I don't understand how everyone complains about the mid controls and feeling so cramped. I'm 6 foot and I didn't feel cramped at all. Hip and knee angles are almost exactly the same as sitting on a desk chair, and people sit at their desks for 6 hours a day.
True , i am 6 1 (185cm) and its all good for me . I guess cruiser riders are used to front foot controls and they feel weird , on the other hand me coming from a naked bikes it feels super comfortable for me and again i'm 6ft1
What about touring? I'm 6'1" and recently sat on a 2018 Roadster Sportster. Looking for my first bike. My dad said I looked too hunched over, with my knees too high, but I guess mid controls can feel different on a Sportster vs a Dyna with mini apes.
Just came across your review of this bike. I am looking at trading in my Harley 48 for the new street bob. Your review was amazing. You are my new favorite bike reviewer. Thanks alot for the vid
Drop a gear and disappear ;) like a freight train. As a former harley employee I almost went off the back of my first M8. Shame on me for underestimating it. It is wonderful.
Wellllllllllll I am a former HD employee and I was not shocked by the M8, then again my daily for a long time was the Night Rod Special and that will prepare you for stump pulling torque better than most bikes out there.
I am a Sportster and Japanese bike rider. I really am very pleased with the Sportster, mine being a solid mounted 2003. IF I were to go to a Big Twin, I am quite sure that the Street Bob is the bike I would choose. There are a lot of things to like about it. I like that it is the lowest priced big twin and the fact that it has gotten lighter while Sportster have gotten heavier. This brings the Street Bob closer to the weight of the Sportsters instead of immensely heavier. The mid pegs would be much to my liking also as I feel that control is better than with forward controls. The fact that I am 5'9" tall would make me a good fit on the Street Bob.
ironcast go ride one and I bet it'll be a perfect fit for sure! With the new frame it's much lighter, more nimble, and more fun for sure than it's older counter part. And if they have a Dyna and this ride them back to back and let me know.
A great review. Crisp camera clarity. As well as very clear audio. I couldn't get over just how clear the highway was. Where are all the cars? Traffic accidents. And subsequent congestion? That was very odd to see. Anyways, a solid review. Thanks for taking us along.
You're welcome! This was the older GoPro setup and I have switched recently to a new Sony FDR which can be seen for the first time on the Scout Bobber review that I think is a bit clearer even. And sometimes in Oklahoma we have this random no traffic thing happen still . It is nice for real.
Guaranteed that bike has abs, hence no rear tire lockup. Trust me this bikes brakes are more than adequate. Ride this bike and you will buy it. Its awesome.
I’ll be new to riding, will be taking the MSF course, looking at the, scout bobber twenty, Iron1200 and this one, which is the bike that I really like. Would this be a good first bike?, if you are conscious about the power it makes and ride safe, would it be something a beginner could handle?, Excellent video 👍
The funny thing about this segment and power is that although there are differences, like the Scout's higher horsepower numbers, or the higher torque of the Street Bob, there really is not much difference in feel like in the sport segments. These are tame and easy going type machines so it would not matter which you chose. It would only be a preference of size, handling, comfort.
Good one dude. Shame the rear brake isn't all that. I'd say it's gotta be the weakest point of my '15 Street Bob. I'd classify it as "absolutely sucking." ABS would hopefully solve it.
Be sure to have a good mechanic on standby if you were to get one. Evos are not supported by the dealer network any longer except oil filters and oil and that is literally about it. Also make sure that if you are to get one look at all the seals and ask for service records as a bike that old the fork seals would be getting old and the oil breaking down. Check the brake lines and fluid and make sure they are not corroded and that the fluid is not full of water to be sure it was maintained. Check inside the fuel tank! Ethanol fuels rusts out these tanks really badly and eats the seals out of the carb.
I am guessing an 18 maybe an eh on the brakes but 19s seem to be a bit better as it's sharp then sponge vs. the all sponge of 18. So they may have worked on it. And yes it's good for your height.
I just got my 2018 street bob, tbh my sportster 1200 stage 1 I feel like would smoke this street bob. I like the street bob just gonna have to do a stage 1
I own a 1200 and I own the m8 107 fxbb. My fxbb now has 2 into 1 Vance and Hines pro pipe screaming eagle heavy breather and a SE tune. With harleys it’s really a race to 120 mph. That’s as fast as they go even with a tune.
Thomas Elisseou the way it sits with the mid mount pegs and mini apes and the seating arrangement my 6 foot frame, 32 inch inseam, just feels wrong on the thing, so scrunched. Move to forward mounts it's not bad. I weigh 220
I test rode it last week and like you said, the back brake didn't even work. I wouldn't buy this bike for that reason and the so called mid controls. I'm thinking of getting the Indian Scout instead. I will buy a new bike this year and it wont be this one as much as I love Harley's. I have the 2017 Street Glide that I love and was wanting to up grade my second bike which is a 2012 Bonnie. The only one that I will trade for right now is the Indian Bobber. Sorry Harley. You lose another customer.
Johnny Striple love the Bobber from Indian. Rode it two weeks ago. No video as temps were literally too low for GoPros. It was 18 degrees! But they still ran the demo truck. One thing on it, the seat. I wish you sat into the bike, with something that quick you want a seat like the Night Rod where it's low and into the frame. The Bobber seat is kind of small and flat and under acceleration and a proper bump in the road you'll land on the fender.
Rabid Hedgehog thats cool not saying there good ihavent rode that one i was just saying all softails are spoce to have ABS and they also have a USB port under left side of tank

Christopher de Klerk true im 6foot 2 test rode the streetbob im more concern about getting used to the handlebars rather the mid controls
Fat people that need to hit the gym and bend over once in a while and touch their toes

6'4"...feels pretty dang good to me!!
I got mine in Red Iron Denim about a month ago, I freaking love it!!!
Good color! Hope it brings you long term excitement.
I know it's re-uploaded but I watched the whole thing again. I really liked this review.
This is a very good review as much that I have now watched it twice. Good work Bloke. Sam from Northern Territory Australia.
Thank for the support! I'm from the Guthrie Oklahoma area.

Great review very interested in this particular model I ride a dyna low 2004 I will be seeing Harley soon lol
You will be shocked at how different this chassis is and what a difference this chassis makes.
@@RabidHedgehog thanks for the reviews also price wise this bike make sense in the affordable range for a brand new bike to
Good video. We are almost identical size and weight. This will be my first bike and I’m leaning heavily on the street bob. Thanks for the info
This is a great ride! You might after a while get to forward sets if you're my height and weight so you can stretch out a bit.
I bought this street bob the end of November. Great bike. Fits me good and I'm only 5'6". But, you are correct, back brakes are basically not there.
TheJneg Where did you pick it up at? Iron Nation?
Sun Harley in Thornton, Co.
TheJneg Okay cool. We had a guy buy this unit at literally the same time and I was curious.
What size bars do you have on your street bob? Im looking to get the same bike and do long distance once in a while. and im also 5’6

Great review, you seem to really enjoy it.

Where did you get the gloves? The old star and stripes on the metal is badass!
Bob Gibson picked them up at Cycle Gear.
Rabid Hedgehog thank you.

This one was actually not equipped with the ABS. It was later re-bled and setup and it did correct the issues.
Just bought mine already doing 2 into 1 Vance and Hines pro pipe, new A/C and a fp3 tune from V&H, my 1200 sportster stage 1 felt quite a bit faster.
@@chrisquas4113 was the sportster tuned with fp3? The street bob should be the faster one if it was tuned correctly. Its got 6gears
Do you know what size bars those are?

Good review. I am highly tempted. I have been looking at 1990 softail... any advice?

AdrianVino don’t.
Would 5ft 10 be a good fit? Great review everyone says the rear brake is lacking. Is it an easy fix?
I am guessing an 18 maybe an eh on the brakes but 19s seem to be a bit better as it's sharp then sponge vs. the all sponge of 18. So they may have worked on it. And yes it's good for your height.

Where you at in OK? Would love to get together for a ride. I ride a 19 stage 2 street bob.
Located around Guthrie
Good "ride out", you certainly seemed to enjoy the bike and to me that's what it's about. :>)
I just got my 2018 street bob, tbh my sportster 1200 stage 1 I feel like would smoke this street bob. I like the street bob just gonna have to do a stage 1
Sportsters are some of the fastest Harleys actually and generally can beat any big twin.

Those gloves are pretty awesome.
They are Oneal motocross gloves I use for summer.
Looks like your riding around edmond ok
How tall are you?
I am a smidge over 6 feet tall but under the 6 feet 1 mark.
Enjoyed your video love this bike had one out on a demo and I must have one.
How was the braking on it? Have they improved since the year one sponge.
Rabid Hedgehog braking was a little lacking I’m used to sport bike brakes. Loved the ride mini apes the sound never thought I would want one but I do.
Are they not bleeding the brakes
Gotta be it, I can lock the rear no problem, although mine does have forwards on it so I'd imagine they had to bleed the breaks to swap em out
Switch out the pads for better after market can fix this problem on some bikes
Fat Bob has full floating rotors and one inches more travel. In the back.
I own this bike it is the way the clutch is adjusted. Mine rolls out mid way
Thanks. I figured that is what it was.
where is the sound HD?????
*Sound and appearance package* for an extra $1000 you get the sound you're looking for with the pipes it should have out of the box.
you say the bike is too small for you so how tall are you and your weight?
Thomas Elisseou the way it sits with the mid mount pegs and mini apes and the seating arrangement my 6 foot frame, 32 inch inseam, just feels wrong on the thing, so scrunched. Move to forward mounts it's not bad. I weigh 220
the brakes gotta "brake in"
They had known issues now though so they were not set right or something. They have worked it out now.
I test rode it last week and like you said, the back brake didn't even work. I wouldn't buy this bike for that reason and the so called mid controls. I'm thinking of getting the Indian Scout instead. The seat would be the first thing that I would change out. I aim to giver her a go as soon as the weather gets better. Too much rain hear lately.
@@RabidHedgehog I decided to by the 1200 Iron. Very happy with it. Looks great, rides great and the breaks are great. Very happy with my purchase.
They gain more. The new motor, frame and suspension is dope thickness. I’ll be your customer, Harley.
All the MY18 are spoce to be ABS bikes
The Night Rod that I have also has ABS and the back brake system does not feel as numb as this one.
