To be fair, the roulette system makes it hard to stay on W-fist, while kamakura (ninja) keeps their speed all game. It's just that W-fist is so amazing.

It's a dogu head the dogu are part of japanese mythology look them up on Google they are super interesting the date all the way back to 14000 b.c. so super old stuff
The “big head” is from a Dogū figurine, which traces back to prehistoric Japan; it’s very common to see them in works that have to do with ancient history or civilizations in some way. As was already said, the guy with the mallet is Atomic Runner Chelnov, and he fought a Dogū statue in his game. As for why they show up like this, it’s just Data East being weird.
