I was 4 years old in 1996. I have alot of great memories from that year. If the events of Independence Day were real, and I survived it up to today, I'd probably have serious PTSD and so would all the other '90s kids that survived it.
@@michaelthomas8 We would remember the explosions, the roar of the jet engines, the images of collapsing buildings, the horrifying news reports, and the people we would lose.
Independence Day suffers from the Batman effect. We as humans love to envisage ourselves as able to go toe to toe with the biggest threats that our imaginations can create. However, if a species has the technology to travel thousands of light years to arrive at our door, it is inherently idiotic to assume our current technology would stand a chance against them when we can barely go beyond the moon in manned spacecraft... This is the Batman effect. Batman is often perceived as being able to defy Gods and defeat them in combat, yet he is a simple human being with martial arts training and lots of money, it is inherently impossible for him to do what he does. Yet, he achieves it because we as humans want to feel like we are capable of more than our own limitations, this movie has the same problem... As the late Stephen Hawking once said: if they come here, it will be a repeat of Columbus discovering the new world. except this time, we will be the American Indians...
Humans can progress faster when it is perceived as necessary. Probably not nearly as fast as the sequel depicted but not as grim as this video suggests either.
All of our current technological advances were at one time thought to be above our limitations. Imagine if you could travel 200 years into the past and talk to someone about planting a flag on the moon. You'd be ridiculed and possibly committed.
If aliens ever did come to fight us, we would have to assume they are illogical in the extreme. If any aliens had the ability to traverse star systems with ease, it would be monumentally stupid to attack a pre-populated planet because there are so many uninhabited, unprotected, and unclaimed resources in the galaxy. I can only think of one reason aliens would purposely attack us -- some form of religious/militaristic dogma. Our existence or our habits would have to be blasphemous according to their views. There's really no other reason to commit any resources to engaging in hostilities with us. Our planet's resources aren't even unique in our solar system. They could collect resources from many of our gas giants' moons or asteroids and we probably wouldn't even know they were there. And even if we did notice them in our system, what could we do about it? Our species and tech are essentially useless more than a few kilometers above earth's surface. So if aliens attacked us on our planet, we have to assume we're facing a holy war of sorts.
In this sense many old mecha anime were more "realistic" than independence day, the usual plot is that aliens attack but are opposed and defeated by the protagonist piloting an invincible super robot built by another more advanced alien species with a technology far superior to that used by the attacking aliens.
@@seank5244 But at a certain point you reach technological limitations and the laws of physics. Simply put, faster than light travel is impossible. The sad fact is we haven't progressed that much since 1969 aside from computer technology.
Actually, this explains why the other militaries were leaning so heavily on the Americans' leadership: they are one of the few nations with a surviving head of state
@@gabrielclark1425 Oh don't worry, China is working hard to fix that. After all it only took one expansionist ethnostate with secret concentration camps to create the new international order, imagine how much cooperation round 2 will inspire.
real scenario: aliens bombard the earth from outer space, humans are effed up with no good way to retaliate. Then aliens aproach to finish remaining humans.
For whatever reason, the aliens just *didn't* even do the most efficient or sensible or logical thing. If they could bring those huge ships here, they could just destroy the planet if that's what they wanted .
Important note: The aliens wanted Earth’s resources. Anything they would be capable of lobbing at us from space would more than likely damage the Earth beyond resource harvest capacity.
In this scenario, aliens shouldn’t come back. Space travel is a tremendous endeavor, and requires incredible levels of funding. The aliens would probably also be pretty badly affected by such a conflict
I mean, you also have to take into account their technological advancements, their access to resources, and why they would have even came here and tried to wipe humanity out in the first place. That last part may be a mystery, but judging by the size of their vessels, they're at least a type 2 civilization, and it's probably safe to assume that they have access to dark energy products judging by their weapons and methods of transport.
To be fair, in the first movie, didn't Bill Pullman say their entire species moves from planet to planet? They should all be dead, let alone anything else.
What I don't get about the way alien invasions are depicted is why they automatically assume that the aliens wouldn't strike indiscriminately. They wouldn't care where our capitals are, they would just start wiping out population centers.
Yes but it's all relative. African and Latin American nations aren't as Urbanized as Europe or North America; meaning a large chunk of their population is rural and would've likely survived the onslaught on cities. Australia would've been fucked up though because most of its population lives in 5-6 major cities
@@MisterSpinalzo Depends on what their ultimate plans are. If all they want to do is wipe us out then yes. If they are looking to enslave or something then taking out the CnC centers makes sense. Blowing up the Statue of Liberty makes sense because it looks cool. Aliens are going to have a sense of style as well ya know.

Hello all. My channel went on an unofficial hiatus this month. I've spent this whole time improving how I deliver my content. The next few weeks will be very busy for the channel, as I have collaborations, contest final video, and other alternate history content. I know this channel has had a bit of a dry spell, but I assure you that is now over. I can finally get back to uploading. Summer is here all.
I'd almost like a part two of this, with it still going with the realistic theme but chucking the aliens coming back aspect out the window!! Focusing on how long it may take to recover or which nations/cities have the greatest likelihood to come out on top. I wonder if the US of this timeline still has their navy?
One of my biggest problems with the sequel was that they rebuilt within 20 years after all that death and destruction. Realistically it would take at least a century or more and it would be a very different world from the one we know.
When I think about the state of destruction of germany after WWII, I think this would be most likly a similar state for all the industrial nations in independence day. But in this case there would be no big money comming of the rich countries because they got destroyed.... but still, if you compare germany from 1945 to 1965 there are 2 different worlds.
I always wondered why the xcom project recruited the worst soldiers of all time for what is meant to prevent the enslavement of humankind. I guess they thought it wouldn't be that hard.
I'm sorry but, if a civilization of beings has achieved Interstellar Travel and not only that they can move an entire army from system to system? we're dead.
I find it more probable that UFOs are left over remnants from previous hominid civilizations. Intersteller travel is so far beyond the scope of simply building spacecraft.
@@BarryAllen-xg4pj for sure, not only that they probably wouldn't have to go anywhere themselves they could just push a bunch of large rocks our way lol
In ID4, the aliens actually don't have any FTL travel apart from wormholes, which had to be constructed with exotic materials. This makes interstellar travel for them quite fast, but difficult.
I think you seriously underestimate the human ability to adapt and overcome. 2 Billion Survivors still has the population of 1927. We still had a complex, global spanning society at that time and we would still have access to all our current knowledge in libraries and digital media around the world.
You will use this knowledge while people are breaking your door to steal your food? While you're busy gathering wood to warm you in winter? The survival part will probably kill half of humanity before you could do anything.
@@phigis3179 there would likely not be a famine. The aliens weren't destroying farms, as many have said. Hell, there would probably be a huge surplus of food available. Economies would tank, sure, but mass famine? Not likely.
But imagine if your business suddenly lost half of its workers. Most likely, you’d have to go out of business. Now imagine you were still alive and your work went out of business. Now you have no job, and not enough businesses are left to invest in. You would have to save your money. Now imagine you were a business that somehow didn’t go out of business, and regained all of its workers who lost their jobs. But no one is buying your goods/services because they need to save money. You have to go out of business. And even more people have to save money. Now imagine you were a bank, and all the businesses shut down. You wouldn’t have any way of making money. And thus, the economy crashes.
Ohh optimists. U have so much to learn about the mess that is the Human race. So blind in your trust of your species................... That will change by 2126 thats for sure.
Well, there are additional issues that weren't covered by this video: - Plague/diseases: 3 billion corpses…and not a lot of people burying them. Hopefully most of these got incinerated or dried up/charred by the city-destroying superlasers, otherwise there’s gonna be plagues out the wazoo, further whittling down human numbers. - Climate/weather alteration: many major cities and industrial/military sites just got incinerated in a 3-day explosion spree. That is massive amounts of soot, ash, possible toxic chemical or radioactive materials (bc y’all know every nuclear facility worldwide would be a target for those aliens, giant glowing SHHOT ME signs from space!), etc all being thrown into the atmosphere by city-incinerating fires. Growing food will be REALLY hard for several years, until the crap can get washed out of the air by natural processes. - Nukes: We have no idea how many nukes were thrown around, they only showed the one US attempt in the movie. I can't imagine other nations wouldn't at least consider the idea, and as everything got whittled down they'd say fuck it and throw everything at the aliens, only to have those damn super-shields block all of it. So, now you have basically nuclear winter on top of the crap in the air, and LOTS of radioactive clouds sweeping the globe. Yay mutations and most babies born post-Collapse dying! - Because of the above, the riots and civil disturbances are MUCH worse than described, meaning Road- or Walking Dead-esque apocalyptic societal collapses are much more likely. People sorta need food yo, and aren't happy when there is none. - Nothing at all was mentioned concerning alien tech. There’s kilometer-long alien starships crashed all over the world, you can bet they’ll be looted and stripped down to nothing VERY quickly by every group ever. - Also, the crashed alien ships: I doubt ALL the onboard aliens died. So, in addition to complete global chaos, you got invading alien armies stranded on our planet, competing for resources and probably continuing their extermination campaign as best as they can with limited alien tech available. More dead people. This is the kind of thing that would knock all of mankind down to 19th century tech, pre-oil and coal basically, barring whatever alien tech was scavenged. Hopefully there’s some brain-uploading super-education tech on those ships, bc without that mankind’s technological ability to leap far enough to use and integrate alien tech is screwed.
James VunKannon The book states other countries agreed to let the US try with nukes first then follow up if they worked which they didnt, so no further nukes were fired.
There was clearly NO all-out thermonuclear launch against the aliens. 4 UK cities destroyed - so, probably London, Birmingham, Manchester and...Cardiff? Leaving huge numbers of industrial cities, oil platforms, sea ports, army bases, farms, power stations - nuclear and otherwise - intact. Economy tanks, yes - but desolation? No.
Well, Houston was successfully evacuated, and I'm Houstonian. I and all of my family and friends are alive! Yay! But I wasn't alive in 1996 in the first place, so... My parents survived to make me! Yay!
No, they didn't. They took a vote to see if people wanted to leave or not, and the people voted in favour of leaving. They have not left just yet, as there are actual systems that must be gone through before one can leave the Union.
2:20 - you could Easily lose 3 billion people to famine, drought, civilian unrest, loss of medicine/medical services. warlords and countries going to war with each other over scarce resources and old grudges.
I could imagine a lot of opportunism as well, the “peacekeepers” (US and its allies) have just effectively collapsed, I would imagine a lot of new dictators arriving.
They certainly wont hover a couple of miles above cites to blast, then wait for some cable tech guy to hack their systems for a one in a million chance to blow them up.
When you say "Like Superman" do you mean a GOOD person with incredible powers. Or do you mean just some random person with incredible powers? Because that would drastically change how the scenario would go.

Here's 10 possible scenarios for Alternate History: What if the U.S went to war with Great Britain over the Oregon Territory? What if Quebec became independent in 1995? What if the U.S conquered Canada in the American Revolution? What if the Chinese Empire never collapsed? What if Israel never existed? What if Nationalist China won the civil war? What if Fredrick III didn't die in 1888? What if William McKinley was never assassinated? What if Italy was on the Central Powers in WW1? What if France won the Seven Years war?
I can answer some of these. 1. Going to war with Mexico was one thing. War with the British Empire was another. If the USA does not have foreign support, expect the British to win. Just a Royal Navy blockade could starve America. What if America had foreign support? The most likely candidate would be Russia, they still controlled Alaska then.
5. That would require that atrocities like the Holocaust don't occur, so there won't be international sympathy for Jews. Without an Israel supported by the USA, the USA's relations with the Arab world would be much better. After all, before Israel existed, Arabs had generally revered the USA, in contrast with the European empires. Without Israel, the chances of a pan-Arab state may also be higher.
7. If he didn't have cancer, it would depend what he would do with Bismarck. Would he be dismissed or would he stay? Fritz was quite against Bismarck, so I shall assume he is dismissed. Within Germany, most would agree that the country would have less militarist influence and more democratic influence but that is debatable. The military was very powerful, and in our timeline, they frequently overruled Kaiser Wilhelm II. As for foreign relations, would Fritz continue the alliance with Russia? If no, the difference may not be that huge.
9. The CP would convince the Italian to divert their territorial ambitions west, from Austria and towards France. They would promise Italy the French territories of Nizza, Savoia, Corsica, Tunisia and other African colonies. Military situation would be quite different. Italy could not push much into France due to the terrain, but could divert French troops fighting the Germans to the south. Italy could also send men to the Balkans and the Middle East. Italy and Austria would have to engage the British and French navies in the Med. Without an Italo-Austrian front, Austria could defeat Serbia quickly and Russia would face the full force of the Austrian army, meaning a quicker defeat. Lastly, would the USA join the war? There were many Italian immigrants in the USA then, combined with Germans, could be an important voice.
After the alien war: Britian: Germany did it Russia: Yep Germany Italy: Germany summoned dem alienssss America: Germany alien civilization confirmedddddd Hamburgers = Liberty steaks
@@azelfdaboi5265 That part about (what's left of) Italy allying with the remnant aliens from the first wave in order to attempt to both learn some of their tech and to possibly be spared retribution for when the second wave arrives sounds like an interesting plot point for an AU story!
That's probably too similar to some of his other videos eg. What if the nazis won WW2. Wolfenstein would be pretty alike to that, bar some science fiction stuff thrown in.
They did, the U.S. government had to deal with his wonder weapons but they probably don't say anything about it cause they were most likely about to lose that war.
Wolfenstein takes place in a universe where humans migrated from mars. During the mass extinction that killed off the martian race. Blastowitz being a descendant of the martian warrior that stopped hell from taking over mars and killing off the martians. Doom guy being a decendent of blastowitz as well. The reason why the tech is so advanced is due to it being based off remenets of martian technology. Yes this is all canon. The martian immigration story can be viewed in doom 3. John romero in an interview said bj and doom guy are related.
I have some video requests. 1. What if Israel lost the 6 days war 2. What if the soviet union never invaded afghanistan in 1979 3. What if socialism wasn't anti religion (no flamewar please) 4. What if the Bay of Pigs invasion was a success 5. What if the nationalist party won the chinese civil war in 1946 - 1949 6. What if the prohibition of alcohol in 1920 - 1933 in the US never happened 7. What if the North American video game crash of 1983 never happened You don't have to make a video about all of them.
If Israel lost the Six Day War, there'd be no issue about the West Bank being occupied, but there'd probably be no Israel - they attacked because the other countries were already preparing for war. (Egypt had already made a blockade in Eilat, and Jordan was shelling civilians) So, a lot of things wouldn't have been invented.
I'd certainly expect there to be a lot of salvaged material from the crashed alien ships, even if we never get to understand principles the technology is built from.
There is an, admittedly not well done, book about alien survivors bargaining how to use and make their tech in exchange for survival. It's how we theoretically bounce back so successfully. Power systems that can work for an alien mothership capable of travelling through space and projected energy weapons can easily power an entire country, even the US at it's height. But don't worry, the maker of this video completely ignores the timeline and makes his own where the fact we have our hands on alien tech is completely ignored. Not saying the events of the second movie would happen, we certainly wouldn't be where the movie said we were, completely rebuilt, but it wouldn't be this video either.
i think youre seriously undervluing the whole"alien tech" thing. I can see gov factions scouring wreckage sites for tech that may hold their nations together. And if they found anti-grv tech lone, massive automated construction is available.
Going to take a very long time to reverse engineer, study, develop, and test new systems based on that technology. Several decades would be optimistic.
If there are any wrecks to salvage, plus a safe place to stay hidden in long enough to retro-engineer the tech, test it and mass-produce it, not to mention the logistics of the entire endeavor...
@@stupidburpthey were able to control the alien ship in the first movie. Even the shields on it,, plus hacked into the mothership. I don't think reverse engineering would be a problem for them in that universe
Brexit baby Yeah, because globalists who think it's moral to destroy national and cultural identities in favor of one world culture, one world government, and one world economy ARE REALLY scared little grown up babies who can't deal with the idea that people are going to disagree and produce different and incompatible cultures, and that and the ability to coexist as a global community while valuing those differences is the most important thing humanity has done, and the most interesting. I mean seriously imagine if there were no wonderful countries to visit, no Paris, no London, no Moscow because globalism made every culture the same everywhere. That is just one reason why I will celebrate Brexit until my dying day, it's a finger in the eye of a culture which believes the moral thing to do is to eradicate cultures that aren't there own. Fascist globalists, versus diverse globalists.
CollectvlyUnconsious What in God's name made you think globalism is equivalent of cultural eradication?? Who says globalist unity can't be a melting pot of cultures, except with a singular worldwide government handling things? If it's possible in Star Trek, it's possible in reality; and yes, that is indeed a relevant thing to say, because it was Star Trek that inspired the invention of the cell phone and the iPad. Seriously, look it up.
I always thought that would have been a better sequel! Fighting them on the ground and in wrecked ships would have been interesting. Maybe we could get some of the alien scientists to help us learn their tech. We might not have sleek mass production fighters, but ugly slapped together stuff that would just do the job. Putting a human spin on the tech, like swarm drones flying with anti gravity devices.
HELIOS WOLFKING in the first move we see that ship crash, but in the sequel we see it with legs coming out of it. Probably just put it in their so they could find stuff...
The Deadpool. Well I have good news and bad news for you. Bad news: it's not that long, only a couple of pages. Good news: you can easily look it up on google images.
I remember that after the first movie its explained that those aliens left stranded after the first wave failed fought gurilla wars from there crashed ships. The fighting would potentially explain the death figures from what you actually see.
A Xenomorph attack wouldn't be easy to stop but then again if they land at a major metropolitan area like New York or London or Bejing and cut people down we'd likely end up nuking the city and sending in bombardment forces to pulverize the remnants, as each drone can continue the lifecycle we'd need to be very thorough and destroy each egg, but I'd bet good money they'd struggle in Russia, what with divisions of flamethrower troops in the military. Places like Africa are less likely to mount a successful campaign and a larger population could be a disaster. I'm basing this off 2019 but the 1996 world would be at a great disadvantage.
Australia, New Zealand, west canada, Israel, Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and other rich countries still exist, Australia being the most stable and rich, aside from New Zealand, they are tiny, unites the rest of the surviving governments to take advantage of the tech, while the northern hemisphere is left in ruins, we are left to develop and become major universal players
Very cool video. I enjoyed both films (though the second film was not as 'wow' as the first one, it was still a lot of fun to watch) But I think however a more realistic approach (as discussed in the video) would have given the movie more soul.
Nah, humanity would definitely rebuild itself much faster than you think. Right now we are kind of in a ''self-indulgence extasis'' in wich we dont need to develop any faster than we are even if we obviously could.
Yes but who is gonna help build this up if the global ecomony is non-existent and major urban centers and capitals are currently on fire with over half the earths population bitting the dust and major trade routes lost
With things the way they are currently, we're screwed and doomed to remain a type 0 society. Which is probably for the best. Humans don't need to take to the stars and do to others what we've been doing to each other.
Imagine if America was faced with two awful options, one somewhat worse than the other, either of which would leave them with worse foreign relations and broken policies... Oh, right.... YOU DON'T HAVE TO IMAGINE!
@Un-Metaphorical Grapevine - the world would tear itself apart as people quickly go insane and start killing each other. How many people can a nutball kill if he can throw fireballs or summon dragons?
In all actuality, if they're able to travel the universe so freely, there are plenty of planets without hostile inhabitants that you could siphon the resources from
Adopting alien technology might help to rebuild the world. Who needs oil? When you have marvelous alien energy source devices. Logistics issues are solved by learning alien antigravity technology.
SO MAd MAx would be less in Australia and more in America or Europe. Still I wonder how would Australia react to (if any) refugees coming in? Also, would Australia be #1 power left in a post-apocalyptic, or would it be competing with the remaining countries like Saudi Arabia, Congo, or Brazil?
Australia is larger and is more isolated then those countries also we would probably take in refugees in the beginning but would probably have to stop after maybe a year so not to over populate
It would probably happen here: "During the first decade of Vladimir's reign, pagan reaction set in. Perun was chosen as the supreme deity of the Slavic pantheon and his idol was placed on the hill by the royal palace. This revival of paganism was contemporaneous with similar attempts undertaken by Jarl Haakon in Norway and (possibly) Svein Forkbeard in Denmark. His religious reform failed. By the late 980s he had found it necessary to adopt monotheism from abroad. The Primary Chronicle reports that, in the year 986, Vladimir met with representatives from several religions. The result is amusingly described in the following apocryphal anecdote. Upon the meeting with Muslim Bulgarians of the Volga, Vladimir found their religion unsuitable due to its requirement to circumcise and taboos against alcoholic beverages and pork; supposedly, Vladimir said on that occasion: "Drinking is the joy of the Rus', we can't go without it." He also consulted with Jewish envoys (who may or may not have been Khazars), questioned them about their religion but ultimately rejected it, saying that their loss of Jerusalem was evidence of their having been abandoned by God.[7]"" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianization_of_Kievan_Rus%27#Vladimir.27s_baptism_of_Kiev
The world map would look different right now. Somehow I feel, that HRE would have made few crusades against them in order to drive islam from Europe. It has been proven successful with otomans and would probably be similar with russians as well. China (Ming) would have expanded their borders to the north and west significantly throughout the ages (till our times) and muslim russia would probably be like 1/5 of its current size ;)
thats a good one man, that would be trippy, wonder if the secularists would succeed in an economic sense and the rise of radicals would never happen or some crazy war, new cold war; cool concept
It would have several opportunities (if they could actually consolidate power) It has longstanding trade along land and sea, it was lesser hit (in this example) and with large oil and food being able to export the Saudi's Riyal could become a very stable currency. The main problems is that they would have to contend with the rest of the AU and India.
The middle east has no technologies, no education centres, no real exchange equivalent to the rest of the world. The middle east without oil would go bankrupt debt to those countries might be recovered by larger countries by annexing small countries and possible outlawing any radical religion that might be a danger to the objective.
So would that be a world where Malcolm X was more nonviolent and didn't clash with Dr. King? Or would this be a world where Malcolm X and the Nation became the predominant voices of the civil rights movement?
diamond woods Then I agree with Bryce Walker, there would have been a race war. Black separatists and white nationalists killing each-other in the streets. Best case and less likely outcome would be the formation of a new country in the american south and then a massive migration like we saw with the split of India and Pakistan with white people leaving and black people coming in. Most likely case it would just set the civil rights movement back a couple of decades or more. Worst case would be mass deportations of the black community back to Africa or to US controlled territories overseas. Personally I would rather see a world where neither Lincoln or Dr. King were shot and killed. Maybe see a country with true integration rather than defacto segregation and failed halfass government attempts at desegregation.
If it happened while Trump was president he would say 'we don't accept aliens here, we're making America great again' and then show them to Mexico once his wall was built
Mmm, no. We'd reverse engineer the shields and build an energy based wall that covers the US on all sides. Since we can't ship the aliens back to their home world, we pack them into canisters and launch them into the sun. #MakeEarthGreatAgain
Not really. The Great Depression was caused by the Dust Bowl in Oklahoma screwing up our agricultural base and labor disputes screwing up our industrial production and happened before all those cities in Europe and Asia got blown up which actually ended the Great Depression by downsizing the overpopulation of useless eaters and forced rich and poor people to settle their differences for a while for the sake of their common survival.

@@seank5244 But at a certain point you reach technological limitations and the laws of physics. Simply put, faster than light travel is impossible. The sad fact is we haven't progressed that much since 1969 aside from computer technology.

real scenario: aliens bombard the earth from outer space, humans are effed up with no good way to retaliate. Then aliens aproach to finish remaining humans.
The aliens would not even bother approaching. Just send killer robots to finish the job.
True, but in the movie, the main weapon trapped under the ship’s shields vastly expanded its destructive power as far as area affected.
OllamhDrab
Yeah, maybe technologically advanced because they’ve had a lot of time but not the smartest population..
In this scenario, aliens shouldn’t come back. Space travel is a tremendous endeavor, and requires incredible levels of funding. The aliens would probably also be pretty badly affected by such a conflict
Heck, they might have collapsed too
@@kagenlim5271 probably not
I mean, you also have to take into account their technological advancements, their access to resources, and why they would have even came here and tried to wipe humanity out in the first place.

Narrator completely forgets the scenes in Africa.
That will change by 2126 thats for sure.
in 1927 our world was not destroyed and burning ^_^
Well, there are additional issues that weren't covered by this video:
- Plague/diseases: 3 billion corpses…and not a lot of people burying them.
No.
Are the books different from the movie? As in humanity is doomed?

Here's 10 possible scenarios for Alternate History:
What if the U.S went to war with Great Britain over the Oregon Territory?
Man i remember that the GB and Oregon territory dispute, the common phrase used by people back then was "54 40 or fight!" Led by President James Polk

All requests follow that format.
If Israel lost the Six Day War, there'd be no issue about the West Bank being occupied, but there'd probably be no Israel - they attacked because the other countries were already preparing for war. (Egypt had already made a blockade in Eilat, and Jordan was shelling civilians)

Seriously, look it up.
what about the alien survivors of those crashed ships. there would be quite a few
It was about ship
When they took out the queen they all just died
@@WRGOP In the sequel, they state that the only ship that landed in Africa resulted in a ground war for years after the war ended.
HELIOS WOLFKING in the first move we see that ship crash, but in the sequel we see it with legs coming out of it. Probably just put it in their so they could find stuff...
What if Titans actually appeared, like in SnK?
With our technology we could easily beat them. It wouldn't be as cool as the show and Manga
Not exactly what you were describing but you could read the Avengers/Attack on Titan crossover comic if you want something similar.
+jiyutari wait what! holy fuck i have to read that! asdfghjlll
The Deadpool. Well I have good news and bad news for you. Bad news: it's not that long, only a couple of pages. Good news: you can easily look it up on google images.
+jiyutari well thats bad, and great....
I remember that after the first movie its explained that those aliens left stranded after the first wave failed fought gurilla wars from there crashed ships. The fighting would potentially explain the death figures from what you actually see.
What if Xenomorphs invaded Earth?
Then we dead
They did in alien earth wars comics
As soon as they spread we're done.
It would be a plague
I correct myself, Israel was craped on, the official site says so
According to the official website, Spain and Ireland survived with no cities being attacked.
Also, the website states that Vancouver, Rio De Janiero, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Perth were annihilated.
+Spacefaring Polandball Good thing Perth isn't Australia's most populated city.
+Edgy Teenager It's confirmed Sydney survived because they show the Harbour Bridge and Opera House by a crashed ship at the end of the movie.
Very cool video. I enjoyed both films (though the second film was not as 'wow' as the first one, it was still a lot of fun to watch) But I think however a more realistic approach (as discussed in the video) would have given the movie more soul.
YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR IS KIND OF LIKE SPIDER MAN'S !!!!GREAT JOB!!!
Last time i was this early, the UK was still part of the European Union
Wow so original mate clap clap not that I've seen this on every video ever
EU now has 1GB full of free space......haha.
GB is just an island when really there's actually 1073741824 bytes of free space. I'm being geographically and computationally correct. I'm sorry.
original
The UK's still in the EU.
At this point the presidential elections are pretty much choosing the least harmful cancer.
Think on the bright side, whoever is elected will most likely serve just wrong term at most.
*serve one
Unless someone worse comes by.
vote third party, I am personally voting libertarian, as I was going to vote Bernie, until he lost.
3:28 This single-handedly made me like the video
What if magic began to manifest in humans?
like in the Shadowrun RPG?
hell yeah
he needs to see this
@Un-Metaphorical Grapevine - the world would tear itself apart as people quickly go insane and start killing each other. How many people can a nutball kill if he can throw fireballs or summon dragons?
Garret Marks Too many possibilities, but AHH will have his own take on it.
In all actuality, if they're able to travel the universe so freely, there are plenty of planets without hostile inhabitants that you could siphon the resources from
It's the same reason why Europeans colonized the world the were other areas they could have gone that did not have hostile natives
The most rational explanation is that the harvesters want to eliminate any possible competition as well as sucking the planet dry of resources.
@@Samrtfirdeg terrible example and no the Americas were prime for colonization.
Adopting alien technology might help to rebuild the world. Who needs oil? When you have marvelous alien energy source devices. Logistics issues are solved by learning alien antigravity technology.
"As seen lately, just a small change to the Economic balance of the world has catastrophic reprocussions"
- 2020 says hi
do what if the battle of loss Angeles was real?
I would like to see that as well
yeah
Don't forget Pacific Rim!
You mean the film or the actual event itself?
It would have been a loss- Angeles
0:44 That computer screen. XD
Wish more people noticed that, would be fun to see Muslims get outraged over it in the comments.
Well, I haven't seen any Muslims, but there was an angry liberal politically correct Bernie voter who was flipping out.
+Attila the Fun Saw one above.
+LUASMCC Official yeah, saw him too... he forgot his youtube safety bubble.
My god
yay as an Australian I have a chance to not die instantly
you may not have aliens but you do have to deal with every animal there that wants to kill you
It's not as bad as everyone else thinks. I live in a relatively small town and we hardly see any dangerous wildlife
exactly
SO MAd MAx would be less in Australia and more in America or Europe. Still I wonder how would Australia react to (if any) refugees coming in? Also, would Australia be #1 power left in a post-apocalyptic, or would it be competing with the remaining countries like Saudi Arabia, Congo, or Brazil?
Australia is larger and is more isolated then those countries also we would probably take in refugees in the beginning but would probably have to stop after maybe a year so not to over populate
I never existed in this timeline as my parents would have never met ( assuming they fled Paris ) .
what if the nazis landed on the moon?
They would build Death Star and destroy the world
+MrFudgeWaffle Pretty much
What if? Hitlers frozen on a nazi moon base haha jks
Isn't that what the movie "Iron Sky" was all about?
"The Legend of Koizumi"
What if Russia originally converted to Islam instead of Christianity?
what?
yas
Takbir, suka?
It would probably happen here:
"During the first decade of Vladimir's reign, pagan reaction set in.
The Primary Chronicle reports that, in the year 986, Vladimir met with representatives from
several religions. The result is amusingly described in the following
apocryphal anecdote. Upon the meeting with Muslim Bulgarians of the Volga, Vladimir found their religion unsuitable due to its requirement to circumcise and taboos against alcoholic beverages and pork; supposedly, Vladimir said on that occasion: "Drinking is the joy of the Rus', we can't go without it." He also consulted with Jewish envoys (who may or may not have been Khazars), questioned them about their religion but ultimately rejected it, saying that their loss of Jerusalem was evidence of their having been abandoned by God.[7]""
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianization_of_Kievan_Rus%27#Vladimir.27s_baptism_of_Kiev
What if Nasser's plan for a pan-Arab League succeeded?
+Alper T Why would they do that? The Pan Arab League was more like a European Union thing than super power I think.
thats a good one man, that would be trippy, wonder if the secularists would succeed in an economic sense and the rise of radicals would never happen or some crazy war, new cold war; cool concept
i would think so; or a third front cold war right?
It would have several opportunities (if they could actually consolidate power) It has longstanding trade along land and sea, it was lesser hit (in this example) and with large oil and food being able to export the Saudi's Riyal could become a very stable currency. The main problems is that they would have to contend with the rest of the AU and India.
The middle east has no technologies, no education centres, no real exchange equivalent to the rest of the world. The middle east without oil would go bankrupt debt to those countries might be recovered by larger countries by annexing small countries and possible outlawing any radical religion that might be a danger to the objective.
Wait a minute... Sao Paulo got left alone? Looks like Brazil is the new dominant country.
What if Nate Turners Rebellion succeeded?
And
What if Malcolm X gave the "Dream Speech" at DC?
race war....
also a flame war on this comment thread....
So would that be a world where Malcolm X was more nonviolent and didn't clash with Dr. King? Or would this be a world where Malcolm X and the Nation became the predominant voices of the civil rights movement?
+stardude692001 the second one.
diamond woods Then I agree with Bryce Walker, there would have been a race war.
I wish Cody was my history teacher.
He is probably more accurate because he doesn't censor what happens like schools do
Well I'm here. Lol!
+Cody Roder me too
"Spoiler, you had twenty years to watch it." ha
Anybody else here after his Pointless Hub vid?
If it happened while Trump was president he would say 'we don't accept aliens here, we're making America great again' and then show them to Mexico once his wall was built
Mmm, no. We'd reverse engineer the shields and build an energy based wall that covers the US on all sides. Since we can't ship the aliens back to their home world, we pack them into canisters and launch them into the sun. #MakeEarthGreatAgain
+Daemonwulfe theyd dev a virus, kill off most of the race then come in with the cure , then finish us off
He would build a ceiling and make the aliens pay for it.
+Zeina107 What would keep the aliens from using biological warfare first?
I honestly would want trump president instead of Hillary .
It would be a giant Great Depression
+Holden Bickle Super Mega Depression
economy committed suicide :( RIP
mixed with the wild west woot fallout
literal depression, cause huge spaceships made dents on the earth
What if Brexit never happened? (Realistic Aftermath)
Well then the uk won't collapse lmao
Europe remains cucked, and in 50 years, the EU becomes the Confederated Islamic Republics of Europe. Allahu Akbar!
+François Beuforte #FREXIT
what if Scotland gained it's independence in 2014?
+the AR-15 guy that is epic jedidiah greene indeed.
The narration narrated by Turtledove in his sci-fi saga is perfectly realistic: I love it, I hope that u read that too!
On the map in the video
Australia: where is my good old pal new zealand?
This reminds me of the stellaris invicta series by the templin institute
Yes I know we must take hard measures to ensure the survivalbility of our species
It won't happen, people are too self absorbed and ignorant as a whole.
Look at social media, making people famous who aren't intelligent, gifted or talented.
Teachers, scientists, doctors, mathematicians and the like should be the ones looked up to, not athletes, idiots and actors/actresses.
But, that's the world we live in.
What a waste.
What a shame, if only we could undo that...
Can you please do one of these scenarios?
1.What if Half Life happened in real life
2.What if the Papers Please countries existed in real life?
3.What if Bismarck lived and remained in power until world war one.
Well i tried putting it in a list form but TH-cam doesn't allow me to.
If HL actually happened, it would just be like it was in the game, except maybe the military would last longer against the Combine.
most boring suggestions I've seen in a while
places like thad did exist
Sorry kek for some reason youtube removed your comment for spam. And i do know that countries "like" them existed. What i mean is what if the events of the game happened like the war between Kolechia and Arstotzka and the polio outbreak in United Fed.
And Gordon. It couldn't happen exactly like real life because the HECU didn't exist :D
We really need an updated version of this it’s such an interesting concept
