Zagreus tells Thanatos he's staying [ThanZag]

I also really liked this moment where Thanatos finds out that Zagreus will be staying for good (this includes spoilers so watch at your own risk), especially considering how hurt he was that Zag decided to leave.
(once again, Hades the game and these characters belong to Supergiant)

when mortals peacefully die, Thanatos just fetches the soul briefly.
So him saying he won't be able to take it up there means he intends to go out there and actively follow Zagreus around to check on him.

In the first few interactions with thanatos, you could tell he wants to support zag bc he cares and wants zag to be happy but at the same time he's also trying to very subtly dissuade him from leaving (in earlier conversations, even after he helps zag he kind of berates zag by saying "Oh see look at you, you're so winded and you could barely even handle fighting here, you think you could survive at the top?", it's both him trying to push him to do better but at the same time also discouraging him, however zag takes it is up to him), altho ultimately his desire to help zag overpowers him wanting him to stay. It's p obvious he doesn't like the idea of separating from zag bc i think his first conversation with him went like "Youre leaving and you never told me?" and he just sounded beyond hurt. The interactions between these two got me so hooked bc there's so much to analyze

a) i started recording after the fight so it could've been after i accepted the heart, I don't remember, I was only recording for dialogue
b) this encounter happened in Elysium and due to the high healths of the opponents there it's relatively difficult to kill them before Thanatos does his 9999 damage. I'm plenty alright at the game (like, I've beat the final boss on run 8 of a new save recently, which I think is relatively good for a casual player who isn't actively trying to be the best ever, & i have all steam achievements), so, yeah, i think you can be solidly good and still lose to Thanatos occasionally, especially in Elysium, if you just happen to not have good combinations or a weapon you like
