Thanks for watching this road test and review of a HD Street Bob. Hope you enjoyed it and found it useful. I tried to be realistic as possible with the ride and give an instant reaction as I was riding along. Hope this helps. Cheers
A lot of reviews say you can't ride these bikes long distance. I rode my fxe across the U.S. many times . I rode my fxsbs across the U.S. many times . Now I will ride my fxbb across the U.S. Travel light . Travel fast .
This bike is meant to be made your own, so put what you want on it because its yours. Dont let anyone tell you how your bike should look. Thats whats great about buying a motorcycle, who cares if you put a two upper seat on it.
as you know i am a sport glide rider, a friend of mine has the Street Bob, he does wish it had a bigger tank, like the sportglide, and with the Mid Controls, he had them changed for the forward controls like the sportglide, so for a taller rider they can be changed quite easily. great review again. as for the clonking into gear, on my first service i had fully synthetic oil put in and it does make a difference. stay safe, cheers. Tom
SportGlide Rider thanks Tom much appreciated. Yep I do think that tank is too small for the bike. Interesting about the oil change though. Good to know cheers
I have about 420 miles on my Street Bob. I love it. Perfect for the kind of riding I do. So far I have forward controls, Vance n Hines Twin Slash Slip-ons, Custom Dynamics LED’s and Saddlemen Step-up seat to keep my behind in place. Intake and SE Pro tuner coming soon. Oh yeah, z-bars too. Addictive!!
Happy with mine, added a pillion pad and hold fast sissy bar, still looks good to me. The tank is smaller than most of the other soft tails but I wont be going more than 150 miles before I stop anyway. As you suggest if I wanted to put lots more accessories on it like forwards or proper two up seat, luggage it would be better to buy a Sport Glide or Heritage from the go. Great review.
I traded in the old model in and bought a new Softail the day after Chester Harley-Davidson got them in from the U.S. One thing you didn't mention, was to fit a sissy bat. It makes the bike look even better. I've also changed the saddle to a single sprung leather. On short Sunday rideouts with my Harley mates, superb. Very recently I've added a small quality screen. I very enjoyed your video.
Another very good review Alf, unfortunately you’re now stuck in two minds, Street Bob, Sport Glide, it now depends on what you want the bike for, around town or around town and buggering off for a few days. For me it was a similar choice and the SG came out a winner because of the versatility it has. Both bikes have the ability and power to get you out of trouble, to be honest I think that if your SG that you demoed had had higher bars and more black you’d have bought it when you took it back. Good luck with your decision.
I'm almost sure my choice is the SG but you're right if it had those other things I would have jumped at it straight away. Just working the finances on my current bike before making the final choice. Cheers
I wanted this bike so much just because of the look (loved it). But after riding it, I was so disappointed because of the uncomfortable sitting position with this terrible stock seat (no back support at all), the mid controls (felt like a frog before the final jump) and these thin handle bars. I got back pain after a few km and I could never imagine driving this on longer tours (my plan was to get on 500-1000km weekend trips but with this bike in stock config, no way I would do this). Of course you can change everything (new seat, forward controls and other handle bar) but I don´t buy a bike for that much of money then put even more money on it just in order to get an acceptable sitting position (like you said, there is no guarantee that these modifications will fix the problems). From all the softails the Sports Glide was the most comfortable bike for me but I don´t like the look of it with all that chrome and the single exhaust pipe (would be expensive to change this). I think Harley schould get a little bit more modular out of the box, like all the other brands. Why I have to buy parts which I have to change right after buying because I know they will not fit my needs (like the seat or the handle bars) ? If it were cheap to change things, well, than it wouldn´t matter but 850 Euro just for forward controls ? Really ? So finally I went with BMW (R1250R). Not that beautifuel and not perfect at all (only close :-) ) but it feels better, had the better specs and just worked for me (no modification needed in order to sit comfortable for even a 1000km day trip). Harley builts beautiful bikes but this whole customizing thing afterwards was not for me (I do have other expensive hobbys I just want to ride the motorcycle and not building around it).
The thing about Harley's, they evolve with you. I've never seen much point in paying extra for a factory styling exercise. Buy something like this and you've got everything you need as a base line and starting point. Over the years, you can take it in the direction that suits your needs exactly. Let's face it, the accessories are vast in number. Dint pay extra for factory gee gaws you dont necessarily want. I bought my last one in 1982. Old Shovelhead, still have it, and still use it when I've got some miles to do.
Great Review i Love This Bike(Like The Black Color Also But i Saw The Spruce Color and Looked Great) Alf Do You Think This Would Be a Good Starter Bike For Myself(am Over 40 and Level Headed and Not 18 LOL) Thanks Again and Either Way Sport Glide or This Bike Are Both Great Bikes.
Thanks so much. Actually either would be great but if you’re looking out and out fun without any need for practicality then I would surely go for the StreetBob. If you doing low mileage again it would be the better fun choice. Cheers
Just get some bags and strap a Biltwell bag on the sissy bar and you’re good to go! I just took delivery of my 2020 Street Bob a few weeks back and plan on taking a 7-10 day trip in the Spring and I’ll only be taking what I can put in a Biltwell Exfil - 60 or Exfil - 80, along with a tent and a few other things. I’ll probably get the tank bag as well to keep some essentials in for the ride and easy access. But it’ll be a trip with minimal packing, just the essentials! I also have a swing arm bag that carries a small gas can and I can pack my rain gear and some fluids. But it’ll be a fun trip to visit my family on the California coastline and ride through the redwoods from Arizona, cruise control and heated grips will be installed when my new bars arrive so I’ll be set! Cant wait!!!
G ay mate I got 2018 street bob bloody hell go like the clappers short pipes high way pegs out front to stretch out a high sissy bar to rest your back and stop getting blow away great bike get out and buy one stay up right ride safe from down under
I must disagree with you, mine has 14" apes a rear pillion seat that's low profile with a sissy bar and it looks epic with the added accessories, by the way the brakes are actually Brembo (all HD brakes are) but because she weighs 300+ kgs which makes her difficult to slow with the single disc. Great video tho always love gauging what people think of the new softail platform which I feel is reminiscent of the Triumph Bobber (mono shock) style 🤘
Yeah it needs the 5 gallon tank from the Dyna days. I know when I test rode, I had to clutch with index/middle and hold on with the rest. It WILL push you back. May need a Saddleman seat. But go T-Bars man.

Thanks for your comments and the testride! Very good points considering the bags and the purpose of the street bike
Ah thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers

Thanks so much. I still love this bike to be fair
Thanks for info, tempted to move up from my iron 883 which is my second sporty , tank wouldn’t bother me either tbh as I’m used to irons 12l
Thanks so much. Yep it’s a great bike to ride for sure. Cheers

Yep that’s a great bike too
The mid controls feel so cramped and horrible to me. How tall are you?

Yep absolutely Chris. They’re made to be tinkered with
Totally agree Chris :)

Annette Hewitson ah nice. I loved that bike too. Great ride
Yup, awesome Harley !!......good review.

Yep, still an awesome bike for sure. Cheers
You should’ve looked at the Harley parts book.....you can have bags, different seats...just heaps of stuff to make it do what you want
occyman no doubt there is and I did ha ha
Do you ever have a hard time seeing your speed when the sun hits the speedo ?
Yep, got to say I found that too. Not totally convinced by that look at all
Love it :)
Im torn between Street Bob or Sport Glide. Such a hard choice.
I went for the Sport Glide for overall versatility and never looked back. Cheers
@@RevelatorAlf Yes, with the bags it feels alot more complete. And if I just wanna cruise around i can remove them quick. 😊 👍
Sounds like you talked your self out of it. Just buy it you know you want to " haul boxes in the car 👌
I think the sport glide is better suited to me
Dissagree. I think it looks good with the accessories. Makes it "yours".
Nick T vids1223 there will always be something to add or change. It’s only natural
