!
Same here. We're going to try to hunt deer on Kodiak in 2019... we'll be sure to try the Mepps if given a chance.
Glad to see you got to catch some chromers, those silvers are the funnest to catch! Loved the videoography on this episode, I love how you're capturing the pure beauty of Alaska. Oh just fyi...smack them suckers in the head next time before trying to pull the hook out ;) keeps them fingers hook free! Good work fellas.
thanks for the advice Aaron... my best fish got back in the river while taking a photograph, your advice would have prevented that.
Awesome footage of Kodiak in all its beauty! Did you see very many deer?
Not a lot actually. Not nearly as many as we saw in the spring of 2016 when we were there for Chase's bear hunt.
Awesome videos!
Thank you!
Way to go, Jay...I'd love to catch something that big on my fly rod! What weight rod were you fishing up there?
Thanks Zach. Definitely the biggest fish I've ever had on a fly rod. I've hooked into a few 7-10lb rainbows in NZ, but couldn't land them. I was using a 7wt for these suckers.
Your bad days look pretty good to me
Thanks Anthony. Wasn't a bad day at all. Just a little wet, but you can always dry off.
Dang, reminds me of fishing Oregon rivers for silvers, being in AZ I’d take that bad day anytime.
We agree!
Bob, Hate to tell ya , but trying to compare Kodiak, or Alaska fishing, environment, etc... to Oregon is hilarious! By the way, I was born in Oregon!😉😂😳
Not a bad way to spend an “off” day! Is kuiu you favorite gear? Why? Have you used others like Sitka, First Lite, or kryptek?
Thanks Derek. We do wear a lot of KUIU. They all make good stuff. Not a lot of experience with First Lite, but that's just because in Arizona, the catclaw makes a mess out of wool. We try not to get too caught up on brands. KUIU uses good materials, makes a lot of solid colors (we prefer solids to camo on all but archery hunts), makes good cuts, and the price is right for us.
Great film. The drone shots are perfect. What software are you using to produce and edit your raw footage?
Thank you. We use Final Cut Pro X for most of it. Some of the Adobe suite for graphics and manipulation when we need it.
Which stone glacier bags are you guys running and are you using the Krux or Xcurve frame? Thoughts on both?
Steve Shuba 6900 and 7200, both on the XCurve. We really like them and will talk about them in the next Quick & Dirty
Looking forward to it!
I’ll be honest, with fishing that good it’d be tough for me to go after goats!
The fishing was good, but on more than one occasion I wondered if we should have gone up the mountain instead. I was pretty anxious to hunt. Thanks for watching.
Nothing like killing two stones with one bird when you are salmon some slamming ...... ;-)
Where you fishing with barbed hooks
Probably, I never asked or noticed.
Great visuals in the video tonight. But....if you guys are going to be doing anymore fishing episodes you are going to have to work on your Johnny Johnson laugh when you're fighting a first...
“it’s a really big fish, folks, It’s a really big fish”
Hahaha
We always release the females
need some work on that music.
Got a playlist for us, Karen? Or just the complaint?
@@TheMountainProject I just went back to listen to your music again. it sounds even worse than I remembered. it sounds like someone who was so fucked up they could barely move but had gotten tangled up in some sort of musical instrument and were trying to get untangled.
Would you like to speak to the manager?
@@TheMountainProject I am sorry I hurt your feelings.
No hurt feelings, I just feel sorry for your husband.
