The voice-over feels so personal, I love it. And the bar-in-a-toolbox is such a great present. Laura, you won't get your 10% because I cannot imagine Harry giving this away 😉

I loved it. Every once in a while Jimmy Diresta puts out a voiceover vid and I learn so much from them, same here. Maybe weave them in here and there?

Not pushing for it either way, but Jimmy Diresta records voiceovers for a lot of his videos and posts them to patreon.

Came here to say the same thing, the voiceover tone and content reminded me of the best Jimmy videos, discussing the thought and design process, not measurements etc. love your work Laura! Cheers from Australia

Another comment to say that the voiceovers are my favorites that Jimmy does, and I hope you get enough positive comments to do more of these too. As a maker of a different type (fabric), I really love hearing these kinds of thoughts on process from other makers.

For the past few years, I have had my 3D Design students do an art history project where they must create an artwork in the style of/with a similar mindset as an artist. Each year, I have used you as one of the artists that students could choose from. I have always had some difficulty explaining your making philosophy in a way that a non-maker could understand. I think your voiceover in this video captures your thoughts and considerations perfectly. This will be the first thing I have future students look at when they have you as their chosen artist. Danke schön.

Laura, That was delightful. What a wonderful gift. I loved your creative horseplay, very inspiring. As far as voice over, it was nice, but I love the no voice over videos also - maybe a mix of voice and no voice would be worth exploring- but my favorite thing about you channel is that it feels like you are doing you! The most important thing by far.

The voiceover makes a nice alternative format, and I'm betting it makes you more consciously examine your process. But what I really love about this video is the way you went about making this gift both personal to the person receiving it, but also unique to your style. Truly the best kind of gift that will never be forgotten.

Fantastic. The voice-over takes the viewer into your creative process in a more intimate way and it foregrounds the journey from concept to finished product more. You've done a great job explaining each step of the build and I like how you explore problems you run into along the way. I learn so much from your mistakes as well as your successes. Yes! Hearing the ideas behind the creation folds in so much personal connection, so we, as viewers, understand more. In this case, more about the process, as well as the thing itself. And as a gift, you share so much more about you, your community, and your ideals.

Absolutely love the voice over Laura. As a designer maker myself, seeing the why not necessarily just the how is super important. It feels really good to hear that you don't necessarily always have the "vision" and that the materials are the focal point and the design happens over time with continuity of choice and respect for the objects themselves. As a repairer-repurposer of broken-down objects and materials, I was profoundly moved by your explanation of why you fixed that riverside bench the second time. I think a lot about what you said: ''Imagine a world where things are repaired one more time than they are broken."

This. Is one of my favorite projects. Right there with your soldering station. Great use of found objects. Beautiful form and function. Oh…and whisky.

Love the voice over! But also your "normal" videos. Your enthusiasm gets me every time

Now every Jack and coke drinker in the USA is going to want one of these. So perfectly done for your friend.

That is adorable! The toolbox bar, the work, the voice over. I love to see you work and your creations. And junk, of course! Thank you for sharing ,♥️🌹

The voiceover is great! Please keep sharing your thoughts about the design process, it's so nice to hear more about where you're coming from and why you're making all of the smaller decisions too.

I loved hearing your design process. I’m the same as you- I love working with what materials are available to me (art-wise or a quick DIY). Getting lost in the process is the best part. Thank you for sharing your journey🌞
