IS SURGERY A CURE FOR GUT MOTILITY DISORDERS? STOMAS AND GUT MOTILITY ISSUES

  • 5 weeks post op and I feel like a new woman! But there is a BUT. I am not completely out of pain and discomfort. Despite my gut symptoms being DRAMATICALLY better I am still struggling with my stomach. It feels like phase one is complete (stoma surgery) and now I have to move onto phase two (improving my stomach- gastroparesis).
Unfortunately for many, surgery is not the last piece of the puzzle , it is just a significant part of it.
    In this video I explain:
✅Why stoma surgery isn’t necessarily a cure for gut motility disorders
✅How to manage your surgery expectations
✅How to see surgery as a positive step in your journey rather than the end result

I no longer have peristasis in my colon. I need lots of laxatives so I can go. I feel sick most days. My dr said don’t rush surgery. Keep taking laxatives until they stop working. My GI said I could come out worse than when I went in. I don’t have a choice because without a colectomy or colostomy I will die. I will need some type of ostomy. I’m scared but that’s my life. This has ruined my life. I hope surgery can help somewhat.

Warning: Anyone without a gallbladder who gets an ileostomy may experience extreme dehydration and electrolyte imbalances which can be dangerous

I just saw your video, right now I'm waiting for ny surgery. To get out my colon and get a leostomy or a Ileorectal anastomosis. I'm scared because I have to choose what's the best for me and I'm feeling so sick for the last 24 years... I don't know what I'm gonna choose but this video has giving me more hope for the future. Thank you for that!

Groetjes xxx

No regrets! I put it off for 10 years and nearly died of an intestinal obstruction. He found 80% totally non-functional. I also have poor pelvic floor function. I had a total colectomy and a permanent ileostomy. It isn't perfect. There are many foods I can't est.

@@gutmylifeback7926 its so good to know its helping u hun, that is brilliant and I'm.so happy for u.. these symptoms are so hard to live with ad wouldn't wish them on anyone.
I rang the booking team and I'm booked for my pre assessment on 7th May and then just have to wait for when and what hospital my surgeon wants to bring me into if they say I'm fit for surgery. Could still be a long wait as he keeps saying he dont want to put me at risk. I'm getting so desperate now, and going through so much.

Oh my gosh girl ! I needed your TH-cam channel so badly! I have EDS Mitochondrial Disease MCAS GI DYSMOTILITY Gastreoparisis and chronic pseudo obstruction. Ive been considering a ileostomy my medical team has suggested it to me . I needed to hear this video though . Here recently I've been putting all my hope and thoughts into this ileostomy! I kept thinking this is the fix . But I've benge watched all your videos and am just realizing that thats not the case ! It may not be a 100% fix . It may be just another tool to help me better manage my bowels . So I am spending 3 to 5 hours in the bathroom trying to relieve myself with enemas and laxatives . It has taken over my life ! I have 2 children and I am missing life as im a prisoner in the bathroom. I know you've been struggling with blockages . Do you regret the surgery? Has it improved your quality of life? Im so scared but I'm also hungry for relief! Thank you for sharing your experiences as I truly needed to see them to help me as I walk this road. Much Love and Many Prayers to you 🙏 ❤

Hi Meagan so glad you found my channel! You sound like you are in the position I was- spending so much time trying to open my bowels but nothing really working.
I do not regret my ileostomy at all- it has improved my gut symptoms by 90%. And actually the blockages I was constantly getting at the time of this video was because of scar tissue. I have just had a second surgery to remove the scar tissue and my blockages have stopped altogether. This can happen randomly and some people do get scar tissue after surgery. And my stomach issues have settled down now- it just needed time.
So now I’m living life pretty free to do whatever and eat whatever!
And remember a stoma can be reversed- which is what helped me come to accept the surgery. I knew if it didn’t work or I hated it it could be reversed.
If you wana talk follow me on IG (@gutmylifeback) and Dm me xxx😊❤️

@@IdkIdk-gw3qo I had UC for 12 years and my colon died, I wish I had found Keto sooner, because after the surgery, that new diet got rid of all the inflammation in my body. Motility Disorders usually don’t want you to eat meat and more try to relax your digestion, so probably would not work for you. Search out a Dr that listens to you and work on a good course of treatment. I did and lost over a 150 lbs and am in the best shape of my life.

My husband 64years old now, suffering feeling sick most of the time specially at night for 5years but getting worse lately even with some medication, feel better at daytime when working. He's been diagnosed with chronic lower esophageal dysmotility and probably somewhere else in the gut for about five years but just diagnosed last year. We're not confident having sugery which it seems the last choice if everythings not working.
