Finally, someone who actually talk about her energy restoration capability and how good ER on her to sustain damage in most combat situations with EL. Not another nuke build who "suffer from success" by oneshoting enemies but unable to perform smooth rotation since it fails to fill her burst gauge for next rotation/waves. Thank you!
@@one-eyed_tempest yes, as long as you have decent amount of ER on her. Many CC think that 200% ER is more than enough for her. That's not how it works against single enemy that barely gives you any particles like world bosses, PMA or energy draining mobs in enkanomiya.

I'm trying to min maxing my build since i got EL by watching guides only to get frustrated by most CC who think that 200 ER is acceptable on "updated build". her damage source is basically when she use her burst. without smooth rotation, it's just dps lost. I'm just glad that iwtl, who actually know that F2P raiden shogun is good back then (despite the beidou drama) is also know how important ER stat on her.
Something interesting regarding the r5 Catch and Skyward Spine--the catch's burst percent boost, when multiplied with its base attack, actually goes up to about the same base attack as the Skyward Spine, so at base, the burst is doing the same damage. The Catch comes ahead slightly on the burst thanks to slightly higher ER, but the attack speed buff on Spine can also allow for some 2-hit normals before doing a charge attack, rather than 1 in your burst attack rotation, still getting the same number of charge attacks off. The Skyward Spine's crit and higher base attack also buffs up your E, which is something the Catch doesn't affect. Otherwise the two of them for all intents and purposes are incredibly similar in performance, I'd say even closer than the numbers predict. I personally moved my Catch to Xiangling and put one of my Spines on Raiden.
@@meechtree5795 Yeah, but just to avoid oversimplifying it: An R5 catch offers +32% burst damage (and 12% burst crit). 1.32 x 510 base attack = 673.2, but only for bursts. Meanwhile the Spine has 674 base attack and 8% crit (on everything). At base they're nearly identical. The extra tiny 4% more crit on the Catch, and slightly more ER makes for like a 1-2% improvement in burst damage over the Spine on both chars. If you have both, the big thing is Xiangling is almost entirely centered around her burst, while for Raiden to be honest it's definitely worth giving up that 1% edge to get benefits for your E and for your attack speed while in your burst. So while the Catch does outweigh Spine for xiangling, it's by an incredibly narrow margin, while the opposite is true for Raiden (due to her relying on more of her kit).
@@pfdcalanao I'm too lazy to do calculations, but Jade spear would be better used on another character besides Raiden. The passive benefits on field dps units, and in most team popular team comps for Raiden (Raiden + Eula or Raiden National), Raiden is swapped out after her skill or burst. Jade spear does have the benefit of high base attack (674 at lvl 90) and crit rate (22.1%), but the Catch at R5 (510 base atk and 45.9% ER at lvl 90, plus 32% increased burst dmg and 12% extra crit on burst) is overall a better option, unless you're running main dps Raiden 😊 Death match is another good option; it has a general passive and at lvl 90 it has 454 base atk and 36.8% crit rate.

id like to point out that any %dmg comparison between the catch and engulfing lightning heavily depends on your amount of ER bc of the engulfing lightnings passive, i.e the difference in dmg between a 200% ER raiden with a r5 catch and a r1 engulfing lightning is much lower than 27% (about 15-17%). Also for the catch users i believe the recommended ER caps at around 220% and attack sands is arguable the better choice given you have over 200% ER. Anyway great video as always!
No, recommended ER doesn't cap at anywhere, when I personally ran a lower ER build it just made her battery less effective, just enough to ruin rotations (national team or other teams vs the mechanical array, huge energy issues due to single target boss). Recommended ER caps at wherever you personally find her rotations comfortable to work with. 250 is still a good target. 300 ER is the soft cap for emblem set so you still have plenty of room before diminishing returns becomes an actual issue. It's just that on engulfing lightning you don't really face diminishing returns on ER anymore (up to 300).
@@Meverynoob Mb i didnt specify that 200% ER should be enough for her to battery herself (have her burst on cooldown). I have her on 223% and i have no energy issues in either hypercarry raiden comps nor national variations using her as a battery, keep in mind you cant neglect your other characters ER just bc u have raiden as a battery. According to KQM the difference in energy restoration during her burst goes from 20 energy at 200% ER to a potential 24 energy at 250% ER but ofc you should run enough ER on her to fulfill you personal needs, specially if you need to battery your team and not ruin your rotations
I was able to get C3 this time around, then with 40 wishes left I sniped engulfing lightning from the weapon banner. I have never been able to do so much damage so easily in the overworld. Just Bennett and Sara, and I get 300k, I'm so happy.

21:31 I really admire that about this channel, you don't believe what other content creators do and really finds the best in new characters. Like recently about Yae Miko it was really hard to find guide videos without the content creator calling her bad, but your vids you already respect the fact that she's not even crowned yet by most and I think calling her a unit same level as Xiao and still able to do off-field damage is a compliment.
Got my beloved eternal shogun from C2 (first run) to C3. With engulfing lightning and C6 Sara she has everything to be the goddess on my account. I love her dearly and your chart was so satisfying to watch.

@@aliceszanari9510 Yeah I know how you feel. I spent literally September to December farming that domain religiously for my raiden. It took a while but payed off on the end. Now my raiden is sitting at like, 59/144 CR/CD, 2.2k atk and 298 ER. I gotta work on my crit rate now that I don't have the boost from the Catch anymore but it's still pretty freaking solid.
Is there a reason why you didn't include Wavebreaker's Fin in the weapon section? I actually prefer it over The Catch since I'm able to get more consistent and higher damage from it. Both are also R5.
After 7 months of camping emblem, I’ve finalised a solid build for her. R5 Wavebreakers Fin, 70/144 Crit Ratio, 250 ER and with electro dmg goblet. She’s been helping me 36* star abyss since her release.
To this day she's the only limited 5 star I would spend all my hard earned primos for c2, best value imo, that is if you already have a good solid team and just looking to make your team stronger
@@Mephist2 Kazuha is definitely worth pulling but I would choose c2 Raiden than a c2 Kazuha, for me c0 Kazuha is already complete as he is, well I'm no expert just my opinion
@@chioreka True, base Kazuha is already great as is . But C2/3 Raiden is a different beast . Easily one of the if not the best investment if you wanna feel how a 5* character's ceiling's like.
Raiden is soo packed with utility and damage, making her the best and most versatile unit in the game, she is amazing. tbh she is the BEST unit in the game right now, she covers all biases, support/sub dps/ and main dps. if you dont have Raiden, get Raiden

Best banner I've rolled on so far honestly. I Got Raiden the first banner run and I got her c2 yesterday for 70 pulls. Edit: i used all my remaining primo gems and I don't regret it one bit.
I'd imagine Dendro on Hydro would do some sort of "dehydrate" effect that drains x amount of health. x being anything really I just think that'd be a cool concept
I think dendro+electro would be "paralyzed"/"shock" which will stagger enemies/ make them vulnerable and unable to move for a certain period of time. This is more of a utility reaction. If they make the reaction dmg based then I think the multipliers would be- electro + dendro = 1.5x dendro + electro = 2x
Yeah but electro would powercreept all elements if that happens since their scaling are high enough even without reactions. Except keqing since she is much more suitable for flashy playstyle instead of oneshotting bosses

Raiden/Eula/Rosaria(C6)/Kokomi. You can either go support Kokomi to boost Raiden/Eula with Thrilling Tales + Tenacity , or you can use offensive Kokomi with protoype amber + ocean hued clam and create 56k bubble bursts. Lots of 5* so it's not f2p friendly, but it's a very fun set up to play, especially since the team has no down time because someone's burst is always active.
I think I will try this team out! My Rosaria and (new) Kokomi aren't built but sometimes in abyss I want to give Albedo and Zhongli to my Hu Tao team, and I recently got C6 Rosaria too. If you don't mind me asking, what artifacts are you running on your Rosaria?
@@spyrothetimelord Blizzard Strayer has been my go-to. It's pretty easy to boost up Rosaria's crit rate to increase her bursts dot damage thanks to the various ways of which she gains additional crit from talents/resonance/artifact buffs/C1 bonus damage, but in order to transfer the max or near max amount of crit (which is 15%) she'll still need a lot of crit at base before buffs in order to do so. The more crit Rosaria can transfer, the more room you have to wiggle more crit damage into Raiden/Eula.
Can make it even less F2P friendly by replacing Rosaria with Shenhe. Her tap E will buff elemental skill and burst damage, while her burst provides a 10% phys and cryo resist debuff. Her burst also has a larger radius than Rosaria's, and, if you have her at C2, very nice uptime. I run atk/cryo/atk for this on Shenhe.
@@Axterix13 I'd probably do that for fun if I pulled for Shenhe, but I skipped her banner because I already had C6 Rosaria at that point. Shenhe needs constellations to beat out Rosaria in a Eula team, since Shenhe doesn't provide as much physical shred. That being said, I'd still totally do it if I had her lol. The team is already pretty heavy on the overkill as is.
Hoping to C2-3 her this time around. I had enough to C1 her so far, but now it’s a matter of luck and winning the 50/50 by the time the banner ends. Since Bennett and Kazuha (when I get him) are going on my Diluc team, I was thinking to run Raiden with Sara (currently C5), Kokomi (with ToM and TTDS) for the heals and EC, and Sucrose for the res shred. Hoping that’ll work out!
Try Switching Sucrose to Diluc Team with a TTDS and Kazhuva on Raidens Team I know that'll make One team More powerful than the Other But that Depends on the Supports On Diluc's Team I currently Main Diluc with Sucrose and It's so fun to Use But That's just My Opinion....
Wait why kokomi? You can run raiden hypercarry with bennet and kazuha, also sucrose is better with diluc because if the extra em, she can comfortably replace kazuha there but It'll be rather awkward to use with raiden
I'd suggest you to put Kazuha with Raiden and Sucrose with Diluc instead, it makes way more sense cause sucrose EM buff helps Diluc vape, but EM on Raiden is near useless, even in an EC comp. The DMG% bonus is more valuable.
I have C3 Raiden w/ R1 EL and C6 Sarah, and I couldn't ask for more! She's my ultimate carry in the game. Raiden Shogun is everything! Nuker, driver, support, and aesthetically pleasing with her combat and skill animation - okay, i'm totally simping. Highest burst shot that I got was around 600k+ (I don't have Kazuha T_T yet)
homa beats out wavefin by 1.06% damage - basically the same like you said. the gap gets wider w/ more team atk buffs though as wavefin provides atk% while homa provides crit damage, scaling better
Lost 50/50 and got mona on 84 pity, but thanks to my 20 days of f2p grinding b4 this banner, I had 10k primos and used it all. Got raiden at 66 pity and got c5 benett.(didn't have benett b4 this) Insane luck on 4 stars tho, got 6 benetts and only 1 xinyan and 1 diona.
@@zawardo111 nope, I'm f2p. But I am a fairly new player with 20 percent exploration rates on a lot of places on the map😅. Added with spiral abyss, shrine of depths,quests, world quests, story quests. In conclusion, I did a fair amount of grinding

I got my first raiden shogun yesterday and she is already maxed out with catch and talents. She is really a strong character but having a tough time paring with beidou
They don't synergize well so it's not advisable to pair her with Beidou. Depending on what team you're running and what constellation your Beidou have, you can use Beidou to another on-field character other than Raiden. And if you have C6 Beidou, you can use the last half of her burst duration to reduce the Electro Resistance of the enemies for your Raiden. Lightning arcs won't proc, but you're still buffing Raiden's burst.
If she ever becomes a bad option as a main DPS, she's still a fantastic support and burst DPS that could go with any number of teams. Even a C0 can really fix energy recharge problems for a lot of teams. Outside of meta, just the ability to trigger that many reactions with her E skill is a huge talent.
She is my main since she was released, she was the first character that I saved up primogems for and for the second time. Managed to get him c3 while watching your video just now. Got her weapon day one as well. The only thing I'm still trying to get is the last constellation for Sara. I have a few other 5* characters(Ganyu,HuTao,Shenhe etc I've been way too lucky) but Raiden is by far the most fun to play. I spent around $100 so far on Genshin since launch,I don't think it's much but it's a matter of perspective.
@@mahabharat156 you can simply just use er sands and focus on er sub stats and it definitely won't be the problem. applies to all crit polearms like pjws, homa, wavebreakers fin, deathmatch...
1 thing i wanted to ask, w/ her high energy burst, isnt the wavebreaker's fin better than the catch for her burst dmg? u can easily times 2 the burst dmg on the catch if u run her w/ a party that has high energy cost for eg: Xiangling, bennet, raiden n Xinqui in a team wud be around 90+80+80+60 energy cost, w/ a r4 wavebreakers fin u get abt 65% burst dmg bonus, w/ much higher base atk... on paper it seems much better, but i dont see u mention it on the list, so i was very curious to know the reason y it wasnt included
I run raiden with an r3 wavebreaker because the catch is on xiangling. if you manage to have enough er it is a very good weapon. r1 wavebreaker is already comptetitve with r5 the catch and pulls ahead with refinements. it's a shame no one really talks about this weapon. the catch is "better" because it is f2p and helps with the build, but if you manage to get enough er/crit rate wavebreaker is a super viable alternative.
@@msmcboi3128 You lose Electro Damage and also Burst Damage, because Emblem of Severed Fate also uses energy recharge. Wavebreaker's is a no no unless it's high ref against catch r1 or r2. Also, the amount of energy she regenerates for your team is based on her own energy recharge
R5 wave breaker is better but lower refinements are about the same, you mainly want catch on her but in rational if you don’t have dragons bane for xiangling, you can run catch on xiangling and wave breaker on raiden.
There's actually a good team for Raiden that's a good substitute to the hyper Raiden for a F2P: Raiden, Bennett, Sucrose, and surprisingly Lisa! Lisa's second ascension passive has a 15% DEF down when her burst hits enemies so it works so well when you only have a c0 Raiden. I don't remember which reddit post was it from but the clear time was really really good and I've tried it myself and it works so well.
I decided to use Jade Spear when I pulled for Raiden but it just didn't feel right so i switched over to an ER weapon like Skyward Spine and it fixed all the issues I had. Both Spine and Catch are incredible options if you dont have the Engulfing Lightning.
Just got her c4 with 180 pull (+ qiqi and diluc), im record and upload it in my videos. Raiden c2-3 is insane, if you unlock c6 sara and c5 bennett, burst damage is up to 200%-250% from normal (100%), because im f2p so replacing kazuha with some anemo + vv like sucrose for dec ele res only, in c0 with crit dmge around 180% and atk 1,6k and the catch r5 usually my charged atk after burst is only 25-29k, but after c3 and c6 sara i can deal up to 50-60k, with c0 you already enough for deal with abyss, but with c2-c3 you can make new lineup like hard carry Raiden or else because Raiden up damage around 2x from c0, im already tested it and make current abyss very2 easier than before
You can actually use mona instead of c6 sara in hyper carry : Build mona as a burst dps Make sure that you put mona in first place to apply hydro without losing widsith buff at the start (hit with normal attacks) Make kazuha take damage from an eletro enemy as an example rift hounds then make sure to not hit any enemies while you use your skill then you plunge with eletro on any hydro effected enemy TO GAIN BOTH ELETRO & HYDRO DAMAGE BONUS then Bennett burst then double nuke with mona & raiden
I had 160 wishes and close to pitty but lost my 50/50 to Keqing, but I was still able to get my C0 Raiden to C2 😤 Still need one copy of Kujo Sara for C6 tho 😔

You should've talked a bit about Wavebreaker, I got it on staff of homa banner r5 and it really does perform better than catch because of its high base atk and awesome passive
True, the er problem can also be solved by using er sands and focusing on er substat. Using wavebreaker will also solve the atk problem since you dont need to use atk goblet and instead use electeo goblet since wavebreaker already gives tons of base atk and atk%
For those have hesitation to pull her con i was doing 200k ult with c0-catch5-c2sara-c1benny-kazu to 500k c3-catch5-c6sara-c5benny-kazu (my dmg is f2p), after using 210 pulls and i don't regret anything!
@@LuffyPront8 first of all: you don't have to activate c6 Benny. 2nd: hyper raiden will not be affected positively or negatively by c6 Benny as Raiden will be wielding her electro imbued sword during her ult. 3rd: i never mentioned c6 Benny though.
i really like running raiden in a standard sucrose taser team, usually replacing fischl; she just solves any energy problems the team may have (despite the dissynergy with beidou)
I was expecting you to include the Staff of Homa, I’m still using it since it deals more DPS than my R5 Catch. I’m still hesitating to either pull for her signature weapon or just save it.
I dont think its worth risking getting the donut instead, besides even tho EL is definitely an upgrade its not a gamechanger at r1 like staff of homa imo
I got Raiden c0 and her signature weapon in her first banner and now I have two more. (+ Sarah c6). an upgrade game changing, I went from doing 200,000 damage to 450,000 and more (maybe I can reach 500k).
I got her yesterday night, for only 10 pulls!! Ganyu was my first 5-star character last time on her own banner, and now I got Ei too for the same amount of pulls! What a luck. TT
Never heard that, EL r1 is like 40%-30% or so more dmg than r5 the catch, so wavebreaker doing more is just stupid, specially with the casualties running that weapon has
@@user-qx1id1dt8x 30-40% of The catch, thats right BUT, first things first, wavebreaker has higher base atk of 620 and then you would be running raiden on atk sands, passive on R5 is at max 80% burst dmg more , which is possible with miko on team, but in normal team like hyper raiden with sara bennett sucrose/kazuha u get 74,4%/69,6% more burst dmg, its more than 2x the catch passive. I dont know what weapon u were thinking of, but it probably wasn't wavebreaker fin R5.
If there is one character to pull for constellations, it's Raiden, I'm never doing that, I prefer new c0 characters than cons as broken as some can be, but if you plan to have a character with a few constellations, c2-c3 Raiden is incredibly good, like best character in the game good
I was lucky with Raiden's rerun even though I'm f2p. I got her to C2 with just 140 pulls, lost 50/50 once and then I got the donut, skyward atlas, and engulfing lightning with just 72 pulls. She's the only character in my account with her signature weapon.
I got lucky during Raiden’s first run and got C1 so I specifically chased C2 this time. I’m hoping that during her next run, her weapon will be paired with another weapon that is actually useful to me. (After having to go all the way on Epitomized Path for Jade Spear, I’ve been scarred lol.) I’m saving for a Kamisato sibling now but someday I’ll get my Raiden to C3 with Engulfing Lightning. It’s what she deserves. ⚡️

I feel like you're really overvaluing ER here. I'm not a math guy, but ER sands with The Catch and Engulfing seems like overkill. Plus not listing weapons like Homa, PJWS, and Wavebreaker's just makes this feel like an incomplete guide. I like your content and all, but for a 28 minute video I feel like this lacked a lot of depth.
got her to c2 during this banner and sara to c6. at talent lvl9 with 2065 atk with wavebreaker fin r5 and only 110 cdmg she reached an amazing 370k burst dmg. wavebreaker at r5 is less than 2% worse than homa r1 when above 50% hp, which you always will be in hypercarry or rational team. can't say anything about engulfing since l haven't pulled that weapon. In any case, Amazing video and can't wait for more !

As someone who recently got Raiden c3 and Sara c6 and had c1 Raiden since she came out, the catch for me has been extremely good on other characters but raiden, with the damage she does on her Q and charged attacks with the catch r5 it seems at least to me that she does anywhere from 10- 20% ish less than staff of Homa, I don't really get why people have been telling me to never use anything but the catch r5 on her if I have staff of Homa. I'm not going to deny the fact that it's bad, it's fucking amazing especially since it's free and you can get it r5 but, I've worked on Raiden for a while to get her with a decent build and her version I have with the catch r5 compared to the staff of Homa one I have, there is a clear difference in performance with stats being as close as possible to each other. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see a reason why not to use staff of Homa especially when it isn't being utilized by anyone else and I can slap it on Raiden and literally get an upward increase of nearly 20% (give or take) to the damage I do in her burst and charged attacks.im curious as to why there is such a religious divide between people on the catch r5 and any other 5 star weapon like Homa, primordial jade spear and maybe if you have calamity queller. I'm interested to see what others think on this.
I think some people either don't have those weapon to compare directly and stick to math, or have those but haven't do direct comparison by themselves. And yes, I agree with you, some weapon outclass R5 the catch dmg wise, I myself use R5 wavebreaker fin (I have Homa but it's for Hu Tao). Like the dmg table comparison IWTL include, it listed spine as slightly weaker than R5 catch, but in my own comparison, Skyward spine is actuary slightly stronger than the catch! It's not much, tho, just around 10-15k for initial slash and 2-3k after. It seems spine higher base atk and er are enough to catch up the catch crit dmg bonus. Another reason could be because the catch give ER, crit rate and crit dmg (to burst) which makes building her artifact somewhat easier to newer player.
@@panjimartiandaru3081 yeah which is a valid argument, the weapon provides, Er, Crit rate, and damage all in 1, so its extremely good for a 4 star. But Imo with the staff of homa, my build is currently 66.8 crit, 190 crit dmg, 256 Er and 1900+ attack without the homa effect (2100+ when lower than 50% hp). I find that the distribution for the stats is quite good, and like some of my artifacts are trash too so i can do alot better. but because i've ask lots of other people for their options on the matter and ive been told that i should use The Catch r5 and my other build for the catch which is 1980 attack, 54.4 crit (66.4 after Q), 172 Crit dmg and 267 Er OVER the homa one. i find it strange that i should go with a build that they say is overall "better" or that it goes on her, like that means anything when consistency rate wise, they both have 66 crit rate, if not homa having 0.4 more (which isnt really anything) but it sacrifices some Er for 18% more Crit dmg and if i can get lucky and proc homa's effect i can get an extra like 200+ flat attack which makes up for the drop in Er by about like 9 - 10%. idk kinda strange imo.
@@visacard4921 yeah, as long as they balance the stats, it doesn't matter what Lance they use. And for me, R5 the catch is like, minimum baseline. Usually I would also suggest R5 catch for new shogun owner if they don't have other Lance, but if they have others (such as Jade spear or spine or even Homa), I would suggest they put those better Lance on their shogun and the catch on Xiangling. Oh wow you have really good artifacts there, you have enough ER even with Homa! I'm envious. My artifacts isn't as good as yours, I only have 53 - 150 crate - cdmg with 230 er with my wavebreaker fin. I'd love to get more ER and crate, but emblem domain haven't been kind to me so far. My current build is good enough for abyss, she can regain her burst fast enough for my rotation need, so I'm OK with it.

Hallo, big fan of your work! The math, especially percentage differences, really helps me to decide what's worth going for and what's good to have. My question though would be - is there such a thing as too much ER for Raiden? Math-wise I see that R1 Engulfing Lightning tops out at 386% ER but I've also seen comments that anything above 260% is unnecessary, whether for the Emblem or Engulfing buff. Do you think there's a point after which high ER starts giving diminishing returns?
I got her C2 on first banner when fishing for Sara. I just got her C3 winning a 50/50. I would have pull for her signature polearm but the catalyst is really useless so I'll wait until it comes back on another banner. She is the best character of my account so I decided to invest in her a little bit more. Having new characters is fun, but it the end you can't play them all at once. Now I'm sure I'm gonna use her on every new abyss rotation (except if Hoyoverse decides to troll us...). She is especially powerful in these abyss, obliterating the first floor in a few seconds with the Raiden hypercarry team.
appreciate the update to the shogun stuff =) it would've been nice to see the damage% increases with sara and bennet's atk buffs tho because R5 engulfing, sara C6, C3 shogun is obviously going to do a lot more than 300k as well as adding in kazuha / anemo shred venti
Just to be clear, are you writing off weapons like PJWS and Staff of Homa just because they don't provide additional ER? Can't they outperform The Catch in some cases because of their high ATK and crit?

Hey IWTL, what do you think about an atk% goblet and sands, using that I get my Raiden to around ~1700 atk, is that not worth it? Should I consider moving to a er piece? My ER currently is around 210-220%
if you're f2p you'd want your ER to stay at 200 at least. I think 1,7k attack damage is pretty good. You can't go for more than 2k attack damage without sacrificing your ER, unleash you have Engulfing. That's the point why mihoyo sell Engulfing, high attack, high ER, nothing to sacrifice 😂
Finally, someone who actually talk about her energy restoration capability and how good ER on her to sustain damage in most combat situations with EL. Not another nuke build who "suffer from success" by oneshoting enemies but unable to perform smooth rotation since it fails to fill her burst gauge for next rotation/waves. Thank you!
@@one-eyed_tempest yes, as long as you have decent amount of ER on her. Many CC think that 200% ER is more than enough for her. That's not how it works against single enemy that barely gives you any particles like world bosses, PMA or energy draining mobs in enkanomiya.

I'm trying to min maxing my build since i got EL by watching guides only to get frustrated by most CC who think that 200 ER is acceptable on "updated build". her damage source is basically when she use her burst. without smooth rotation, it's just dps lost. I'm just glad that iwtl, who actually know that F2P raiden shogun is good back then (despite the beidou drama) is also know how important ER stat on her.

Something interesting regarding the r5 Catch and Skyward Spine--the catch's burst percent boost, when multiplied with its base attack, actually goes up to about the same base attack as the Skyward Spine, so at base, the burst is doing the same damage. The Catch comes ahead slightly on the burst thanks to slightly higher ER, but the attack speed buff on Spine can also allow for some 2-hit normals before doing a charge attack, rather than 1 in your burst attack rotation, still getting the same number of charge attacks off. The Skyward Spine's crit and higher base attack also buffs up your E, which is something the Catch doesn't affect. Otherwise the two of them for all intents and purposes are incredibly similar in performance, I'd say even closer than the numbers predict.
I personally moved my Catch to Xiangling and put one of my Spines on Raiden.

An R5 catch offers +32% burst damage (and 12% burst crit). 1.32 x 510 base attack = 673.2, but only for bursts. Meanwhile the Spine has 674 base attack and 8% crit (on everything). At base they're nearly identical.
The extra tiny 4% more crit on the Catch, and slightly more ER makes for like a 1-2% improvement in burst damage over the Spine on both chars. If you have both, the big thing is Xiangling is almost entirely centered around her burst, while for Raiden to be honest it's definitely worth giving up that 1% edge to get benefits for your E and for your attack speed while in your burst.
So while the Catch does outweigh Spine for xiangling, it's by an incredibly narrow margin, while the opposite is true for Raiden (due to her relying on more of her kit).
I also have an R1 Jade Spear. Is it better to use JS than The Catch base on math?
@@pfdcalanao I'm too lazy to do calculations, but Jade spear would be better used on another character besides Raiden. The passive benefits on field dps units, and in most team popular team comps for Raiden (Raiden + Eula or Raiden National), Raiden is swapped out after her skill or burst.
Jade spear does have the benefit of high base attack (674 at lvl 90) and crit rate (22.1%), but the Catch at R5 (510 base atk and 45.9% ER at lvl 90, plus 32% increased burst dmg and 12% extra crit on burst) is overall a better option, unless you're running main dps Raiden 😊 Death match is another good option; it has a general passive and at lvl 90 it has 454 base atk and 36.8% crit rate.

id like to point out that any %dmg comparison between the catch and engulfing lightning heavily depends on your amount of ER bc of the engulfing lightnings passive, i.e the difference in dmg between a 200% ER raiden with a r5 catch and a r1 engulfing lightning is much lower than 27% (about 15-17%). Also for the catch users i believe the recommended ER caps at around 220% and attack sands is arguable the better choice given you have over 200% ER. Anyway great video as always!
This also shows a strength of the engulfing lightning. You can build more ER without sacrificing dmg

No, recommended ER doesn't cap at anywhere, when I personally ran a lower ER build it just made her battery less effective, just enough to ruin rotations (national team or other teams vs the mechanical array, huge energy issues due to single target boss). Recommended ER caps at wherever you personally find her rotations comfortable to work with. 250 is still a good target. 300 ER is the soft cap for emblem set so you still have plenty of room before diminishing returns becomes an actual issue. It's just that on engulfing lightning you don't really face diminishing returns on ER anymore (up to 300).
@@Meverynoob Mb i didnt specify that 200% ER should be enough for her to battery herself (have her burst on cooldown). I have her on 223% and i have no energy issues in either hypercarry raiden comps nor national variations using her as a battery, keep in mind you cant neglect your other characters ER just bc u have raiden as a battery. According to KQM the difference in energy restoration during her burst goes from 20 energy at 200% ER to a potential 24 energy at 250% ER but ofc you should run enough ER on her to fulfill you personal needs, specially if you need to battery your team and not ruin your rotations

I was able to get C3 this time around, then with 40 wishes left I sniped engulfing lightning from the weapon banner. I have never been able to do so much damage so easily in the overworld. Just Bennett and Sara, and I get 300k, I'm so happy.

Now my raiden is sitting at like, 59/144 CR/CD, 2.2k atk and 298 ER. I gotta work on my crit rate now that I don't have the boost from the Catch anymore but it's still pretty freaking solid.
Is there a reason why you didn't include Wavebreaker's Fin in the weapon section? I actually prefer it over The Catch since I'm able to get more consistent and higher damage from it. Both are also R5.

After 7 months of camping emblem, I’ve finalised a solid build for her.
R5 Wavebreakers Fin, 70/144 Crit Ratio, 250 ER and with electro dmg goblet.
She’s been helping me 36* star abyss since her release.
To this day she's the only limited 5 star I would spend all my hard earned primos for c2, best value imo, that is if you already have a good solid team and just looking to make your team stronger

Raiden/Eula/Rosaria(C6)/Kokomi. You can either go support Kokomi to boost Raiden/Eula with Thrilling Tales + Tenacity , or you can use offensive Kokomi with protoype amber + ocean hued clam and create 56k bubble bursts. Lots of 5* so it's not f2p friendly, but it's a very fun set up to play, especially since the team has no down time because someone's burst is always active.
I think I will try this team out! My Rosaria and (new) Kokomi aren't built but sometimes in abyss I want to give Albedo and Zhongli to my Hu Tao team, and I recently got C6 Rosaria too. If you don't mind me asking, what artifacts are you running on your Rosaria?
@@spyrothetimelord Blizzard Strayer has been my go-to. It's pretty easy to boost up Rosaria's crit rate to increase her bursts dot damage thanks to the various ways of which she gains additional crit from talents/resonance/artifact buffs/C1 bonus damage, but in order to transfer the max or near max amount of crit (which is 15%) she'll still need a lot of crit at base before buffs in order to do so. The more crit Rosaria can transfer, the more room you have to wiggle more crit damage into Raiden/Eula.
Surprised you can get 56k! The cap of 30k+ supervonduct nets me like 35k or so, i guess eula+c6 rosaria phys resistance debuff let it get that high?
Can make it even less F2P friendly by replacing Rosaria with Shenhe. Her tap E will buff elemental skill and burst damage, while her burst provides a 10% phys and cryo resist debuff. Her burst also has a larger radius than Rosaria's, and, if you have her at C2, very nice uptime. I run atk/cryo/atk for this on Shenhe.
@@Axterix13 I'd probably do that for fun if I pulled for Shenhe, but I skipped her banner because I already had C6 Rosaria at that point. Shenhe needs constellations to beat out Rosaria in a Eula team, since Shenhe doesn't provide as much physical shred. That being said, I'd still totally do it if I had her lol. The team is already pretty heavy on the overkill as is.
Hoping to C2-3 her this time around. I had enough to C1 her so far, but now it’s a matter of luck and winning the 50/50 by the time the banner ends.
Since Bennett and Kazuha (when I get him) are going on my Diluc team, I was thinking to run Raiden with Sara (currently C5), Kokomi (with ToM and TTDS) for the heals and EC, and Sucrose for the res shred. Hoping that’ll work out!

Try Switching Sucrose to Diluc Team with a TTDS and Kazhuva on Raidens Team I know that'll make One team More powerful than the Other But that Depends on the Supports On Diluc's Team I currently Main Diluc with Sucrose and It's so fun to Use But That's just My Opinion....
Wait why kokomi? You can run raiden hypercarry with bennet and kazuha, also sucrose is better with diluc because if the extra em, she can comfortably replace kazuha there but It'll be rather awkward to use with raiden
I'd suggest you to put Kazuha with Raiden and Sucrose with Diluc instead, it makes way more sense cause sucrose EM buff helps Diluc vape, but EM on Raiden is near useless, even in an EC comp. The DMG% bonus is more valuable.
I have C3 Raiden w/ R1 EL and C6 Sarah, and I couldn't ask for more! She's my ultimate carry in the game. Raiden Shogun is everything! Nuker, driver, support, and aesthetically pleasing with her combat and skill animation - okay, i'm totally simping. Highest burst shot that I got was around 600k+ (I don't have Kazuha T_T yet)

Wavebreaker fin is a very good weapon for raiden , at R5 its as strong as staff of homa or better
homa beats out wavefin by 1.06% damage - basically the same like you said. the gap gets wider w/ more team atk buffs though as wavefin provides atk% while homa provides crit damage, scaling better

Lost 50/50 and got mona on 84 pity, but thanks to my 20 days of f2p grinding b4 this banner, I had 10k primos and used it all. Got raiden at 66 pity and got c5 benett.(didn't have benett b4 this) Insane luck on 4 stars tho, got 6 benetts and only 1 xinyan and 1 diona.

I got my first raiden shogun yesterday and she is already maxed out with catch and talents. She is really a strong character but having a tough time paring with beidou
They don't synergize well so it's not advisable to pair her with Beidou. Depending on what team you're running and what constellation your Beidou have, you can use Beidou to another on-field character other than Raiden. And if you have C6 Beidou, you can use the last half of her burst duration to reduce the Electro Resistance of the enemies for your Raiden. Lightning arcs won't proc, but you're still buffing Raiden's burst.

If she ever becomes a bad option as a main DPS, she's still a fantastic support and burst DPS that could go with any number of teams. Even a C0 can really fix energy recharge problems for a lot of teams. Outside of meta, just the ability to trigger that many reactions with her E skill is a huge talent.

She is my main since she was released, she was the first character that I saved up primogems for and for the second time. Managed to get him c3 while watching your video just now. Got her weapon day one as well. The only thing I'm still trying to get is the last constellation for Sara. I have a few other 5* characters(Ganyu,HuTao,Shenhe etc I've been way too lucky) but Raiden is by far the most fun to play. I spent around $100 so far on Genshin since launch,I don't think it's much but it's a matter of perspective.

I run raiden with an r3 wavebreaker because the catch is on xiangling. if you manage to have enough er it is a very good weapon. r1 wavebreaker is already comptetitve with r5 the catch and pulls ahead with refinements. it's a shame no one really talks about this weapon. the catch is "better" because it is f2p and helps with the build, but if you manage to get enough er/crit rate wavebreaker is a super viable alternative.
@@msmcboi3128 You lose Electro Damage and also Burst Damage, because Emblem of Severed Fate also uses energy recharge. Wavebreaker's is a no no unless it's high ref against catch r1 or r2. Also, the amount of energy she regenerates for your team is based on her own energy recharge
R5 wave breaker is better but lower refinements are about the same, you mainly want catch on her but in rational if you don’t have dragons bane for xiangling, you can run catch on xiangling and wave breaker on raiden.

There's actually a good team for Raiden that's a good substitute to the hyper Raiden for a F2P: Raiden, Bennett, Sucrose, and surprisingly Lisa! Lisa's second ascension passive has a 15% DEF down when her burst hits enemies so it works so well when you only have a c0 Raiden. I don't remember which reddit post was it from but the clear time was really really good and I've tried it myself and it works so well.

Usually I'm a C0 person but Raiden got me convinced to wish for her C2 that I would skip several new characters for her! Great video once again.
Her charged attack hits high enough to hit the ruin guards eye.
I decided to use Jade Spear when I pulled for Raiden but it just didn't feel right so i switched over to an ER weapon like Skyward Spine and it fixed all the issues I had. Both Spine and Catch are incredible options if you dont have the Engulfing Lightning.
Just got her c4 with 180 pull (+ qiqi and diluc), im record and upload it in my videos.
Raiden c2-3 is insane, if you unlock c6 sara and c5 bennett, burst damage is up to 200%-250% from normal (100%), because im f2p so replacing kazuha with some anemo + vv like sucrose for dec ele res only, in c0 with crit dmge around 180% and atk 1,6k and the catch r5 usually my charged atk after burst is only 25-29k, but after c3 and c6 sara i can deal up to 50-60k, with c0 you already enough for deal with abyss, but with c2-c3 you can make new lineup like hard carry Raiden or else because Raiden up damage around 2x from c0, im already tested it and make current abyss very2 easier than before

Build mona as a burst dps
Make sure that you put mona in first place to apply hydro without losing widsith buff at the start (hit with normal attacks)
Make kazuha take damage from an eletro enemy as an example rift hounds then make sure to not hit any enemies while you use your skill then you plunge with eletro on any hydro effected enemy TO GAIN BOTH ELETRO & HYDRO DAMAGE BONUS then Bennett burst then double nuke with mona & raiden
I had 160 wishes and close to pitty but lost my 50/50 to Keqing, but I was still able to get my C0 Raiden to C2 😤

I lost my 5050 to C1 Jean. Got Raiden. Then lost to C1 Diluc. Im not too mad since I main both of em but im mad I couldve had a C2 Raiden lol

You should've talked a bit about Wavebreaker, I got it on staff of homa banner r5 and it really does perform better than catch because of its high base atk and awesome passive
True, the er problem can also be solved by using er sands and focusing on er substat. Using wavebreaker will also solve the atk problem since you dont need to use atk goblet and instead use electeo goblet since wavebreaker already gives tons of base atk and atk%

For those have hesitation to pull her con i was doing 200k ult with c0-catch5-c2sara-c1benny-kazu to 500k c3-catch5-c6sara-c5benny-kazu (my dmg is f2p), after using 210 pulls and i don't regret anything!
What if bennett is c6? Isnt he become useless on that point?

2nd: hyper raiden will not be affected positively or negatively by c6 Benny as Raiden will be wielding her electro imbued sword during her ult.
3rd: i never mentioned c6 Benny though.
yep totally worth it, with my c2 raiden with engulfing just with bennet buff I can hit 200k dmg
i really like running raiden in a standard sucrose taser team, usually replacing fischl; she just solves any energy problems the team may have (despite the dissynergy with beidou)

I was expecting you to include the Staff of Homa, I’m still using it since it deals more DPS than my R5 Catch. I’m still hesitating to either pull for her signature weapon or just save it.

Her constellation 2 does not shred defense. It ignores defense for her burst attacks.
I got Raiden c0 and her signature weapon in her first banner and now I have two more. (+ Sarah c6). an upgrade game changing, I went from doing 200,000 damage to 450,000 and more (maybe I can reach 500k).

Hmm isn't wavebreaker R5 doing more DMG than engulfing lightning R1? ( minus ER that engulfing provides)
Never heard that, EL r1 is like 40%-30% or so more dmg than r5 the catch, so wavebreaker doing more is just stupid, specially with the casualties running that weapon has
@@user-qx1id1dt8x 30-40% of The catch, thats right BUT, first things first, wavebreaker has higher base atk of 620 and then you would be running raiden on atk sands, passive on R5 is at max 80% burst dmg more , which is possible with miko on team, but in normal team like hyper raiden with sara bennett sucrose/kazuha u get 74,4%/69,6% more burst dmg, its more than 2x the catch passive. I dont know what weapon u were thinking of, but it probably wasn't wavebreaker fin R5.
I personally hit 338k with the catch,as a free to play I am proud of that...and I still used a crit rate circlet😋
If there is one character to pull for constellations, it's Raiden, I'm never doing that, I prefer new c0 characters than cons as broken as some can be, but if you plan to have a character with a few constellations, c2-c3 Raiden is incredibly good, like best character in the game good

I was lucky with Raiden's rerun even though I'm f2p. I got her to C2 with just 140 pulls, lost 50/50 once and then I got the donut, skyward atlas, and engulfing lightning with just 72 pulls. She's the only character in my account with her signature weapon.
I got lucky during Raiden’s first run and got C1 so I specifically chased C2 this time. I’m hoping that during her next run, her weapon will be paired with another weapon that is actually useful to me. (After having to go all the way on Epitomized Path for Jade Spear, I’ve been scarred lol.) I’m saving for a Kamisato sibling now but someday I’ll get my Raiden to C3 with Engulfing Lightning. It’s what she deserves. ⚡️

I feel like you're really overvaluing ER here. I'm not a math guy, but ER sands with The Catch and Engulfing seems like overkill. Plus not listing weapons like Homa, PJWS, and Wavebreaker's just makes this feel like an incomplete guide. I like your content and all, but for a 28 minute video I feel like this lacked a lot of depth.

got her to c2 during this banner and sara to c6. at talent lvl9 with 2065 atk with wavebreaker fin r5 and only 110 cdmg she reached an amazing 370k burst dmg. wavebreaker at r5 is less than 2% worse than homa r1 when above 50% hp, which you always will be in hypercarry or rational team. can't say anything about engulfing since l haven't pulled that weapon. In any case, Amazing video and can't wait for more !

As someone who recently got Raiden c3 and Sara c6 and had c1 Raiden since she came out, the catch for me has been extremely good on other characters but raiden, with the damage she does on her Q and charged attacks with the catch r5 it seems at least to me that she does anywhere from 10- 20% ish less than staff of Homa, I don't really get why people have been telling me to never use anything but the catch r5 on her if I have staff of Homa.
I'm not going to deny the fact that it's bad, it's fucking amazing especially since it's free and you can get it r5 but, I've worked on Raiden for a while to get her with a decent build and her version I have with the catch r5 compared to the staff of Homa one I have, there is a clear difference in performance with stats being as close as possible to each other.
Unless I'm missing something, I don't see a reason why not to use staff of Homa especially when it isn't being utilized by anyone else and I can slap it on Raiden and literally get an upward increase of nearly 20% (give or take) to the damage I do in her burst and charged attacks.im curious as to why there is such a religious divide between people on the catch r5 and any other 5 star weapon like Homa, primordial jade spear and maybe if you have calamity queller.
I'm interested to see what others think on this.
I think some people either don't have those weapon to compare directly and stick to math, or have those but haven't do direct comparison by themselves.
And yes, I agree with you, some weapon outclass R5 the catch dmg wise, I myself use R5 wavebreaker fin (I have Homa but it's for Hu Tao).
Like the dmg table comparison IWTL include, it listed spine as slightly weaker than R5 catch, but in my own comparison, Skyward spine is actuary slightly stronger than the catch! It's not much, tho, just around 10-15k for initial slash and 2-3k after. It seems spine higher base atk and er are enough to catch up the catch crit dmg bonus.
Another reason could be because the catch give ER, crit rate and crit dmg (to burst) which makes building her artifact somewhat easier to newer player.
@@panjimartiandaru3081 yeah which is a valid argument, the weapon provides, Er, Crit rate, and damage all in 1, so its extremely good for a 4 star.
But Imo with the staff of homa, my build is currently 66.8 crit, 190 crit dmg, 256 Er and 1900+ attack without the homa effect (2100+ when lower than 50% hp).
I find that the distribution for the stats is quite good, and like some of my artifacts are trash too so i can do alot better. but because i've ask lots of other people for their options on the matter and ive been told that i should use The Catch r5 and my other build for the catch which is 1980 attack, 54.4 crit (66.4 after Q), 172 Crit dmg and 267 Er OVER the homa one.
i find it strange that i should go with a build that they say is overall "better" or that it goes on her, like that means anything when consistency rate wise, they both have 66 crit rate, if not homa having 0.4 more (which isnt really anything) but it sacrifices some Er for 18% more Crit dmg and if i can get lucky and proc homa's effect i can get an extra like 200+ flat attack which makes up for the drop in Er by about like 9 - 10%.

@@visacard4921 yeah, as long as they balance the stats, it doesn't matter what Lance they use.
And for me, R5 the catch is like, minimum baseline. Usually I would also suggest R5 catch for new shogun owner if they don't have other Lance, but if they have others (such as Jade spear or spine or even Homa), I would suggest they put those better Lance on their shogun and the catch on Xiangling.
Oh wow you have really good artifacts there, you have enough ER even with Homa! I'm envious.
My artifacts isn't as good as yours, I only have 53 - 150 crate - cdmg with 230 er with my wavebreaker fin. I'd love to get more ER and crate, but emblem domain haven't been kind to me so far. My current build is good enough for abyss, she can regain her burst fast enough for my rotation need, so I'm OK with it.

Hallo, big fan of your work! The math, especially percentage differences, really helps me to decide what's worth going for and what's good to have.
My question though would be - is there such a thing as too much ER for Raiden? Math-wise I see that R1 Engulfing Lightning tops out at 386% ER but I've also seen comments that anything above 260% is unnecessary, whether for the Emblem or Engulfing buff. Do you think there's a point after which high ER starts giving diminishing returns?

I got her C2 on first banner when fishing for Sara. I just got her C3 winning a 50/50. I would have pull for her signature polearm but the catalyst is really useless so I'll wait until it comes back on another banner. She is the best character of my account so I decided to invest in her a little bit more. Having new characters is fun, but it the end you can't play them all at once. Now I'm sure I'm gonna use her on every new abyss rotation (except if Hoyoverse decides to troll us...).
She is especially powerful in these abyss, obliterating the first floor in a few seconds with the Raiden hypercarry team.

it would've been nice to see the damage% increases with sara and bennet's atk buffs tho because R5 engulfing, sara C6, C3 shogun is obviously going to do a lot more than 300k as well as adding in kazuha / anemo shred venti

Just to be clear, are you writing off weapons like PJWS and Staff of Homa just because they don't provide additional ER? Can't they outperform The Catch in some cases because of their high ATK and crit?
She scales off from ER so these weapons don't really work
pjws and homa are around 4-6% better than r5 catch, just use whichever deals more damage/provides better crit balance for you

Hey IWTL, what do you think about an atk% goblet and sands, using that I get my Raiden to around ~1700 atk, is that not worth it? Should I consider moving to a er piece? My ER currently is around 210-220%
if you're f2p you'd want your ER to stay at 200 at least.
I think 1,7k attack damage is pretty good. You can't go for more than 2k attack damage without sacrificing your ER, unleash you have Engulfing.
That's the point why mihoyo sell Engulfing, high attack, high ER, nothing to sacrifice 😂
