30 years in prison and fully asset-stripped. Her liquid assets should be confiscated to pay towards court costs, the £100m court case that needn't have taken place due to her lies, subpostmaster recompense and us the tax-payer.
She should have her post office pension confiscated too.

Vennels, Parker, Davey, Crozier and all the other senior Post Office managers who presided over this outrageous scandal are unlikely to receive any punishment. They will employ top lawyers who will do whatever it takes to keep them out of court. The people responsible for this cover up/fraud/scandal/ huge miscarriage of justice will simply lie low for a while and then, in a few years time, when the media interest has all died down, they will walk into very well paid jobs somewhere else. The damage done by Revd. Vennells and her cohorts is more than appalling and a stain on the CofE's reputation, diminishing the many good works it does, such as setting up Food Banks, opening centres for the homeless plus many other much needed community services addresssing ills in society, mostly carried out by the laity. My understanding is that Horizon were accessing their systems overnight to cover up faults in their software. Unfortunately, to avoid criticism, the Sub Post Masters were not told. To avoid being automatically locked out of the system for the following days and lose income and have suspicions directed at them, the SPMs moved figures around, which many later admitted to, to try and balance the shortfalls. The shortfalls and discrepancies were the result of the faulty Horizon system and there was no actual disappearing monies. There were three scandals (at least). Firstly the faulty software that was covered up, the covert but known regular changing of Post Office takings, and the final cover up of what was taking place by senior management et al that led to miscarriages of justice and wrongful convictions.

It’s very obvious that amounts of money were changed and the PO told repeated lies saying you’re the only one whose figures are wrong. Many people paid to save themselves being imprisoned. But nothing has revealed where the money, wrongly extracted from the PO branch managers finished up. I cannot believe it remained in the main PO account. Normally when money is syphoned away like this, it goes into someone’s pocket for personal gain. It benefit’s a small group of robbers only.
For me, most important question is who personally benefited from this? Where did the money extracted from the managers finish up. Surely it must be the small group of top executives who persecuted the local managers. No one would drive people to commit suicide unless they benefitted in some way. It’s a real swamp of deceit already, but many questions still need to be answered.

We need reflect very seriously on the state our society and who we elect as our Leaders, when MPs lie, behave appalingly, party away happily during Covid; when officials in Corporate Companies bloat out on fat bonuses, cover up mismanagament, create scandals as in the Post Office tragedy, then society is going wrong.
If we elect low grade governance can we expect justice, right dealings, fair play? Perhaps we need to return to those values mocked as " old- fashioned" "out- dated" " religious guff" ?
Values like truth, honesty, justice, righteousness, generosity, kindness are needed.
The good old Bible has a lot of wisdom in it. A little glance at Proverbs or the Ten Commandments might be a useful starter, because the way we seem to be going is not the path of wisdom, but certainly the path of folly.
