Just to be clear, the Amish don't all live like this. Electricity and plumbing aren't banned in every community. Their unifying belief is in a simple life without unnecessary advances. It is interesting to learn about their way of life and I appreciate that from what I can see, they live their lives without trying to push their beliefs on other people. I wish we could see the same respect for Native Americans, although we live on native land many people don't recognize that or even respect reservations.
Ben Troyer Jr , you’re absolutely correct. The Amish in my area range from just barely Amish, to very strict Amish. And they aren’t all farmers or woodworkers.
@@iskdude9922 My point is that they claim to shun the technology of the world, but then why are they cooking on a type of stove produced in the 1800s? I'd believe them a bit more if they cooked over an open fire.
There are lessons that can be learnt from these people if only to appreciate what you are lucky to have and also how to be self sufficient for food. Their work ethic is truly inspiring ..... however i dont agree with the gender seperation, i dont agree personally with the lack of things like clean water, medical care, but that is for my personal situation, if it makes them happy then great i am happy for them and in truth they have a much healthier lifestyle. I am planning a farm which is both modern for utilities and yet is very similar to amish lifestyle. It is a shame the amish arent more open to teaching others traditional skills.

Right. No stress of ensuring you're walking in lock-step with what the bishop and elders say, knowing the rest of community will turn you in for any violation.
I have a girl and a young boy. We have lived this rat race in America. If we wanted to move into an Amish community, who can I talk to. Neither of us are opposed to working hard. We would just need a place to sleep after a long hard day.
Sure, you can be Amish! First you have to learn to speak/read German, "Pennsylvania Dutch" which is a common language of German, Dutch, and English., because the holy bible you'll be reading every day is in German. Then you spend a year or two in a "proven" lifestyle. Proving to the church elders that you are serious about being Amish; completely living the Amish way. You will do, wear, pray, work, live everything Armish. Then you may be accepted and allowed to be baptized. Only then can you pick your new slave wife and marry, after you're baptized. Easier to get a microwave and a dishwasher. Oh Ya no electricity, cars, TV, cellphones, power tools, etc. and you get up at 4:30-5:00 am. Work your farm/job six days a week until 7pm. The horses you'll need for your buggy? They have few indiscretions at to where they'll sh!t, so get yourself a shovel before you move in, lol....
Bilb Ono converting English to Amish is very challenging but doable they like to keep everything in the community or surrounding community each one has there own set of rules some stricter than others... They speak English and pennsilvania Dutch you would have to learn the language and culture and it isn t as simple as you see in videos... when you convert to Amish or Mennonite you are giving up everything you know and love from the outside world.... Also if you decide to leave the Amish you are shunned and your family cannot talk to you unless the church says other wise.... I just watched a Biograhy on the Amish.... it was very interesting.
You can convert. Look into it...it's not easy...but frequently a family Will take you in for as long as it takes for you to meet the requirements. I have looked into it.
One thing I want to add that i am not a perfect religious guy but it can't be just a coincidence that all other holy books actually explain exactly this kind of life. Technology is killing our nature.
I love this video! You did a great job. That's where I come from so I kinda know how it is. Its obviously different from community to community. Keep up the good work!
Too bad you religious wingnuts forget--or CONVENIENTLY put the bad RESULTS of Amish doctrine (like the old saying--"out of sight, out of mind). They have a horrendous problem of inter-breeding causing REAL birth defects, including mental retardation! And it won't get any better since no new conscripts are joining this outdated religious order!
@Arnulfo Laniba Well, you can hide from the truth, but that doesn't help the horses. The Amish in general use the old cowboy way of breaking their horses. They use pain, fear, and intimidation. Then they overwork them. The horse is just a tool to them.
@Arnulfo Laniba Of course the old cowboy way of treating a horse is abuse. The other way of working with the horse is developing mutual trust and respect. Then the horse wants to do as you ask, willingly.
Laura Starling are you talking about the one in the buggy? If you see the horse is slowing the buggy down which means he has to push back to slow it down and then he turns to the left because he is turning! I can guarantee you that you have an Amish man would be working a lame horse in 99% of Amish communities he would disowned by the Amish church
Oil lamps are actully very bright, ess when you have 2 - 3 in the same room.U have to light them a certin ay, clip the whick every time before it is lit and to clean the chimney (the glass pice) of soot. once u do all that which is not much, they light very well. the downside is that they smell and in the summer in a non air conditioned room they make it hotter.
I think that the Amish people live absolutely correctly, as God intended us to live. They farm, they are wonderful craftspeople, they are self-sufficient, they read the Bible and they live according to God's word. We have to remember that this life is very short, and after comes the Judgment.

Lady Rain well your in luck , because you can! :)
Unless you are raised in this culture it would be exceeding hard to try and fit into it. The modern conveniences you would have to give up would break you in a very short time. How many evenings can you spend just sitting on the porch listening to crickets when you have no tv or radio or ifone or computer...
This is Billy.Their lifestyle actually closer to biblical pioneer style living. It's culture isn't for everyone. It's purist, strict & very heartwarming. So close to early settler days with it's own language dress & hand made quality wholesome manner driven moral ethical life that shows respect to the environment that spawned it.
Such a simple life I really admire these people. I wish I could live like that everything is so fast in the world today. Be nice to unplug for awhile.
Such a peaceful life. I don't think I've ever seen any of them suffer from stress, strokes, or diabetes.
the best life we could ever live! honest, true with love

I love that life simple, basic, quiet no other way
I hope to have a person like this good Amish man one day!

The quality of craftsmanship with this furniture is unreal!
So he has a Diesel engine but won’t use electricity? 🤔
Diesel is something you take from The Earth. Electricity is something the human being made and it makes things easier to get but they value the effort they puto into things and how they cost to get them.
Diesel doesn’t use electricity/spark plugs
@Anglus Patria Diesel is not natural. It is modify for its use. Also when you burn it, you contaminate the air with smokes and dirt. So yes, all these things are bad.
Váš nábytek je krásný,přeji mnoho štěstí!
We got alot of Amish and even Mennonite in Wa state in my town Ellensburg even two whole highways named after their families
I feel bad for the gay Amish. They still have to marry whomever they are told.
I wish to live like you guys. Please invite me over if you have a spare room.
If you really want to...it is possible (but not easy) to convert.

I'm learning about the Amish for my school and let me tell you the amish live so much different from how I live or how people live in my society. I swear I'd die living like this...
the house in the video could be the tour guides house.
The go on the paved highway though😂
I am at a loss at to how different a diesel engine from electricity.
Its independent?
good video, I was born in Indiana near Amish community but we moved to Louisiana when I was young I'm in Texas now , enjoying the video, I quilt and can and cook from scratch so I appreciate all the talents they work so hard on , they work hard, and treat others kind, ,will watch the videos if you wanna see my channel its new I have a few canning videos up and soon as weather cools a bit I will be adding more canning videos, beautiful wood work, I subscribed
When you realize that real happiness is coming from within you will stop chasing it outside and ended up like a dog chasing it's tail.
In the end you don't need drugs or alcohol to make you happy, and you're living stress free life...
I like this guy. Check out the way he jumps up on the truck towards the end. He's good at what he does, and he likes doing it. He doesn't think about anything else. I want to be like him.
GREAT VIDEO!! 👍👍🌲LOVE FROM GERMANY🌲🌲🌲😘angie
i used to go in their markets and by homemade bread, pies and fresh milk. right next door on the same property they had a mill that processed log cabin kits, pretty much all hand made.
I really don't understand you folks that always question the promise Amish people. There's certainly nothing wrong with there lifestyle I just wish that people would leave them along and stop downing them and also passing judgement if we had more folks like them the world would be a much better happy and sample life then there wouldn't be all this wickness in high place you folks know they don't believe in cameras then yous really shouldn't tougher and put them in the precision God love you folks I know yous probably mean well but place stop and just leave there's loving people alone. I'm not Amish myself but I love them they are my brother and sister in Christ I know it's there choice to be entervived but please don't condemn them and make light of them there beauful people's and I've learned a lot from them and there standards and they mean a lot to me just love and respect them place thanks God richly bless and keep in his care. P.s. I'm not trying to be rude or mean but it vouchers me greatly when people's goes against the Amish keep them off camera and respect there believe and faith in God. God love all you Amish people's I love yous very much and I thank the Lord folks like yous. I do hope someone well reply to me long commute here. Just leave them alone and respect and love them as your fellow man love our neighbour as our selves they are my neighbour. I admirer all you Amish people's and above all keep the faith in Jesus Christ. May God richly bless and keep yous all in his care. You lady's are very very modest and I certainly love and admirer all that.
It is interesting to learn about their way of life and I appreciate that from what I can see, they live their lives without trying to push their beliefs on other people. I wish we could see the same respect for Native Americans, although we live on native land many people don't recognize that or even respect reservations.
Very true
I would be very careful how much I say all the Amish do this or that. there are quite a few different types of Amish in America.
Ben Troyer Jr , you’re absolutely correct. The Amish in my area range from just barely Amish, to very strict Amish. And they aren’t all farmers or woodworkers.
Great video, thank you. May the Amish always keep their God and their traditions.
But I thought there one God honestly then more or there .
how come they have a windmill, that's technonogy . . . .
It's interesting where they choose to draw the line. One could easily argue that their fancy woodburning stove is the result of technology as well.
@@Blippity_Bloop64 nothing wrong with technology. Good shtf skills but they got no guns. At least i dont think...
@@iskdude9922 My point is that they claim to shun the technology of the world, but then why are they cooking on a type of stove produced in the 1800s? I'd believe them a bit more if they cooked over an open fire.
Bigfatmouth i think the point is not to indulge in excessive luxury which technology brings. It also brings dependency.
I would love visit a Amish family
Sometimes I wish I was born Amish. Very simple and godly life. They intrigue me.
Despite not want be part of modern life - this is a very PR Version of what they want the world to believe is the Amish world.

There is alot of worng things from our perspective - close related marriages > sick kids with many disfunctions, parents wont take them to modern doctor because... Modern... So they dying in pain or thier lives is really hard, because thier medicine is really poor.

Right. No stress of ensuring you're walking in lock-step with what the bishop and elders say, knowing the rest of community will turn you in for any violation.

Yeah, but most of the Amish communities are not in Maine. It gets pretty hot where I live (yes...we have a large enclave of Amish here)

The horse buggies are so darling.
This is such an amazing lifestyle
My mother is from Holmes county Ohio. And has been in Wayne County for 6 years now.
I have a girl and a young boy. We have lived this rat race in America. If we wanted to move into an Amish community, who can I talk to. Neither of us are opposed to working hard. We would just need a place to sleep after a long hard day.

can you "convert" to being amish?
if i had a woman to do all that at home, id craft the hell out of some wood too.

Not dissing on there lifestyle at all it's just the old way it works for them and they are happy and that's what matters 😊
I love amish..i want live with them..❤
I respect the amish! We are hoping to buy a Amish's house soon and hopefully live a little simpler lifestyle. 😊Praying to God it all workout.
I would love to live a life like this
Till you actually tried it...

I love this video! You did a great job. That's where I come from so I kinda know how it is. Its obviously different from community to community. Keep up the good work!

Turkeydoodlers L. Naive
@Arnulfo Laniba I see the behavior. You must be blinded to the truth.
More people need to see this and restore the balance of life. I love their satisfaction in simplicity.
3:50 Of course.. Coronavirus.
I’m watching this in 2020 it’s a real shit show!!! This life looks more and more inviting!
That horse is severely struggling due to its lameness. Pisses me off that they never give their horses time to heal.
Laura Starling I know when I was Amish we sure gave our horses time to heal not sure where you're getting your information
Laura Starling where I was born and raised in the church would excommunicate you if you did not treat your horse right
Joseph Yoder I'm getting my information from watching the horse move. Head is bobbing and leg is pulling. Clear sign of lameness.
Laura Starling there buggy horses are standardbreds
Oil lamps are actully very bright, ess when you have 2 - 3 in the same room.U have to light them a certin ay, clip the whick every time before it is lit and to clean the chimney (the glass pice) of soot. once u do all that which is not much, they light very well. the downside is that they smell and in the summer in a non air conditioned room they make it hotter.
They need to allow using underarm deodoranton themselves! I was near a group of them at an airport, and man did they stink!
Blech! That's just nasty. No excuse. Soap and water are cheap. Use them! You don't need deodorant if you wash daily, wear clean clothes daily.
Not true at all. By noontime you can have bad armpit odor. Men especially but women too need deodorant.
I think that the Amish people live absolutely correctly, as God intended us to live. They farm, they are wonderful craftspeople, they are self-sufficient, they read the Bible and they live according to God's word. We have to remember that this life is very short, and after comes the Judgment.
Well they are not what they seem like honestly and secondly there read a bible but its different with rules.
No it does not honestly.
I would probably go insane living that lifestyle.
I agree, but, if that's all you knew and were born into it, it's just a way of life to them
Frightened Female not if you were born into Amish life.
If you are living in that American jungle, you maybe already insane.
Frightened Female tbh I wouldn't mind living that kind of lifestyle I mean I don't necessarily need technology, all I need to live is a little house in the country where I can hunt and fish and love life everyday
thats what you think but once you get used to it you will love your life
