Just got him after missing him the first two times. Having my Ganyu go from being 1-shot by the Maguu Kenki to being able to sit there and tank the phase transition without moving is pretty nice ngl.

This is why I told people that Zhongli is a higher priority...if you want to run Melt Ganyu you almost need him. Diona can kinda work but you need a few refinments on sac bow and you have to time things just right.

Diona dont even need r5 sac bow, r1 is enough since he have many projectiles i already have c6 diona so i still prefer c6 diona bennet xiangling in melt ganyu, for dual pyro and cryo resonance, plus bonus elemental mastery on c6 diona at the same time healing plus 2x shield diona with sac bow unli burst . In melt dioan provides more support so better use diona instead in melt comps, but i'm using zhong with xiao duo anemo&geo for more damage plus xiao need more 100% uptime healing/shielding like zhongli and barbara outfield healing/ shielding
@@techzoneyt3167 I agree with this, I also have C6 Diona and recently got Zhongli, now I use Diona with Ganyu, Bennett and Xiangling as a shielder and for her EM buff which makes my melts nuclear, and I use Zhongli with my Hu Tao vape team. Both Zhongli and Diona are super flexible, they just provide slightly different types of support
You're so luck 43wish here but zhongli didn't come home yet.
I think it's ironic that the two polearm shielders have the best normal attack animations in the game.

Xiao has a significantly better attack animation than thoma, Zhongli is debatable.

One thing that a lot of people tend to forget is that C6 works with C2's effect in coop, allowing teammates to also get healed by the shield.

@@Amynity You don't actually NEED c6 to have a perfectly functional Zhongli. ;) He's one of the few 5* units that is actually f2p friendly, just follow the Black tassel build that allows you to have a super beefy shield with a fairly low investment. Or go for physical build. ;)
He is unexpectedly useful in the double dragon boss, destroying the structures with his skills
You don’t actually need to destroy the pillar, just focus the blue one first
Haven't tried that route yet. Also, in the video, he only put the steel beside the Geo structure, but you deal faster damage to it if it was plotted directly

I use him as a full support character with over 55k HP and lvl10 talent, my dude can take anything you throw at it.

the way you present information is always super helpful to me so a longer video like this covering a character who it feels like im always changing builds on is really helpful! please make more like this
After getting ganyu I’ve slowly come to the realisation how much she really needs zhongli. It’s really hard to play melt ganyu even with diona, her shield isn’t strong enough and doesn’t last long enough at all, so I might have to whale for him as well on a 5050
Update - I won the 5050 at last and got zhongli a few days after writing this. god he’s so worth having just for ganyu haha
I also was tried melt Ganyu with Diona, and I had the same problems. Zhongli really does make the difference for melt Ganyu
You need to get closer to the enemy for melt Ganyu to work, so yes, Zhongli is pretty vital for that team.
Without him, try sticking to freeze Ganyu.
Yeah I was about to pull for Ganyu but then I realised that in order to pair her with my Xiangling and bennett Zhongli was pretty necessary. Plus I don’t have Mona/Kokomi or Venti so I thought I might as well get Zhongli for my Hu Tao team and wait for Ayaka’s rerun or Kazuha’s.

@@jokesonu3412 no. No amount of skill will change the fact that if an enemy attack is coming, you have to dodge, which will ruin your dps. Ganyu needs a shield if you want to max her dps.

I love Zhongli so much. Easily my Top 3 most used characters since his release. I personally, have every Geo character built and ready and he just helps EVERYONE
I'll need to get Millelith sets for him though. Never find it too resin efficient since I don't use any Phys Dps characters for the other set, but now that I've got everyone else built, I can go for his set finally.
On an unrelated note, I just wanted to note that you have one of the most accurate pronunciations of the Chinese names I have seen on TH-cam! The way you say Zhongli's name, and that Liyue was 14:43 was such a joy to hear after all the weird ways I've heard it pronounced (understandably, these aren't easy for non-Chinese speakers). Thank you!

I love the showcase, even if I know the builds by heart it’s always nice to refresh them and possibly learn something new. Tho I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned Vortex Vanquisher anywhere in the video. I know this weapon is a little lackluster but I wished to see the comparison between it and the rest. 😔

Just an FYI for C0 Zhongli players. If the pillar is already placed, holding the skill DOES NOT move the pillar to a new location. You'll need to tap his E skill if you wanna move it.

Exactly, and its such a pain in the ass. They shouldve made it to cast the pillar again even at c0
Theres still some time to recast shield after recasting the pillar. But yea, it can possibly leave a small time without shield if late
I settled on TOM with HP sands and Crit helm. Have enough decent pieces to get 70/220 with homa. Even at 36k hp the shields will last long enough if you dont forget to and dash the bigger attacks from thins like Kenki. Combo of damge and utility makes it so I dont ever have to switch out gear. This build does everything. Used shield bot for a while but its nice seeing 100k meatballs from a support build.

recently got Zhongli (3rd time's the charm) level'd him to 90 immediatly, that same hour. Although i haven't gotten much good artifacts beforehand i now know what to utilize

I got Zhong Li on this banner first day, omg he makes this game easy mode supporting my main Eula and Itto teams. On 29hp level 70 artifact not maxed it’s already has ridiculous strong shield

I got Itto during his banner, but had no Zhongli for him, making Itto more glass than cannon. This banner.... wow, did I get lucky. Got both Zhongli and the cocogoat. Thanks to Zhongli, I'm now able to replace Noelle (God bless her for carrying me to AR 47) with a decent dps... that being Itto (C1). Zhongli makes playing Itto a lot of fun. I also got Gorou during Itto's banner, so I'm running Gorou, Barbara, Itto and Zhongli. It's a newbee's dream team!
I put Ocean Hued Clam on Barb, so in corrosion circumstances, healing up the team with her Q results in some bubble popping fun... a real nice dps adder.
I'd love to see an IWTL video on the OHC set, covering what stats are best on what healers, etc. Barb is pretty easy to setup with the Clam since she just flat out scales on HP, but there are some additional nuances if you want to use her for dps, etc.
But back on topic... thanks to your earlier Zhongli video, my Zhongli is setup as a straight shield bot, and is doing a fantastic job of keeping Itto vertical. I'll be sure to put your updated guide to work to put the finishing touches on him.
In my experience, itto generates his own shields fast enough that I don't need to run zhongli with him unless I'm fighting azhbaka or any other world boss besides childe.
@@Gamfluent Yup! I'm saving primos for Kokomi's re-run next patch, and am anxiously awaiting Albedo's next run. I have replaced Barb with Bennett (finally), so at least I get a bit of double buffing with Gorou and Bennett... although, of course, I'd much prefer Albedo.

cannot explain how helpful this was! my zhongli had random artifacts but now ive given him all hp artifacts (since i use him as a shield bot basically) and his shield which was already strong became wayy stronger! gonna start farming tenacity of the millelith for him

This might sound kinda stupid, but zhongli can utilize a 4* artifact called "the instructor " It lets him boost his teammates EM by 120 after shielding (though you need to apply an element first). Though it sacrifices a lot of his HP, but hey at least it's an option!

Have to mention that c2 refreshes also his own shield. That means that you can cast your shield once again with Ultimate even if your elemental skill is still on cd. So technically you have 2 shields. And this is more useful mostly for a sub-dps Zhongli for spamming comets and not getting worry that shield is not that thick.

i run a hybrid build for my zhongli cuz I think going on far side of each spectrum is a waste of the other, so I run a 4 piece tenacity with both crit focus and he protecc AND attacc
lost him on his first 2 banners but got him this time and got lucky with c2 in just 2 multi pulls back to back and I'm very happy with his performance
Really nice informative video, it would be nice if you also covered the vortex vanquisher as it is on the weapon banner with him as of now. It should be nice to see it compared to other weapons for sub DPS build
i love zhongli. mines c5 atm with deathmatch, still doing decent damage however when staff of homa reruns i’ll be sure to get it for him.
The only electro and cryo characters i have raised up are Aether and Chongyun, so i decided to add Kazuha to make cryo swirls off of Chongyun's burst, which makes activating superconduct a little easier
definitely gonna get him. not on thia banner ofc bc I'm poor, but definitely on his 3rd rerun. his compatability with yunjin has fully made me want him, since I only saw him as a glorified meat shield before. also I have every other geo character so I might as well get them all

I prefer to use emblem set since 2.2, my Zhongli still can hit 65k of burst damage with Favonia Lance (over 100k when switch Homa Staff). If I use 3 Geo team (Gorou C6) + Bennett, he can hit 180-260k of burst damage. (Number will be higher if got field's buff)

I switched to the Emblems set after it came out and loved it. With buff, the meteor does 130-200K, and the uptime is almost 100% for the Q.
What buffs you using?
@@itsSmiv Bennett and Ning would boost to around 110-130. In Abyss, sometimes it gives you a few extra buffs that would push it to 180. That's the highest number I saw. C0, R1 Homa, crowned Q, crit 60/178, and 196ER. If you don't have Homa then the Catch isn't too bad either, the number is fairly close to full health Homa.

Yunjin’ s boost is way more important than superconduct. For Physical build, Yunjin is not a flex, it is a must.

I won my 50/50 and got him. Still working on farming stuff for him, but I plan on doing sub DPS build ony itto team when I'm done. Can't wait for him to be fully built.
joined genshin at 1.4 venti rerun, lost 50/50 to keqing on zhongli first rerun, finally got him three days ago by using my guaranteed to complete my archon collection then 5 wish later ganyu also come home, i've never been so happy 🥰

I also have several builds and weapons for him as he is my main, but my faves have got to be his burst nuke and DPS! It's worth looking into his charged attack bec I can actually get up to around 25k charged with just Benny (and up to 17k with no buffs at all). I once tried slapping full buffs on him (Yun Jin, Mona, and Xin Yan with Fischl specialty food at VV domain) and he did up to 26k normal atk and 65k charged lmao. Very satisfying.
Very jealous of that 901k burst dmg at Deceitful Domain though omg the best I was able to do at that time at C3 was around 460k 😅 I still have a long way to go

I got Zhongli with the current banner. I’m F2P(+ fairly new player ) and I have to say pulling Zhongli really changed the game for me. It has become so easy. Only a few days ago I was having problems adjusting to the difficulty level change when I got to AR 45.
That I was thinking of reducing the world level. Now, with him I am taking on level 90 enemies in domains to farm Artifacts. Earlier they would one shot me. Now I can do all the domain by myself without needing any co-op help.
I don’t care what people say. My personal experience says, that Zhongli is the most worth it 5 star if their ever was one. He can play just about any role without needing whale levels of investment.
I’ve been following advice to use to pyro characters(xiangling,amber) and one other geo character(noelle) for his team seems to be working well but I’m not sure how it hold in comparison to this main dps build you have here hopefully one day fichl will come home and I can try it
the table for the burst dmg per weapon is accurate bc math but I think people would remember that some weapons will perform better with different artifact substats. for example in my case my catch (r5) does a few% less damage than my blackcliff (0 stacks).I already have >140% er without the catch so the returns from the catch er are less than the dmg i get from a blackcliff crit
got zhongli my 2nd wish at 0 pity, was initially upset since i lost my guranteed raiden, but now im loving him
Zhongli is the ultimate husbando. He's so self-sufficient, very useful even when farming his own lvl up materials. Btw I'm a mobile player so a great shield is priceless when it's a gamble if I'll dash or jump when I try to dodge. :D
He's coming back in 3.0, 4th rerun, and with Ganyu again! I wouldn't wait so I am watching videos of this.

Thank god I'm seeing this. I spent like about a week or 2 building zhongli with 2pc tenacity and 2pc noblesse (sick of noblesse domain so I use the artifact strongbox). I was kinda lucky to get up to 20k and I haven't lvled up my hp sands yet, so I hope I can get to 30k hp or at least close to it. I can't wait to fully build him and use him to his full potential. I end up using deathmatch for him because I don't really have the skyward polearm or....any of the 5* polearms lol and I'm saving the catch for Raiden.
Trying to build Zhongli the same exact way. Currently have him with an atk% timepiece but looking to swap that out with an hp% one to compare but rng is not on my side. Which one is better?
Edit: wait i think u are building burst support Zhongli? I'm still figuring out how I want to play him, but I really want to have him on the field more because I like his animations 😅

With talent level 9 my Zhongli has ~46k HP with favonius lance and ~53k HP with black tassel. I find favonious more useful because by the time you use meteor it's already recharged. I don't notice any difference with the shields between weapons although I suppose the black tassel is "stronger"
I am wondering if I should still get favonious. Since I have him with mono geo team, Gorou already provide more than enough particles. How much dmg do your meteor do with 46K hp?
@@SleepyAppl honestly I don't remember how much damage but it isn't a crazy amount. I'm running 4 piece tenacity with HP as main stat. I could try for better substat rolls but I'd rather save resources at this time. He performs well enough with suboptimal substats for shielding. He is C0 lvl 89/90 and talents are 2/9/6. I haven't invested more into his meteor because I'm using him as a shielder. I feel that getting bigger meteor damage requires a lot of investment like different weapons (Homa BiS) and different artifacts. IMO meteor is still relevant because of petrification but upgrading it only marginally increases the freeze time by literal hundredths of a second. One day I'll get him to 6/9/9 but not now. Hope this was helpful
Been a zhongli main since he came out and I now have 3 builds for him and a bonus one being cryo
His constellation 1 is very useful for not having to replace his pillar especially if enemies move around. You can just hold E to place. Holding E doesn't refresh your pillar uptime so you need to place a new one. With c1, you can basically always have one on the field to proc tenacity or something. I'm talking about only ever holding E and never tapping which can be a time waster without c1.
You also never talked about Deathmatch which us a great option for Zhongli. Lot more useful than ER tbh because Zhongli only has a 40 cost burst. Very easy to fill up before cooldown is over unless your team generates no particles. Don't really need any extra ER on Zhongli tbh. 110%-120% is good.
His energy recharge isn't meant for his own, it's to support the team
Also having a ER weapon really depends on your artifact substats
So there is no "better* weapon than the other as both provide different things.
If you lack Crit rate and DMG then go Deathmatch
If you lack ER then go favonius lance
If you want a balance of both then go The Catch
If you want stupid broken levels of dmg go for Homa lmao
@@Zero-zr6xx Energy recharge stat is only for you. The passive is for the team but you're trying to build your kit around the passive by having like 80% crit rate. It's a support build so that's actually a lot. Energy recharge is definitely too much for any Zhongli. It's a 40 cost burst. Unless you literally have a team made up of the worst particle generators in the game, Zhongli really has no use for anymore than 120% ER. ER doesn't help with damage or shield and he doesn't have any passive or talent that would benefit from having ER.
Zhongli is one of the best support to have when you have a main carry, the only teams he doesn't fit are the quick swap / skill and burst spam teams since generally you want everyone dealing a lot of damage and pricking reactions like national, freeze teams, etc ...
My quick swap burst spam team Bennett, Diluc, Kaeya and Zhongli begs to differ

I just got Mr best Daddy in Teyvat this Tuesday and I was wondering how to build him as a sub dps, and as expected, your videos are as helpful as usual. Unfortunately I don't have the Favonius lance, and I don't really which weapon to put on which character, between the catch R5, the Deathmatch R2 and the PJWS R1, for instance in a team that uses both Zhongli and Yunjin, or Zhongli and Raiden Shogun.
I'm also very interested in the cryo dps Zhongli you showcased during the first minute, and i was wondering what build do you use for your team, and is it viable with Shenhe C0?
The catch should always go to Raiden or Xiangling. Zhongli really shines with deathmatch in his sub dps build
@@dimitripollard7781 I usually use the dragonsbane r4 on Xiangling. And yeah ofc the catch on Raiden, but I'm not always necessarily playing her in the abyss recently
Raiden, Zhongli, Nahida are game changers. I will wait for Zhongli's order to pull for him in his next rerun
The grinding was worth it everyone I saved 21k since raider banner and with the luck of the Irish I was able to get both Ganyu and Zhongli and a stupid Mona constellation but now I’m happy
