I'm an oil tech and work next to very reputable mechanics, I work on my vehicles myself, and you're right granted I know very trustworthy mechanics there are a lot that will try to get over on you, always look up reviews on the shop, and always do a slight bit of research online about your problem before just going in and saying "idk what's wrong can you help me"

Omg thank you so much!! I knew it! I was raised by my dad after my mom left since i was 2. But im so glad i found this vedio, because although i know my sounds...my husband is a person who has never got his hands dirty and probably will never. Im the one full of oil and dirt right now. Keep up the good work. You did great with the sounds! Im gana go clean all the stuff around my battery plugs and try it. If not ill jump it and go get a new one!! Please keep making vedios. Im not gana lie, i thought it might be my starter. But the windows nothing was working except the headlights but just for a bit.

Thanks Brandon sorry to hear man. I'm sure it's your battery if it just happened overnight. Get a small jumpstarter for your car. They have them for $70 that fit in your glove box. Lithium batteries have changed alot making jumpstarters much smaller.

Another tip: Check your Battery cables on the battery. I was driving down the road and my car electricals (ALL) shut off. Reason: my positive cable was not tight to the battery. Tightened up the positive and ran fine.

I'm home now and I'll tell you what, I'm a single woman who his very capable, independent, and resourceful. I believe that women can and should receive mechanical training. But honestly, for me, one of the greatest joys is having a capable man who, or along side who, these things can be done. I look forward to that. At any rate, God helped me 100% and my dad provided some assistance. From your video, I was able to determine that it was likely the alternator. And it was. Lesson learned. What doesn't kill ya, makes you stronger, at least I keep telling myself that. Please keep posting. There are a lot of situations out there like mine.

Best video explanation! I was afraid it’s my alternator but the way you described it that’s not it at all but my battery! Every 3 days I got to get a jump start. It will try to turn on the first push with push start, it makes a noise, lights turn on but dim then nothing the next few tries. Soon as I get a jump my Nissan good for 3 days! Plus a lot of post say batteries last 5 to 10 years and I was mad at that due to my battery is only between 2-3 yrs old so I’m also glade you said battery like are between that time 2-3! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

That 5th scenario described my experience real well. Going down the interstate and car just shut off but recently was having problems with power. Im not thinking its my alternator but definitely am considering that

Same thing as described happened to me only difference was I was in a parking lot and lost power steering. I stopped and tried to turn it off and on and it wouldn’t even turn over. Ended up being the alt was bad

That's really smart, about going to an auto store before you consider a mechanic. I'm going to remember that. I've been swindled by two different mechanics because I didn't know enough at the time. That's not going to happen at AutoZone. Great advice.
LOL I still keep getting comments from people who are like how can you take your car to the auto parts store that you can take a bus or have a friend take you but yes most AutoZone do hire people that have knowledge of cars some other stores do not it can vary though
I drove my 1999 Accord sedan to look at a 1999 Accord coupe that died 6 months ago and all that the owner did was post it on Facebook a week ago and respond to 20% of my messages.
With the good battery from my car, nothing happened when I turned the key. We tried to track down the grounds and stuff, but that was already more effort that I wanted to put into someone else's car.

5th scenario could also be a bad PCM. My Durango would die while being driven and no one could figure out what it was. Turns out it was a bad PCM and wiring going to it also had to be replaced at a Dodge Dealer. Great video...

If your driving down the road and your car shuts down and you notice that your temperature is high or maxed out it could be your thermostat as well. If you don't want to spend the money on a tow then you wait for your car to cool down and you can restart it and drive it a bit more until the temp starts to get high again. Don't let it overheat while driving but it can get you down the road at least. Change the thermostat and you should be all good. If your RPMs go up and down intermittently and sometimes your car shuts down that could be either your camshaft or crankshaft sensor. You would possibly have a code that autozone or advance auto parts or somewhere would be able to read it and let you know what the code means and you can go from there.

I have a 2006 300c 5.7 hemi and mine would shut-off while I'm driving and the battery light would pop on !
I would get a boost then it starts and before I get a block over shuts off again!!
Then it completely stop turning on for the rest of the day !
I have a feeling it's my alternator I will soon give a update when fixed!!

I had the "tick, tick, tick" sound going on...I tested my battery and it was giving me 12.4 vdc. After watching your video I put a charger on it & it cranked right up. Is it possible that the battery could give me 12+ vdc but not enough cranking amps to start? Many thanks...Ian
