This case will be studied for decades by business students to exemplify the very worst of bad management practice. There are lessons to be learnt by many corporates in the exposures of bad practice laid bare here, putting the benefit of the company way ahead of the rightful benefit of individuals working within it.

It might look like they’re not pinning her down, but it’s just that they stop when she has given her position & held it after being confronted with the opposing facts/arguments. They don’t need to call her a liar every time.
Later the inquiry judge will assess her evidence & credibility against all the other evidence & documents.

@@meganm1074Yes, I agree the lawyers are doing very well, particularly Jason Beer and Sir Edward Henry. And I understand the situation they are in - it’s a public enquiry, not a court of law. What I was getting at was that she was the CEO of the Post Office, which made her responsible whether she likes it or not. I saw elsewhere that she said that, even as CEO, she wasn’t responsible for everything that happened underneath her, or words to that effect. If that were true, it would merely support her position (which, as far as I can see, every senior member of the Post Office who has been questioned has adopted) that everything that went wrong was someone else’s fault, because she didn’t know or didn’t have the necessary expertise or hadn’t been told. It was her job to know, and also to ask some pointed questions rather than just fling out a few ineffectual ones and then go along with whatever she was told. Before retirement I worked for some very senior people in the police service, and none of them would have accepted some of the things she accepted without asking some very serious questions. I wasn’t seriously suggesting the KC’s should ask her what she thought the job of a CEO was, but I would have been very interested to hear just what she thinks it is !

Having now seen her in action and with 16 years of being a teacher (from industry) dealing with inner city kids whose very instinct and natural reaction was to lie, blame every one else but themselves, pause so they can think of an excuse, blink continuously and most of all truly believe they have done nothing wrong.
A classic example, I once caught a girl of 15 in front of a class I was about to teach, writing on my white board something extremely rude about me, who after watching her do it, on turning around on seeing me, drop the felt tip and without thinking said "It wasn't me!"
The DEA and Teacher Training Colleges should use these video of Vennells to teach new teachers how to spot the classic signs of a LIAR and a person in total denial they did any wrong.
The thing is as with psychopaths which I believe in truth she really is, their total inability even with a wealth of examples, an avalanche of evidence, public's reaction to her when she leaves to go home and possibly she reads all the comments in the TH-cams STILL believes she did nothing wrong and was not her fault.

Strange how bad these peoples memories are yet good enough to remember tiny details when leading us away from an answer 🤔

How has collective amnesia and blatant denial of facts & documented evidence become the default defence of people in high office? Vennells, Johnson, Sunak, Hancock, etc are a national disgrace and have brought shame on this country. What a truly awful example to our children growing up, to show that financial gain can be procured not through honest hard labour, but by being a liar, corrupt and Incompetent.

she isnt accepting any responsibility at all, and its another example of someone in the UK in such a senior position, including being an Anglican priest with such poor morals and values. These processes in the UK are inherently broken, all the time were hearing of people in positions of trust abusing it for their own personal gain.

Time and time again we are told that those at the top attract salaries many times in excess of staff because they bring so much talent, experience, and have such a positive influence on the business to the level that they can command six and seven figure payments, bonuses and benefits. We are told they shoulder much responsibility and that if it goes wiring will carry the can, and thus are entitled to all this. Yet, time and time again when the shit hits the fan they are shown to be out of touch, incompetent, and clueless and completely unresponsible for anything, blaming everyone else in range and beyond.
They should be dismissed, banned from running anything ever again, made to pay back the massive payments and wards, and where appropriate jailed. You cannot ruin people’s lives through criminality, negligent or incompetence and get off Scott free. Ignorance is no defence, incompetence won’t get you off as much as a speeding ticket so it shouldn’t work here.

I think jobs are given now using the smart technique where a man has to play the role of a white knight to get the job. Meanwhile employers are looking for social inclusion to make themselves look good for their HR department. Stoicism nowadays will get you nowhere despite the fact that the whole infrastructure of the country was built on it. Paula Vennells was clearly not the best candidate for the job but clearly the whole place was a shambles.
