Since at this point the ottomans were at the height of their power, I personally think history would have been very differently written. Personally I think that the continents were actually flipped on earth, explaining why the native races of Africa are white and why paradis is in no way like Madagascar. The climates are reversed; Europe probably has a black majority, Asia remains about the same, and south America lacks the empires that real south America had and is easier to colonize than north America because of it.
This information, while technically correct, is already out of date and we have learned a great deal more in the past year and half. - The squabbling Titan families were all kept in check by the power of the Founding Titan which is why Elida never fell in all those centuries. - The reason Marley got the upper hand had nothing to do with any of their efforts, it was, in fact, the 145th King's (Karl Fritz) will that they be freed and the Eldian people be subjugated. He arranged for all of this in conjunction with the Tybur family (the ones who possessed the Warhammer Titan power) and set up a fake Marleyan hero named Helios for those people to rally around. The plan went forward by having the various houses fight among themselves as usual, but Fritz did not intervene with the Founding power, thus allowing Eldia to self-destruct. - Karl Fritz never intended for the wall titans to be used, he just wanted the Eldian peoples to live in blissful peace until Marley or the world decided to come and exterminate them, which is why their memories were taken away. - There are peoples living in the walls that are not affected by the Founding Titan powers because they are not of the People of Ymir. It is one of the reasons why the Asian clan are hunted is because they cannot be affected by that power. Another clan that cannot be affected is the Ackermann clan, which are super soldiers created by the royal family to act as body guards. The Ackermanns did not agree with what Fritz had done and were hunted down for it. - We know now why the Colossal Titan and the other Warriors were sent; it was to draw out the Fritz family and then take the Founding Titan power back to Marley so that Marley can buy time with it until their dependence on Titans can be sufficiently reduced. Marley became too dependent on the 7 Titan powers they captured to maintain their empire and so had let their technology stagnate some compared to other countries. Those other nations now have significant anti-Titan capabilities and soon with increasing advancements in airpower as well as artillery, Titans will become obsolete as weapons. - We now know that the analog to Japan in this world : Hizuru was once a staunch ally of Eldia and when Eldia collapsed, so did Hizuru's fortunes. Hizuru is ruled by the Azumabito clan. The Asian people are partly descendants of that clan and Mikasa is a direct descendant of them which is why she has that scar/tattoo on her wrist. Like the Ackermanns, they also disagreed with Karl Fritz and refused a place of nobility inside the walls and in turn were hunted down for it. - There are African peoples as well as other dark-skinned ethic groups still left. But most of the Eldian and Marleyan peoples are fair-skinned.
I was never all that interested in the lore of AoT nor the series in general (I don't like steampunk, nor do I like the 3DMG), but this is actually fairly interesting. One could hope that the 20th century-tier technology of the rest of the world means that titans, armoured or not, wouldn't be a problem for them (because anti-tank rifles are a thing hehe).
AdotLOM Do yourself a favour and read the series. The geopolitical aspects of it were what got me interested and it is one of my favourite series now, despite originally thinking it looked kind of boring. To answer your question, this will be a spoiler I’d suppose, one of the bigger plot lines recently is that as technology has progressed and Marley have put all of their focus into the titans they are behind on the times and the titans themselves are becoming less reliable as weapons.
This needs an update. Ymir was the slave of King Fritz, and was infected by some sort of parasite while running for her life (she was being punished for losing a pig, which all the other slaves pinned on her). King Fritz used her to build roads, bridges, furrow fields, and also lay waste to his enemies. The poor girl basically had Stockholm Syndrome, and didn't resist when Fritz "rewarded her with his seed", bearing three girls in the process. When Ymir died saving Fritz from an assassination attempt, the tyrant had her body chopped up and fed to their three daughters until they attained titan powers. On his deathbed, he demanded that they breed endlessly so as to ensure that his Eldian Empire would rule the world. Also, Black people DO exist.

YellowTwerker was he necessary to the story? Pavlov's gun mate, things added to as story need to have a purpose, don't draw attention to a gun hanging on the wall if it ain't gonna shoot someone. Same principle, why do you think this black guy was drawn attention to? As far as the story yet goes Marley and Paradis are the only countries that matter. Any time something like this happens it is because the creator feels he needs to to avoid negative backlash. If a story from the start contains black people or they are introduced later as a major point with defined reasons for existing, fine, but if they bung in one black guy because they feel they need to that's just them trying to satisfy the world's ridiculous need for political correctness.

It takes place in an alternate universe. The geography of their world has nothing to do with ours except it's just based on ours. There's a theory their version of Earth is at least 5 times as big though to fit the walls on Paradis. Also, Japan in their universe is called Hizuru.

Don't take that out of context, relative to what this story is about, it makes sense. Except that they may not be Jews, but some other race that Germany accepted though still considered less than them (like the Japanese).
SWLY asians in the continent seems to be just a merchants descendants in the first place so asians or non eldians that fled to paradis island seems already pretty low. And yes, only eldians that affected with the mass amnesia. So non-eldians are hunted down to keep the secrets.
Actually the manga makes it rather ambiguous as to what really happened during the Eldian regime. The Marleyans teach of their alleged genocide, but this is being questioned with the argument being that there wouldn't be any other races left, while the Eldian resistance fighters believed the regime to have brought stability and infrastructure everywhere, which, again, is doubted by an important character

Looks like the present time in AOT is in the 19th centuary, given that the marleys have blimps and WW1 weapons while the people in paradis island live in (what looks like to me) the 17th centuary, and they recently invented electricity.
jamie That's because the king halted technological advancement in the kingdom, to prevent the citizens from discovering the outside world. One of the few technologies that were permitted to be developed is the Maneuver gear, since defending the kingdom from Titans is still important.
Nah, from the future I am. Paradis is actually 100 years backwards due to no contact with people outside the wall. And The Rest of the World is in the 1900s. So, technically. The Present Time in AoT is the 1900s and Paradis Time is 1800s
I'd say it's more like the Enclave enslaving people to dig up the FEV at Mariposa, which resulted in them being turned into super mutants. They wanted the FEV to turn it into a pathogen that killed everyone and everything that was "tainted" by mutation, I.E., everyone and everything that wasn't them. They were trying to use mutation to kill mutants, like Marley was using the titans to kill off the remaining Eldians.

Good video but I'd like to answer and correct a few things. First this earth is simply a different earth entirely from ours, it is africa but in this universe it isn't "africa" in fact its not even a desert/jungle continent. It's been shown to be very european, in fact the entire Attack on titan lore is heavily based on Norse mythology thus all the german and swedish names of the characters. As for WHEN does it take place, again it doesn't exist in our timeline however the current world of attack on titan greatly resembles early 1910s, WW1 era to be specific. As for "were there always titans?" Well...no, Ymir was the first titan ever thus why she was able to take over the known world at the time, This happened 2000 years before the story so she was met with spears swords and arrows. Also Ymir getting her power from "The devil" is revealed in the story to be false, propaganda by Marley to depict the Eldians as evil and "descendants of the devil" to justify their genocidal treatment of them. The truth behind how Ymir found the power to become a titan is still unknown exactly, much like many real mysteries of the real world its been lost to history.
The planet has had many climate shifts before. And Africa is by no means limited to deserts and jungles. The climate is way more diverse than you think.
Wait, event if u said it doesn't exist in our timeline (with it dose make sense), this current world are nothing close to early 1910s, because in this kinda of time we will have "both-action Rifle", some Car or close to a Machine-gun, but here we have Musket Rifle, horse at the main transportation, also the Equipment of the soldier are Way more advanced than most technology they have (maybe just for the animed show, but i like to points it out)

Forgot to mention the part about Eldian's being represented as literal devil worshipping nazis came from the Marleyan textbooks (the irony), in the manga Owl reveals to Girsha how both interpretations of history, both from the restorationists and the government have their biases and serve mainly as propaganda, so we dont know 100% on how the titans came to being or how the pre wall Eldians really were. I really actually like how each story was made to fit a historical narrative. It reflects the way our history was passed and was prone to manipulation for political purposes. Good video though! I thought i was the only one who cared more about the world and politics than the main cast (though the some characters ive grown to love later on)
The story is taking place around WW1/WW2 (the Middle Easterns they fought had Ottoman-inspired uniforms and the Marleys were saying that Titans are becoming more and more useless because of the improvements to Navy and Air Force). Technology within the walls on Madagascar is outdated because it has been repressed by the regime, presumably to maintain stability (for example they killed some people that tried to invent a hot air balloon because they thought it would be used to get over the walls). Basically they're the North Korea of AOT. They don't want the people inside to know anything about the outside. That's also why they have wiped their memories so they'd think they're the last bastion of humanity. I think they did it because they wanted to "restart" humanity, they wanted to have a new start without any grudges. It's an endless genocide cycle with Marleyans and Eldians. So they wanted to break that cycle. At least that's my theory. AoT has a very interesting world indeed. It was a huge surprise to everyone when it was all revealed around chapter 80. Before that chapter for years everyone had so many theories and many people thought it was just a simple manga about humans fighting titans in medieval times. Then it did a 180* and changed into Game of Thrones/House of Cards lol. And after all it's just about humans killing humans.
It looks to me more like Renaissance era Germany. The architecture is very German and a lot of the uniforms are German as well. Being Germany also somewhat fits as during that era Germany was in an almost constant state of war. Mercenaries exploited peasants freely so many sought protection under lords and behind walls for that. It's no surprise that German is the most common descend for Americans. Millions upon millions of Germans left. I think that fits with the cut-throat world they live in and just how dependent they are on their walls.
The show definitely takes place around WW1. A time where traditional warfare is beginning to become obsolete. Artillery shells, and other machines of mass destruction are being incorporated into warfare. Human technology has finally caught up to titans.

You should really remake this one, it has alot of inaccuracies, Like Eldians genociding Orientals, when Infact the Eldians and Hizurus (ancestors of the Orientals) were actually allies, one of the prince of Hizuru was actually stuck on Paradis when Karl Fritz lock the Eldians inside the walls

Baker's Bread actaully the map is correct for the most part. The world itself is flipped and no Africans weren't genocide. Alot of what he says seems a bit made up, as though he just read the wiki and did patchwork.
but it's inverted. If you face south and look to your right you will look towards paradis in their world, but not madagascar in ours. So it cannot be this world. A better term for it would be "mirror world" or something, not alternate timeline.

But Hanji's two previous test titans were called Albert and Chikatilo. Albert Fish was a cannibal who died between the 30s-50s (I can't remember at the moment), and Andre Chikatilo was a Russian cannibal who was executed in the mid 1990s. In MY lifetime.

6kvin10 That's not actually true, they just didn't really develop their technology because 1) The people inside the walls on Paradis lost all their memory and didn't know about different technological advancement, and 2) The citizens on the mainland were in near-constant warfare and were busy developing weaponry instead.
6kvin10 I recall reading somewhere in the manga that the year OUTSIDE is actually 1854. Basically at the beginning of the story the year is 845 (1845 for the outside world). By now in the manga, its 854 (1854).
Actually we don't know the real story yet, and we probably never will. The entire point of the setting is that both sides are corrupted and not above using propaganda to further their cause. The truth is likely somewhere in the middle.

When? Because it might have survived maybe until 1700's or so but then in 1800's with the rise of nationalism and nation states, with its very diverse population and culture, it would have failed. No matter where you put it in a timeline, it fails. Take it and put it in present day setting - a majority Muslim country ruled by Christians and with Greek, who are a minority, being a dominant culture - that ain't gonna last. Actually, Roman empire (the western one) was more likely to succeed, as its core was on their own territory while Byzantine empire was the product of conquest and was a melting pot of peoples and cultures that do not go well together. So what ever way you go and by some magic the empire survives to this day and you say - good, now let's see what we have - all you are going to get is a country that fails within years of you starting a simulation. It was not some event that brought about an end of an empire, nor the series of events within a few decades that you could avoid. The downfall of the empire was built in itself and was something that spanned centuries - it HAD to fall. Roman empire on the other hand, while it also had a few centuries of rotting from within, we can actually see the defining moments and thing that could have gone differently for it to survive. And it had what it needed to continue after that, with some loss of territory. Byzantine? No. No matter how imaginative you are, it fails. It was an artificial construct based on conquest where the ruling people were a minority - not gonna work.
I mean, if we take it from about the 1200s it would probably have survived because, well, it was Greece... Because "Turkey" didn't exist. There were no muslims in Anatolia, at least not that much. The vast majority would be Greeks with some other balkans. I assume it would look a lot like Modern Greece, only with a different name and a little bigger.
Oh for heavens sake. Not the Africa thing again. EVERYONE misses a REALLY IMPORTANT DETAIL. IT'S NOT AFRICA/MADAGASGAR! Look at the environments. Does that look like Madagasgar to you? No! It's really European. It even snows. It doesn't get that hot. There's boreal forests.
The only thing we know is that the founding titan can create and control titans, and control Eldians to some extent (memory manipulation is the only thing we've seen). That sure as hell doesn't sound like "whatever they want".
It's shaped like Africa, and Eurasia, but they're flipped so that Eurasia is possibly in the tropics. There's a huge land mass on the map that is not consistent with anything in this world. It's looks like Africa, but it's not Africa.

Sorry dude, not Madagascar... Only the innermost ring of the walls would even fit there. Prolly not even Earth- just laziest fictional cartography ever.
On the other hand, landmass big enough to fit the outermost wall, and have some land left over so you can't see the sea, would fall somewhere between Greenland and Australia in size so I'm unsure if it would be an island or continent. It may be just semantics, but it makes me think it's just the case of the writer not checking his math in time. Not that it really matters if it's Earth or not.
At it's widest point, Madagascar is just under 600 km, which is only slightly bigger than the innermost wall... And the other two rings go out for hundreds of kilometers further. Bear in mind, almost everything you see in the show or manga- the epic battles, whole towns getting destroyed, recon missions in different climates, chase scenes that go on for fucking ever- pretty much all that shit is happening between the walls.
I thought the most interesting thing about the lore is the radical difference in advancements of their societies. The Marlyens at this point were WW2-era level of industrialized might while the Paradis Eldians stagnated with 18th century tech. I mean the average Marlyen would scoff at the notion of Jaeger "fighting for humanity". It would be kinda like the premise of The Village.
It was shown in season 3 that the technology remained stagnant because of the interior military police hindering technological progress to keep the people from uncovering the truth. They already have invented lighter than air flight but the inventors were hunted down. And in the Before the Fall prequel Manga which is set 70-50 years before the events of the main series you'll see that Paradis already has industrialized manufacturing akin to 1880s irl. They wouldn't never have made thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of those precision engineered ODM gear with 18th century technology.

But guns and cannons remained undeveloped because they were of limited use against the Titans, while flight technology was banned altogether.
I think that the AoT world is a parallel universe when the north and south pole are swapped and that's why there are no lemurs in Madagascar/Paradise You can say is a *titanic* mid blown? :D
I believe it’s far into the future where mankind has reverted back into a medieval like existence. My guess is in this future people just ended up flipping the world map upside down by mistake and it has stayed that way for countless millennia as far as geography goes.
The people inside the wall would most likely wouldnt be black people considering the continents are flipped but not the climates cause geography. Also how would people flipped the continents in the first place?

Also the Paradis island has temperate climate, while madagascar has equatorial and subequatorial climate

Personally I think that the continents were actually flipped on earth, explaining why the native races of Africa are white and why paradis is in no way like Madagascar. The climates are reversed; Europe probably has a black majority, Asia remains about the same, and south America lacks the empires that real south America had and is easier to colonize than north America because of it.

This information, while technically correct, is already out of date and we have learned a great deal more in the past year and half.
- The squabbling Titan families were all kept in check by the power of the Founding Titan which is why Elida never fell in all those centuries.
- The reason Marley got the upper hand had nothing to do with any of their efforts, it was, in fact, the 145th King's (Karl Fritz) will that they be freed and the Eldian people be subjugated. He arranged for all of this in conjunction with the Tybur family (the ones who possessed the Warhammer Titan power) and set up a fake Marleyan hero named Helios for those people to rally around. The plan went forward by having the various houses fight among themselves as usual, but Fritz did not intervene with the Founding power, thus allowing Eldia to self-destruct.
- Karl Fritz never intended for the wall titans to be used, he just wanted the Eldian peoples to live in blissful peace until Marley or the world decided to come and exterminate them, which is why their memories were taken away.
- There are peoples living in the walls that are not affected by the Founding Titan powers because they are not of the People of Ymir. It is one of the reasons why the Asian clan are hunted is because they cannot be affected by that power. Another clan that cannot be affected is the Ackermann clan, which are super soldiers created by the royal family to act as body guards. The Ackermanns did not agree with what Fritz had done and were hunted down for it.
- We know now why the Colossal Titan and the other Warriors were sent; it was to draw out the Fritz family and then take the Founding Titan power back to Marley so that Marley can buy time with it until their dependence on Titans can be sufficiently reduced. Marley became too dependent on the 7 Titan powers they captured to maintain their empire and so had let their technology stagnate some compared to other countries. Those other nations now have significant anti-Titan capabilities and soon with increasing advancements in airpower as well as artillery, Titans will become obsolete as weapons.
- We now know that the analog to Japan in this world : Hizuru was once a staunch ally of Eldia and when Eldia collapsed, so did Hizuru's fortunes. Hizuru is ruled by the Azumabito clan. The Asian people are partly descendants of that clan and Mikasa is a direct descendant of them which is why she has that scar/tattoo on her wrist. Like the Ackermanns, they also disagreed with Karl Fritz and refused a place of nobility inside the walls and in turn were hunted down for it.
- There are African peoples as well as other dark-skinned ethic groups still left. But most of the Eldian and Marleyan peoples are fair-skinned.

I was never all that interested in the lore of AoT nor the series in general (I don't like steampunk, nor do I like the 3DMG), but this is actually fairly interesting. One could hope that the 20th century-tier technology of the rest of the world means that titans, armoured or not, wouldn't be a problem for them (because anti-tank rifles are a thing hehe).
AdotLOM Do yourself a favour and read the series. The geopolitical aspects of it were what got me interested and it is one of my favourite series now, despite originally thinking it looked kind of boring.
To answer your question, this will be a spoiler I’d suppose, one of the bigger plot lines recently is that as technology has progressed and Marley have put all of their focus into the titans they are behind on the times and the titans themselves are becoming less reliable as weapons.

Ymir was the slave of King Fritz, and was infected by some sort of parasite while running for her life (she was being punished for losing a pig, which all the other slaves pinned on her). King Fritz used her to build roads, bridges, furrow fields, and also lay waste to his enemies. The poor girl basically had Stockholm Syndrome, and didn't resist when Fritz "rewarded her with his seed", bearing three girls in the process. When Ymir died saving Fritz from an assassination attempt, the tyrant had her body chopped up and fed to their three daughters until they attained titan powers. On his deathbed, he demanded that they breed endlessly so as to ensure that his Eldian Empire would rule the world.

Actually the manga makes it rather ambiguous as to what really happened during the Eldian regime. The Marleyans teach of their alleged genocide, but this is being questioned with the argument being that there wouldn't be any other races left, while the Eldian resistance fighters believed the regime to have brought stability and infrastructure everywhere, which, again, is doubted by an important character
The Mango confirmed they were really asshole. It's a major theme of the series, the cycle of hate and man's inhumanity to man.

I'd say it's more like the Enclave enslaving people to dig up the FEV at Mariposa, which resulted in them being turned into super mutants. They wanted the FEV to turn it into a pathogen that killed everyone and everything that was "tainted" by mutation, I.E., everyone and everything that wasn't them. They were trying to use mutation to kill mutants, like Marley was using the titans to kill off the remaining Eldians.

Good video but I'd like to answer and correct a few things. First this earth is simply a different earth entirely from ours, it is africa but in this universe it isn't "africa" in fact its not even a desert/jungle continent. It's been shown to be very european, in fact the entire Attack on titan lore is heavily based on Norse mythology thus all the german and swedish names of the characters.
As for WHEN does it take place, again it doesn't exist in our timeline however the current world of attack on titan greatly resembles early 1910s, WW1 era to be specific.
As for "were there always titans?" Well...no, Ymir was the first titan ever thus why she was able to take over the known world at the time, This happened 2000 years before the story so she was met with spears swords and arrows. Also Ymir getting her power from "The devil" is revealed in the story to be false, propaganda by Marley to depict the Eldians as evil and "descendants of the devil" to justify their genocidal treatment of them. The truth behind how Ymir found the power to become a titan is still unknown exactly, much like many real mysteries of the real world its been lost to history.

The last chapter of the manga literally has a procession through the mountains made up of people of various age groups with one woman at the center of it uttering the words, "Kira-sama," aka "Lord Killer."

Forgot to mention the part about Eldian's being represented as literal devil worshipping nazis came from the Marleyan textbooks (the irony), in the manga Owl reveals to Girsha how both interpretations of history, both from the restorationists and the government have their biases and serve mainly as propaganda, so we dont know 100% on how the titans came to being or how the pre wall Eldians really were. I really actually like how each story was made to fit a historical narrative. It reflects the way our history was passed and was prone to manipulation for political purposes.

The story is taking place around WW1/WW2 (the Middle Easterns they fought had Ottoman-inspired uniforms and the Marleys were saying that Titans are becoming more and more useless because of the improvements to Navy and Air Force). Technology within the walls on Madagascar is outdated because it has been repressed by the regime, presumably to maintain stability (for example they killed some people that tried to invent a hot air balloon because they thought it would be used to get over the walls). Basically they're the North Korea of AOT. They don't want the people inside to know anything about the outside. That's also why they have wiped their memories so they'd think they're the last bastion of humanity. I think they did it because they wanted to "restart" humanity, they wanted to have a new start without any grudges. It's an endless genocide cycle with Marleyans and Eldians. So they wanted to break that cycle. At least that's my theory.
AoT has a very interesting world indeed. It was a huge surprise to everyone when it was all revealed around chapter 80. Before that chapter for years everyone had so many theories and many people thought it was just a simple manga about humans fighting titans in medieval times. Then it did a 180* and changed into Game of Thrones/House of Cards lol. And after all it's just about humans killing humans.

It looks to me more like Renaissance era Germany. The architecture is very German and a lot of the uniforms are German as well. Being Germany also somewhat fits as during that era Germany was in an almost constant state of war. Mercenaries exploited peasants freely so many sought protection under lords and behind walls for that.

1:38 i mean look at it this way. that is still as correct a map as ours is, but they lost the context of our maps before titans. Their east is our west and their north is our south, the're all human constructs so it is not incorrect, just different. Its actually really cool because it shows how disconnected they are from the previous world.

Baker's Bread actaully the map is correct for the most part. The world itself is flipped and no Africans weren't genocide. Alot of what he says seems a bit made up, as though he just read the wiki and did patchwork.
but it's inverted. If you face south and look to your right you will look towards paradis in their world, but not madagascar in ours. So it cannot be this world. A better term for it would be "mirror world" or something, not alternate timeline.

It takes place around what would be WW1 in our world. The problem is Paradice is isolated and technology was destroyed and hidden from the general public, as a result the outside world advanced while paradice did not. This vid gets lots of things wrong.
But Hanji's two previous test titans were called Albert and Chikatilo. Albert Fish was a cannibal who died between the 30s-50s (I can't remember at the moment), and Andre Chikatilo was a Russian cannibal who was executed in the mid 1990s. In MY lifetime.

Actually we don't know the real story yet, and we probably never will. The entire point of the setting is that both sides are corrupted and not above using propaganda to further their cause. The truth is likely somewhere in the middle.

When? Because it might have survived maybe until 1700's or so but then in 1800's with the rise of nationalism and nation states, with its very diverse population and culture, it would have failed.
No matter where you put it in a timeline, it fails. Take it and put it in present day setting - a majority Muslim country ruled by Christians and with Greek, who are a minority, being a dominant culture - that ain't gonna last.
Actually, Roman empire (the western one) was more likely to succeed, as its core was on their own territory while Byzantine empire was the product of conquest and was a melting pot of peoples and cultures that do not go well together.
So what ever way you go and by some magic the empire survives to this day and you say - good, now let's see what we have - all you are going to get is a country that fails within years of you starting a simulation.
It was not some event that brought about an end of an empire, nor the series of events within a few decades that you could avoid. The downfall of the empire was built in itself and was something that spanned centuries - it HAD to fall.
Roman empire on the other hand, while it also had a few centuries of rotting from within, we can actually see the defining moments and thing that could have gone differently for it to survive. And it had what it needed to continue after that, with some loss of territory. Byzantine? No. No matter how imaginative you are, it fails. It was an artificial construct based on conquest where the ruling people were a minority - not gonna work.
I mean, if we take it from about the 1200s it would probably have survived because, well, it was Greece...

It's shaped like Africa, and Eurasia, but they're flipped so that Eurasia is possibly in the tropics. There's a huge land mass on the map that is not consistent with anything in this world. It's looks like Africa, but it's not Africa.

Sorry dude, not Madagascar... Only the innermost ring of the walls would even fit there. Prolly not even Earth- just laziest fictional cartography ever.
On the other hand, landmass big enough to fit the outermost wall, and have some land left over so you can't see the sea, would fall somewhere between Greenland and Australia in size so I'm unsure if it would be an island or continent. It may be just semantics, but it makes me think it's just the case of the writer not checking his math in time. Not that it really matters if it's Earth or not.

At it's widest point, Madagascar is just under 600 km, which is only slightly bigger than the innermost wall... And the other two rings go out for hundreds of kilometers further. Bear in mind, almost everything you see in the show or manga- the epic battles, whole towns getting destroyed, recon missions in different climates, chase scenes that go on for fucking ever- pretty much all that shit is happening between the walls.
This Earth may be 4 times bigger than ours which may explain some bigger trees and animals.

I thought the most interesting thing about the lore is the radical difference in advancements of their societies. The Marlyens at this point were WW2-era level of industrialized might while the Paradis Eldians stagnated with 18th century tech. I mean the average Marlyen would scoff at the notion of Jaeger "fighting for humanity". It would be kinda like the premise of The Village.

It was shown in season 3 that the technology remained stagnant because of the interior military police hindering technological progress to keep the people from uncovering the truth. They already have invented lighter than air flight but the inventors were hunted down. And in the Before the Fall prequel Manga which is set 70-50 years before the events of the main series you'll see that Paradis already has industrialized manufacturing akin to 1880s irl. They wouldn't never have made thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of those precision engineered ODM gear with 18th century technology.

I believe it’s far into the future where mankind has reverted back into a medieval like existence. My guess is in this future people just ended up flipping the world map upside down by mistake and it has stayed that way for countless millennia as far as geography goes.
The people inside the wall would most likely wouldnt be black people considering the continents are flipped but not the climates cause geography. Also how would people flipped the continents in the first place?
