Yes. Unfortunately I have been taking it for a long time. My GP has no solution to wean me off. It's either this or suffering from sleep deprivation from apnea. Cruel vicious circle.

I’m not to sure about that in everybody…. I’ve been on zopiclone for 30 years , I changed 10 days ago to melatonin and if I was addicted, I would not be able to do that , half of it is psychological .

Personally I don't see much chance for abuse nor addiction. I have abused both opioids and benzos with alcohol and tried to do the same with "Z drugs". The results were underwhelming. But with most sobriety altering substances it's entirely possible to get addicted.

@@hellrazor117 You were chasing some sort of recreational effect then? There are druggies that do that with benzodiazepines but it doesn't have a recreational effect on me no matter the dose, neither do I blackout even at reportedly recreational dosages, and I'm talking things like 3.5 mg of clonazolam. I assume the same would be true for these Z-drugs even though I never tried them.
I theorize that many addicts of alcohol, benzodiazepines and opioids have a poor P450 system, a group of enzymes that break down or transform a massive variety of substances most notably the substances I mentioned earlier. A good functioning system would trigger the enzymes very fast so that any drug would break down quickly and the recreational effect would be minimal. For those with worse functioning systems the drug stays longer, and thus the recreational effect increases. Not to mention that for those with metabolize drugs ultra-fast would also develop tolerance ultra-fast to the point that you'd need insane amounts to overdose where an average person would have died.
I have actually been in a latter situation where given the dosage I should have OD'd. Instead I was fine. Happy to be in the lucky 5% of the population, although there are massive downsides to this as well, such as certain medicines being completely ineffective for a certain ailment.
That said you can still develop dependence on benzos.
