The hours of thought and planning it must have gone into this piece before you even started with the wood! Cataloging, inventorying and measuring every piece of your magnificent tool collection. 😮 To then space plan it all, to fit inside this deceptively simple rectilinear box. Well done Sir! Well done!👏👏👏👏👏
Jason is an outstanding ambassador for 'Made in England,' representing the innovation, quality, and craftsmanship that once defined the UK. In a country now struggling with its identity, he evokes a sense of nostalgia for a proud past we should remember and celebrate.
Your videos help me to reduce my anxiety. Not sure you're aware of how calming your work is, the sounds, the details. I always feel better watching you.
Uck! It's just so beautiful!...Uck! It's just so gorgeous!...The engineering for "Everything has a place and everything in its place"...watching you love that chest into existence and put all those lovely antiques in their new home...just wonderful xo Stunning serenity, start to finish.
@@EpicUpCycling You are so welcome! I found myself speechless, uttering "uck" (for lack of a better word) over and over with each bit of genius you seemed to so nonchalantly reveal during this build. (Me speechless is a compliment, believe me!) Bests to you and yours ❄💖❄
Oh Man! You are the greatest. A master craftsman. I am 64. If I was made of wood and came to you. You would make me look like a twenty year old. The bad news. If I win the lottery. I am moving next door to you. That way you can build everything I would like. May you live long and prosper Sir. I doff my cap to you.
I really, really hope Adam Savage sees this video. I believe he would appreciate both your use of reclaimed materials as well as the stunning visual display you organized of these beautiful tools. Well done!
Jason, you truly are a master builder. Great job on this. I have to ring out my phone now because i was drooling over the toolbox and tools. If you ever want to get rid of them, please let me know. I have a nice spot in my shop. Lol.
People who dislike this just need a hug! Absolutely satisfying seeing your scraps become beautiful pieces of art, you sir are an amazing woodworking mad man, must be an honor to own so many old tools as well!

you sir are a true MASTER CRAFTSMAN!!!! your attention to detail is mind blowing. this is a dying art form that i wish would make a comeback. my hats off to you!!
Anyone who could give this stunning design a thumbs down has never had the pleasure of hand planing a board with a sharp antique plane. The carpenters tool box used to be his best advertisement of true craftsmanship!
Thank you for sharing your videos. I can always count on enjoying another video from your collection. Please keep making them and look forward to seeing more. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning piece of craftsmanship yet again! I love watching your videos for several reasons :- I get to see things done correctly. The workmanshop is always top notch. You don't have any annoying music playing in the background. You tend to use hand tools aside from a basic saw table, planer and thicknesser. You prove the old saying wrong, because you sir, can actually make a silk purse out of a sows ear !
Incredible work and thanks for the opportunity for the world to view. But being an old fashioned stick in the mud I dont think anything comes close to the Studley Tool Chest; probably why its kept in a museum ☺
After watching this video a few times, I thought "why not give it a try?" When I came to my senses, and reality returned, I nailed shut the door to my workshop. Your work is a marvel.
Seeing other TH-cam so called carpenters in their clinical workshops filled with 100k+ worth of tools and knocking out furniture made out of MDF and plywood then you see a real master of the arts knocking up high quality furniture using the scrap these other builders probably throw away, antique tools and a chicken mushroom pot noodle. Amazing and inspiring work 🙌
A true master of his trade. In building wonderful things from scrap wood, this man is as good as My Mechanics in restoring things. Please Sir, consider taking on one or two apprentices. It would be a shame for generations to come if your knowledge, experience, skill and craftsmanship was lost.
😲 Oh... My father was a carpenter, and from him I grew a respect and love for woodworking and wonderful old tools that has been with me all my life. When I was living on my own and making my own money, I began to grow a collection of vintage tool like these. I always managed to find small, suitable boxes in which to keep them, and I used some of my old woodworking tools to make Appalachian dulcimers. I've always loved those old tools... Alas, I have far fewer these days, than I'd like... Sadly I haven't the room, anymore. I still love the sight of them, though. I wanted to thank you for this build. It's been truly gratifying to watch a master at work. Thank you for having the respect for these fine old tools that you would take such a careful, thoughtful time building such a wonderful chest to house them. 💕
It’s so painful to watch someone do things the long, hard way. Yet so mesmerizing. Beautiful workmanship. Painful as it may be to see things done the hard way, don’t change. We need people like you to keep the old ways alive.
I never see plans, just a design genius with the patience of a saint! By trade sir are you an engineer, architect, or an incredible artist? I love watching you work & marveling at your creativity… Thank you for sharing!
Surprising spatial ideas. Such a historic Transformers. As for the tools used, the workmanship is very precise. The whole thing is transferred to a different reality. In other climates. How different it is from today's rush, pace and sloppyness.
New to your channel, subscribed. I have to mention, I've never seen a woodworker use glue without wasting a good 60-70% . Til now, that is. That got my respect. Never saw the need to pour buckets of the stuff like they're shareholders in the glue company.
Absolutely brilliant design. Those old tools deserve a wonderful home like that. You will also know if anything is missing. Just don’t buy any more tools. 🤓
I think having the pins on the end is more traditional. It’s fine for what you did in this vid, but if you did a single dovetail on a 1X2 with tails out like that, it would act as a wedge and much more easily split? Maybe that’s the British traditional way of doing it? Esther way, a beautiful amazing project!
Honestly Jason, I'm a bit speechless and awed. Purest definition of Epic, IMHO and welled up at the end! (old geezer stuff) Thanks for making my day and then some!

Gotta love how the Amish community makes these boxes without modern machines, simply wonderful workmanship that will last for many many years! I’d like to see a modern plastic toolbox after a decade compared with this piece of furniture. Thanks for showing us this, it’s wonderful!
Great protect! When cutting the grove on the panel with the plower plane you have to start at the end of the piece and little by little work your way backwards towards your body. Will make your life much easier!

True, but I bet he can't ride a unicycle while juggling an egg whisk, a chainsaw and a ping-pong ball... blindfolded!!
