MyAnna Buring is amazing as Tissaia. Her portrayal of this character is incredible and her role is one of the best things about The Witcher show.
I really enjoyed her relationship with Yennefer as teacher/student and mother/daughter.

Tissaia was amazing, poised, beautiful, disciplined, strict, yet uplifting. That scene almost made me cry. She was a true matriarch.

Tissaia de Vries you will always be missed.... MyAnna acting is extraordinary. After finished the SS3 I couldn't stop watching vids about her. Her appearances in the show never disappoint. Losing her is such a big loss. I will never cope.

Tissaia was the only character that was actually written very well. Despite the books portraiting her different. The Actress herself did an outstanding job. Because of her I forgot how tissaia in the books has been. It's not easy for an actor overshadowing a books appearance, yet doing it with so much care that you feel you don't miss it. Superb acting.

What a great edit! Also, they could not have picked a better actress to play Tissaia. MyAnna is nothing short of extraordinary! I've read the books, and I think she brought humanity to the character. I'll miss watching her! Very much so.

I agree in the books she is very compulsive and precise. I love the relationship between yennefer. She hides her massive heart only yen knows. She acts mean but its true love when yen disappears after sodden it nearly breaks her awesome acting. Proper detail.

Tissaia's character intrigued me the most and made me interested in the show more. Her storyline was really interesting besides her crush on vilgeforts ugh (she wasn't some schoolgirl who has her feelings clouding her judgement) They could have done a better job with that. I really wished they would let her live :/ Stellar job from the actress!

Tissaia is a great character played by a sublime actress and they totally flopped on her inconsequential "last resort" spell from which everyone walked out unharmed, minus a couple nameless soldiers.
Riiiight?! The Elven queen and the other mage (can't remember her name) used the same basic shield spell they always used and it worked just fine :( Disappointing. Heavy plot armor there!

I cant believe Tissaia's gone...she was one of my favs ( kuddos to Buring's sublime acting)...also, I really think she had an amazing chemistry with Anya, as did Henry. Sorry but I couldnt give a damn about Ciri's storyline, she was boring (and sometimes pretty annoying). Like alot of ppl here, I dont think i will watch the next season

It was originally also in the books. The circumstances around the event were slightly different but mainly the same.
Not at all. This was in the books too. The guilt over everything at Thanedd, such as undoing the spell that freed Vilgefortz, as well as seeing all her colleagues die is something she can't live with - for her, it's a huge reason to end her life. She's talked about Aretuza being everything she has since S1... and now it's all gone. She believes herself guilty for the war that broke out.
@@eox1144 even if it was in the book, too much drama, like it's not a reason to commit suicide (in the books vilg wasn't her lover so it's not about love betrayal).
Like she even then saved what's left of aretuza, she must have lived on and showing more responsibility not take the easy way out.
@@mouhamaddakkakchami1000 it is for her. She has too many lives on her conscience, she feels guilt for the brotherhood's eradication, for a second war breaking out. She says it in the episode - the lives of every soldier are on her. She also says there is a cost she must pay. She feels she has failed and thinks death is the cost for that failure.
The books justify it. She was responsible for freeing Vigelfortz who was basically trying to destroy everything. Her bad mistake caused lots of death and destruction. She felt responsible, and seeing what her "children" had done she took her life. It isn't a nice fantasy world, the world of the Witcher is dark.

The Witcher (Netflix) ended for me when Tissaia died. Everything else was DLC, and the new Gerald is just legends of legends.
I hate what they made out of Yen, Tris and Tissaia. one of the most important thing those women know in the books "my live as a scorcerer is blessed, i life a preveleged life and have it better than all other women ever and everybody else knows that too, so a scorcerer is not allowed to pity herself and cry. a scorcerer never cries."
And in this series all they do is crying.

I’ve always wondered what’s the cost to every other magical act these mages do? i mean, their arm blackens to the point of falling out when they make a little stone levitate, but what about all the things during the battle of Aretuza, the protective shields against that falling portal, the magical attacks or whatever they’re called, offensive/defensive spells, or at Sodden, or when Yennefer has that orgiastic banquet, lr when she makes the spell for the guy with impotence? not to mention Ciri’s magic.
There’s 4 sources of magic water air earth fire if you try to cast a spell with out drawing on a source in the show the consequence is it takes something from I’m not sure exactly maybe it takes a bit of your life or a body part, you don’t need to touch or hold a flower/one of the sources to draw magic that was just a visual hint to the audience that magic ruins out also there’s no cost to magic as long as you have a source to draw from there can be side effects when casting really powerful spells like getting tried or feeling faint etc I’m not sure if your hair would turn white in the books but I guess that what happens in the shows version
In the part where I said you don’t need to hold a source because the mages can draw from sources in the area that there in I don’t know how far they can draw from exactly but in s1 yen was able to draw from the Fire that was on the broken building and the mages in the school were drawing from the chaos pool to fight the elves
I miss the iconic Tissaia from the book. Actress from the series is amazing but the scenario don't use the full potencial of the character and the actress. Also the series Tissaia is naive and pretty weak, minwile in books she is actualy powerfull. She didn't like vilgefortz in any way. She made a mistake in Tanedd and she felt guilty. I am not satisfaed by serie version of my fav character but Your edit is amazing (Sorry for my mistakes, english is my second language) p.s. please read the books

They nerfed her performance and traded it for lightning. Almost certainly she could have casted the lightning just fine without anything but in the books apparently she was shooting a fireball per fingertip. I’d have been fine if they added the lightning but they should have made it where she was practically undefeatable since she was. She wasn’t just blasting the enemy too. She was blasting literally everyone because her mind broke a bit
I have mixed feelings on how they depicted her death in the show. I remember in the books not realizing she was about to die until getting to the line along the lines of "she folded the letter and then slit her wrists". It was so sudden and completely threw me and was an amazing twist, and I feel like that wasn't present in the show - you could see she was going down that path. That being said the show did it in a way that was more natural and easier to follow. Two different approaches and it's hard for me to say which I prefer. Amazing edit either way!
