We all tried to get our hair like that in the early seventies and again early eighties but can't say we pulled it off, unlike the amazing Paul Weller. Marvellous times. ❤🎵
Great video with Paul and Mick gracefully bowing out and leaving the teen scene to the next generation and coming to terms with the fact that there is no going back
Great times were the late 70's to the mid 90's, 20 years of the best music ever, no internet, social media or mobile phones, you left the house and that was it, great days.

Fantastic video. Nostalgia for the 60's, when it was released in the 80's. Now it's nostalgic for the 80's looking back through the prism of the 60's. Weird. Like looking at two mirrors at a certain angle, that produces infinite images. Some great cars there. Adored the Renault 5 before the facelift made it too poncey. The big Peugeot estate. Is it a 608 or 806? Say what you like about Weller (looking at you Paolo Hewitt) but, Weller does know how to give Good Face to his punters. Looking sharp - same goes for Mick Talbot. So good to see the two of them looking fresh and like they are having a good laugh.
@@grahamcheesman2252 TSC WERE AMAZING!! I am a huge fan of the Jam , I saw them 4 times . I just love every single song they ever did. PW can do no wrong in my eyes 🥰
@@modmutha8608 I agree he is amazing but for me The Jam could do no wrong, also it really does my head in when he drops the scooter. I'm looking to get one and regret not keeping mine from teenager
Weller's written some magnificent songs, and this is certainly one of em. Just magic. And the video is wonderful too. Weller - King of England? Yes, yes yes!
the style council already have a box set out The Complete Adventures of The Style Council is a box set by The Style Council, released in 1998, nine years after their split. It contains most of their material in chronological order, including their previously unreleased final studio album Modernism: A New Decade from 1989 on the fifth disc. It was released after the success of Paul Weller's previous band The Jam's similar 1997 box set ...
At least 38 years old (The Jam) and the message seems to be more up-to-date than ever: "I'm fuelled by the idea that this world was made to share. But it never seems to work out and all we seem to share is doubt and misery. I just want to build up a solid bond in your heart heart."
I was given the prop vinyl from the video by the Aurora DJ around '84/'85. It doesn't play SBIYH but an old soul song. My mate gave me his gatefold sleeve to keep it in.
Living in Canada, we can't watch this video. We don't have access so every time I am vacationing in Europe, I take the opportunity to watch this video. love the revived Motown groove playing out in the 80s.
This track should have been the last jam record as they used to play it. But I'm glad it came out via the council,a top sound with a northern soul feel.
I wish I'd been able to see their music videos back when I was a kid. If you were lucky you might've seen it come on tv, but it would only be once, and that would be it. Now with TH-cam you can see all the videos you never got to see, and you can watch them as much as you like. It's great, but it makes me sad I missed out on it as a kid.
"Takes yer back dunnit, Mick?". It certainly takes ME back! RIEP my gorgeous little man, Sammy. You were originally from England and I really hoped that you and I would go there together (to where you were born) one day. But sadly, you passed away Dec 2021 at the age of 30 in our home, and I will be forever heartbroken. I'm so sad that we won't get to spend many more years together. I Love You (143). Never, ever forgotten. Go Spurs! Watch 'em up in Heaven with my Dad, Sam. Life is short and you never know what's going to happen folks. "Never go to bed angry with each other and never leave things on a bad note". That's what my Twin Flame/Soulmate taught me. Wise beyond his years! Tell those you care about that you love them very much - every chance you get. Take care, stay well people 💜🦋🙏🥰
Wonder what happened to the Ford at the start. It's still on the DVLA records but recorded as last taxed in 1985 -- presume it was used for filming and then not used again. Looks in good nick too!
This was down as the Jams final single, until they pulled the plug at the last minute, and released the beat surrender. There is a demo version of the jam version of this song on TH-cam, but they never finished recording the demo.
Have never been able to work out why it is but this video does nothing to lessen my belief that there is something of the Terry Thomas' about Mick Talbot, and yes, I know; he doesn't even look like him!

Although, it does make me laugh that Paul and Mick are only around 25 years old in this video, but acting as if they're a pair of old timers.

No internet, but we're all on the internet watching this being reminded of great memories, cheap suits, skinny ties and dodgy hairdoos
Paul Weller such a talented songwriter brilliant.
Love the irony of saying it was great with no internet on the internet!

LYRICS
Feel is a word I can't explain
At least not in words that are plain
Make it easy to express
But I'll try to do my best
To hit you where it counts
I just want to build up
A solid bond in your heart
(Yeah) A solid bond in your heart (Aha)
I'm fuelled by the idea
That this world was made to share
But it never seems to work out
And all we seem to share
Is doubt and misery
I just want to build up
A solid bond in your heart heart
When you feel in your soul
And your heart begins to blow
Keep it in mind to
Keep on trying
It's like a feeling deep inside
Please don't ever try to hide
That solid bond in your heart
(Yeah) A solid bond in your heart (Aha)
Aah, I just want to build up
A solid bond in your heart heart
It's what's missing from this life
And the trust you need to ignite
Any dream worth holding dear
When that dream is so near
You gotta try and try to get it back
Push it to the limit and build
A solid bond in your heart
You beauty
Ive just sang it again 👍👍

Love this record but can't believe the way Weller casually drops the lambretta scooter at 0.26 - careless sod, a TV175 S2 as well! ;-)
