When I saw the boxes, I jumped immediately. They looked so familiar to boxes I've worked with for aircraft parts and mobile workstations. I honestly guessed that you'd spent 3 or 4 times that money for them. What a steal... I'm so envious. Those glidetrack drawers alone...

Right? These are custom Mil-Spec/Spec-Ops built…at LEAST a few hundred Euros per case. The custom foam cutouts are worth what they paid for the case. Hugely expensive to build, affordable to acquire as surplus and re-configure. Jelly.

Im a little surprised they left the lables, that just means they have enen cooler stuff now. Still it really gives you the ability to reverse engineer how a spy may opperate, mission wise. Can you put a magnet up to them? Im so curious how much is steel, if at all. Since these are powered, that changes everything cost wise from a safety point of view for something going in cargo, because now there are fire risks. The best part of being in the spy camp is. not too many people know your budget.... When I first saw the cases before you said what they were it reminded me of how the tool kits for fast response mechanics/engineers that can be sent to any country and swap a skin panel in a couple days. These guys are the best of the best, millions per day for their services. I also am super Jelly, but I can't think of a more deserving person to have snatched them up. I mean a pelican case is several hundred euro.

I'm a stage hand and have seen plenty of very fancy custom flightcases for all sorts of uses--but never anything like these. Those vertical drawer things blew my mind! And no kidding, this is serious spy movie stuff! so cool.
I love the mini E-chains within the boxes and attached to the drawers. That is truly a next-level cable handling solution. What an incredible purchase! 😄👍

Amazing find! I'm more used to the green rotomolded versions of those cases for field work. The aluminum ones were more common for temporary aircraft use. The gear on the DIN rails is worth more than you paid for each box. You and yours should definitely have a martini - shaken not stirred - tonight.
I'm impressed you knew what they were originally built for. I recognized what they were immediately as we use the same style in the US. However when we remove things from service we remove all traces of identification, even manufacturer. Super awesome score, can't wait to see what you do with them.
i work in an industrial setting, logistics warehouse. sometimes i find parts on the floor that fall off of our equipment - when this happens i go to our maintenance shop and say "i don't know what this is; it looks well made so it's probably important". my opinion, that covers the description of those cases at 03:00 in to video.

I have a couple of all aluminium flight cases for my photographic equipment, scored on ebay for very cheap, I bought some 'pluck foam' to customise them, If you want to move stuff around they are the best solution... By far! Great find... Jealousy level 11.5

100EUR each is an *insanely* good price. I've seen some very similar for transportable/deployable rackmounted servers, and those were in the thousands of euro each.
WOW! Saying you hit the jackpot is the understatement of the decade. These cases had to cost at LEAST $1500 each to build without the power supplies and breakers. Even if you can only repurpose half of them you still will be doing fantastic. 😀
It's clearly labelled as "coffee supply". And yes, the whole stuff is made for a mobile observation outpost, my guess it's from the german CIA-equivalent, "Bundesnachrichtendienst". Finding those in the civilian market only can mean they have even better stuff now :)

Maybe some of them would make to your mobile projects? They were made for it, the fridge can complete the mobile bar made from camper trailer (unless you sold it already). By the looks of it, with the quality, 100€ per piece might be a bargain 👍

Never ever ever never ever get rid of those boxes. not only are they really well made but they have the coolest story. these need to be family heirlooms. if the tables mention their former use be cool to find a way to keep them so in the future they won't wear off. When making something with a friend tell them to look for a drill in the night vision drawer. that would be so fun

The one that is a refrigerator would STAY a refrigerator in any shop I had. Otherwise, that is a great find for tool and equipment storage! I am so envious.
This is awesome! Stuff like this pops up occasionally on the "used" market. We have a 65" tv in out local hacks pace that was used in the Rammstein Air Force base. The inventory number sticker is on the back still. We got it basically for free 😅

I've seen semi-similar systems for a mobile laboratory. I would not be surprised if each one of these cases originally cost $5-10K. The only thing you are missing is the transport over-cases. It's like a giant water proof Pelican case with roller door that a stack of these roll into for air transport, forklifting around and strapping onto trucks etc.

Awesome buy! Wire up a sub panel in your shop to provide power to this kit you have acquired. Figure out now how to integrate multiple filtration systems. All the equipment has been removed, but those items each had a power source. The dust in your shop will destroy this treasure you have found. You can have multiple air filtration units inside each crate. You can roll the crates around in stacks like you showed. Plug the stack into power provided by you new sub panel. Awesome. I'm so excited for you!

Bwahaha that foam cutout for a coffee spoon must be the most German thing I've ever seen. If I was tasked with making something to confirm every clichee about this country ever, I couldn't do better than that. Absolutely amazing.
The seller basically gave them to you for 100 euros each. Those are aerospace grade cases. Not even NASA did custom cases for many applications. ZERO cases were lightly modified as cases for module use. I was in military logistics in a different life and it's amazing what gets put out to be deemed obsolete and sent to disposal or surplus, from every branch of most NATO countries. Scanning electron microscopes is one that makes me chuckle every time I see them pop up.
Would be interesting to know what these boxes had seen in their former life 😀 And what they paid for them when they were bought for the first time..........

Realizing they are even fully equipped with electric appliances, I'd rather estimated about 1k € for each! Lucky you, Laura! 👍🍀
I made a flippant guess of "a couple of grand" thinking they were just nice sturdy boxes, maybe with the kind of high quality drawers you see on the big workshop tool racks that you mention later on. Then I started second guessing that as you went through what was in them, because *wow* those are superb cases. But hey..I was right! For all the wrong reasons. I barely even have a workshop and I want a stack of those.
a bit big for my workshop. but fully modular, with a dolly and integrated power supplies? military grade? for money that isnt even the middle range of working cases, where you still get plastic hinges and cheap abs slides, it's an absolute steal. looking forward for the build(s) because most of my tools travel with me.

they are called drag chains and are standard for machinery with a lot sliding parts like cnc machines and what have you, even cheap 3d printers

100 pro Kiste??? Wow… in der Ausstattung und Qualität müssen die ursprünglich weit über 1000-2000 je nach Ausstattung gekostet haben. Alleine die Schaltelektronik und die elektrifizierten Schubladen sind wahrscheinlich neu nicht unter 600 pro Kiste zu kriegen 🤔

Not only are those cool cases that have been pre wired to do... well,..... ANYTHING!! But they are also cheap beyond cheap!!! That is an absolute steal!!!

After revealing their true purpose, I expected a used price of "a couple of hundred Euros". Realizing they are even fully equipped with electric appliances, I'd rather estimated about 1k € for each!

I made a flippant guess of "a couple of grand" thinking they were just nice sturdy boxes, maybe with the kind of high quality drawers you see on the big workshop tool racks that you mention later on.
Then I started second guessing that as you went through what was in them, because *wow* those are superb cases. But hey..I was right! For all the wrong reasons.
I barely even have a workshop and I want a stack of those.
Those are crazy awesome. You can be super portable with all the power functions.
a bit big for my workshop. but fully modular, with a dolly and integrated power supplies? military grade?
for money that isnt even the middle range of working cases, where you still get plastic hinges and cheap abs slides, it's an absolute steal.
looking forward for the build(s) because most of my tools travel with me.
