I would do the shorter stroke 107 because of the power delivery. I would upgrade the engine to a gear drive cam(new cams too) and the oil pump upgrade, must have maximum oil delivery and then.....Might as well put a supercharger on it...and never put Harley Davidson oil in it. LOL! It seems like all of the problems with the M8 happen above 107?
I'm still rolling my 99' Sporty with a 883, so ya a 107 would be plentiful in the HP department. In So Cal traffic having all the ponies won't do much good lane splitting if ya can't fit.
@@jonnymac8925 Ok, list them, please. Reliable mean: can compete with the REAL reliable big four: Honda, Kawa, Yamaha, Suzuki. I really hope to learn something and read some facts and number. By my experience, the Evo was the ONLY engine that i dare to call reliable. Do you know others?
I have a stock 107 with the exception of a TAB slip on muffler. I'm very happy with it. Runs strong with my wife on the back. Easily capable of getting speeding tickets in short order. If I was looking for a fast bike, I would have bought a 'Busa.
Y'all don't sleep on the Redshift 468 from Zippers. Outstanding cam in the 107. I'm running it in my 17 RKS along with the complete S&S cam chest. I love it.
My Heritage Softail 114 ran good stock. After a year, I went stage 2 with wide band sensors and tuner pro. Oil pump update was done with cam change. Approaching 4 years since new and very pleased. Butt dyno agrees.
I like my '18 Road King standard. 107, with a stage 2 torque cam, updated oil pump, ventilated dipstick, plus all the stage 1 stuff. The thing runs so good.
2019 107 Stage 2 Oil-Cooled now going into season six. Still perfect. Still rocking. Still pulls to the rev limiter and speed limiter. Nothing more required. Still using Syn 3 in all 3 holes. Always comes out clean. Zero debris on magnetic plugs ever. Doesn't burn a drop from change to change. I have never seen better wear characteristics in an engine in my Very long years. Good engine. That Woods cam is soo inviting tho. lol. Thanks man.
Haha just bought a 2022. Road glide 107” this winter, I rode shovels evo’s for years, I love the power of my 107” but nothing wrong 80” evo with the right cam, gunna ride it with a free flowing air leaner and tune for right now, nice to know I bought a good one, thanks for the video
Yeah that's how it always goes for Harley. The smaller displacement engine quickly falls by the wayside. In a couple years the 117 will be the standard engine, there'll probably be a 121 for the CVO's and the 114 will be called the "small" engine. Whatever lol
And then the 121 will be the small engine just like how Harley Davidson came out with the 117 CVO and people still wasn't happy so they get the 131 crate engine and then made that into 140 engine it goes on and on and on 🤣🤣🤣 I'm happy with my cvo 124 drop in kit .
Had a 2019 Deluxe. Had the 107. Did the stage 3 screaming Eagle kit. With the TTS tuner, I got 117 hp and 117 ft lbs. More than enough for me! Thanks for your videos, keep up the good work!
I'm in agreement. I have a 107 RG with Star Racing 30/30 cam, solid push rods, tappets and tuned with Techno Research...my bike rips! A friend who has a 114 with HD stage 2 has nothing for me. Ill pull past everywhere all the time.
19 electra glide standard 107. Took everything out of the cam chest and installed a S&S 465G Cam chest kit, PV tuner, fulsac headers and pulling 105 hp and 112 fp tork……you are absolutely right! Love the motor! Also put external breather on it and The bike seemed like it came to life
I tried external breather on my 107 but with 465rs it pinged and dumped, finally gave up and traded it in,. Dumb move by me probably, since I had replaced/fixed those issues, oh well
Got similar performance with redshift 468 and Power Duals hi output VH exhaust system, Arlen Ness big suckerS&S cam chest and oil pump, I never increase displacement, just look after the fuelling and exhaust and you will have performance and longevity.
I'm riding a stock '21 Softail Slim. It has plenty of power and I like the throttle and power delivery vs. the 114 Heritage I was also considering. I have owned many bikes, but this is easily one of my favorites. Does everything well, it's like the new UJM... lol. 114/107 It's really like splitting hairs, the difference is really not all that much especially stock (or with the same mods). I ride with guys that are riding twin cam 103 and none of them feel like they are lacking power. 107 is a fine engine.
I have a 21 model sport glide with stage 1 and full Vance and Hines big radius. I ride with a mate who owns a 114 Fatboy with a stage one and Reinhardt racing slip ons. He ain’t pulling away from me and 107 is more than enough and no need to consider a 114. There is nothing in it. I’m more than happy with 107. 😎👍
With only a few mods done on my 107 I smoke 114's like cheap cigars with that short stroke motor. Only advice is use good reputable proven aftermarket parts and tune. great motor to build the way you want it
I agree 💯 with your review, just had a cam installed on my 2020 softail slim, boy dies that motor wake up with stage 1 mods and now can, runs smoother and punches hard. Can’t imagine wanting any more than the engine provides now
A M-8 107 is like a small block chevy,short stroke,if build,tune correctly their nasty just like my TC 95. I'm about to do a stage 2 on my 2021 107 SG standard.
I've always said there's a lot to be said about short stroke, that 95 makes power real quick compared to a longer stroke engine. The 107 does the same thing, especially when you hold on a 114 with that shorter stroke.
I bought my Heritage Special new in 2020. I was lucky in the timing of my purchase. I got the 114 special for $1000 more than the 107 and only about $2000 over MSRP with color too. I bought right at the time where they weren’t selling bikes fast before the plandemic caused the shortages.
Great vid! My sons got the 107 in his RK I’ve got the 114 in a RGL both stage 1 the RK is a little lighter obviously but wins out the hole and the roll… don’t sleep on it!
I think too many people focused on the displacement. It wasn’t quite big enough to draw people from the tried and true 103. What many failed to realize is how well these M8’s breath. With some simple mods and a tune, the 107 will really scream.
But, the weak links need to be addressed first. Yes, a four valve head design will obviously breathe. But little details confound me. Why they would design the oil return line to be routed as such ??? Not well thought out details. JMO. The EVO, still a benchmark of reliability, and simple, straightforward design.
I traded in my street bob 114 last week for a new 2022 Electra Glide 107. Wife decided she just wanted to ride 2 up and not on her own. I was approved for a loan from my bank and could have gotten either the Electra Glide standard or Road king standard 107 in the price range i was approved for. My father had Electra Glides for years so naturally i went with the bat wing fairing. I've noticed the 107 is a bit smoother than the 114. The 107 has plenty of power IMO even on a touring model. I ordered cobra 909 pipes and will be ordering a high flow air cleaner in the coming weeks. I will be doing a stage 2 kit over the winter as well. Although I'm not sure which kit I will do since I'm unsure if the warranty will be voided even with this FTC stuff going on with Harley-Davidson. Great video and I'm glad to see the 107 is still viable to some people.
Purchased the 22' Road King 107. Last year for that model. Added SE Breather, Lifters. Andrews #460 cam. Khrome Werks 2-1 Outlaw exhaust. Tuned with Wideband O2 sensors. Bike runs awesome.
To each is own but newest 107 road glide for main purpose riding long distance it does everything limps along 8085 completely happy bone stock staying that way
107 for the win!!! On my second Harley with a 107. first one i staged 2, but after i get done with some finance stuff, im going stage 2 on my second. Might go 124ci, and call it a day. 22 to 28 thousand for the engine upgrade sure is a bummer. I actually went 107 on my new road glide due to pricing. Had a choice of my dealerships last two 2021 road glides that they were gonna sell me at MSRP. Just couldnt pony up for the 114. Thats a new car price. Great video Gixxerfoo.
I put a 465 s&s cam in my 107 with a vo2 rogue air box and V&H power duals and destroyer 450 mufflers....had it tuned and I'm getting 97hp and 118ft-lbs of Torque to the rear wheel
Well Gixer you have made some excellent points and definitely got me thinking about my next bike. That tourque would be fun. All the best brother from NZ 🇳🇿
Ha, from a random note on a tiktok I started looking for this motor specifically for about 3 weeks. Trying to decide which platform I want. Great video, thanks.
I got me a 2020 soft tail street bob with the 107...so far bassani road rage 3 2in1 shorty, SE heavy breather intake and a SE tuner. That stage one really made a difference on the bike. Dyno showed it makes now 89 hp and 119ft lbs torque. Cant wait to cam it. I know the 475 cam from s&s is good but what else is there?
True! 🤔 Maybe that’s the reason I got my 2018 ultra limited 107 last July with 7k Miles for $21k! Nobody probably want it because of the 107! Lol and it also came with a SE stage 1 tuner & TBR slip on’s. The bike looks new it was definitely garage kept no sun fade! Win for me!! I love it! It has plenty of power for 2 up riding. Now that I saw your video I might do a cam later.. It’s two tone Silver Fortune Metallic / Sumatra Brown Metallic
Bob Would be proud. Ha, see what I did there? 😉 2018 FLHTK 107. Before the warranty was up I installed this cam, S&S cam plate and oil pump, Fuel Moto lifters and pushrods along with Tab Performance Zombie baffles slip ons. FP3 does a great job controlling managing everything. It’s a great set up and I love that cam. Just enough lope that you know it’s there at idle and turns on around 2100 RPM, and pulls hard past 5200. Thinking about trying the standard baffles, Zombies are to dang loud. Thinking my next add is a Darkhorse compensator and Hayden tensioner or maybe the manual adjustment Screaming Eagle. Those M8 heads flow great with the 4 valves. That cam shines in its overlap. Good video!
Where I live in Ontario Canada, if a 114 hits the floor then it's gone in 3 days or less. Most are spoken for before they arrive at the dealership. I know where there's a beautiful 2018 Softail Deluxe 2-tone red with a 107 and low miles and it's been sitting there for 2 months. It's priced at $20,995 CAD or $16,150 USD and it won't sell. I don't get it. If I could afford it right now, I'd be all over that. For now, I'm still happy with my stage-1 2009 Sportster 1200 Custom. Even if I buy an SD with a 107 M8, I'd keep the Sportster because it has it's own charm. Love me a nice EVO.
Got a '17 RoadKing, thought it had lots of power compared to my '05 TC88 ultra . Put a 460 Andrews cam, Feuling oil pump, Rhinehart 2-1's, Cobra high flow air cleaner and Thundermax tuner. Holy smokes..... the difference is amazing from stock, almost scary, but really evened the throttle response, and more top end than I'll ever need.
I had an '18 ultra limited for three years and the 107 is no problem. I used the bike to go places. I also had the Vrod muscle but I didn't ride that crazy either. I don't know why people get so power obsessed, at least not where I live. The cops are Always out looking for speeders. Only red lights and speed, they don't seem to enforce anything else.
Butt dyno! I forgot that term! I bought a new road glide with a 107 may 5th. On June 23rd I rented a 114 on my trip to Indiana. For 5 days I rode a good 4 hours per day except one day I rode for almost 6 hours. I am telling you that stock, both nearly no mileage, the butt dyno told me that the difference was nearly nothing. However it was a little my street glide rental might be a little heavier? Once I put stage 1 on my 107 (it did hit a wall at like 3200 rpm, although you could certainly go through it it was noticeable) I sincerely feel like it is all the motor for a guy who has never had the money to totally buy a ball busting Harley over a decked out 114 or more. So butt dyno s and speedometers don’t lie. Don’t think it is inadequate or something, it can really hang on the road.
I love my 107 in a Softail. So far just a stage 1 and a FP3 I’m at 81HP and 108 torque. Doing a S&S 465 this winter and hoping to get to the 83-85 HP, 112-115 ftlb
Sir I can tell you this if you change your exhaust to a quality 2into1 and cam that scoot you will turn that 107 into a beast!! My little 88 tc with a cobra 2into1 and a S@S 510 cam well my scoot is no slouch 83HP. 94 TQ. Rear wheel. My friend has a Slim 107 put a stage 1 with V.H 2into1 he gained 20 % H.P. That scoot is quick!!!!
If you’re building up a hot motor to spin for HP the 4.375 stroke is already a long stroke. Better ring seal less piston & rod to block side loading. And less piston speed than the 4.500 stroke. If you are making peak HP at 6,400 and shifting at 6,800/6,900 for the highest average HP from shift to recovery the 4.375 should be a better choice stay sealed & live longer. I’m picturing a 4.500x4.375 over square 139ci in my future.
I had an Ultra Classic with the 107. It felt like it ran out of power early in the curve. It needed some magic. My 21 RGL with the 114 feels more like a twin cam where you can pull longer in each gear. My RG now has a high flow air cleaner, full TAB exhaust and a thunder max tuner. Runs amazing now…. With a loss of 10mpg! 😮I didn’t stutter, my bike went from 47 mpg to 37 mpg😅. I will be installing an S&S 475 cam in mine. I really felt that fuel economy loss on my Sturgis trip this year😅
Sold my Aprilia Shiver 750 (95HP) and bought the M8 107 Low Rider. With Stage 1 it's supposed to be around 85HP. For the style of bike that it is, the stage 1 makes it fast enough for me. I'd probably only put a cam in it to improve the lope.
You could take the 107 swap in a set of discarded (for upgrade) 114 cylinders and a set of custom pistons and get 112 Cu in, then put the Woods cam in. The pistons shouldn't cost that much and rings for 4 inch pistons are the most common on the planet. Small block Chevy, small block Ford, Dodge 360, etc. In reality though, Harley should just scrap the 107 and the 114 and start putting the 117 in everything. Then offer Screaming Eagles and CVOs in the 121 or 124 Cu In Engines. That 117 is awesome! If I was going to get a Milwaukee Eight, it would be the 117.
Just finished my M8 107 Build with the guys at Moonshine Harley here in Franklin, TN . 22 Road King Standard... SUPERB Torque Curve and "always on" power. 121 Torque and 113 HP out of a 107! Wish I had a way to post the Dyno sheet here but man this thing is great. And to your point... I bought a 22 Road King, did ALL the engine build, plus suspension, Custom Dynamics light and STILL cost me less than a Stock RG Special out the door. AND I promise this bike will outrun any stock 114 :) For those interested... Build is a Star Racing 485 Cam ~ 64mm TB/Manifold ~ Fulsac Header ~ Khrome Werks Mufflers ~ Arlen Ness Big Sucker (for stock 107 cover) SE Cam plate/Oil Pump ~ Rekluse Clutch and Basket plus MHP smooth Compensator. All this plus a proper tune and the bike is fantastic.
I Love my 2017 RGS i been eyeing the woods cam and this just help me make my mind up on getting it but i will say this my stock 107 will break the rear looes in the first 3 gears so its got plunty of juice stock but i want that thump we all live for great vid thanks
I have a 22 road king. I got that bike from n Covid days. It’s wanted a road glide. But to no avail could not get one. So I turned my road king into a road glide. Custom dynamic headlights, custom dynamic, running lights, custom dynamic, touring pack light custom dynamic saddlebag lights for the side and the back of it new frame that has the white light in the two yellow lights next to it took out that big clunky thing custom dynamic for lights got it all loved it. Only problem was my 1 07 did not have the power that I needed. It’s not that I’m out there racing around speeding around, but I just like that extra power you know what I mean so I bought the new exhaust slip on. I took it to stage one with the new breather and the tuning did a great job for a little bit that I went to stage two the cam was great, but I felt that I could still do a little better so I did spend the extra money went to stage three I should’ve just went to stage four altogether cause I think I paid more money doing it individually then I would’ve done it just going straight to stage four but it’s stage three the sound is there the speed is there the torque is there everything’s there and I didn’t compromise my gas mileage
little late to the party here, but I have a 2020 FXBB street bob, I did a stage one so far. SE heavy breather intake, Basanni 2-1 exhaust and SE tune. Took it from what they said 80 hp to 89.7 hp and from 105 ft pnd trq to 122. i like the gains tbh. 107 is just fine
I've had used bikes and decided to buy new in 21 and went with the Electra glide standard. That's 6k that I saved more than paid for the screaming eagle stage 2 torque cam included new head pipe and 4.5 in street cannons. "Carmen Electra" glide pulls the Rocky mountain passes with style and grace, and my butt dyno sometimes pucker up, mmmhmm.
My 2019 Slim was only available in a 107 and it's a torque monster. Definitely needs a cam upgrade, plate, oil pump. If I'm still looking for more, prices for the Harley 117 upgrade are not bad.
Can't believe they discontinued the Slim (and the Deluxe for that matter). Slim was best looking model with the polished heads and black jugs, Billiard Blue paint job. Bike just looks right right off the show room floor.
@@599Dan I've got a Twin Cam 103 Slim and it's a "daily driver" (not a 'garage queen'), so easy to live with. The crossbar on the 'Hollywood' bars allows a roll bag to be strapped on for trips away for a few days. If I thought seriously, I should track down a good used M8 107 Slim to replace my Twin Cam Slim. I bought the 103 Slim used at a good price, so probably won't lose too much value on it if I decided to part with it. One of the annoyances of the Slim is the OEM HD wheel spokes start to rust eventually. I've seen rusty spokes on the M8 Slim as well.
@@Jonathan-L I like the twin cam Slims, they look lower and more aggressive to me somehow, I think the back Fender might be slightly different? sounds like you have some history with your Slim I'm sure it would be hard to part with. Dealership has offered to buy my bike back several times. I'm told the slims are in high demand since they've been discontinued.
@@599Dan When I got my Softail Slim back in 2020 it was an opportunity I didn't want to miss out on. First up, the bike was 5 years old, only had 3000 miles on it, and had a stage 1 job (SE Heavy Breather, Bassani Firesweeps, V&H FP3 tuner, plus Mustang seat, LED headlight, Jack Knife pegs, swingarm saddlebag). The previous owner sold it to me for about $6000 less than what he paid, so it was a good deal, so I got a really good Softail with the extras for the price of a new 1200 Sportster. Luckily, I was able to head-hunt a really good independent HD mechanic, which also influenced the go-ahead with the purchase. Buying the bike was made easy, thanks to Gixxerfoo, Matt Laidlaw and Kevin Baxter. I'm halfway around the world from those guys, and never met them, but their TH-cam clips really helped me make a sound decision. I've got no regrets with the Slim, and happy to get the last of the fully air cooled engines. I was put of the early Milwaukee 8 bikes with the sumping issues and compensator sprocket design, but if I was buying now I would probably go for a good used Sport Glide (love the 'convertible' style of being able to remove mini fairing & panniers). Just look at local used prices here in Western Australia, second hand Sport Glides are not much more expensive than a Slim or Street Bob or Low Rider 107. The Sport Glide is excellent value as a used bike due to the panniers, cruise control and rear suspension adjuster (no tools needed). A good stage 2 upgrade on a 107 would be awesome bang for buck, and what Gixxerfoo says about a 107 with stage 2 versus a stock 114 would leave money in your hip pocket (might help with the purchase of tires, which will get used more). So, do I feel left behind with my stage one 103 Twin Cam you may ask? Sort of, but again it's the last of the air cooled engines, it's got the cool factor, it makes a nice daily driver without giving it the garage queen TLC and it's a modern day classic 'messenger bike' ... I ride mine when I visit clients (luckily I don't need to transport big bulky items), so I get my recreation during my working hours. It's just one of the perks of the job to be able to ride your pride & joy during my daily work agenda. The Slim isn't perfect (OEM seat and aftermarket seats don't suit me, so a $30 air cushion from eBay helps a lot, even though it's not cool looking). The bike I really like the look of and that's the re-issued Electra Glide that pays homage to the 1969 model. And I love the Road King Special when it came out in Deadwood Green. Trying to decide on that elusive choice of "shall I get this particular bike now or wait for something better" can be a bit tough. I can't believe HD discontinued the Deluxe though. Crazy. Ride safe Dan! :)
My 2018 Fat Bob is a 107. Just a ventilator air cleaner and S@S grand national cans. I'm close to doing a cam chest and cam. The Star racing 30/30 cam and Woods XE are the contenders. Any preference on tappets?
S&S or Fuel Moto. Get the OEMs out the sooner the better. The rollers are soft and will begin to gall up on the cam lobes. With the Fuel Moto adjustable pushrods you can use the OEM tubes. S&S adjustable pushrods need their new tubes.
In california CARB has only authorized the stage 2 or the cam nothing else.So I whent ahead and did the screaming eagle torque cam on my 107 about 1800$ later 6 gear feels more 5th gear.loads of passing power and it lowered the tone on my stock exsoust.it sounds good.most importantly I kept my warenty
Love these videos. Harley cannot have an engine easily upgraded for a little bit of money. That goes against their ethos of selling a bike with a tool kit and a parts upgrade manual. It is a good model that has worked for them for a hundred years with the exception of the years just prior to AMF bailout. When you, the biker, can go to the aftermarket and build a better Harley than Harley that is telling. Thanks again for a really informative video.
So many guys buy for the biggest, fastest bragging rights motor but that has never appealed to me, when i ride my Harley's im not racing, i just like to cruise. Currently I have 3 Harley's 2021 Street Glide with the 107" true stage 1 done with Cobra headers, Cobra exhaust, Screamin Eagle intake and a tune. I have the stage 2 parts ready just waiting for my appointment to get it in 2014 Dyna Wide Glide with the 103" full stage 1 with tune 2009 Rocker C with the 96" full stage 1 with tune.
Hey bro I'm planing to get SnS 124" big bore kit for my 2006 dyna street bob what you think? And probably get SnS 585 cam to go with it do you think that will be good idea?
I do have a quick question for you. I know you showed the numbers with the Andrew’s cam, have you seen any numbers with the S&S 475 in a 107 ??? A lot of people on the Internet are touting that cam. I’ve only seen numbers in a 114 so I’d be curious to compare the Andrews vs the S & S in a 107.
I did a stage 3 107 to 114 on my Sport Glide within 1000 miles of when I purchased it. It is basically a short stroke 114. Then all the 121 and up engine kits and crate engines came out but I still love the quick more gas efficient configuration I have :)
@@xlrider1565 no because he saying he started off with the 107 and “punched, bored” out to a 107 so the crank would still be a 107 short crank… he would have a different compression ratio displacement is the independent variable the bottom is or stock block is what’s different slightly from factory like a few hundred thousands of an inch
MY 2019 flhx i bought last fall has 2200 miles.and this is what im doing now.465 s&s cam and oil pump plus bearing.also had to replace the plastic intake manifold with s&s .50.exhaust v&h Daytona 400 exhaust. exhaust manifold stock no cat ? someone must have stole it.
Hey, thanks for your great lessons. I have 2022 heritage, & trying to choose a cam for it. Do you think feuling 521 is good choice? Do I need to port the heads. & add competition & high lift valve spring? Thanks Hami
Im looking at a used 2021 bike with the 107 and less than 1k miles. My ridingis all highway. Should i be concerned about the oil pump and swap it immediately?
Love all your vids totally agree with this one here if for some reason I had to buy a new bike id buy the base street glide or road glide and with that 5 or 6k i save can do a nice 2 into 1 air cleaner tune front and rear suspension and still probably be cheaper than the special models Maybe for next weeks vid do a gear driven cam vid for the twin cams and what it entails im perfectly happy with my 2016 103 HO stage 1 but maybe when i hit 30k miles in a year or two would definitely look into gear driven cam swap
with the woods cam and oil pump cam plate upgrade ,will that rquire more bottom end work to handle the extra torque and hp?? i have a 107 electra glide standard
You'll be fine with a bolt in cam, those bottom ends aren't going to get any better or worse as they are from the factory. A bolt in Wood cam is Stage 4 Screamin Eagle kit power at half the cost basically.
Hi Gixxer, Could you please do a video on how to break in a new big bore kit. The instructions I got from S&S and my mechanic are really confusing. Can you advice something simple to follow. Thanks.
Have a 21 street glide with the 107, stock, plenty of power, rode the 114, I didn’t notice much difference, might do a stage 1, but not right now. Does anyone make a quiet slip on?
How does that work? My 2002 88 can barely cruise at 65 and is rough as hell. 70 would be pushing it and I can’t imagine 80. It would be frightening, let alone a death trap given how often it breaks down. Can’t imagine 90 , and for hours on end and smooth as silk? It’s like HD made the perfect bike and then made a disaster with the 88 twin cam…..
@@ledsled1001 you’re right, rubber mounted it is. A Dyna low rider. 16,000 miles on it and it’s rough as hell. Bought it with 14,000 on it and have spent $8k just getting through all the issues. My first and last Harley.
@@shizuokaBLUES man I rode my 2000 88” superglide from PA to florida. Cruising at like 80-90 most of the way. Thing did great. The only thing I had to do to the engine was the chain tensioners. I put a cam plate and cams in while I did it. It feels spunkier than a stock 96” now. 57000 miles on it now as well
100% on the cams. I wouldn't waste my money on mods unless going stage 2 or above with a proper tune as the cam will compensate for the needed backpressure this engine likes. Most guys with a stage 1 are lying to themselves with the numbers as they don't have the bikes tuned right.
I’ve got a 22 rowing with the 107 I change the breather and everything I went to stage one little better than I went to stage two I felt a huge increase and then just last month I came back from stage three I should’ve went stage four, but I went stage three and said, and now the bike feels, and it has the power that I’m looking for
@@GixxerFoo I think I'm the only one on the planet that like the stock bars except for maybe that guy at Harley that picked them out. Perfect riding position for me.
Just happen to need a 114? I have two of them I'd like to get rid off. Tried the 131 and right now it's the Bee's knees for me. (Put in crate motors). Cost prohibitive perhaps, but as mentioned, the butt dyno doesn't lie
higher comp. means you cant run pump piss what do you do in colorado with 85 octaine ?high altitude burns as well as midgrade at sea lever is it enough?
I am always of the mind you want to run the highest octane possible in any motorcycle or small engine. I actually carry small packets of octane booster in my saddle bags for the small town that only have regular.
Im looking for a self learning tunner for my 2017 107..help..I guess I'm going with the fi 2000..I've used it before..but could find it now because it was sold from cobra before but isn't now. FI 2000
@GixxerFoo Great video!! It comes at a perfect time. I need your advice I own a 2017 Road Glide Ultra with the 107, with a stage one done by the dealer My extended warranty expires this September. Been intrigued by putting in a torque cam. I know the pro street tuner is not as good as aftermarket but didn’t want to jeopardize my warranty initially. Now I have close to 40,000. Miles. I plan on keeping the motorcycle because I think on 2023 models there are going to be more demand than supply so that means no good deals. I owe nothing on my 2017 and have not had a once of problems. It runs like a top. Thing is I’m planning on buying another two years of warranty but if I do it, the aftermarket parts( which I feel is superior to screaming eagle parts) will void the warranty.. I value your opinion what would you suggest. Or what would you do if you were in this situation
Would you go for a 107 engine or spend the extra on 114 with the longer stroke crank?
I would do the shorter stroke 107 because of the power delivery. I would upgrade the engine to a gear drive cam(new cams too) and the oil pump upgrade, must have maximum oil delivery and then.....Might as well put a supercharger on it...and never put Harley Davidson oil in it. LOL! It seems like all of the problems with the M8 happen above 107?
107 is a tried and true engine.
@Just J yeah I remember but gixxer is talking about the late model 107’s. I have a 2021 RK 107 and the engine is on point no issues

2018 heritage 107 s&s 475 cam power vision tune. Dynoed at 115 hp 120 torque. A 107 built right rips!!!!
I have a stock 107 with the exception of a TAB slip on muffler. I'm very happy with it. Runs strong with my wife on the back. Easily capable of getting speeding tickets in short order. If I was looking for a fast bike, I would have bought a 'Busa.
Same here …..
Stock 107 with TAB Zombies…..plenty of power & sound !!
How is the Tab performance slip ons exhaust on the bike?
@gary rhode Sounds great, hasn't changed performance that much.
I want a 100k mile bike.
You will still want fast....if youve ever had one that is...
If you think other motorcycle manufacturers stick with the same displacement indefinitely, you are kidding yourself.
I had a new 61” Knucklehead back in ‘36 then the MoCo came out with a 74” in ‘42, it never ends🤣
@Motorcycle.guy.69 how old are you?
My grandmother was born in '36. She's 87. You're a champ if you're still riding. Many props
Took everything out of the cam chest and installed a S&S 465G
Cam chest kit, PV tuner, fulsac headers and pulling 105 hp and
112 fp tork……you are absolutely right! Love the motor!
Also put external breather on it and
The bike seemed like it came to life
I tried external breather on my 107 but with 465rs it pinged and dumped, finally gave up and traded it in,.
Thanks for the info! It really is splitting hairs, dyno numbers are one thing but on the street is what really matters.
Only advice is use good reputable proven aftermarket parts and tune. great motor to build the way you want it
*you smoke stock 114's. In no world is a stage 2 107 "smoking" a stage 2 114.
Dude never said he smoked stage 2 114’s ! Read the comment again my dude
Both those engines are very close, the 114 will have a bit of an edge but that's subjective to the individual about how it feels versus numbers.
A lot of people want the upgraded color options that only come with the 114 as well. great video, I completely agree with everything you said sir
It makes great power when punched out to a 128, I’ve seen 130hp/148 Tq with this CID and proper intake & exhaust.

61 CID EL or 74 CID FL ,for me 61 inch winds up faster and easer to start
It’s two tone Silver Fortune Metallic /
Sumatra Brown Metallic

I’m good with my twin cam 88 softail pulls me right along just fine 😝🤙🇺🇸
There ain't nothing wrong with the 88's, those are still some very stout engines!
Happy with my 107
I love my 107 in a Softail. So far just a stage 1 and a FP3 I’m at 81HP and 108 torque. Doing a S&S 465 this winter and hoping to get to the 83-85 HP, 112-115 ftlb

I just got some tab 4.5 bam sticks my question is are header pipes worth the expense do they make enough difference than stock
My 21 Road King has the 107. I love it!
I really felt that fuel economy loss on my Sturgis trip this year😅
Best engine the MOCO ever made in my opinion. I have a new CVO with the 117 and liked my 2017 107 better.
what year did they change the Fatbob from Dyna to Softail, 2017?
Not currently in the market for a bike but you sold me on the Electra Glide Standard with a Stage II.
Had a 107 slim loved it
Just finished my M8 107 Build with the guys at Moonshine Harley here in Franklin, TN .

I took it to stage one with the new breather and the tuning did a great job for a little bit that I went to stage two the cam was great, but I felt that I could still do a little better so I did spend the extra money went to stage three I should’ve just went to stage four altogether cause I think I paid more money doing it individually then I would’ve done it just going straight to stage four but it’s stage three the sound is there the speed is there the torque is there everything’s there and I didn’t compromise my gas mileage
question what should a 107 with a 128 stage 4 put out on power ? vs 1 114 with a 128 stage 4 kit
Got the 107 with torque cam and power vision tuner 103 to back wheel 120 torque
little late to the party here, but I have a 2020 FXBB street bob, I did a stage one so far.
@@barrybarnes96 really like the slim for its plain classic look and the price was was right. The slim will be a long term keeper for me.

2014 Dyna Wide Glide with the 103" full stage 1 with tune
2009 Rocker C with the 96" full stage 1 with tune.
How do you arrive at the short stroke 114 cu. in. configuration.
The shorter stroke part intrigues me!
@@xlrider1565because it’s still a 107 crank with a shorter stroke
@finestoffreedom3170
Ok, so wouldn't that decrease the displacement?
@@xlrider1565 no because he saying he started off with the 107 and “punched, bored” out to a 107 so the crank would still be a 107 short crank… he would have a different compression ratio displacement is the independent variable the bottom is or stock block is what’s different slightly from factory like a few hundred thousands of an inch
@@xlrider1565 bored out to a 114 he was a stock 107 he increased displacement by 7 cubic inches
Thanks
Hami
I have the woods WM8-22X-E in my 2020 ultra making 115hp and 128 lbs of torque
Im looking at a used 2021 bike with the 107 and less than 1k miles. My ridingis all highway. Should i be concerned about the oil pump and swap it immediately?
I have a 2020 m8 107 softail original pump. Warranty just ran out and I have 43k miles on my bike. It's my work horse I use everyday.
That rain sock, is that a Screaming Eagle?
with the woods cam and oil pump cam plate upgrade ,will that rquire more bottom end work to handle the extra torque and hp?? i have a 107 electra glide standard
You'll be fine with a bolt in cam, those bottom ends aren't going to get any better or worse as they are from the factory. A bolt in Wood cam is Stage 4 Screamin Eagle kit power at half the cost basically.
How does the woods cam compare to the s&s 468/475?
Have you seen 4-valve heads for the twin cams? Looks like they exist, wonder about performance
Stage II, for 107 with S&S .475c Cam, oil pump and cam plate. It makes 107 RWHP and 104 ft/lbs of tq. I'ma try out that Woods cam you recommended!
Good observation. I haven't really thought about it but that's a good point.
Hi Gixxer,
Could you please do a video on how to break in a new big bore kit.
An evolution powered big twin from the '90s can cruise down the highway at 90 miles an hour smooth as silk all day what more do you need?
How does that work? My 2002 88 can barely cruise at 65 and is rough as hell. 70 would be pushing it and I can’t imagine 80. It would be frightening, let alone a death trap given how often it breaks down.
Can’t imagine 90 , and for hours on end and smooth as silk? It’s like HD made the perfect bike and then made a disaster with the 88 twin cam…..
@@shizuokaBLUES my 2002 softail springer loves to cruise 75-80. Smooth. Not sure if your running a B motor (softail) or the rubber mounted.
My 88 in my '06 Night Train is an amazingly awesome bike at 80+ on trips. Smooth, and incredibly reliable.
57000 miles on it now as well
Don’t buy a 114, get the 107, then pay FuelMoto to make it a 128 (with cams, etc). You’ll spend less money and get a ton more out of it.
100% on the cams. I wouldn't waste my money on mods unless going stage 2 or above with a proper tune as the cam will compensate for the needed backpressure this engine likes. Most guys with a stage 1 are lying to themselves with the numbers as they don't have the bikes tuned right.
Is a 2022 standard soft tail worth buying, riding a 1200 at present.
I’ve got a 22 rowing with the 107 I change the breather and everything I went to stage one little better than I went to stage two I felt a huge increase and then just last month I came back from stage three I should’ve went stage four, but I went stage three and said, and now the bike feels, and it has the power that I’m looking for
I have a 2019 Low Rider bone stock 107 love it!
I like the newer Softail Low Rider, wasn't too crazy about the stock bars. I wish they would of kept those easy adjusting bars from the Dyna version
I have a 107 stage 1 with V&H headers, heavy breather & FP3 tuner. If i upgrade with oil pump woods cam etc should i leave the FP3 tuner in??
Im looking for a self learning tunner for my 2017 107..help..I guess I'm going with the fi 2000..I've used it before..but could find it now because it was sold from cobra before but isn't now.
FI 2000
What are all the differences between the street glides v street glide specials other than the 107/114
@GixxerFoo Great video!!
Any thoughts on 107 tri glide
My 2020 m8 107 softail with a stage 2 has 43k miles no issues
I just bought a slim 107 and got a killer deal. And its brand new 21 model year
What cam should I use on the 107 to give it more hp and torque so I don’t have to get the 124
I would go with the Wood W822XE, really hard to beat one of those cams. They will get you between 110 and 120 horse and torque with the 107.
