I laughed so much at the part where Felix recorded Laura going back and forth to the shop to get the proper piece/tool she needed to hang the tool box. 😂😂. But more than that I LOVE that it LOOKS like a piece of furniture. BEAUTIFUL!!!
the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
I'm 68 years old and most of my stuff is in the basement of the house. My knees aren't the best and this is inspiring me to make a "mini' toolbox for the main floor of the house so I don't have to go up and down the stairs. Thank you!
Next comes a little platform lift so you can bring tools up from the basement without having to carry them up the stairs. Before you know it you will make a robot to load the tools onto the lift for you so you'll never have to go downstairs again! 🙂
@@cggnow That sounds like a wonderful idea but I think it would take me quite a long time to scrounge parts. I’ll file that idea away, though, because the lift makes a lot of sense. And once an idea comes to fruition, it sparks so many more.
You just put down the “Let Glue Dry” sign. I’ve been working on a few small projects recently, and the words “Let Glue Dry” keep running through my head on a loop. Interestingly, thinking/saying those words reduce the anxiousness I get in wanting to finish the project. It’s a very soothing mantra to mindfully focus on. Thank you, Laura. Something very important I learned from you!😊
I love watching you, I am from Canada, and the first thing I do every Sunday, is to check and make sure there is a Laura Kampf video. I am a senior lady, with no building background, and I find myself cheering you on and am in awe of your creativity!
This is the best thing I've seen in ages. "A shrine" to her passion. SO great. Also, the silent, knowing look she gives Felix while hunting for things to put in it, when she finds something perfect.
That might be best 24 minutes on YT for me last month. So relaxing. It's comfort food, but video. Just chillin' with Laura, creating something awesome. THE BEST.
I think Laura is my favorite creator at the moment. Her energy is so awesome and she's so creative with her work. I also love how she keeps having cool ideas and doesn't give up if/when things don't work out how she originally thought they would. Love this woman ❤
The Tiny Tool Cabinet is a very satisfying object to look at. While closed it's so clean and minimal - it could be anything! - and opened up it's a perfect tiny portal to the Kampf workshop, complete with weird, wonderful lighting. I love it! I know every time you walk by it you're going to open it up and just stare at it smiling for a few minutes even when you don't need anything :-)
1. it's amazing that you can just go shopping in your own shop and find all this great stuff. 2. good to know that this glue will not stick to "Siebdruckplatte". 3. nicest shot: Siebdruckplatte + Linolium Edge Sanding 4. maybe add a pink tape dispenser into the cabinet?
I was so confused when you screwed the front piece on the drawer - wait, she wanted doors but now she's made a closed box?! I would never have guessed that you would saw through the whole thing like that. Very cool!
Great story, it's not just about accumulating the cool junk, but figuring out the perfect junk for each project! Great combination of materials for the toolbox, it looks great, and the lights make it extra special.
This is the most Laura Kampf tool cabinet I've ever seen. 😁 You should always make things for yourself that make you happy. Looks great in the tiny house! Thanks for sharing!
I love it, and I can't fault you at all for your priorities. It's not a tiny house, it's a tiny home. The tool cabinet helps make it feel like home to you, so it's the right thing to do now.
"Probably nobody wants this. But I want it. So I built it. And I love it." That is profound and wonderful, I feel a great kinship with this sentiment, once again thank you.
Such a cool project. I especially vibe with the conclusion. "No one would want this, but I want it, so I build it." So true. Also a bit disappointed not having the part on camera where Laura realizes that the light switch is wired up the wrong way (lights should be off when pressed, as seen at the end) :D
Yeah, those are sometimes my favourite parts, where Laura realises she made a mistake and just laughs at herself. Adam Savage does the same thing over on Tested all the time, It's just kind of nice to see that even the best makers fall foul of the little mistakes we all make.
Did I want to watch you make a tool box instead of new furniture? No! Did I love this video of making this fancy toolbox that everyone absolutely needs in their home? Yes! I smiled so much watching this.
I realized today what it is that I love about your builds and your channel: You're not just focused on the function and utility of what you build, but also the aesthetics and form of it, and that really appeals to me as a maker caught between those two worlds. Wonderful tool cabinet, can't wait to see what else you make for your tiny house!
Love the videos, Shout out to Felix, the two of you make such a great creative team and your interplay adds such a great level of character to your videos. I love his excitement and energy not to mention his videography. The quick shots of Smudo doing his thing and the shy smiles of Janine. Really bring the whole crew closer to the viewers. Luv you all and thank you for all the joy you have provided through the years.
You look very relaxed and confident, this is something you enjoyed building and it's showing on camera. You're in the zone! The editing is as well very top notch on this video, great stuff!
We each have our priorities, and I can absolutely see why one would need tools at hand--especially in the middle of the night in winter. (which is why I wonder where the toilet is going to go--talk about really not wanting to go outside in the cold in the middle of the night!)
Your Tiny House is getting more beautiful and "yours" with every piece you finish. You will end up not wanna move out even in your big house is ready 😊 Wonderful cabinet!
It is not weird that you made the tool cabinet first! It is such a Laura move would have expected nothing less! turned out so well, the lights are so fun
That was SO neat. :D I love your aesthetic, and I love that you reuse and recycle and have just...so much random *stuff* - all these neat bits and bobs that would make a magpie swoon. Because you know all of it could be put to use. Excellent! :D
I identify so much with that small moment when you are fixing the bottom part of the door that came loose. That split second before shooting the nail in of "maybe I should scoot my hand back a little". It's something that resonates with every maker who's ever had a nail make a right turn inside a piece or wood and come out inside their finger.
Since you're running power for the lights you should see if you can also incorporate a charger for the drill. Loved this video I didn't know I wanted a tool cabinet until I watched this. Absolutely brilliant 😁
"A shrine for tools"... Great idea!.. very handy for so many of us who worship such things! Selecting the container first rather than the tools is certainly backward, from the perspective of functional use. But hey, spiritual comfort is equally important in a home!
Laura you are such an ispiration!!❤ You can do it all and ever when everything goes wrong you just keep on going! The strongest and the most inspiring person here on this platform if you as me 🥰💪👌
whoever mixes your audio i love you what an absolute auditory delight that nothing is too loud, every cut is on beat and the bg music is even in key with the tool sounds oh my god
Oh Laura, the feeling I got when you opened the tiny tool cabinet at the end…😍😍😍 🎉💃Nobody would want this? It is now my mission to build this for my house! Oh and the sound you make when something works, fits and is perfect, that feeling is why I build!
So Cool, I want a tool cabinet!! Also I am convinced that this is what every hoarder imagines themselves to be doing with all the things..*that might come in handy (speaking for a friend of course..)
Never will I throw away a drawer again. Ever. Offtopic: you are such a nice person! Will you do a meet and greet sometime with your viewers? Anyway, never change ♥️
What you've done with the limited space is truly inspirational for me! I look around my place and there's so much stuff everywhere. At some point one must simply stop procrastinating and do the work. So, Off to work! Thanks again for sharing your journey.
I think I enjoyed this video more then most people. I have OCD and the organization is very appealing to me. And the fact that it looks like furniture is wonderful. Thanks Laura
Hi. 2 things I've learnt over the years while putting shelves and cupboards on walls. First, hang them with nothing in or on them, which makes it so much lighter. Second, put the left hand screw in to take the weight of the unit. With your left hand, raise the unit until it is level (carefully not to scratch wall). Put in right-hand screw. Tighten. Anyway, that's how I do it.😊
2.25 mins into video and....WHY have I not seen this girl before!!....don't know how I found this channel today but am so mad I've not found it before! Am now subbed and then going back to find as many videos as I can. LOVE it!.
Whenever I do a glue up on a project, without fail since finding your channel, I always say "let glue dry" before leaving the room. You are my biggest inspiration.
In my office/gaming room, I have one of those tool cabinets that you'd find in a garage or mechanic shop. Part of the cabinet holds my computer building tools. I don't care if it's "out of place". It makes me happy, so I understand why you wanted to build one for your tiny house.
You must have changed the „direction“ of the switch mid building? I was confused when you pushed the switch and the light went on. Very nice work. I got some great ideas out of the video.
Very cool tool cabinet! Maybe a tip: You could build a stairs + small deck and put it in front of the door of the tiny house. Maybe also an awning, so you have a small dry spot at the front door.
Oh I want it so much! I live on a narrowboat (so effectively a floating tiny house) and it would be a great way to store my tools. I’d love to buy this tools included if I could. Maybe there are plastic versions but I don’t want that.
Err. You’re not alone. I would want that too! It’s stunning. And makes perfect sense that you’d do that first as everything in it will help with the rest! 🙌 Great job! 👏👏👏
I really like your upcycling projects. 😊 I would love a project build with minimal tools needed, so it can be made without a Workshop you have at hand.
My favorite part: No one would want this, but I want it, so I build it. Words to live by, my Brilliant friend... words to live by.
I want one also!!
I want one too 😊
You & Felix are so fun together!
I definitely want one. I must make this.
I laughed so much at the part where Felix recorded Laura going back and forth to the shop to get the proper piece/tool she needed to hang the tool box. 😂😂. But more than that I LOVE that it LOOKS like a piece of furniture. BEAUTIFUL!!!

I bought a Husky 3 drawer toolbox, it does the job and it lives in the spare bedroom.
Also useful if tools are outdoors in a shed or garage, and you don't want to dress for outside just to grab a screwdriver.
Next comes a little platform lift so you can bring tools up from the basement without having to carry them up the stairs. Before you know it you will make a robot to load the tools onto the lift for you so you'll never have to go downstairs again! 🙂

I continue to be amazed by the absolute vast amount of recycled goods you have lying around ready to incorporate into your projects. Truly incredible.
And no money spent for her beautiful tool box.
Doesn't it seem like just yesterday she moved in there and now the whole place is filled with stuff to make stuff?
I love watching you, I am from Canada, and the first thing I do every Sunday, is to check and make sure there is a Laura Kampf video. I am a senior lady, with no building background, and I find myself cheering you on and am in awe of your creativity!
13:00 Thorns! That's exactly the right word. I've called them "prongy things" for ever. They are thorns. Absolutely. Neat little cabinet.
This is the best thing I've seen in ages. "A shrine" to her passion. SO great. Also, the silent, knowing look she gives Felix while hunting for things to put in it, when she finds something perfect.

How can one woman be so cute, charming, and talented? That tool case is brilliant!
I've learned to never underestimate the need for a random tool at 3am. Looks great, practical, and blends with the tiny house's aesthetic.
Laura: Builds a tiny house to live in her giant workshop
also Laura: This house needs a workshop.
See you next winter for Lise Little Little

"Probably nobody wants this. But I want it. So I built it. And I love it." That is profound and wonderful, I feel a great kinship with this sentiment, once again thank you.
Putting stuff nobody else but you would want in a Tiny House is one of the best parts of designing your own in my opinion.
Such a cool project. I especially vibe with the conclusion. "No one would want this, but I want it, so I build it." So true.
Also a bit disappointed not having the part on camera where Laura realizes that the light switch is wired up the wrong way (lights should be off when pressed, as seen at the end) :D

The black surfaced plywood is what we call "Betonplex" in the Netherlands, and is meant to pour concrete, and therefore, is extremely non-stick.
'Formply' in Australia. I'm actually surprised Laura managed to get the surface off, the stuff here is like epoxy.
Hallo Laura und danke für deine Nachricht und tschüß aus Düsseldorf Germany 🥳🥳🇺🇸🇺🇸🇩🇪🇩🇪🏠
“I want to be like a shrine”. Oh holy tools, I bow to you. Words to live by.
Okay, I need a mini cabinet for tools indoors now. Thanks for ruining my day 😂
I always enjoy how psyched Laura is with her own builds. Everytime she nails it, she's as thrilled about it as we are. 😊
Cool. Sunday morning with Laura and Felix. Grab a coffee and watch. Acceptance and learning - way better than church.
'But I want it. So I built it. And I love it!' -- Laura Kampf. Words to live by, for sure.
All that’s missing is a miniature “Let Glue Dry” sign!

Very nice. The one thing I took away from this video is the plastic bag roller cover. Genius

When I watch you work I think you’re a great maker, when you’re finished and I see the results I realise, again, that you are a great designer.
We just used a 2 part epoxy to glue magnets to metal to keep a door closed. Worked great!
That's such a great idea and it looks so perfect there. I think now more of us want one just like it

6:24 The fact that the the sander is in key...Perfect!
A perfect gift for anyone setting up house for the first time! 🎉
Beautiful! That was so satisfying to watch!
And of course she builds a mini tool storage… Love it!!!

Einfach klass despite this stubborn magnet! Good job, once again.
Love the tiny tool box!! "TTB" 😂
Who would NOT want a tool cabinet as cool as that close to hand. Keep what you love near your heart (unless you love defibrillators 😳😆).
A defib near your heart is always a good idea, you'll never know when you need one
Another fantastic piece of art, both the object and the journey to bring it to fruition, thank you!
I love the tiny toolbox. It's cool.
Never will I throw away a drawer again. Ever. Offtopic: you are such a nice person! Will you do a meet and greet sometime with your viewers? Anyway, never change ♥️
Being able to mend and amend gives you power over your environment. Great choice for a project.

I can't wait to see the outside entrance stairs you build & what furniture you build for the Tiny 🏡.
Fun and elegant solution. Better than what we call our “junk drawer”
So cool Laura! ❤ love the care and consideration put into housing tools. It’s a beautiful piece of functional art.

Great tiny workshop. So much better than my tool bags that I lug between my garage and my basement workshop.❤
Laura, you need a “LET GLUE DRY” sign in there!
I want your tool cabinet. It’s perfect 🤩
Beautiful work.

Once again so ingenious....what a thrill to watch the perfection process, very motivating.
Whenever I do a glue up on a project, without fail since finding your channel, I always say "let glue dry" before leaving the room. You are my biggest inspiration.
The tool cabinet is wonderful! It is a priority as this is you. You are the mechanical mind in the tiny house. Hugs
In my office/gaming room, I have one of those tool cabinets that you'd find in a garage or mechanic shop. Part of the cabinet holds my computer building tools. I don't care if it's "out of place". It makes me happy, so I understand why you wanted to build one for your tiny house.
Great job! Space organization seems to make tiny houses like real snails inside which have everything for a comfortable life!
I think you and Adam Savage have the same Cases and Boxes thing! So do I . Boxes and Cases are wonderful places to start a project.
I love it! And really want it.
I loved the part where you put the hinges on. It was riveting.
you did sneaky change the lighting switch wiring, did you...? 😆
the way those lights are connected is so nice and simple, i love it
Your creativity is Level 3000.
It's a perfect thing to make for one of my sons who lives in an apartment and has really no tools at all. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love that you come up with such cool ideas cheers from 🇨🇦🌈
You must have changed the „direction“ of the switch mid building? I was confused when you pushed the switch and the light went on.
Very nice work. I got some great ideas out of the video.
Very cool tool cabinet!
Maybe a tip:
You could build a stairs + small deck and put it in front of the door of the tiny house.
The good thing about only needing a few tools is that you can buy them used or find them at garage sales ! Often very nice quality!
Freakin’ awesome! I have totally wanted something like this for years and now that I’m nearly 70 yo , Laura builds it! Thank you!
It’s beautiful and perfect!
This is such a “you” build. Love love love it.
I'm so glad you changed the directionality of the door light switch; I even went back to make sure I'd seen it right! :D
