I've been to Indiana, and talked with a few Amish women. I even ate at an Amish restaurant, and the food was beyond excellent. They are really nice people. :D
You did a great job on the video! The Amish is a part of my history too! Many of my ancestors came from Switzerland to escape persecution of their religious beliefs. I am a 10th generation, direct descendant of Bishop Jacob Hertzler, first Amish Bishop in the US. Others were Bishop Jacob Mast, Johannes Kurtz and Johann Reichenbach. They all settled in PA. A great grandson of Johannes Kurtz migrated to OH and eventually to IA where my mom was born 5 generations later.
Hi Sassy Frassy. Jacob Mast was my ancestor. My grandfather grew up in Illinois and raised his family in northern Indiana. My father left the religion upon reaching adulthood.
The Amish and their ways of living have always appealed to me. I know the pressure from the outside modern world is heavy on them and wish them to hold out. They remind Christians that grace does not mean license. The strict rules they abide by don't save the soul for eternity. Christ is the only Savior and the sinner is saved by trusting and receiving Him and His redemptive work by faith. Then comes living according to what God has ordained in the Holy Writ. I wish the Amish people continue living as they have been doing up to now, but trust only Christ and His blood for their salvation!
Thank you very much for making a concise and interesting documentary. Great job! Only recently became interested in the Amish as a people. Searched for short videos and found this one. Best of all to the crew (aka the whole family)) who were working on this film.
Good afternoon to you all 😊 very well done young lady and nicely spoken thankyou.lve always had a fond friendly attitude towards the Amish people and respect to them.Thankyou for sharing....England UK 🇬🇧
I lived in an Amish community for over ten years and there is nothing wrong with these people, they are hard working, dedicated to their families, religion and culture. American's could learn something from them.
I totally agree with all the positive comments. This is a wonderful video, beautifully produced. This is also a great video to educate many who do not have knowledge about the Amish. I have always had great admiration for the Amish. They provide a wonderful testimony to LIVING their religious beliefs and applying them to every aspect of life.
sorry. I was commenting about one of the people who replied to this video. I like this video. very good info. this girl did a lot of research to get the history about the people. AND I also have Amish and Mennonite friends. Thank you.
I really admire the Amish, they know what they believe and they know what life they want to live, awesome! This is America, home of the free and the brave.
I went to Amish country in Pennsylvania. You are so right about the food. We, with our preservatives, have no idea what good is! I loved the family style dining, eating with and meeting new people.
Fathers mother came to America to Ohio in 1800's I too still have Amish and Mennonite in my family. Great video! I was raised that hard work never hurt anyone and its Gods work .
@gailbostock you really should. Lancaster is really nice, and it's close to hershey town, so you can go on some theme rides while you are there. I got a tour from some amish guy, and you really have to admire their hospitality. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
Girl, you almost convinced me! But if you wanna be Lancaster amish, you'll need to part your hair STRAIGHT down the middle, wear black stockings if you're not barefoot, and a slightly longer dress. Also, no bonnets while doing barn chores!! But hey, you sure handled that push broom like a pro! I enjoyed the video . 😁
Cant say I would like to live this life, but I totally respect their honesty in their beliefs and the pure way they seem to live their life, I have great respect for their values & determination to preserve their lifestyle. God bless them always.
This is actually another history topic that switzerland keeps quiet about it. At school in switzerland we were taught a lot about the catholic-protestant wars that were going on in those times. But no word about persecution of the Amish (and many others). I didn't know that they fled from this area until a friend who has been to the US told me that they actually speak a similar language to ours. Thank you for the video.
Very well done. I will use this with my ESL English 2nd Language class. We are studying American cultures. You speak clearly and are easy to understand. Thank you for posting this video.
Great Video! I admire the Amish very much, although I am not a Christian. I like the idea of living more simply. We have been raising our own chickens for a year now, and we canceled our cable television years ago. We also use cloth diapers!
@Valmarith : Now imagine yourself when the grocery store is empty, the gas stations are dry, no municipal water, gas or electricity. Who's gonna panic and eventually die? Off the grid and independent survive...history proves it.
electricity you can substitute with candles etc. but the tiled bathroom inside with running hot and cold water and a water closet. that is real difficult. especially in winter.
Wonderful video about beautiful people oh if the world would be like that today how peaceful it would be. I live in Menonite./ Armish country I go to the Menonite care and share store my whole house is decorated from there and I love it it is home. I do worry about the carriages on the roads as long as they have the reflectors it is ok not 100% safe traffic gets difficult at least I an see the carriages at night. Wonderful people and I have high respect for there religion.
In the "Meet the Amish, 1-4" YT video series, the Amish girl says that their moderately liberal group is allowed to play a harmonica. But then again, not sure if it is OK all the time because this documentary was during the special teen period before they choose Baptism membership or not. The video shows up in this side bar. VERY interesting. They bless my heart.
If the religion was taken out of the Amish lifestyle, I'd be there in a shot! I love the simplicity of their lives. We take for granted way too much in our complicated lives.
What thing is interesting USA has still some places where people live with no electricity. I know its your religion to live like that but I'm amazed to hear that in america. Nice video created
Which is good, meaning there are places where they can be free. There are not Amish in Europe as it is forbidden, can you believe that? You have to send your children to official schools only, pay taxes and have electricity, otherwise, you can go to jail. SAD! They are free, and the Bible says you better life like them at the END of times, as no one is saved unless they get out of the cities or normal way of living, why? Cause all of you have been deceived thinking just believing in Yahshua as your savior. His names says: YAH saves, only HIM, not Yahshua, his name is like all the other prophets names that have something to say to us. He is Son of a MAn as he always claimed, never was GOD. Amish are the closest to Muslims, May Allah save all of them!!!!
Video was done very well- there were parts in the opening that made me think it was professional. Like when you panned up the child sitting at the window.
@PhiloAmericana ... A man has to pray in the mosques all 5 daily prayers, a women doesn't have to she can pray at home, but if she wish to go she shouldn't be forbidden to do so. A women can divorce the man just as he can divorce her, in both cases she gets to keep the kids while he STILL continues to provide for them (except when she marries another man he takes his kids)... On and On there are more obligations on the man than the women!!...
@PhiloAmericana ...A man it is obligated upon him to provide the shelter, food, clothes, medicine, furniture for his family and whatever they need, ALL expenses are upon him and only him, the women is not required to pay a penny even if she's rich and he's poor, but if she wish to help it's as if she is giving charity, it is out of kindness of her. Therefor a man has to work hard to provide all this, a women doesn't have to but if she wish she can...
Lovely documentary. Well done. I grew up in Philadelphia and have always had a great fondess for the Amish and their culture. :)
I've been to Indiana, and talked with a few Amish women. I even ate at an Amish restaurant, and the food was beyond excellent. They are really nice people. :D

Would love to learn and experience the rich heritage of Amish life and culture. May God bless Amish habitats.

Impressive! You have a lot of talent!
Good presentation. Make more videos about Amish. They look so peaceful. Surely they'll have domestic challenges, but I mean on a larger scale.
I enjoy your videos very much

It is amazing how you explained everything ✨ ❤ 💖 Congratulations ♥ 💕 ...
What little I know of the Amish makes me respect them and their beliefs. I pray that I may be as strong in spirit as they seem to be.
Nice film, with all repect to the Amish, God bless them.

I used to go to brownstown elementary for kindergarten. By the way this was a very nice and detailed video about the amish.
spoken like a true, "I just lost that argument".
A breath of fresh air in this over mechanised world
Thanks a bunch.
Before watching this video, I always wondered what the difference between the Amish and Mennonites was, and now I know. This video was well made.
Very nicely done!
Thank you for sharing!

Excellent-well done! :)
Well done! A great effort, very interesting and informative. Ilike the ending :)
You did a good job
Very informative, well done! Do the Amish pay taxes, are they a part of American society with benefits and obligations?
@EWilsonLife well said I found the same, it becomes boring: The Amish are a wonderful people God bless them.
@123VivaDjazair I completely agree with you, we should just respect that they do not live the same way we do and not interfere with their beliefs
That was very nice! Thank you!

wonderfull life style , I`d love to visit the Amish People and perhaps stay a week `I`m a male in my 60s and live in the UK
very nice video young lady!
If the religion was taken out of the Amish lifestyle, I'd be there in a shot! I love the simplicity of their lives. We take for granted way too much in our complicated lives.
From a documentary I just saw recently, it was said that they do sing, dont dance, no instruments besides the harmonica.
What thing is interesting USA has still some places where people live with no electricity. I know its your religion to live like that but I'm amazed to hear that in america.

so stoned. cant believe i watched like 7 minutes of this before i changed it.
Nice job!!
Very interesting documentary - unfortunately some of the dialogue was hard to hear as the background music was too loud.
Millers was my fathers mothers last names.... Generations of our family still in Ohio. Love being with Amish when in Ohio 😇❤️
Hi Mikki Burdpck, My mother was also a Miller. They lived in northern Indiana, as do most of my Amish relatives.
