    Modesty is a good trait to have my brother. Having experience and showing people how to do it for free is the sign of a good person. Thank you.

    40 years and still humble enough to say he is still learning his art. I hear those words from all the best trades people. You know he loves his craft when he wishes to teach what he learned to a next generation.

    Thank you for taking the time to record in English. I have followed the Meca Upholstery channel for some time and watching is very helpful, but sometimes explanation is what makes all the difference. It used to be we all learned this from one person who passed it on directly. In a career an upholstery pro might train or teach a dozen people during their career. Now with videos like this, the number is infinite and will be a great legacy and great service to the trade.

    Ive been doing upolstery for 20+ years, and I still live watching others, just to see how they do the same thing. Glad to see I'm doing something correct 😂

    I watched 3 other videos on rebuilding foam seats before watching yours. The first one I decided I could get my 4 yr old grandson to do what he did. The 2nd I realized I already had the ability to work at his level (I have some experience with boat upholstery) The third person I started learning from. Half way through your video I said to my wife, “this is a real craftsman who is showing you what 30 years of skill building and a commitment to quality can do for your end results.. very impressive, thank you!

    I like your work. When I did upholstery I rarely used the foam knife.
    I glued the foam in place and then sculpted it with a 2 1/2” 40 grit sander belt.
    It was like magic.
    Just a little bit of powdered foam ended up on the floor.
    Even repairing raccoon damage was easy.

    An auto body cheese grater works great as an alternative for grinding foam. It doesn’t make as much of a mess and works fast.

    Thank you for placing the video in English.. It is only burlap covering the springs? I do not understand how the staples hold the bottom foam to the burlap? Did you place some other material between the burlap and springs for the staple to hold too? Much Thanks for all your videos!

    • @deankay4434
      @deankay4434 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just bought an air saw and had plans to cut metal with short blade 32 teeth per inch. Now, you show up to this party with a “Saws-All” blade in it!
      Wow! I will check to see how it attaches with a set screw or spring loaded pin. As asked, those of use would like to learn. DK, ASE master tech, 78
      Retired but doing my own covers, but it starts with the foam base, bolsters on sides to achieve the shape and feel.
      This one has my butt in it! LoL

Can you tell me what you used for the layer before you put the foam in this video? Is it jute and burlap? Thank you again. I would pay to come to you for lessons!

    Where'd you get your poster supplies from for example and two plastic clips thst replace hig rings..that GM uses now in their seats also plastic j tabs

    • @deankay4434
      @deankay4434 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have seen for sale at certain upholstery supply shops but don’t for a local fastener supply that Carrie’s nuts & bolts. One in our City carries the plastic “J” strips GM uses. I do have one problem even though you can re-use them, but over time they open up! Then when sitting on, become loose and un-clip. I do like them but you can’t beat a strong fabric with listing wire. Just cover sharp metal edges with split fuel line glued. Pull material over it and use hog rings in holes drilled in to frame by you. I’ve had a MIG since 84, then use round bar stock in such a fashion it can’t bend. I am normally picky, but this set of truck bucket seats are mine, covered in leather!
      Best of luck but the J-Channel is sold if you want to use it. Just remember, heat & time makes it open up & become loose. It is great new, but 10-13 years, falls off metal edge of seat. It use coated fiberglass used in “Stucco” as 10” wide on 50’ rolls & heavy for $12.
